Small Update! I Haven't Had As Much Time To Work On It As I'd Like, But I Still Got Somewhere :) I Was

small update! i haven't had as much time to work on it as i'd like, but i still got somewhere :) i was mostly just trying to compile and draw the sprites for now... i figured out how to do composite images, which is great because i can save each expression and outfit separately so i don't have to add like a hundred combinations for each character.

oh, and here's chloe! this is at the start of the game, but i decided to include her little blue tuft because i love how it looks :D

you'd be surprised at how crazy the code gets. but i learned some things, so it's pretty cool! now i'll start chipping away at the story, and variations of the sprites.

so i've been planning a sort of visual novel game recently which will build on a python game that i made that allows you to go to blackwell and meet a bunch of characters :) it would include a lot of choices and consequences -- a bit like Love is Strange! i love that game but i wanted to avoid something too similar, so here's the general idea for mine:

play as a student in blackwell at the start of the new school year -- everyone else is new, so you can make friends and meet a bunch of people!

the core characters you could meet would be max, chloe, rachel, kate, warren and victoria, though if i finish, i might add more people! :) [such as steph and dana]

the first week is composed of a few different subjects which you get to try out, and work with a partner (of your choice!!!) to complete your lesson tasks

there's a prom coming up in a couple of days! you get to ask a character if they'd like to go with you :)

since it's just me working on it as a fun project, it's a little less ambitious than Love is Strange, haha :D but i hope it'll be fun to play when complete! also your choices totally impact your outcome ^^ the next couple of months are unfortunately horrendously busy but i hope i can find time to work on it, and i'll post updates!

lo and behold, the game so far. it looks like a mess because it is! i'm just using images from google (the text box is from animal crossing) for now to figure out the story haha :D

bonus: a kate marsh sprite! :)

... okay in retrospect i gotta resize the sprites somehow... this girl fills like the whole damn screen

(if anyone is wondering i did change the title since 'welcome to blackwell' is also the name of an official LiS book you can buy haha :))

HI!! AHH i saw your lis text based game and i was wondering, what fork is? I tried searching but I couldn't find it and i was looking forward to playing it!

also, since it's open world, i was curious if your game follows the same plot as the og game with a twist? can you customize your character or, even romance? its all so interesting and exciting to see how you'll execute it kfjgfkjgfkjgfj

so... i just attached the image and the quality obliterated! but you can SORT of see a green button in the top right, that's the fork button.

i am also really sorry if youre having issues playing with it!! the website changed its system so you have to do all of this just to play the game lol :) i've been searching for alternate websites for a while now so i haven't really been working on it a lot, but i still love to think of it hahah!!

i was planning to have a sort of 'prom' ending when you can ask a character if they want to go with you and you can choose outfits, blah blah blah...

and yeah! i would love to add more customisation and all that, my plan was to make the core game and then continue adding characters and customisation like that :D but again, i gotta find a better site!

homeless woman from LiS spotted????

i was just playing before the storm episode 3 and the nurse working at the hospital looks identical to the homeless woman! she told max that she 'married dumb, made mistakes, got cheated out of my savings, lost my home' to end up homeless, so this could have happened after we see her here - or this could just be a very similar-looking model!

edit: just saw this post that said the exact same thing! it's cool that someone else noticed it :D

does anyone else feel a little disturbed when corporations use the pronoun 'we'... like why are you a hive mind
