Meet the youngest member of Radiator Springs! Samantha Estelle McQueen! Sam for short!
She was born on June 17th, 2013
She loves music (especially singing and dancing), playing dress up, mint candy, watermelons, playing tag with her father and Mater, and reading fairytales
She loves watching her father race, hanging out with her racer uncles (and aunt) (Cal, Bobby, the WGP team but mostly Francesco)
She used to be a cheeky, and fussy kid, who used to get into all sorts of trouble, but after watching her father crash, she hasn't been the same since.
In fact, she's become more withdrawn and quiet.
She's been getting therapy (Lightning and Sally too tbh)
Hates, and I mean, despises Jackson Storm with a passion. She blames him for essentially hurting her father in such a way. Even more so after watching him crash into Cruz.
"He's a big meanie..! Why do people like him..?"
Easily startled, especially by crushing noises
She's quite clingy, especially towards Lightning
After the crash, she's lost all interest in racing, her only remaining interest in it lies in collecting the toys (die-casts)

Hey I was thinking of making a cars au and I wanna see what you think, I'm calling it the time travel AU and what happens is Cruz and Jackson some how go back in time to the 80s and see a young teen lightning McQueen ( cause i think 🤔 he from the 80s era ) and see how different of a person he was when he was younger ( i also feel like when lightning was younger he was one of those popular kids that everyone's thought was mean but was actually really nice 👌.
And Cruz and Jackson look young enough to be in high school .
And you know how his name is Montgomery but for some reason I feel like both cruz and Jackson don't know that and when they looking for him and they like hey were looking for a lightning McQueen and people are like we don't have a lightning McQueen but we know a Montgomery McQueen
So what do you think 🤔 please give me any feedback 👌

Maybe you could add a joke where Jackson complains how they're looking for Lightning not his dad, but then they meet Monty and it actually is Lightning lmaoo
If Jackson and Cruz were to somehow enroll in Monty's highschool, I believe their ages would be around 16/17. I've done a bit of digging and found that some of the youngest irl racecar drivers are/were around 17/18 years old.
(Examples include Max Verstappen from F1 and Kalle Rovanperä from the WRC, both of which started their careers at 17 years old.)
For Cruz, since she had a job before racing, you could say she worked as a volunteer trainer for Rusteze.
Also!! Don't forget that since they're going back in time, there should be culture shock from both Jackson/Cruz, and some of the cars around them.
It's the 80s, car models like Jackson and Cruz have yet to exist, so every once in a while, they may get odd looks from people. At the same time, Jackson and Cruz talk and act quite different from the cars of that time period, so they may have to try to blend in. Maybe even change their look up temporarily.
(That is if this is a long story of course! If they're stuck in the past for not as long (like in that one episode of Tall Mater Tales) then it's perfectly ok to keep their appearance the same. It's just a suggestion ofc)

My favorite part of these next gen asks you send me is that it implies that the next gens actually like Lightning and try to involve him in their shenanigans, and it just makes me really happy okay?!
Not sure if your looking for a fic/ficlet or if you just want some headcanons, so I’m gonna go with headcanons if that’s okay! (I wrote most of this out during my lunch break at work so if it’s not great that’s why)
Here’s how I think the next gens would react to finding out Lightning is bi and single:
Tim: surprised to find out McQueen is single, not surprised at all to know he’s bi. He’s seen the interviews from the WGP and there’s no heterosexual explanation for how him and Francesco interact.
Ryan: tries to set him up on a blind date, but McQueen politely declines the offer; he’s okay being single for now.
Chase and Bubba: are very indifferent to the whole thing. This information changes absolutely nothing about how they perceive Lightning. They have no interest in McQueen’s love life, but are entertained by how much the other racers seem to care.
Danny: Thinks it’s great that McQueen is open about his sexuality and love life. He joins in with the rest in trying to set him up with someone. Starts a betting pool with the other racers to see who’ll get McQueen a date first.
Cruz: immediately half-jokes that McQueen and Jackson should go out on a date (I say half-jokes because she can totally tell they both find each other attractive so she’s really trying to play matchmaker here)
Jackson: acts like he doesn’t give af, but is secretly trying to work up the courage to ask Lightning out. He didn’t even realize Lightning was bi until all the next gens started discussing his love life, and while he won’t admit it to anyone he got a little excited/hopeful that he could have a chance with the racing legend

Some Bratty Lightning McQueen Coming Up, My Anonymous Friend!

Lightning's voice always goes slightly higher when he's complaining, its just a thing that happens that never really changed. (He hates it to no end)
Somewhere in his rookie years, he got into the mind set that people will give him stuff if he complained enough about it. He has grown out of it, no thanks to Doc, but even with Doc around there are times where his mind will immediately revert back to being annoying and whiny.
And the conversations would start something like the following-
"Doc, I'm starving! There's a McDonalds just down the road,"
"No, kid. McDonalds is unreasonably overpriced these days,"
"Oh come on! It's literally five blocks down the road!"
"Answer is still no, kid,"
"But I want McDonalds!"
"Nope. Not gonna happen,"
"Why not?"
The conversation would just derail and spiral from there until it became a nonsense back and forth where neither party made any progress.
So Doc came up with a new way to win.
Everytime something like that happened, Doc would just pick Lightning up and not let him go until he shut up about it, mostly ignoring the kid's complaining. (The longest amount of time Doc held Lightning was 2 hours, and it only ended because Lightning finally passed out from complaining)
When Lightning is feeling extra bratty, he stomps his foot.
He also totally gives off Sharpay Evans vibes on some occasions when he's with his friends.
His tantrums also give tabloids and other racers like Francesco and Chick fuel to increase their fire.
Francesco always posts the tantrums that Lightning throws to his social media platforms, making fun of him whenever he gets the chance.
Chick almost always brings up a Lightning tantrum when it happens on his talk show. Even if it isn't scheduled in the script, he still manages to find time for it to be somewhere.

The phone rang. Droning on and on until Lightning couldn't take it anymore and picked up his phone in a fit of blinding frustration and tears.
'San Fransisco'
Great, just what he needed today, some Italian loud mouth to come and insult him and his racing skills.
Doc's racing skills.
God damn it, why did it have to be today of all days? Which also so happened to be the day he completely butchered a win and ended up in second? A day that always reminded him of the man that raised him more than his biological father ever had?
Fuck, Doc was probably rolling in his grave right now at the embarrassing performance Lightning showed today using his moves. What did Doc ever see in him?
Sniffling a couple of times to clear his sinuses, Lightning wiped his eyes and for some reason ended up pressing the green phone icon and placed the phone up to his ear.
"What do you want?" Lightning questioned, trying to make his voice sound stronger than it was.
The laughter from the other side of the phone filled the empty, dark space Lightning had holed himself up in.
"Ah! McQueen! Francesco was thinking you were still sulking from your second placement today and would not answer this call,"
McQueen stared angrily downwards, his free hand gripping tighter onto a medium sized photo as more tears began to build behind his eyes. "Did you really call me at seven in the morning just to insult me? That's just lame,"
He ignored how his voice trembled as he spoke.
Francesco hummed annoyingly into the speaker. "Lame is-a not what Francesco would call himself. Especially since I am a morning person unlike you, McQueen. Who obviously woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning when you came in second,"
Tears began to stream down Lightning's face. His breath caught in his throat and he nearly choked but he didn't, he just sat there in the dark confines of his trailer, clutching onto the old photo of him and Doc that he had taken out the back of his phone case.
"McQueen? Did you hang up on me? Francesco is not one to be hung up on,"
"Are you done?" McQueen finally said, not being able to hold back the crack in his voice.
There was a pause on Francesco's end, like a moment of processing for the idiot.
Eventually, Francesco spoke again. "Lightning, are you alright?"
Tearing the phone away from his ear, Lightning yelled out in frustration, in agony, in pain, in grief, in everything. He ended the call with the tap of the red phone icon and threw his mobile across the dark trailer, listening to it strike the far end of the room with a sharp crack.
He probably broke the damn thing.
He didn't care.
Bowing his head, he clutched onto the old photo of him and Doc in both hands, letting his tears fall freely as he sobbed to no one.
Somewhere in the background, his broken phone rang and buzzed, making all sorts of sounds. Voicemails were left, texts were by the dozen, and missed calls shot through the roof.
But it was all ignored.

Some young Lightning McQueen Headcanons coming up my friend!

Lightning as a child was very- "Take no shit from anyone, ever,"
Lots of aggression was packed into a singular child. Like- this child was angry and aggressive 24/7. You thought pre-prime McQueen was bad? Pre-pubescent McQueen was a thousand times worse. Doc got lucky. (The temper comes from his mother's side and was made worse by his father being physically and emotionally absent)
Was constantly in and out of high school, despite his decent grades, which were usually B's with the occasional A if he liked his teacher. (Being in and out of high school was partially due to him going to the racing academy at the same time and prioritizing that, but I digress)
He's still a hella good multitasker when he needs to be doing something with his hands. (He still can't multitask listening and talking though, no matter how many times he tries to tell Doc he can)
Got sent to juvenile detention for awhile there too, and by the time he was out of high school and the racing academy he had been there at least four times. That's where he learned to hide his real feelings behind a facade of fake emotions and bravado. Never show that people got to you, sort of thinking. (He would also 'unknowingly' meet Bobby, Brick, and The King's nephew at this racing academy)
All throughout, he carried his, "Take zero shit from anyone," attitude, which caught the eye of Harv who offered and signed him into a sponsorship with Rust-Eze's at the ripe old age of 17. (Which is illegal in most states since person's under the age of 18 can't sign contracts without parental consent unless a court rules in favor of it)
He also gained his- "If I keep annoying people, I'll get what I want" attitude when he joined Harv, which is how he got enrolled in a university before being pulled out a year later.

Here's some reactions of the Radiator Springs members to Lightning meeting a friend from juvie

At first, when Lightning tells the RS members that he wasn't the squeaky clean racer that they know, they thought more on the mild side like the occasional acting out in class, school detentions, poorer grades, etc. That sort of thing.
But when a heavily buff and tattooed guy and his biker gang comes into their town looking for Lightning, most of the residents are suddenly on edge. Like- why are guys who look like their retired black market smugglers looking for Lightning?
Radiator Springs gets locked and loaded, keeping an eye on the buff and burley newcomers that says their looking for Lightning and making sure not to let the guys out of their sight.
They were so prepared to leap to Lightning's defense that when Lightning suddenly saw one of them and immediately charged toward that specific guy and hugged him, they were s h o o k.
Lightning knows this guy? These people? What???
Lightning then explains gleefully that the guy he had ran up and hugged was a good friend he had met when he was in juvie and then RS then collectively has to take a second to process that because w h a t-
The only person who literally isn't surprised by Lightning knowing a bunch of people who look like they beat people up for a living is Doc, who's been watching in amusement from the sidelines as Radiator Springs essentially looses it's mind for the next few days as the gang stays for a little bit to catch up with their old pal.
Lightning remains obvious to that fact up until the gang leaves- in which the following conversation is had as the gang drives off on their motorcycles to head further west.
Doc : Well, that went better than the last time.
Lightning : The last time?
Flo : Oh yeah, much better than last time.
Lightning : Wait, what happened last time?
Sally : Oh wait, are you talking about when a band of four bandits tried to rob V8?
Lightning : Wait what-
Sheriff : Yep, thank God for Doc's impeccable timing, though. Otherwise we all would've been six feet under.
Lightning : W H A T
Doc : That's a story for later, kid
