Lackadaisy Animation - Tumblr Posts

Hello everyone!

☆Noodle post of the day consists of a series of more research for that Lackadaisy fan animatic I am working on (mentioned in previous posts w/my Sable and Rocky human designs!).

I've been working very hard!!! My storyboard is almost done ^^

☆The project is inspired by a song (i'll keep it as a surprise until I post hehe) and a short synopsis would be this: Sable has a rendez-vous with Mitzy at the Little Daisy Cafe, and Mitzy is running late. Rocky encounters him at the cafe and decides to try and spook him, telling him how dangerous Mitzy apparently is, so he could leave. In doing so, Rocky will break into his usual theatrics and do a whole performance, leaving Sable confused and very disturbed.

Its heavily inspired by some scenes seen in the comic and I thought the song was perfect for this scenario!!!! (Oh and I'll draw them as human)

☆Yesterday and today I've been working on choosing colour palettes for the backgrounds and characters. My goals are to make them reminiscent of the iconic colouring of Tracy Butler's comic panels, use 2 to 3 colours and really keep it simple (so I can stick w/them during the whole animatic).

I did a lot of samples;

And some more Rocky studies! As I was doing some sort of character sheet!!!

Dont ask why but I've been STRUGGLING to draw his "human hair" for days haha- I spent a lot of time on it☠️ but I decided i'll keep something simple for the animatic (not the crazy perfect geometrical versions I have down there, those only serve as inspiration haha).

So- yes. Working very hard!! I'll keep posting my advancements here ♡ I won't lie, a bit of support and motivation would be greately appreciated😭it IS my first time doing a whole animatic.

I wanna do something nice and fun!!☆

☆ Noodle post of the day: Sneak peek of some veeeery rough storyboard for my animatic! :)) the song is still a surprise so I muted it zkfklz but yeah!! Progress!!

I'll be working on thumbnails and details and then get into drawing☆

By the way guys, Haha i also have two other Lackadaisy animatic/animation videos in my head that I'd love to finish before school starts. Its crazy idk how but I keep finding animations that remind me of this wonderful series😭😭

☆Noodle post of the day, still working on storyboard, colours and now... thumbnail sketches! To test how I want the overall look to be on different scenes!!

Lots of work!! But Iam having loads of fun seeing this take form, and doing my best to take rests and stay motivated! It can be dificult when you're a perfectionnist who wants her ferst ever animatic to be on professional level.

Haha.

But yeah!

As you can see, I take A LOT of notes. I also developed a google sheet and a slide of 48 slides (that is not finished) with some of my ideas, references, and movement decomposition I made, all for this animatic!!

Iam thinking of doing veeery simple colouring on this. For my health's sake haha cuz I want to finish it soon.

What do y'all think? :^)

Hello guys :^)!

Today's animatic advancement sneak peek is a Rocky lookin cocky haha.

Basically in this scene, I imagined Rocky talking to Wick about Mitzy, and how Wick is interested in her because she's attractive and such ( wanted to match the lyrics of the song that goes 'she gotsa a two ply, cream pie...').

So I wanted him to like do that move where you slide your hands over your body, to show off the curve from your chest to your hip.

I wanted the movement to be subtle as I won't animate lots of parts of the animatic (for my mental health's sake haha) and also since it happens in a short time period and a petty busy movement was placed right before and I worried it would be too hard to follow!

But I don't know if the movement is understandable😔😭

Anyays! Been working on this sequence since yesterday, but we advancing!!!

Hii guys! Hope everyone is feelin’ alrightttt😎.

Today, wanted to share how I proceed to go from storyboard to final frames for my lackadaisy animatic!! I usually put my storyboard thumbnail, my character sheet and doodle how I want the composition and perspective to look like on the same file/ page! I also think about the time the frame will last to know how much detail I should add.... Oh and also the colour thumbnail too hehe.

I also used to check some facial expressions the characters usually do for inspiration- but i don’t need to cuz I know these characters so well at this point hhh.

I also took many reference pics of myself that I use just in case it can help me get the idea across!! It’s very goofy and fun to do haha!

Still working hard!!!! School is starting soon and i’ve been pulling endless allnighters to try and finish this before school starts i5ddi5diktddt.

Some wips, working on a sequence of the animatic filled with complicated poses hehe.

Been working on it for 3 days.

Back to school is coming soon and I am a bit stressed tho I try to not think about it haha. Working on this project, was maybe also a way to cope with leaving my country and stuff and everything I know to start an art journey🤷‍♀️.

Anyways I will try to finish this before my back to school day.

Big sneakpeek of the scenes i've been working on for a certain sequence of my animatic!

This is from a pretty complicated and ambitious sequence (for me) hehe and it's been really interesting to work on!

I don't want to describe it too much because it could ruin the surprise when i'll finish my animatic but enjoy for now!

Also I love drawing people (Rocky esp lol) playing the violin. Very graceful and pretty and also oddly attractive-

Just arrived in Paris for my studies, it's stressful but working on this has been keeping me sane!!
