A/N: The parts will follow chronological order but won’t be exact replicas of the episodes used (it’s a real pain). Also there will be inconsistencies as I am still new to the fandom, I only started getting into Star Wars like 2 months before Rise of Skywalker came out. So please be gentle!!!

Summary: The Child wasn’t the first time Mando broke a contract to save someone. You were the first, presumed dead thanks to help after he was supposed to capture you. Now, you work under a false name with Mando to pay off your dues. However, as time drags on and he breaks another Guild contract, buried feelings between you two bubble to the surface.

Warnings: Violence, sarcasm, some pretty spicy angst

TRIGGER WARNING: This chapter alludes to different types of abuse. Viewer discretion is advised.

Against the harsh winds of Hoth, your wisps of breath seemed like a whisper. Pulling your hood further over your head in attempt to block out the cold, you trudge on through the many feet of snow before you. On the run, a bandit, an escapee, a one way gate to a mighty sum. That’s all you were to anyone anymore. But who were you before that?

You were nothing.

During the Siege of Mandalore, you were separated from your parents, and quickly snatched away.

Dropped on the doorstep of a ring fighter, your life was nothing but pain and struggle. From the moment you could walk, you were trained with blasters, snipers, sabers, any weapon imaginable. You learned within days that losing was not an option. Not unless you wanted another slew of scars to appear upon your back. Not unless you wanted to be locked into the room with the opposing handler you had lost too.

You couldn’t take it anymore.

You broke out from it all, trying to kill your handler in the process. Unfortunately, you had to choose between your freedom and killing the bastard that took it in the first place. For years, you kept bounty hunters off your trail, habiting the most desolate of planets. With each day passing by, the sum would get higher, the more hunters sniffing you out.

That’s what lead you here, on the frozen, desolate rock known as Hoth. Bundled in Gherlian fur lined coat and pants, you found refuge in a small cave that blocked you from the bitter snap of the wind. Exhaling once more, you watched as the frozen air quickly disappear. Why couldn’t it take you with it?

You pull out what’s left of your rations and water from your pouch in an effort to find your fire starter. Except it wasn’t there.

“Haar’chak!” you exclaim in Mando’a, your mother tongue.

A subtle crunch in the snow reverberates into your ear, making you want to freeze. You resist the urge, to hesitate was weak. Instead, you feign innocence in trying to find the stolen starter. Really, you were slipping out your dull blade, ready for the attack.

“I haven’t heard that language in a long time” a modulated voice says from behind you, holding a very warm blaster to your head.

Without a stutter, you spin on your ankle and stand, smacking the blaster away. Still holding the blade, you press it right under the masked menaces helmet, where the only skin you could see that was exposed. His hand quickly grabs the dagger, twisting your wrist to turn you around.

But you were smarter. As he spins you, you send your ankle back, hitting him right where the sun don’t shine. A loud groan translates through the helmet with static, but he doesn’t back down. Wrapping his arm around your neck, he holds you close to his body, grabbing a knife of his own.

“Give up,” his static filled voice says.

“Hmm, no,” you whisper despite the lack of air, sending your head into his face and escaping his grip.

As he recollects himself, you kick the fallen blaster in front of yourself, bending down, seizing it, and aiming it directly for his helmet. But your steady hand becomes shaken as you get the full view of your attempted captor.

“You’re a Mandalorian,” you say.

“You’re a smart one, aren’t you?” he spits, sarcasm laced in his tone.

Knowing that the helmet is made of Beskar, you drop the now useless blaster and sigh.

“I thought a man of your honor would leave me alone,”

“I’m a part of the Guild. I don’t ask questions.”

“Maybe you should,” you reply, an intense glare in his direction sent from your eyes.

“Look, lady, I’m just here for the money. I don’t care about your life story,” the Mandalorian says as he pulls a pair of cuffs from his belt.

With a sigh, you hold your wrists out like reflex, ready to be trapped once again.

“How much do they want for me now?” you ask as he clasps the metal tightly around your wrists.

“Why do you need to know?”

“Don’t you think a girl wants to know her worth?”

“You’re mouthy,”

“You’re clueless,”

The Mandalorian releases a harsh sigh before pushing you out from the crevice that had protected you both from Hoth’s winds. Within a matter of minutes, you were on the ship and being shoved towards the carbonite freezer. You remember the tool all too well, being familiar with it’s affects. Without any control, you feel the cold touch of fear trace the scars along your spine, making you shiver. The masked menace looks towards you in question. You keep your line of sight forward, swallowing the bile that had piled in your throat from nerves with force.

Unexpectedly, he turns you towards some spare seats and sits you down into one. He straps you in, avoiding eye contact through his visor at all costs.

“While you’re taking me to that bastard,” you mumble. “do me a favor? Look up (Y/N) (Y/L/N).”

He still avoids eye contact, pulling a way and climbing up the ladder nearby to what you assumed was the cockpit. You feel the ship roar to life and all you can do is lean your head against the metal wall. It was going to be a short ride through hyperspace, so you let your eyes flutter close, gaining any sleep you could for the torture ahead.

image

You’re awoken by the rustling of the Mandalorian grabbing weapons from a closet close to you. The ship’s loud thrusters had drawn quiet and the knawing pain at the pit of your gut told you to run. But you know you were stuck, captured, doomed.

The Mandalorian tugs you from the seat with a rough hand and shoves you out of the ship, stepping onto the planet’s surface you swore to never step on again. He directs you through the crowd of hunters and beggars alike, heading towards the building you knew was coming.

As you approached it, he raps on the door the secret code you had memorized from years ago. The door is opened within seconds and you both are ushered inside, uncontrollable tears filling your eyes as you stare down to hall to your owner.

“I told you...I own you, bitch,” his voice scratched, scarring your ears just like the real ones adorning your body.

“Slanar at haran,” you whisper like poison dripping from your lips.

‘Go to hell,’ the Mandalorian stationed by your side translated to himself.

“You’ll pay for that...” he seethes, a disgusting smile breaking the many wrinkles on his face. “Why don’t you show your Mandalorian friend a good time, as a bonus to your return home?”

You want to vomit right there, a violent shiver over taking your body at the thought. But then the Mandalorian surprises you.

“I don’t want your payment, Arro,” he says calmly, without a quiver in his voice.

“Are you sure? She is quite talented, Mando,” Arro replies with the same disgusting smile.

As Arro speaks, you feel Mando’s hand slip across to your hands bound behind you and unlock them. Adrenaline fills your veins in response.

“I want her,” he replies coldly.

The cool metal of a spare blaster embraces your hand. It makes it nearly impossible to suppress the grin bursting through onto your face, imagining Arro’s slumped body on his seedy throne.

“Well you have her, Mando,” Arro replies, his grin becoming disgustingly excitable as he stands.

“Not like that, demagolka,” he says, quickly aiming his blaster at him.

‘Damn,’ you thought, following his lead and aiming your blaster. “he really just called him a real life monster.’

The soldiers surrounding you both quickly aimed their own blasters at you. With a small chuckle, you quickly turn in unison with the Mandalorian, taking out the soldiers with the ease of a trigger beneath your finger.

Out of the corner of your eye, you see Arro trying to escape from your wrath against him. You quickly aim, but couldn’t find the motivation to pull the trigger while pointed at his head. No...that monster didn’t deserve something as sweet as death. Instead, you aimed lower, quickly shooting both of his knees out from under him. You swore you heard Mando whisper something, but all you could see was red.

Walking over to the whimpering man, you kicked him in the ribs hard enough to hear some cracking beneath your force. Kneeling in front of his face, you turn your head and force him to look at you.

“Come for me...and my name will be engraved across your face,” you whisper menacingly.

Standing back up, you kick him hard enough to send him into a state of unconsciousness. Turning back to the Mandalorian, you noticed he hadn’t moved one inch.

“Vor entye,” you express your thanks, expecting him to leave after you admission.

“C’mon, we should get to the ship before more of his Imps come back,”

Without another word, he walks out the door with you following close behind, a confused look scrunching up your face.

Once you returned, the Mandalorian wordlessly closed the doors to the ship behind you. He walks over to another hidden closet, tossing you a new blaster and a newly crafted blade.

“I could use a new partner,” he says without turning towards you.

“I’m gonna need a new name then, Mando,” you reply, looking at the blaster and tucking it into your worn holster.

“Dar’manda,” he states matter of factly, his visor finally pointed towards you. “But I’m still calling you (Y/N).”

The name fit perfectly for you. In Mando’a it meant a state of not being a Mandalorian, not by choice or by being an outsider. Rather, it was to describe one who lost their heritage.

“Yes, sir,” you say out of reflex, something deeply engrained into you thanks to Arro.

“It’s just Mando.”

You simply nod, sheathing your new blade. Mando quickly makes his way over to the ladder braced against one of the walls. Before he fully climbs up, he turns back to you.

“You coming?”

With a soft smirk, you nod, following him into the cockpit.

Part 2 - Two Makes Three

Masterlist

Summary: The Child wasn’t the first time Mando broke a contract to save someone. You were the first, presumed dead thanks to help after he was supposed to capture you. Now, you work under a false name with Mando to pay off your dues. However, as time drags on and he breaks another Guild contract, buried feelings between you two bubble to the surface.

Warnings: More (Y/N) and Mando bickering/sarcasm, some sexual themes, obvious violence

A/N - Sorry for the hiatus! I was having a hard time figuring out what to write about for this chapter. So enjoy the extra long one ahead of you!

-~-

Your and Mando’s latest bounty had gone...awry, to say the least. Little did the two of you expect to have a baby on your hands. You let the 50 year old label deceive you into thinking this was easy. Now you were co - piloting the Razer Crest with a small youngling in your lap. You had to admit, the small green child had begun to grow on you.

“What are you doing you little womp rat?” you whisper softly as you look down at him, receiving a small coo in return.

“(Y/N)...” Mando warns.

“Calm down, metal head. I’m not getting attached, I’m being nice. Look it up sometime,”

A soft breath through the reverberator of the Mandalorian’s helmet is heard in place of his human chuckle. You smirk in return, turning away from your control station to play with the Child.

It had been close to 5 years with Mando, joining him on his bounties. Throughout your time together, you grew closer then some partners might. You trusted each other greatly, watching out for the other every step during a bounty. Sometimes you would watch his six outside of missions, the same being said for the warrior on your behalf. Even though you had never seen his face, never heard his name, you trusted him with your life. You did technically owe your freedom to the ice cold warrior seated to your left.

However, your feelings had quickly changed for him. You couldn’t tell if it was because he was the only guy you had spoken too in depth for a while, or if there was something else attracting you to him. But your feelings almost went to far when the Mudhorn attacked him, threatening his life in the process. You quickly stepped in front of the fallen Mando, only to be saved by the tiny green child with his magic hands.

Mando continually asked why you didn’t listen to him and escape with the bounty. Each time, you refused to respond.

“We’re here,” Mando says as he turns off the main controls to the ship.

Your gut hits the floor as you are forced to place the innocent child in his bassinet, closing the lid. Something about this deal was unbelievably fishy. And you didn’t trust it, the people that wanted the Child, their supposed intentions you weren’t allowed to speak about.

Navigating through the streets of Navarro, the Child’s bassinet in tow, you made your way to the agreed upon rendezvous. Every damn bounty hunter in the vicinity trailed your curvy frame with their hungry eyes. With each wolf whistle and cat call, Mando’s shoulders squared up in their intensity. You assumed it to be protectiveness as that of a sibling, quickly pushing off any thought that it could be jealousy.

You guarded the entrance of the building as Mando disappeared inside with the Child. Keeping your head tilted to the ground so that none of the nearby stormtroopers could see your face. However, through the small space you had given yourself, you could clearly see them, keeping a tight hand on the blaster resting on your hip.

Mando quickly exited the building, payment in hand as you followed him into the crowded city streets. Looking up a bit more now, you looked towards his darkened visor, wishing you could read his facial expressions at the time.

“We did what we had to do,” Mando says, obviously sensing your apprehension.

“Doesn’t mean it was right, Mando,”

He doesn’t respond.

“Meet you back at the ship?” you sigh.

“Yes, ma’am,”

“Stay safe, Mando,”

“You too, Dar’manda,”

With that, you tug your hood further down your head and disappear into the crowd, leaving Mando to his people.

image

You would never admit it, but you already missed the little squirt. His soft cooing and presence was much like your Mandalorian’s, quiet yet comforting. Now all you do is guard the ship, casually flipping your blade in hand with your ears on patrol for any noise.

A soft hiss followed by the soft clanking of boots against metal alerts you to someone’s return. The blade’s handle sits nicely in your palm as you grip it tightly, listening for any clue to who had arrived.

“(Y/N)!” Mando, yells up to you.

“Yeah?!” you yell back, sighing a soft one in relief at his presence and not someone’s ass you had to kick.

No response.

“For the love of-” you mumble to yourself, getting ready to rise from your seat when the familiar Mandalorian mask peeks it’s way through the hole in the wall.

When Mando is fully on board and turns towards you, he freezes, like he’s stunned to see you’ve taken off your top layers. It was a usual thing for you, but you would quickly get it back on before he ever saw you. Through your embarrassment at him seeing...everything, you put on a confident facade.

“If your jaw is open in that tin can you can shut it,” you smirk.

“I thought I told you to guard the ship,”

“And I did, I just got comfortable while doing it”

You grab your vest that lay nearby and slip it on, slipping it over your breast band with ease.

“What’s the next bounty?” you ask as your green leather jacket slips on with ease.

“Some Prince that escaped his bounty,” he sits in his seat, flipping a few switches that bring the control board to life.

You simply nod, helping him with the pre-flight checklist, flipping switches on your end, when you see something out of the corner of your eye. The kid’s ball in Mando’s hand. He gently twists it back onto the lever, getting ready to push off into flight. Your bottom lip traps itself between your teeth, hoping Mando will change his mind.

And he did.

In the blink of an eye, he turns the ship back off. You follow suit, quickly grabbing onto the army green jacket that lay on the seat behind you.

“Joined the Dark side have we, Mando?” you slip the jacket on with ease, securing the weapons within it’s pockets.

“That’s a horrible joke,” he replies, the soft puffs of air that make it through to be translated alerting you to his chuckles.

“But it made you laugh,”

You had him stumped, making Mando choose silence as he stands and grabs his weapons. As he secures them in place, his visor points towards you.

“Let’s go get the kid,”

Within a matter of minutes, you and Mando were quickly making your way through Nevarro’s streets once again. Gently slipping his hand into yours, he pulls you down a dark alleyway, probably leading to some secret entrance you weren’t aware of. You would be lying if you said you didn’t have goosebumps spreading like wildfire up your arms, that you weren’t squeezing his hand to give you a modicum of comfort. But when you turn the last corner, and peer upon a small trash bin your heart plummets.

The Child’s bassinet lay abandoned in the heaps of garbage.

“C’mon,” a static filled voice fills your ears, his hand squeezing yours as he continues to lead you down the alley.

Mando abandons your hand once you stop at a building with roof top access. Without a word said between you, you stand guard of the building while he formulates a plan of what to do. He knew the place best, you trusted him.

Once he returns, he points you in the direction of a door, a small slot for a camera droid completely covered by not abandoned.

“Think you can work your magic?” he whispers just loud enough for his modulator to translate.

“Looks easy enough,”

You walk over to the door as Mando find a place to hide. Once you place yourself in front of the door, you grab your knife just in case and knock on the door. As the droid comes out to scan you, you quickly rip it off it’s base and walk away with grace but speed.

A couple stormtroopers quickly flood the scene but you were already back in the safety of Mando’s presence as you both maneuvered in the alleys once more. He leads you to a small opening, a blank wall to your right that you knew was his focus. Keeping a steady hand hovered over your blaster, you listen for any disturbances coming your way.

Once the beeping began, Mando gently wrapped his arm around your waist, pulling you into his chest as he took cover behind another wall. In a matter of seconds, the wall was blasted open and you were thankful for the orange hues surrounding you to hide your imminent blush.

As he released you from his grip, you readjusted your clothes and you both headed in. The entire way as you searched for the child, you protected each other. He had your back and you had his. And you couldn’t deny, watching him fight like that made you a bit flustered from the distraction.

You fight your way to a lab, blasting the door open to see a weaselly looking doctor and a drone with a needle you didn’t trust. From behind Mando, you lifted your blaster and shot the droid down without a second thought. His helmet turned towards you slightly, and you could tell he was annoyed at how close the shot was to his head. All you could do was offer him a weak smile.

Focusing back on your mission, Mando advanced towards the doctor with his blaster raised as you rushed towards the Child. He was sleeping soundly, god knows what had happened to the little guy. Your heart hurt for him, knowing what it was like to be pushed to your limits and used. Searching the lab, you find a small blanket that you grab quickly. You gently pull him from the machine he was under, wrapping him up to keep him safe and warm.

“What did you do to him?!” you hear Mando yell at the fearful doctor.

“Mando, it doesn’t matter! We got him so let’s go.”

You listened as the man repeated the word ‘please’ like a prayer. Walking over, you gently lay a hand on the outstretched arm of the warrior, giving it a reassuring squeeze to bring him back to you.

Blaster still in hand but arm now relaxed, Mando quickly walks out with you trailing behind, your own blaster at the ready.

You make your way through the base once more, running into more stormtroopers on your way out. The Mandalorian quickly shoots out the lights, gently laying his hand on your lower back to escort you to the cover of shipping boxes that littered the room. As you crouched under them, you looked up at his visor for your next move. A finger to where his lips would be, his hand moving downwards. Stay quiet, stay low. You nod in response.

Without warning, Mando quickly leaves you to protect the sleeping infant in your arms. Peering over the boxes, you watch him quickly shoot down the stormtroopers searching for you in the room. Goddamn, he’s hot when he does that...

“Hey!” a stormtrooper says from behind you.

Quickly, you pull out your knife and stab him in the arm to make him drop his blaster. Before you could do anymore damage, Mando’s spear appears from above you and electrocutes the trooper where he stands.

“You okay?” he asks quickly once the trooper collapsed.

“Yeah, I got distracted by the kid sorry,” you lie.

“It’s fine, let’s just get out of here.”

He holds out a hand which you gratefully take, standing up and continuing to try and escape the maze of a base. As you walk down a hallway, you hear the signature hiss of a door opening behind you. On reflex, you grip your blaster tightly and twist on the heel of your foot. After a few well aimed shots, the stormtrooper falls dead. You hear Mando’s flame thrower cooking another alive. But as you look down, a pair of big brown eyes meets yours drowsy from sleep.

“Shh, it’s okay little one,” you coo.

You run your pointer finger down his small cheek, coaxing him back to sleep as you wait for the sound of collapse from behind you. Once it comes, you quickly turn and resume following Mando.

You’re quickly cornered by some very angry stormtroopers in a larger room. All you can do is hold the Child protectively against your chest, hoping they don’t see your face well beneath your hood. You follow his lead, kneeling to the ground, releasing your weapon.

You knew it wasn’t surrender, rather it was Mando using yet another one of his elaborate weapons to help you escape. For once, you were thankful for all the tricks he had up his sleeve. Quickly returning to your feet, blaster in hand, you make your well deserved escape from the base.

image

Of course they alerted all the hunters in Navarro. You just wished you had more time to escape. Everyone must have been here to corner you, and you knew your time had come. Gently, you switch the Child into his arms, your free hand dropping to your side.

“(Y/N)...”

“Just get the kid back to the ship, I’ll be right behind you,” you whisper.

Before either of you had the chance, however, you were completely surrounded, Greef Karga at the head of the pack. You zone out for most of their conversation, focusing on how many bounty hunters there were instead and how to kill them. There was no way you could take them all down, not on your own. You become desperate, facing the crowd before you.

“Let us pass!”

“I can’t do that Dar’Manda,”

Looking towards Mando, the nod of his head told you of the long battle ahead. Quickly taking refuge in the speeder, you both take many shots at the hunters before you. A few go down before you crash and your partner is forced to use one of his more...formidable weapons. All of it still wasn’t enough, and you were eventually surrounded by gunfire.

You try to ward them off, give Mando time to think a plan through. But as you peek over the slightest bit to get a better shot, someone else’s wizzes by your face, searing the skin close to your eye. Blood pours down your face as you collapse to the ground, holding your face from the pain.

“Cyar’ika!” you hear Mando exclaim in Mando’a over the gunfire, your brain to fuzzy to process the translation.

All you feel beside you is the Child and above you your masked partner as the shootout continues. Looking to your side and above the lip of the speeder, many more warriors that resemble Mando join the fight. But instead of fighting against you, they were fighting for you.

“Is this them?” you ask, your lips trembling from the pain.

“Yes, (Y/N), they’re Mandalorian. Just like you.”

Besides your Mando, you had never met another of your kind that you could remember. Your brain was in awe, your heart swelled at the thought of belonging.

You shakily sit back up, still protected by Mando above you, and grab your blaster once more. With your one good eye, you fire at the other hunters to aid the Mandalorians in their fight to help you.

“Get out of here! We’ll cover you!” one of the warriors spoke to Mando.

“You’ll have to relocate the Covert!”

“This is the Way.”

“This is the Way.”

Looking down towards you, Mando gave you silent permission to follow suit. With a soft nod towards the heavily armored warrior beside the two of you, you reply:

“This is the Way.”

Mando helps you to your feet as you scoop the Child into your arms. Slipping away from the fight, you quickly run into the Razer Crest with him, your mind racing with all that needed to be done to get the hell out of there.

He quickly disappeared into the cockpit as you turned to close the doors, only to be met with Greef Karga and a blaster.

“Hold it, Dar’Manda.”

You glare at him, something he probably couldn’t see from beneath the one side of your hood that hadn’t been burnt to a fringe. For a moment, you realized it didn’t matter if Karga saw who you were. So Dar’Manda took off the hood, the pain of the cloth tearing from your fresh wound making you grit your teeth. (Y/N) (Y/L/N), the assassin that many bounty hunters sought after looked at him now.

And he knew he was in trouble.

“Leave...don’t make this any harder then it needs to be,” you say, your grip on the Child tightening.

“I can’t just leave, you broke the Code!”

“You see, you’re wrong. That’s Mando you’re talking about. But I...” you wildly gesture, slowly moving your blade concealed from beneath your sleeve closer to your hand. “I never took the Code,”

With the flick of your wrist, you send the knife flying to the control panel, making a gas fill the area quite fast. Backing up quickly to make your way to Mando, you bump into his metal frame. With his arm raised in the air, he shoots Karga off the ship and quickly closes the door.

“Let’s the get the hell out of here,” you sigh, climbing into the cockpit, settling into your co - pilot chair with the still sleeping Child in your arms.

Part 5 - Heavy Weighs the Helmet

image

Masterlist

Summary: The fight with Din and Ashoka by your side is brewing. But secrets of your family’s past are brought to the surface, extracting the truth from a certain beskar clad partner of yours.

Warnings: Angst, angst, and more angst, feelings of abandonment, memories of abuse, Grogu being Grogu

A/N - THIS CHAPTER HAS THEMES AND DIRECT REFERENCES TO ABUSE! These moments will be in italics for those who are uncomfortable with the topic to skip. Viewer discretion is strongly advised.

image

“A Mandalorian and a Jedi? They’ll never see it coming,”

Ashoka nods and looks towards you, nothing but annoyance radiating off of you at his words.

“Are you sure you two can work together?” she says.

“I can fight. That’s what matters.”

With a curt nod, the Jedi leads the way back to the village, Grogu in arms as they silently speak. You keep your distance from Mando, an unsettling silence building up between the two of you. The subtle ring of Beskar dances on the wind, filling up the tense space.

You volunteer to drop the kid off at the Razer Crest, locking it up with one of your spare staffs in hand. As you march through the dust storm, you see the white gleam of lightsabers swinging masterfully from the protective walls. Using the sharp end of the staff, you partially stab the wall and swing over, landing all of your weight on the top of your feet to silence any excess noise.

A tight grip on your staff, you sneak through the alleyways to keep up the speedy Jedi. With each house you pass, you ensure that the people inside are safe as well as under lock and key. Keeping towards the darkness the roof holds, you watch Ashoka speak to the leader and her guard, tossing a Beskar plate at her feet.

“The Mandalorian you sent to kill me, he failed.” she states.

Silence fills the small town, only making your grip on your staff tighter with nerves.

“Where is your master?” Ashoka asks.

“Kill her,” the leader says.

Like rain, lasers fly through the air towards the Jedi. Using the length of your staff, you stab a few of the soldier robots through the head without being noticed. You closely watch as the cowardly leader hides behind another set of walls, not before saying:

“Execute them. Then move door to door.”

As she disappears into another building, you reveal yourself from your cloak of dark and quickly stab the nearest soldier through the head. Using their weight you clobber the next soldier with him still attached to the end of your spear. Spinning on your heels, you slice another head clean off it’s shoulders.

A powerful blow is landed behind you, the clanking of metal meeting the ground being the last you hear before mechanical breathing kicks in.

“How nice of you to show up,” you grumble.

“Focus,”

One of the town residents clears his throat, making Mando quickly aim his gun at them. With a harsh sigh you push the tip down and nod towards the innocent, following his lead in freeing the prisoners who were suspended.

“Get inside!” you yell as the last prisoner is freed.

“Don’t come out for any reason!” Mando says behind you, just a shot comes for his neck.

Quickly you shove him to the ground (which is not an easy task) and take the shot yourself, right where Ashoka had burned you merely hours ago. But before Mando had a chance to stand, you launch your spear at the soldier, the blade lodging in his head with a sound thunk.

“Dank farrik! What were you thinking?”

“I was thinking I didn’t want you to get shot...” you mumble.

“I’m covered in armour, Mesh’la.”

You send him a glare at the nickname, walking over to the body and yanking the spear out from the deceased’s chest.

“You’re right...this time,” you smirk a bit.

“I’m always right,”

“We’ll see about that,”

You twirl the staff around, scanning the area for anymore incoming threats you knew were lurking in the same darkness you once did. Suddenly, a flash of dulled blue jumps onto the wall beside you. Ashoka nods towards the new threat, making you turn and stare down the intruder. Your eyes widen as his face appears through your memories...

His seedy grin stands out from above you, beside you, behind you. His handprints still clearly imprinted in the nerves that encircle your throat. The feeling of his rough hands...everywhere.

“You’re not worth a damn thing you hear me? Nothing!”

The pain from his words and from his movements erutps across your body as shivers run down your spine. Everything from his knife to his binds. How you survived the time he had rented you was still a mystery. How a man so evil had the advantage over you something you would never allow again.

“So you threw in with the Jedi and the whore, huh?” he says.

Mando’s fists clench at his sides, his shoulders bracing, lifting with ease towards the edges of his helmet.

“How about I show you what a whore like me can do then?” you say, twirling your bloodied staff in hand as you take a few steps towards Mando.

The song of Beskar against Lightsaber fills the dusty air as you stare one another down. Turning from you to Mando, the bodyguard asks:

“Who do you think’s gonna win? Could be your side. Could be mine.”

With each word he takes a slow, cautious step. You go to follow but the squeezing of leather catches your ears first. Subtly looking towards Mando’s back, you see a fist, a sign to hold your ground. Looking back towards the bodyguard, you tighten your hold on your staff instead.

“I got no quarrel with you, Mandalorian. Or your bitch.”

He continues to step closer, his words only fueling your need for revenge. For resolve.

“That’s far enough.” Mando says quickly, your tension easing a bit while his rises with the last words shared.

One hand drops towards his blaster, the other free to speak to you in secret. You glare at the bodyguard, rocking subtly on your feet in preparation to jump.

“You and I are a lot alike. Willing to lay our lives down for our cause. Willing to take the right payment for risking our lives,” a seedy smirk forms on the bodyguard’s face.

“One more word about her and I’ll make sure no woman will ever see your face again,”

“It’s just innocent fun, Mandalorian. We both know how...expendable people like her are. Or have you grown attached?”

“I’m gonna throw my spear directly where the sun don’t shine here soon...” you mumble underneath your breath.

“Don’t,” a short, quiet word. One even his helmet couldn’t pick up on.

The sharp clang of Beskar hitting the ground is like a gong, signaling the end of the fight. Defeat fills the bodyguard’s ugly features.

“Looks like you win,” he states, placing his gun on the ground. Your grip never loosens.

Mando’s hand dances around his gun. Just at the right time, he pulls it out as the bodyguard does the same. His aim is at your head, but Din’s aim and pull of the trigger is faster, sending his body to the ground.

“I owe you,” you say.

“Don’t worry about it,”

Soon, the villagers come pouring out of their houses, nodding towards you both in thanks. However, one of their eyes goes wide from over your shoulder. Just as they alarm you to the threat, you pull your hidden gun out from your belt, turn and shoot down the last of the robot soldiers. Mando’s helmet just gazes at you, probably stunned.

“Guess you owe me now,” you smirk.

After you were able to escape the festivities of the town, you made your way back to the Razer Crest. Walking up the platform, you see Din holding Grogu close, a gentle thumb coaxing his tiny back.

“It’s amazing how close we’ve gotten to a creature so mysterious,” you whisper softly as you walk closer, the tip of your finger gently rubbing against the little one’s cheek.

Din’s helmet twists and the pang in your heart knows that it’s Ashoka, here to take him away.

“You be good, got it kid?” Din whispers to the little one.

“And you better not forget your Dad and I,” you whisper as well.

Mando’s shoulders drop at the name, your hand moving from the Child’s face to his shoulder, giving him a comforting hand through the armour.

“I can’t train him,” Ashoka suddenly says.

Looking towards the Jedi in question, you wipe a stray tear away. A bag hangs close to her hips, her hands tucked in front of her.

“You are like a father and mother to him,”

“But you promised to train him,” you quickly remind. “And we held up our end of the deal. As much as I hate to let him go, he needs you.”

Ashoka walks closer to the two of you, gently grasping Grogu’s hand as she goes deep into thought.

“There is one possibility. Go to the planet Tyhton, there you will find the ancient ruins of a temple deeply connected to the Force. Place Grogu on the seeing stone there. There he can choose his path and call out to any other Jedi who will come searching for him. Then again, there aren’t many Jedi left.”

Mando reluctantly accepts the alternative, nodding his head slowly.

“Thank you,” you say for him.

“May the Force be with you,”

Din turns and walks onto the ship, hitting buttons on the way up to the cockpit. As you turn to follow him, a gentle hand grasps your bicep.

“I found these with your family name on them,” Ashoka says, taking the bag off of her.

“Family name?” you shake your head. “No one knows of it but me. It died along with Mandalore.”

“Looters go there all the time in search for Beskar. It seems this armour was among the many things poached from their.”

Ashoka pulls out a piece of the armour, clicking a button to reveal the language lost to you, your family name written on the hologram in Mando’a.

“Oh my god,” you whisper.

“Just as the spear belongs to your friend,” Ashoka puts away the piece and hands you the bag. “So does this armour belong to you.”

Gently grasping it, you nod softly, shock still evident as you shake a bit from the discovery.

“Thank you, Ashoka.”

“May the Force be with you too.”

You slowly walk back up into the ship, opening the panel to close the hatch.

“And please, for Grogu’s safe, give the Mandalorian a chance. No one likes to see their parents at odds.”

With a smirk and a nod, you hit the button and close the hatch. Quickly, you disappear into your quarters on the Crest, laying the bag gently onto your cot. Opening it up, you pull out some damaged armour, but nevertheless yours. The one you remember your mother wearing before passing away, orphaning you.

You strip out of your many layers of jackets and scarves until you’re left in your tight undershirt and pants. As you slowly slip on each piece of armour, you remember your mother telling you about the Creed she took. One so much different to Din’s.

Never did she take her helmet off in public, but when surrounded by close friends and family, they got to see the sunshine of a smile she carried on her face. The one you missed so dearly. As you slip the helmet on, the tech reboots, showing heat signatures and all the weapons that hadn’t been damaged.

Slowly, you make your way up to the cockpit. After the last ladder rung, you gently tap Din’s shoulder. He turns in his seat, the Child excitedly giggling at the sight of you in your suit.

“Woah...” you hear him whisper, the sound seeping out from underneath his helmet.

“Am I okay to wear this? I know I don’t follow your Cr-”

“You’re a Mandalorian, (Y/N). There’s no difference to me in my eyes.”

You take the helmet off, holding it on your hip by your side as you walk to your chair. As your butt hits the seat, you lay the helmet on the ship’s dashboard.

“It suits you, Mesh’la,” Din says while turning back to the whizzing stars of hyperspace.

Instead of a glare, you smile.
