You know what would have been funny in season 5 of Lucifer? instead of Michael being a complete bastard to his identical twin because he’d an evil dick, he’s actually just trying really, really hard to reconnect to his brother, but he doesn’t understand emotions or humans (or his siblings) at all and goes about trying to get Lucifer’s attention in all the wrong ways (all those times that some disaster happened that Lucifer was blamed for? actually Michael).
So, like, in that fight scene at the precinct in season 5 (i think, haven't actually got there yet) Lucifer demands to know why Michael caused all these problems and Michael completely sincerely and with an adorable confused head tilt asks “How else was I supposed to get your attention?”
Cue Amenadiel and Lucifer dragging Michael to Linda for some much needed intervention.
Slight add-on to my earlier “Michael is actually trying to get Lucifer’s attention when acting like a Jerk” Season 5 AU
While Lucifer and Amenadiel are suffering a blue-screen of confusion, and Michael is trying to explain that he wouldn’t have actually hurt Lucifer’s human pet (Chloe), just wanted to annoy Lucifer enough to get him in the same room so they could talk for the first time in centuries, their Dad comes and hears Michael’s genuine “I don’t understand how but apparently my actions upset you? I really didn’t mean it,” apology, and decides that Michael needs to go back home. Immediately.
Lucifer, realizing that his brother’s social skills have seriously tanked in the couple million years he’s been gone, and recognizing that look in his father’s eyes decides, nope, Michael’s an idiot but he’s *my* idiot and he’s staying with me, and I’m not going to let him get in trouble because he has the emotional understanding of a rock. (Cheerfully ignoring that until meeting Linda and the rest of his humans, Lucifer was in the same boat.)
Lucifer makes the mistake of saying this out loud. Michael gets offended and they start to argue, during which Amenadiel asks if they are going to cause the destruction of another planet and is ignored. It’s only when they start arguing about which of them is older that God intervenes, reminding them that he’s there and also that they were created at the same time and neither one is older than the other.
Eventually Lucifer is able to get Michael to actually agree to a therapy session, but only once he’s allowed to cuddle Charlie (turns out, Michael’s rather starved for any type of affection, Charlie isn’t scared by him at all, and no, Michael did not give Charlie a cold, he was just taunting Amenadiel).
5 times Lucifer tried and failed to protect Michael’s virginity. They can be from different universes, AU, gender swap.

The way Tom Ellis can portrayed 2 characters with 2 different personalities always amazes me. You'd definitely know, even without the scar and without paying attention to his crooked shoulder and accent, he was portraying Michael instead of Lucifer. The gestures and facial expressions is everything. The different emotions that both characters have were conveyed flawlessly. Tom really understood the assignment.
