(fan game) life is strange: lost and found!!!!!
hey guys!
so i've been planning a sort of visual novel game recently which will build on a python game that i made that allows you to go to blackwell and meet a bunch of characters :) it would include a lot of choices and consequences -- a bit like Love is Strange! i love that game but i wanted to avoid something too similar, so here's the general idea for mine:
play as a student in blackwell at the start of the new school year -- everyone else is new, so you can make friends and meet a bunch of people!
the core characters you could meet would be max, chloe, rachel, kate, warren and victoria, though if i finish, i might add more people! :) [such as steph and dana]
the first week is composed of a few different subjects which you get to try out, and work with a partner (of your choice!!!) to complete your lesson tasks
there's a prom coming up in a couple of days! you get to ask a character if they'd like to go with you :)
since it's just me working on it as a fun project, it's a little less ambitious than Love is Strange, haha :D but i hope it'll be fun to play when complete! also your choices totally impact your outcome ^^ the next couple of months are unfortunately horrendously busy but i hope i can find time to work on it, and i'll post updates!
lo and behold, the game so far. it looks like a mess because it is! i'm just using images from google (the text box is from animal crossing) for now to figure out the story haha :D
bonus: a kate marsh sprite! :)
... okay in retrospect i gotta resize the sprites somehow... this girl fills like the whole damn screen
(if anyone is wondering i did change the title since 'welcome to blackwell' is also the name of an official LiS book you can buy haha :))
small update! i haven't had as much time to work on it as i'd like, but i still got somewhere :) i was mostly just trying to compile and draw the sprites for now... i figured out how to do composite images, which is great because i can save each expression and outfit separately so i don't have to add like a hundred combinations for each character.
oh, and here's chloe! this is at the start of the game, but i decided to include her little blue tuft because i love how it looks :D
you'd be surprised at how crazy the code gets. but i learned some things, so it's pretty cool! now i'll start chipping away at the story, and variations of the sprites.

i've been writing my visual novel script code in google sheets ad of late and wanted an easy way to export it, but i'd be happy if others could make use of this code too ^^🪻🌾

Here’s a game I’ve been working on all weekend for the Ludum Dare 72 hour game jam challenge. I decided to stick with what I know and make a visual novel. I’m better at art than programming. Though Ren’py is pretty easy to use.
I had fun making even though it was frustrating at times. Go check it out.
Now that I’ve actually made a visual novel with my own art I want to make more. Ones that I can spend more than just a weekend on so it actually comes out much better.
Hello everyone! I would like to know if any well experienced renpy coders would like to help and collaborate on this project I started for my senior thesis in college! The video I'm sharing is the trailer for the visual novel game I'd like to create, but there's a lot more animation going on than a regular visual novel. I started my own Renpy project, but as I am completely new to everything, I'm finding it challenging to carry out my full vision. (Devlog #1 ? I guess?) hi haven't posted in a bit, also haven’t drawn much to post; but I’ll post this since I talked about it on twitter briefly
been working on a visual novel for the past month! It’s only going to be a short one but it does have a romance option subplot, your companions (and romance options) in the story are Desmond (the guy in green) and Leonard (the one with the red cape)

Hey! I joined this year’s O2A2 Visual Novel Jam out of... well honestly curiosity and inspiration. For those who aren’t familiar with the nature of this game jam is that the challenge is to make a game with only one of any asset (with some lenience).
My submission is a very short dating-sim style game called ‘Strange Screentime : Alphur’, you download an anonymous chat program called ‘Alphur’ and meet a demon who is fascinated by humans, but has never met one himself.
I made this game in about 5 days (not including idea development and general planning), so it’s not long but I did try my best to make with what I was able to!

It's O2A2 visual novel jam time again! O2A2 is a visual novel jam with strict limitations on assets and 1000 words, all to be made within 10 days.
This year the game I've made for it is a short romance horror called "Deathless Wish".
Featuring point-and-click gameplay, you help Jarred decipher the letter sent to him by his lover, Lauthis. But here's the thing... Lauthis has been dead for two years.
I had fun making this game and hope people have fun playing it, albeit short, but sweet.

Ever since he was young, Riley knew that he wasn't normal. Psychiatrists tried to give him every diagnosis under the sun, peers looked at him with fear and disgust, and his mother literally hung herself in his bedroom. Mothers of normal kids don't do that.
But as a young adult, Riley's beginning to turn a new leaf for himself. His best friend Amber is the most cheerful person on the planet, his coworker Ollie is pretty cool, and he even has an apartment! That means something in this economy.
But one day at work, Riley finds himself with a strange book;Â It calls out to him, alters his perception of reality, and it looks brand new despite the contents being at least a few hundred years old.
Riley has found himself one of the few copies of what's known as The Doctrine, a book filled with demonic secrets, satanic rituals, and most importantly the secret to resurrecting the dead, and he plans to use it for his mother.
It's exactly what she deserves.

That's My Boy is a visual novel, but doesn't center on romance. The main story is a tale of horrific traumas and a victim's gruesome outlets.
That being said, there are two potential love interests in the game: Faust, a flesh and soul-eating demon with a demented sense of humor, and Amber, Riley's bubbly best friend with a brain as big as her personality who also has a few secrets of her own...
The game largely falls under the slasher genre, with elements of demonic, supernatural, and analog horror.
Grab onto your axes, friends, and get ready to enter a bloodbath, because Riley won't stop until he has what he wants, and Faust is hungry...
