I ended up drawing my two friends and myself as the Heathers~ God I love this musical

The way she died(Heathers story)

The way she died..... I wasn't expecting it, it was all so...... sudden.

I had handed her the cup of the "hangover cure"

At least, that's what I thought.

She drank the liquid, instead of throwing up like I thought, she got up instead. She seemed....... surprised. She clenched her neck.

She was trying to say something...... but she couldn't get it out.

Before I could do anything... she grabbed me. Saying her final words.

Chandler:"Corn.... Nuts!"

She told me. Blue tongue and all. She fell hitting the glass table

I was so surprised. I was shocked.

I ran over to the cup..... only to find out the "hangover cure" wasn't a cure. It was a death sentence.

A blue substance............

Drain cleaner.

I looked at J.D.

Then turned back to heathers dead body. I felt bad. Guilt rushed through me.... but I technically didn't kill chandler.

I picked up the wrong cup, that's for sure! But..... I just wasnt expecting her to die....

I have extra heathers headcanons, so here's some extra junk!

.Sometimes the girls go out for fresh air, so when they do, they tend to cruise around on some different vehicles.

Mac rides on rollerskates

And veronica rides a skateboard

.When the Heathers + veronica gets pets, their pets would be:

Mac has a pet bird(I don't know what type she'd have though)

Duke has a pet dog names duke(because, why not?) And a pet tortoise

Veronica has gecko(ig it would be specifically a leopard gecko)

.All of them can sing very well(As well as the rest of the gang(Martha, Ram, Kurt, J.d., and Betty, though she isn't really in the picture ig...)

So, chandler and veronica have matching axoloti plushies. Ones red and the others blue(obviously).

Chandler:"Veronica! Look!"

Chandler said with excitement in her voice. Both Chandler and veronica were out buying stuff. They were currently in the toys aisle of a store. Veronica didn't get why, considering this is somewhere Chandler would definitely not be in, but she wasn't complaining...

Veronica:"Yeah chandler? What is it?" She question, walking towards chandler.

Chandler:"look at these cute plushies!" She said staring at them, "Let's get them!"

Veronica looked at the axoloti plsuhies, "uh, alright"

Chandler:"you ok? Do you not want the plsuhies?" She looked at veronica with sad puppy eyes.

Veronica:"no! It's not that... I just.. wasn't expecting you wanted to get matching plushies"

Chandler:"well they're red and blue.. so... let's go buy them!" She picked up the two plushies and grabbed Veronica's arm towards the cashiers.

I've thought of what if the characters from heathers, made heathers the musical and movie. This might not make sense.... but I do this with different types of fandoms where the characters make the movie or show that they're in.

Just wanted to say that... for some reason...

I was watching some stuff and got an idea of Chandler being Veronica's butler. Like if they swapped lives for the day. But that kind of goes with my whole Veronica's idea, where instead of heathers it's Veronica's. I won't explain the whole story of how that would happen cause I don't feel like it. But just know I have this story of Veronica's.

but for now, I guess I'd say the roles:

Chandler- as veronica(of course)

Duke- as Jd

Mac- as Martha

Veronica- as chandler

Then they'll be like two other Veronica's to complete the clique..

..........I don't know how I'd put all the other characters in place cause some might disagree. But that's what I have. Maybe some other time I'll explain Veronica's. Just maybe...

I made up next generation kids in my mind for the heathers. I kind of thought I was the only one who made next generation kids for the heathers until I saw some post for it.

Sooooo, let me give you a tour!:

Since I ship chanduke, they'd have a daughter named: Madeline Chandler.

Was gonna give them a second daughter but I wasn't sure if I should.

Madeline would look more like chandler, she'd have strawberry blonde hair, but with brunette streaks in it. Her personality is a bit more like dukes(I don't have her personality down yet but I have to think of something). Madeline would most likely have anxiety sometimes. She's not as fierce as chandler but can sometimes be.

Since I ship Mcnamaywer, they'd have a daughter named: Camila sawyer.

I really wasn't sure if that would be her official name, but I just went with it(I don't know if I'll change her name in the future). I also was gonna give them a second daughter as well but I ain't too sure yet.

Shes alot like veronica. She's always there for Madeline when she's down. She also will protect Madeline at any cost. She's also pretty bright like mcnamara. So she can be energetic time to time(but Madeline's pretty energetic too)

Together Madeline and Camila ride skateboards together when they're outside and go on wild adventures.

Since I ship kram, they'd have a daughter named: Charlie sweeney, and would probably also have a son named Denvor sweeney.

People might not agree with me on this because of how kurt and ram are, and I dont blame you. But I couldn't resist giving them a child for some reason. But ig in my universe of heathers, kurt and ram would be good. So... yeah. Don't come after me!

Charlie would be athletic of course, she loves to play tons of sports and sometimes might tease Camila and Madeline about certain stuff. 🤔 she'd probably think Madeline and Camila are gay for each other-

Denvor would be Charlie's little brother. He's acts charming and is a but more like Heather chandler. Which ram was confused about- he did enjoy hanging out with Heather chandler alot, so I guess so.... he also tends to get into ALOT of DANGER-

So like you guys do know that Veronica stated that she and Martha have been childhood friends, and that Martha and Duke have also been childhood friends, and that would mean that at least once the three of them would have met together, and Veronica would've personally known Duke, right...?

none of the parents because i barely actually see them included in any fan works. was contemplating putting kurt/ram in one spot because they're just the same person in my mind (i don't like kurt and ram) but that's just me and i decided to be fair

duke being a victim and duke being an abuser are statements that can coexist

heather duke is undeniably a victim of heather chandler's abusive behaviour and her treatment of mcnamara is intentionally written to be a continuation of that chain of harm. this should be base-level media literacy. you don't have to woobify or demonize heather duke to make her interesting, buddy.

we know very little about chandler's upbringing that we could use to make a conclusive statement about why she is the way she is but it's not hard to see a lot of the other contributing factors. she's the victim of a misogynistic and objectifying culture that forces young girls into unrealistic roles and has to live her life as a glowing, inhuman paragon as opposed to a breathing human. heather chandler is not hot shit. she thinks she is and everyone else feeds into that façade but heather chandler is fundamentally not hot shit. the two-dimensional writing of her as just 'the mythic bitch' that i see in the fanbase is you falling for the façade that's meant to be deconstructed by the viewer.

the mirror scene in the movie is one of the most important insights into chandler's characterisation

everything about this shot is perfection to me and it's only about five or so seconds. we've just seen chandler be unambiguously pressured into giving an older stranger oral sex on-screen, which i should clarify is sexual assault. and to see her acknowledge behind closed doors the reality of her situation and the disgust she holds for herself and the things she thinks she 'has to do' to maintain popularity? and to have those feelings conveyed through no words, but merely through her spitting at her own reflection with such anger in her eyes? this film just gets you, man.

it's one of the many, many instances within the movie that intentionally calls out the normalisation of sexual coercion in the 1980s high school environment. which, going into my next topic...

more people need to realise how much light the film sheds on teenage sexuality

yes, i understand this is a wholly uncomfortable topic. it's not something people want to think about nor is it something people want to portray. it happens, though, it happened then and it happens now, and it's a legitimate and dangerous issue.

i see two sides of the fanbase in regards to this. the half that intentionally ignores any and all references to the subject and continues to treat characters like kurt & ram as comedic relief and not the actual rapists they are in canon, and the 'proshipper' half that glorifies the behaviour that both the film and the musical explicitly condemn. both of you lack media literacy.

mcnamara's rape by ram is one of the primary examples of this. i see nobody exploring this in the fanbase at all, and when it is mentioned it's played for a fucking joke.

sexual harassment and assault is one of the most prolific and horrific issues amongst teenagers, particularly ones around the age range shown in the film. (16-17). i have experienced this firsthand.

you are allowed to dislike certain facets of the musical without calling it the worst thing to ever exist

i love the heathers musical. i love the soundtrack, the costume design, i love some of the characterisation choices they made.

i also detest parts of it for what it does to the base cast. the layers it gives to jd are great, but making him so sympathetic and pitiable undermines the point the film is trying to make about patriarchy and manipulation. making heather duke a remorseless, snide asshole from day one whilst ignoring her victim status and downplaying her bulimia pisses me the fuck off. (i think it should be fairly obvious by now who my favourite character is)

heather mcnamara is not a saint.

i love mac. she's a great character, and yes i feel sorry for her. i think in terms of the main cast she's one of the more moral figures. this does not mean she is an innocent, cinnamon roll who can do no wrong.

heather mcnamara's main character flaw is cowardice. she goes along with the bullying and manipulation that happens around her regardless of her own personal objections, and is more than willing to kiss up to her superiors to evade punishment. she's well aware of her status as chandler's favourite 'pet' and is more than okay with engaging in the dirtier aspects of her 'job' as a popular girl. in the movie, mcnamara is the one who slips the forged note onto martha's tray and she arguably laughs the hardest about it.

yes, mcnamara is a good person. yes, she deserves the happy ending she gets, and she deserves to be able to work through those flaws and her trauma. she is still guilty.

betty finn and peter dawson are overlooked characters, no doubt because of the fandom's focus on the musical

case in point. i think we should include them more, betty especially. they're interesting people. flesh out westerburg beyond the three heathers & veronica.

Heather Duke Appreciation Post

I'm going through a Heathers (the musical) phase right now, and I just want to talk a little bit about my favorite Heather: Heather Duke.

I will preface this by saying that she did a lot of cruel things. Bullying Veronica and especially Martha, lashing out at Heather McNamara, etc. is ~not cool~.

But, but, but...

Just like McNamara, she has some stuff going on beneath the surface.

We all know that Heather Chandler pushes her around disproportionately, and that she becomes a tyrant after Chandler's death. People say Duke's tyranny after replacing Chandler is motivated by envy toward the other Heathers, but I think that's only part of it. I think her actions are also fueled by wrath. Now that she isn't under Chandler's thumb, she can lash out and let everyone else know just how that mistreatment felt. McNamara faces the brunt of the abuse because (1) she was not abused as much by Chandler, and (2) she just stood by as Chandler bullied Duke. Duke was resentful of McNamara's "favorite" status and refusal to defend her, so when she got the chance, she didn't hesitate to knock McNamara down a peg. It's not right, but the rationalization is there.

The adoption of red into Duke's wardrobe, whether it's just the scrunchie or a full outfit change, is also a slight to Chandler just as much as it is a symbol of power. She gets to wear Chandler's favorite color--her favorite color as well, if that detail from the movie has carried over--and the former queen of the Heathers can do nothing about it. No one is there to tell her to shut up. If there's anything I like about the West End production, it's "Never Shut Up Again." This new song takes Duke's vendetta against Chandler and runs with it.

It's also important to consider her implied insecurities.

In "Beautiful," Veronica mentions that Duke has breast implants, courtesy of her mother. Implants can be a purely cosmetic choice, but I don't think that's the case here. Take into account Duke's struggles with bulimia, and her remark that Veronica could "stand to lose a few pounds." Veronica, depending on the production, is either thin, average, or only slightly on the thicker side. Duke is projecting her weight insecurities onto Veronica. She is deeply self-conscious about her appearance and has a skewed image of what an "acceptable" physique is. Even her childhood friendship with Martha could be interpreted this way; she could be ashamed of it due to Martha's unpopularity, but also Martha's weight. She doesn't want to be associated with the word "fat" in any form--"curvy," yes, but not "fat." It's reasonable to think the implants are another step in achieving such impossible standards. Plus, she's seventeen. She may be devious and well-read, but she's still a child. She's sensitive to her peers' praise and opinions, even (or especially) as a member of the most popular clique at Westerburg. A rich, insecure child will probably do stupid things to impress her peers, up to and including getting illegal surgery.

In conclusion, Heather Duke is a wicked, tragic monster. She is the bully who was bullied. She isn't an "uwu soft bean who did no wrong." Every Heather has done some messed up stuff, and Duke is a prime example. But the insecurity, the resentful rage... That is her damage.

Veronica's actions mimicking Heather is really interesting. Because yeah it's showing that she's becoming more and more like Heather but also because Veronica moves first.

Their movements weren't fully synchronized, Veronica would fold her arms and Heather would copy her. Because yes, Veronica is becoming like Heather was, but she hasn't picked up on it, it was Martha who would've seen it, and of course Heather did too. Heather was mocking her, proving she had become just like what she once hated. Her "let me sit at your table just once, no talking necessary" had turned her into the same person but worse.

Heather never thought she was a good person. She knew who she was, she knew what she did but she was proud of it. Veronica didn't notice (and she never really did, it ended with her blaming JD for everything) and always believed she was a good person. She thought she was better than Heather and much better than JD but that way of thinking was what made her just like them. Heather mimics Veronica's movements because she can see what Veronica is like, because she could always see what she was like.

And Martha would notice too. She may not be able to see the ghosts but she was looking right where she was standing and I think that shows how she was seeing Heather in that moment, instead of Veronica (especially considering Heather stood directly inbetween them multiple times). This wasn't her best friend, this wasn't the girl who was always supportive for her. This was the girl who had helped her bully, the girl who tricked her into thinking Ram loved her.

You can see her trying to look around Heather but then Veronica starts acting just like Heather, and Heather stands directly next to her, if she was physically there Martha would be looking right at her.

And lastly, Veronica moving first shows her being worse than Heather. This isn't her copying her to fit in, this is her covering up murdering three people. And it isn't just to protect JD, she doesn't want to get in trouble either. Heather is mean, and she isn't a good person but neither is Veronica and this scene and a few others really highlight that she is not any better than the people she kills.

This is showing the effect of Veronica's actions and showing what she did to Heather as well as Heather's effect on Veronica.
