Been waiting to see this in person for almost a year. It finally arrived today. Beautiful printing.
Just this morning, an extended edit of my comic “As Before, So Behind,” about the passing of our son Rónán was published online at The Rumpus. I felt it necessary to do this, to grow the perspective of our experience beyond the borders of a conversation between myself and my son, and explore the interconnectedness of things, past and present, whole and broken. The piece resumes a format more in keeping with the print version seen in The Nib magazine, which I feel is easier to manage visually.
I understand that in offering this work up again, in particular to those who have already read it, I am asking a great deal, but I wanted you to know that this other version exists, and that its purpose is as much to speak to you, the living, as it was in its first incarnation, intended to speak both to and for the dead.

ALWCA: politically correct
this was the poem published in A Luxury We Cannot Afford, a 2014 poetry anthology edited by Joshua Ip and Christine Chia! I’m quite sure… I can post my own work 2 years after it has been published… hahaha. anyway you can buy it here for S$19! (bit pricey I know) (but hey I don’t make the rules) (I really don’t) (please buy it it has poems that are way better than mine)
he savours the taste of the words on his tongue– sugar-coated extravagance, chocolate fondue, opulent red wine; but too much sugar ruins you. and poetry, he tells himself, is not pragmatic: not the sharp bite of the economy, the crunch of success, the gristle of globalisation. this is not what they need. so he takes a deep breath. steps onto the podium. counts to three, and swallows.

written after listening to the stories of the migrant women at the shelter which houses domestic helpers who ran away from their employers.

an old memory: my neighbour steals the corn cobs from my house, I steal the rambutans from his tree. we both know of this and never breathe a word about it. but when he tells my father, I laugh about it anyway. but this is behind closed lids a new memory: in this foreign land, I do not steal anything. yet they call me a thief, a liar, say a disease is living here. I cannot tell my father. I do not dare to tell my father.

the weather here is hot, it is like Indonesia. 9.33 pm you are older, so take care of ahmad, make sure he is okay in school. mummy loves u all 9.35 pm - yes, things here are more expensive. I went to their supermarket today. 10.02 pm don’t worry abt me, just take care of the children. I will take care too. 10.05 pm the boss keeps scolding me, she called me a stupid bitch Delete draft? Cancel | OK my employer keeps giving me meat, but she knows i don’t eat meat Delete draft? Cancel | OK i am very scared that my employer will report me to my agency Delete draft? i. tomorrow we will be in a foreign land for the first time. you tell me it will be okay, that it will be good for our families – but I can see the sleepless nights underneath your eyes, the worry creasing your forehead. I want to tell you it will be okay, too. ii. tomorrow we will live in different houses, with different people. I am happy. I am afraid. I hope the two of us will be okay. iii. my boss has been kind to me. she gives me money for my off days and tells me I don’t have to return it. I wish I could tell you this in person, but you have not been picking up my calls, or answering my messages. I am happy. I am scared for you. iv. what happened to you? when did you become this meek? why does your voice tremble when you say you are fine? why do you say you are fine? why do you lie? v. today I held you in my arms and watched you cry for the first time in years. I do not understand how someone could be so cruel they broke your spirit when nothing else would. I do not know how to tell you it will be okay.

Narcissa? His little Princess would turn against the family she finally found after living all her life in uncertainty, questioning her affiliation, only to ensure he won't ever be separated from his twin. [Book: Hogwarts' Princess]
Cassia? His spiky little Flower would ruin herself even more, even after promising herself she'd survive for him, if it meant her Sun would never be separated from his mother. [Book: His courage, her ambition]
Lyra? His little weird one, his one and only detective would give herself up without a doubt to the government, if it meant her hackerman was finally, after so long in suffer, feeling loved. [Book: The afterfire]
Lilith? His favorite human girl would give up her body, only if it meant their souls could finally have their first hug. [Book: Her, him and a book]
Aviana? His Firebirdie would stay stuck in an universe that isn't hers yet excepts so much of her, if it meant her dumbass stays alive after the greatest war the kingdoms has ever witnessed, even though she knows they'd never hold each other as lovers. [Book: We'll never find it, will we?]

A dark fantasy novella in which a mercenary is hired to hunt down a necromancer. Marcella Lothaire is a mersinos, looking for work. When she stumbles upon the ancient town of Atavis, she discovers a violent witch has been sending her beasts to attack the town each night. Marcella sees the opportunity in this vile bloodshed and pays a visit to the local leader, a cruel and greedy man who will pay her a hefty sum to dispatch the witch. The promise of gold and danger is all the mersinos needs to hear. She has burned many bridges to gather the wealth she needs to go home again with her head held high, but the witch will not be claimed easily. Will Marcella claim her bounty, or be devoured by the witch of the ruins?

My Game is finally alive!
This is the final piece created for the graduation show and my final major project. In the end there are still many things I wished that I could have added but time wise weren’t able too. This project simply sparked my imagination from the moment I started working on it and I image there always to be something to work on. Which I plan on doing! Adding more objects, animations and even room! Perhaps even an introduction to the characters while you play the game or figure out how to do a logbook that remembers the clues you found. There is just so much to add and it can only get better.
Really enjoyed this project and I am excited about sharing it and keep working on it.
