i mean

so assuming that taxes go to help the poor which i think is pretty standard taxes are charity because you are paying money and then that money is going to help people who need help (i mean not really but that's the intent so it kinda counts) and then that is also insurance because if you lose your job or whatever and suddenly you are one of those poor now all those taxes you paid back when you were well off are (theoretically) going to help you and so it's insurance that you'll have some basic level of living which is hopefully a decent level of living where all of your basic needs are met. and then! you get to also pay for things that you are currently using! like roads and schools and all of those things that you currently use all the time? every time you pay taxes you are also benefitting your current self.

Happy Valentine's Day From Queenston Heights Niagara River Gorge Overlook, Complete With Seasonal Ice

Happy Valentine's Day from Queenston Heights Niagara River Gorge Overlook, complete with seasonal ice floes on the river.

Getting some High Angle Rescue training done at Shaw in between snowstorms, the roads are mostly clean, but covered in just enough salt, sand, ice, slush and snow to keep things exciting.

Tried to take a short cut down Line 3 and it looked like this:

Happy Valentine's Day From Queenston Heights Niagara River Gorge Overlook, Complete With Seasonal Ice

That's not Line 3 but that's about how it looked. Line 3 possibly had less blacktop visible.

The tiny part of my brain that wants to survive was like "U-Turn now, Niagara Stone Road is clean, stop before it's too late!"

The rest of my stubborn conscience was shouting "Too late! Committed now!" A good abilities test, and what's the worst, crashing on ice is like "whupssslidddeeee."

But yah. Winter riding. Good fun.
