Iwaizumi Imagine - Tumblr Posts
tmi but i just came out of the shower and i dont have the energy to do anything (like put on clothes and brush my atrocity of a hair)? but then i thought... iwaizumi who is usually aggressive and rough around the edges- the same iwaizumi who beats up oikawa and slam volleyballs with full force on a daily basis- just iwaizumi noticing your distress and gently pulling you closer to him as if you are worth a million dollars. with a small frown (because he doesnt want his baby anywhere sad, thats a big no-no in his book), he takes your hair brush and slowly untangles your hair with it while he hums your favorite song to your ear. when he’s done (which took quite a while since he was also softly massaging your head), he turns you around, flashes you a cute, sappy smile before pressing a long kiss on your forehead in a wordless attempt to comfort you and remind you that your feelings are valid and he would always be there to help you through it.... yikes. i need an iwaizumi here right now before i break down into a happy (and energized) blushing droopy mess
oh god. hate sex with iwaizumi. thats it. i have peaked. imagine hate sex with iwaizumi who really hates your guts. he’d place his hands on your neck and p r e s s. he’ll literally re-arrange your guts because god fucking damn, he has no use for you and the brat shit you’re pulling. the only redeeming property you have is that you have holes he can abuse however he likes bc you’re such a fucking whore.

Synopsis: Tiktok, do your thing and please help me find this guy...
~~~~~~
“I’m so tired of being single,” you told your coworker and you lazily scrolled through tiktok passed another video of two people reuniting online, “like I’ve never been lucky enough to post a video online looking for someone and find them.”
Your coworker snorted, taking a sip of his boba, “nobody’s that lucky. That’s like a 1 in a million type of thing.”
“Thanks for reminding me.”
You sighed as the ipad sitting in the mobile station went off with a ding, signalling that yet another person had put in a mobile order. That in itself wasn’t a bad thing- the store was going through its slow hour and mobile orders contributed to your paycheck. However, one thing you knew about mobile orders was that people always ordered at least 5 drinks and that was a pain to put into the system and make.
Clicking through the options, you sighed, realizing that you were right. This order had 8 drinks to it and they were all customized too.
You groaned, wanting to slam your head against a counter. You knew it was in their right to do so but it was just so troublesome to do.
At least your shift was almost over.
You tapped away on the order screen, inputting each drink into the system with all of its changes and variations.
Ding
You didn’t bother to look up from the screen as the door to the shop opened. You would get them in just a second after you finished filling out the order.
“Hi, welcome in!” You said cheerily in your customer service voice, still not looking at the customer. “I’ll be there for you in just a second.”
You heard a pair of footsteps walk up to the register and tensed, waiting for them to inevitably start rattling off an order when you were obviously not ready.
However, the order doesn’t come and instead you heard, “No, take your time. How are you?”
The voice was deep and masculine, making you almost unconsciously shiver.
“I-“ you almost sputtered in surprise, “I’m good, thank you. How are you?”
“I’m good too.”
Your fingers hurriedly danced acrossed the screen, motivated to be done faster so you could get to the customer that had been so kind to you faster.
As you worked, two male voices interacted with each other, but in your hurry, you didn’t understand any of it.
Finally hitting “online payment” on the screen, the stickers and receipt printed, allowing you to stick them onto the cups for your coworker to take and prepare.
He took the labeled cups off your hands, and you finally glanced up to treat the customers properly. You opened your mouth to speak but froze when you made eye contact with the customer.
There were two of them, both male, as you had assumed earlier. The one that has caught you off guard was standing closest to the register. He had honey skin and deep, dark eyes like a storm that seemed to pull you in. He had strong features and a pair of lips that were pulled into a slight scowl that made him look brooding when paired with his eyebrows.
His hair was spiked up and messy, making him look effortlessly put together and he looked as though he were some sort of exotic god.
‘Stop staring!’ You scolded yourself, taking in a quick breathe to speak.
“Hi welcome in!” You beamed, forgetting entirely that you had already done your customer service greeting.
The male seemed to have forgotten too as his face broke the intimidating facade to smile softly, “Hi, how are you?” he repeated.
“I’m good, how are you?” You echoed out of habit.
“I’m good how about-”
All of a sudden, the two of you broke out into giggles as it finally hit you both that you had already said all this.
His brooding image had broken completely by now, his eyes narrowing into soft, happy slits as the two of you shared a laugh.
‘His laugh is gorgeous,’ you thought, getting the last few chuckles out of your system.
Normally, you would be mortified that you had been so caught off guard by how attractivene a customer was that you short circuited. However, with the boy in front of you also making the same mistake, you felt instantly better.
“How may I help you today?” You asked, settling down.
He cleared his throat, “I’m good, how-” his eyes widened as though he realized that was not what you had asked and the both of you broke out into another fit of giggles.
There was absolutely nothing funny about the situation, but here you were, laughing with a stranger as though Trevor Noah himself was in the room.
Your heart beat quickly in your chest; you had just been complaining about your lack of a love life and this Adonis of a man had shown up to laugh with you.
“Right,” he said, clearing his throat, “Can I get a lychee smoothie tea? Regular sugar, no toppings.”
You nodded, fingers moving quickly, “Absolutely, can I get anything else for you today?”
The boy paused, and you heard his friend mumble something incoherent thay the boy ignored, “No, that’s it.”
“Alright, your total is $6.43.”
The boy nodded before pausing, “Wait, I should put my phone number in for points.”
“Yea of course, go ahead,” you said, nodding at the key pad.
You waited patiently as he input his number in, tapping your foot. While he was doing so, Jay Sean’s Down came on the speakers of the store.
You grinned and immediately started singing along to the familiar harmony. No matter what anyone said, this song slapped and the lyrics were sweet.
You oughta know, tonight is the night to let it go
Put on a show, I wanna see how you lose control
You continued to sing softly to yourself as the male finished putting in his number. You looked at the screen hopefully, waiting to see his name pop up in the database but instead, all you got was ‘customer.’
So leave it behind 'cause we have a night to get away
So come on and fly with me, as we make our great escape
You pressed on some more buttons, gesturing for him to insert his card as you input the proper amount of points into usual his account.
However, what surprised you was that while the two of you were waiting for his card to authenticate, he started seeing along to the chorus with you.
You were careful not to let your eyes blow wide open despite the erratic beating of your heart. You didn’t want your coworker to tease you any more than he was already planning to, after all.
So baby don't worry, you are my only
You won't be lonely, even if the sky is falling down
Your voices intertwined in the air, creating a contrast from your higher register and his lower one.
The card reader beeped as his card authenticated, and his receipt and cup sticker printed out of the machine. You grabbed the receipt, placing it in front of him as he pocketed his card, neither of you pausing your singing.
You'll be my only, no need to worry
Baby are you down, down, down, down, down?
He signed the receipt as you stick the label onto the right cup. Your coworker took it off your hands and you took the receipt, sticking it into the pile you would need to sort through later.
‘He’s a tipper,’ you noted, stealing a quick peak.
The moment was finally broken as his friend stepped forward and you opened your mouth to speak.
Nothing eventful happened while they were there after that and soon they were off. You almost wanted to go through the recent customers list for those who signed in to the system for his but decided against it. After all, you didn’t want to be wierd and perhaps you had been the only one who was freaking out.
Your coworker looked at you with an amused face, wiggling his eyebrows playfully, “Did you just have your Wattpad moment?”
You threw an empty cup at him.
~~~~~~
A few hours later, your shift ended and you hung up your apron to go home. Your roomate was already waiting outside the store to pick you up.
You waved bye to your boss and coworkers and slid into the passenger’s seat of your roommate’s car.
“You look tired,” she teased you as you rested your forehead against the window.
You groaned, “You have no idea.”
She didn’t pry much after that and you felt your thoughts wondering back to the handsome boy that had sung along with you.
Admittedly, he had occupied your thoughts a lot during the rest of your shift and you felt silly for being stuck on a stranger for so long.
Perhaps he would come again? You smiled a bit at the thought.
“No way,” your roommate turned to you as she stopped at a red light, “You’re not tired, you’re thinking of a boy!” She took your silence as confirmation and grinned, “Spill bitch!”
So you did.
However, mystery boy did not show up again your next shift. Or the next. Or the next.
And soon, you were sure you wouldn’t see him again since you were taking a break from working that first week of summer.
Typical of your luck in love.
“Are you really giving up on your soulmate?” Your roomate asked you incredulously.
You rolled your eyes, “He’s not my soulmate,” you scoffed.
“Honey, he sang to Jay Sean’s Down with you,” your roommate said, giving you a flat look, “he’s definitely your soulmate.”
You sighed, “What would it matter? How would I even find him?”
“Post it on Tiktok,” your roommate suggsted, “you know how many of those things I’ve seen work? Come on, you can’t just let it go.”
You hesitated before shrugging, “Sure, can’t hurt.”
“That’s the spirit!” Your roommate cheered, already grabbing the shirt and scrunchie you had been wearing that day.
You filmed the video, asking tiktok to help you find the mystery guy, including small details that only he would know like the drink he ordered and the shop while using the song as the background.
You hit post, hoping that the algorithm would work for you this time. You doubted it would, though. It never did. Videos of you claiming your leftist ideologies had ended up on white tiktok and blown up had blown up before, causing a flurry of heated comments to be thrown out you.
You shut off your phone, hoping it would work this time.
The next day when you opened your phone, you were pleasantly surprised that the video did better than you expected. It is massed a good five thousand views and 2 thousand likes with hundreds of shares and comments, hoping that you’d find your mystery boy.
It by no means had blown up to be big, but you hoped that it had been enough to blow up locally to find him.
However, days passed and nobody seemed to step forward to claim their identity as the person in question.
You gave your roommate a knowing look, and she patted you on the back comfortingly in return.
~~~~
Iwaizumi yawned tiredly as he got up from his sprawled position on the futon im his friend Matsukawa’s bedroom.
It had been 2 weeks since he returned to Japan for the summer, and he had spent almost every minute of it with his high school friends Matsukawa and Hanamaki. His best friend was stil in Argentina, probably not due for another visit until months later.
He groaned, rubbing his head. They had all drank last night to celebrate his last day in Japan and empty bottles and cans were littered all over the floor of the room.
It was easily afternoon; the sunlight from outside streaming through the window practically blinded Iwaizumi as he blinked the sleep out of his eyes.
Hanamaki was draped on the sofa, an empty sake bottle loosely clutches in his hand while Matsukawa was half sprawled on his bed without a shirt, scrolling through tiktok.
They really needed more self control when it came to drinking, Iwaizumi shook his head to himself.
But he had to admit that it felt good to be home after studying for a year- his first year- in America.
He would admittedly miss his friends in Japan despite the ones he made in America being friendly. He was just lonely sometimes and-
“Man you need to get laid.”
Iwaizumi’s head snapped over to Hanamaki who was now awake and stretching, “We were just drinking and you’re already scowling first thing in the morning.”
“This is just my face,” Iwaizumi grunted, rolling his eyes at his pink haired friend, “And you need to find a job.”
“Ouch.”
All of a sudden, Jay Sean’s Down steamed quietly from Matsukawa’s phone as he watched a TikTok.
Iwaizumi’s mind immediately wandered to you; the cute boba shop worker he had met briefly. He smirked to himself, remembering the way the two of you had sung along to the song.
He wondered if he had successfully flirted- American style- to you.
“Bro this chick is hot,” Matsukawa said, turning his head back to look at Iwaizumi, “Yo, translate this big ass block of English for me, would you? Can’t understand a thing.”
Iwaizumi rolled his eyes, reaching his hand out to the device, “Give it.”
He expected to see some white girl twirking to the song, at least that’s what he expected from Matsukawa’s definition of hot, but was pleasantly surprised to see what was on the screen.
There you were, holding up the shirt you had worn that day and the scrubchie too, smiling into the camera. He read the text, grinning as he realized it was him you were looking for.
“If you’re the cute Asian guy who went to get boba at Tan Cha on June 23rd with his friend and ordered a regular lychee smoothie tea please stop. If you sang this song with me and wore a hooded denim jacket and think this is you, please hit me up. I thought you were cute and that we vibed well tigether. Tiktok, please help me find this guy,” he translated for his friends, his from growing wider with every word.
So he had successfully flirted.
Hanamaki raised an eyebrow at his friend suspiciously, “What’s up with that grin? It’s creepy.”
“Oh nothing,” Iwaizumi said nonchalantly, sending the video to himself, “Just gonna get laid, like you said.”
Hanamaki and Matsukawa shared a look before connecting the dots, their eyes widening in shock.
“Iwaizumi, you smooth fucker!”
“You picked up an American chick!”
~~~~~
You sighed as you scrolled through tiktok lazily, leaning over the front counter during the slow hour of your shift.
The scene was familiar and you laughed at yourself, shaking your head mockingly- it had been a few weeks and you were thinking of your ‘soulmate’ that got away.
“Let me guess, you want a boyfriend?” Your coworker teased you.
You made a face at him, causing him to laugh, and returned to your phone.
This time, there was a little red for by the inbox icon, signalling that someone had dmed you. Curious, you clicked on it.
Look up.
You bristled, feeling uncomfortable from getting such an eery text. The profile had no videos and no profile picture, so you didn’t know who it was.
The only thing you had to go off was the username: hiwaiz... which didn’t ring any bells.
However, before you could dwell on it more, the door opened with a ding and you looked up.
You froze as you were met with the sight of the mystery boy who had been plaguing your thoughts, his phone in his hand while he looked directly at you grinning.
Your eyes widened, blinking blankly, “I, uh- Wel-”
“Hey,” he interrupted you, dark eyes fixated on your face, “I’m Hajime Iwaizumi and I think you were looking for me.”
A tap on his phone had the familiar music that the two of you had sand to filling the store front and you grinned.
“Hi, Hajime. I’m Y/N, and I think I may have just gotten a 1 in a million chance.”
So baby are you down down down down down down?
FLEX THAT BICEPS IWA

ding!

. . . iwaizumi hajime. yummy, too.

“do i really have to go with you?”
“c’mon! it’ll be fun, i swear! plus, we can check out what kinds of food they’re selling on the festival bazaar.”
your friend laughs aloud, basically dragging you around the school in search of things she was craving. aoba johsai often held school festivals such as this one, but you didn’t think it’d be this grand. well, it was to honor the school’s 100th year of foundation—so everything needed to scream grand and pride.
and what better way to execute something that shows pride, grandness, and teamwork than to hold a school festival?
“where are we even going? my feet hurt,” you whined, taking a good look at the goods offered by your fellow schoolmates from different classes and levels. “aside from the overpriced prices, i don’t think the food is that appealing to stir an appetite—or is it just me?”
“my friends’ stall! they were begging me to at least check it out,” she answers. “you’d love their product; it’s something sweet and refreshing to combat the heat these days.”
“like . . . a fruit smoothie?”
“uh—well? not really? but, sort of!”
“. . . huh?” you blink, confused.
“you’ll see!”

you note that businesses were slow today. customers come and go and don’t dwell too long on each stall before either walking away to return to their rooms or checking out another stall.
“here we are!” your friend gestures to a stall with whom you assumed were the cashiers sitting on the other side of the table, relaxed and anticipating for someone to take an interest in their product.
then you saw him.
and by him, you meant the student who did the promotional reel for their product, doing a simple dance trend while being fed said product with a dangerously attractive smile.
oh, did you also mention that the first thing you noticed was how big his biceps were?
the same biceps that flexed when he uncrossed his arms away from his chest as he stood up and greeted you and your friend with an easy tone.
“hi, you visited our stall,” he nodded to you, then to her. “what can i get for you?”
“oh! i’m not really in the mood for anything today, but they are!”
you would’ve strangled your friend for nudging you forward as if you were the chosen bait to be offered to a den where a wolf resides, but she was quickly gone with the wind.
the nerve.
“uh—haha . . .” you laugh awkwardly.
hajime bobbed his head, turning his attention back to you. “what can i get for you?”
“uh . . . what would you recommend?”
you swore you were actually going to strangle her for putting you in this awkward predicament.
“our strawberry pie’s good with a coconut smoothie,” he answers. “they’re a good combo if this is your first time trying them.”
“wow, do you guarantee that?”
hajime chuckled, shrugging his shoulders as he then adjusted the apron he wore. “we made it ourselves, so if anyone knows a better combination of our products, then that would be the production crew themselves, no?”
“mm. how much?”
“490 yen for the strawberry pie, and 350 yen for the smoothie. if you’re buying them as a set, we actually have a promo—“ he points at the corkboard that displayed the announcements of this specific booth, “—a discount of 140 yen off for every set.”
you paled at the price.
damn the overpriced prices.
and damn your friend.

“i’m not even gwoing to wie, thesh awre pwetty good,” you somewhat said to her.
“i told you!” she beamed with a triumphant clap.
“yummy, just like the cashier that handed it to me.”
“yea—huh? hah?”
“i mean—it’s the biceps! he has big biceps and a nice smile, ok? he was pretty damn kind and helpful, too.”
“i didn’t know men with big biceps were your type! ohoho, i’m going to use this information as leverage.”
“shut!”

You Look Just Like a Dream…

… the prettiest boy I’ve ever seen
Hajime Iwaizumi x reader
haikyuu mlist

“Sometimes, I look at you and I think, ‘wow, I can’t believe you’re real,’ y’know?”
You pause, turning away from the tv to find him already gazing at you; watching you as someone who had never seen the sky would watch the sunset.
It was rare for him to say things like that, so affectionate and sweet. Iwaizumi had always been on the shyer side, the type that struggles with communicating how he truly feels. To you, it was an endearing trait, how he stumbled and fumbled, and flustered over such small little things to the point he could barely get anything to fall from his mouth.
Of course, you knew he loved you, it was something he showed you every day: periodic texts throughout the day reminding you to eat, making your favourite food on bad days, doing your laundry when you didn’t have the time, coming home with small gifts that he knew you would like. The list is endless. Iwaizumi was amazing at showing you how much he loved you… but hearing it… hearing it when you knew how hard vulnerability was for him? Fuck, it set you alight; something that should very much be considered a natural wonder of the world.
Smiling up at him from where you were nestled into his chest, you kiss the underside of his jaw before mumbling, “why thank you, baby. What brought this on?”
He sighs, closing his eyes bashfully as he lightly glides his hand up and down your spine, “I just think you’re beautiful, on the inside and out, so beautiful that it almost seems impossible” — he takes a stuttered breath, to calm himself down from the rambling — “and well beautiful people deserve to know that they’re beautiful... but only if they’re you.”
Giggling at the way his words practically tickle your heart, you quickly straddle his lap, littering soft pecks across his pretty face. He groans at the onslaught of affection, exasperated as his hands fall tight on your waist, but you can see the faint hints of a smile as you continue kissing his sun-kissed skin. You knew what he meant by that, how he felt he didn’t tell you how much he cared enough — it was a ruthless insecurity of his stemming from times where people said he was unapproachable and rude. It was a shame he felt as though he was somehow not loving enough, especially when loving was all Hajime ever was. It wasn’t his fault that his way of doing so was just unique outside of the movies.
Breaking away, slightly breathless, you stare deeply into his eyes and try your best to count all the flecks of gold as you state, “you’re beautiful too, Hajime Iwaizumi, the most prettiest, most beautifulest, most handsomest man I have ever seen.”
And it was the truth, you meant every single word. In fact, there were perhaps not enough words to describe just how perfect he was to you, never enough for you to say — although you would make sure that he would hear every last one, for the rest of your lives together. After all, you were lucky to have him by your side, even though he would deny it, claiming that the lucky one was him instead.
There was just something about him that was so irreplaceable, so utterly unique, like a work of art. He was gorgeous, there was no denying that because Hajime looked like a dream… but it was his personality that seemed as though it was formed from pure stardust; fiery, hot, and admired for all the magic it held.
Booping your nose, Iwa raises an eyebrow teasingly, “hmm, you think so? Even more handsome than Chris Evans?”
A soft smile takes over your face, so full of love — a love that you could only ever feel with the man before you. Stroking his cheeks with the pads of your thumbs, you place a gentle kiss to his lips before saying, “even more handsome than Chris Evans, baby.”
There was never a competition. Iwa never had to worry about other people, even Chris Evans, because he was all you ever wanted; with his determination, cute frown, and godzilla obsession, Hajime Iwaizumi was a dream come true.
Leaning down, you kiss along his face until you reach his right ear before dramatically whispering, “though keep this between us when I say that I think you have better arms than him anyway.”
His laugh that follows is pure and sweet, the prettiest sound you have ever heard in your life. It floods your apartment, decorating every room and open space with happiness. You loved his laugh, you wish you could hear it more often.
Once he calms, Iwaizumi smiles dopily at you — mirroring your own smile you imagine — before shaking his head, “ok, baby. If Chris Evans ever asks I’ll say nothing about how you prefer my arms to his.”
“Hmm, good. Can’t have him knowing the truth, Haji. He’d be absolutely heartbroken.”
And as you watch the joy dance across his face, you cannot help but think that never have you been more in love than now, with Hajime Iwaizumi — the most beautiful, most prettiest, and most handsome man you have ever seen.

i miss writing for iwa
warnings: making out?

Dating Iwaizumi felt like as if you were on cloud nine. He's smart, kind, funny, caring and all, it's like he came straight out of a romance manga. You loved everything about him. What more could you ask him for?
"I got my first kiss!" your friend, Ruka, squealed giddily, covering her red face with a book. Rina cheered for her, patting her back as she tried to force her friend to spill the beans. You froze in your seat. Ruka met her boyfriend three weeks ago and they've kissed already?! you thought, puffing your cheeks in annoyance. Rina looked over to you with a pity look on her face.
"You haven't got your first kiss yet, didn't you, y/n?" she asked, patting your head. You only groaned as an answer. Ruka pouted. "I'm sure he has his reasons for not doing that. Let's not think to much about it since finals are coming up, yeah?" she tried to encourage you who has slumped onto the table.
The last bell rang, telling the students that school was finally over. You left Ruka and Rina early since you had your usually study sesh with Iwaizumi at your place. You arrived home peacefully, glad that there wasn't anything that bothered you on the way. A ding dong was heard after you had change out of your school uniform. Excitement rushed through your skin as you hurriedly went to the door.
There he was, smiling down at you, showing off his beautiful white pearls. Heart thumping loudly against your chest, you gulped. His hair was slightly disheveled, small pants coming from his pretty lips- he ran all the way to your house- that you wish you feel against yours. He looked hotter than usual. You faced the floor, silently hoping that he didn’t noticed you staring at him longer than usual. Stepping aside to let him into the house, you quickly made your way to the kitchen after dismissing him to stay put in your room as you made some refreshments for the both of you.
Iwaizumi has never stepped inside a girl’s room before. Let alone a girl that he likes. He sat on the floor, taking out his homework as his eyes continued to wonder around the room. You entered the room, passing him a glass of water. The room was surrounded by a thick cloud of silence. Without wasting another minute, you sat down across him. Iwaizumi’s eye went down your figure, his gaze stopping at the thin fabric that’s hiding the rest of your skin. He could feel the tips of his ears burn making him look back to the book sprawled in front of him. You tilted your head at your boyfriend’s actions.
“You okay, Iwa?” you asked, placing the back of your hand against his forehead. The boy’s eyes was in a horizontal line with your chest that was directly in front of him. He gulped hard as he was sweating bullets even though the air conditioner was on. “Come closer,” he said, turning away to avoid your quizzical look. Now it was your heart’s turn to palpitate. Cheeks burning, you crawled over to him. Hands gripped your wrist as he pulled you towards him, straddling his sides. Your widened at the contact of his clothed dick against your clothed womanhood. He’s hard, you thought, hiding your flustered face into his chest.
Iwaizumi dragged a finger, picking up your chin to make you face him. His dark eyes were clouded with want. He suddenly slammed his lips to yours, kissing them hungrily. You parted your mouth more when he bit your lower lip, asking for entrance. Tongues swirled against one another as you both panted heavily for air. He flipped you over, making your back hit the cold floor. Iwa pinned both of your wrists above you. You looked erotic under him with your chest panting and cheeks all red and flustered. “I-iwa,” you stammered, voice dripping with honey.
You nod your head in assurance.
“I- I want to do it,” he said, looking down, his hair covering his bashful face. Then it hit you. You finally got your first kiss and now you’re going to do it with him! Finally your dream is about to come true. You cup both of his cheeks, making him look into your eyes. You knew you wanted this and he knows he wanted this too. You brought his lips to yours, connecting them together. The kiss was a real bliss and it made you feel all floaty as if you were on cloud nine for the first time again.

One last wave at your friend and you stepped out of the warm cafe to the cold, rainy winter afternoon.
The wet wind hit you square in the face as the glass door closed behind you, and you knew you were going to get wet. You already knew it was going to rain that morning when you left your house, but you were too lazy to take your shoes off and get your umbrella. I'm not afraid of getting a little wet." You had thought to yourself like an idiot. Though it was true. You weren't afraid of getting wet under the rain, not, however, a big fan of walking through a goddamn storm.
You sighed, knowing it was your fault, and you were glad you had at least thought of wearing your good old ski jacket. Closing the hood of your jacket over your head, you wore your earphones and started walking.
~~~
cold, cold, cold, cold
Only halfway through walking, the cold was all that was on your mind. You didn't even have money on you since you had forgotten your wallet back at the cafe (your friend had texted you they had it and would give it to you the next day), so you couldn't even ride a taxi for the rest of the long walk.
Hopping over puddles of water and mud, you were practically sprinting your way back home, not stopping for any obstacle and wanting to go home as soon as you could.
Float like a Cadillac, sting like a Beemer, you thought to yourself, laughing when the image of Lightning Mcqueen came to your mind. I won't stop until I reach home, not even if Jesus himself stood before me-
You stopped just as the thought crossed your mind, eyes focusing on the small body kneeling in front of a wall, face hidden behind short, chubby fingers, and body shaking with soft sobs.
Your brows furrowed in concern when you noticed the kid had nothing but a shirt on, the shirt already wet and sticking to his body. "H-hey," you turned to the kid, afraid of scaring him into thinking you were a murderer. You got a little closer to the boy, also kneeling when he seemed not to have heard you, still sobbing into his hands.
"Hello?" You touched his freezing arm as softly as you could, pulling it back whenthe boy flinched, abruptly springing to his feet. You watched him as he wrapped his arm around himself, lips near purple and lashes wet with tears and the pouring rain. He couldn't be more than seven, you found yourself thinking as you stared into his oddly familiar olive-green eyes. You felt your heart stopping as the wide eyes stared back at you, reminding you of someone you dearly longed for and missed. You could swear you had seen that harsh gaze and the way he tilted his chin up with pride before, so familiar, yet strange.
"Excuse me," he muttered between chattering teeth, wiping the tears off his face, even though newer ones filled their places nonstop. "Did you- did you see a red earphone coming here?"
"A red earphone?" You repeated, and he shook his head violently. "Yes! Did you see it?"
You bit your lip as you tried to remember if something like that had caught your eye, watching a new wave of sobs engrave him when you shook your head no apologetically.
"I'm sorry," you muttered. "Did you lost it? Is that why you're- well, here?" The little boy wiped his tears with the back of his hand, nodding, still looking back at you with those green eyes, now even brighter with tears.
"Okay, okay, look, first calm down a little, aren't you cold?" You asked as you started unzipping your jacket and shook it off your shoulders. You smiled at him when he didn't answer your obvious question, averting his gaze with a proud, stern look.
He took the jacket without contest, watching his hands as you dressed it over him. Wind howling in your ears, you were left only with a sweatshirt, a wave of shiver running throughyou when the wind howled even louder, the rain already wetting your heair and making it heavier. A curt nod was the boy's thanks, faintly smiling when you gave him a reassuring one.
"Let's take you home, okay? You'll catch a cold if you stay out in this cold when you're wet." Your words had seemed to take a wrong affect on him, since he quickly pulled himself away from you with a new round of tears gathering in the corners of his eyes.
"No, no- I can't!"
"It's okay, you can buy a new one and-"
"No, please- my brother will be so angry if he learns I lost it, I can't go home!" The little boy started to unzip your jacket off him with panic clouding his mind when he thought just how mad his brother was going to be. He could already vision the furious look when his brother figured it, swearing he would never lend him anything again.
"Hey- hey, stop," you caught his cold hands between yours before he could shake off the jacket. "Okay, we won't go home, but let's look for it together, all right?" You offered, trying to bargain with him and stay with him until you could convince him to go home.
"Okay." He agreed, eyeing you with soft suspicion but still walking beside you as you started to walk the way back.
After what felt like a whole day but was only an hour later, you had noticed just how many red things one could find if they looked around.
Even if you averted your eyes to your hands, there it was, a bright red thread hanging from your finger. But this was the day you had come to hate the many- many red things that littered the surface since each time you saw a glimpse, and it was never the red earphone (K/N) was looking for and made him cry even more.
You didn't have it in you to tell him even if you did find the earphone, no way it would work since it was raining nonstop for hours now, either. So you swallowed your sense of cold and went on looking with the boy, telling him funny stories, listening more from him.
You had no idea why your heart missed a beat each time he spoke of his older brother -how old are you, miss? Woah, really? Then my brother is only e year older than you!- how you found your tummy hurting with how hard you were laughing as he kept telling you a funny thing that happened to his brother and his best friend.
"He seems like a- well, nice guy." You muttered as you threw the red bottle cap you spotted on the ground to the trashcan. "He is!" The boy answered with sparkles in his green eyes, "my brother is the best!"
"That's nice." You smiled, chuckling when he went on. "He is the strongest, the coolest, smartest guy ever!"
"He does sound really cool. But also seems like he has some anger issues." You muttered as a joke, not expecting him to frown immediately. "He will be furious with me." He bit his lip, your eyes widening when you noticed the tears in the corner of his eyes.
"Hey, no- I'm sure he'll understand!" You tried to reassure him. "Your brother sounds way cooler to get angry about a red earphone." You smiled, patting his head, laughing when he sniffed. "Really? You think so?"
You thought you were reassuring him. A white lie was all it was, but then, why did it feel so real? Why did it feel like the truth, despite not even knowing who the said guy was?
You hummed. "I'm pretty sure."
"Okay then, I think we should go home." You smiled, nodding and letting him lead you as he pulled your thread-free hand.
"We're here." He sighed, meddling with his fingers as he stared at his house door. "Can yku, maybe stay with me as I tell him?"
You had opened your mouth to answer before a loud call of the little boy's name made you both jump in your places. You turned around to see where the stomping sound came from, eyes meeting the tall figure running his way to you.
"Th- that's my brother." The boy gulped, and you did the same as you watched the also wet boy coming towards you.
You quickly noticed his eyes weren't on you but the little boy standing next to you, and you bit back the urge to hide the boy behind you from his seemingly furious brother.
"Where were you?!" He shouted, his big hands running over the small face and body to check if he was injured or not, pulling the boy into a tight hug as the man took deep breathes of relief. "I was so worried- so worried, you hear me? I've been looking for you for hours!" The tall man spoke into the hug. "What were you thinking, disappearing like that?"
"I- I didn't mean to worry you." (K/N) whispered to his brother's hair, hugging him even tighter, burying his face to hide his tears. "I was- with this lady... she was helping me."
You felt your heart skipping a beat when he mentioned you, making his brother break the hug and look at you instead. "Helping you? Helping you with wha-" You watched his eyes widened as he finally got the chance to look at you, and you knew he was the owner of the green eyes your heart seemed to long for.
"Y-you-" he stammered, chest rising and falling as if he had just run a marathon, but you weren't any better. You could feel your face, your whole body heating up, the thought of hypothermia you just had in your mind a few minutes ago now turning into cursing the global warming.
You watched him as his green eyes wandered down to your hand that stood awkwardly next to you, following the red thread hanging from your pinky to his.
Never in your life had you seen the end of the string, you smiled at the thought. It would always blend in with the world, disappearing into the void, and you had tried to follow it to the end countless times, too eager to find your soulmate, to see where it tied your fate to, failing each time.
But now, you felt your hands shaking with the overwhelming sense of being able to follow it to the end, the end where it was only a few meters away from you, where it tied to the large hand that reached at yours without even thinking.
It felt warm and safe as you touched his hand, both of you smiling uncontrollably.
"You look cold." He spoke the first time to you, but it felt like you had been together forever, like you knew him as well as you did yourself, not feeling the slightest bit of awkwardness.
"I am cold." You giggled, and you could see how it only then occurred to him that your jacket was hanging on his little brother's shoulders, and you stood there wet and shaking with only but a sweatshirt. The green eyes you would find yourself admiring from then on widened with concern, quickly shrugging his jacket off and wrapping you with it.
"Here, wear this." He muttered as he zipped it as far as he could, making you both giggle.
Maybe it was an odd day to meet your soulmate, you thought, probably not the best, too, since both of you were wet from head to toe, hair sticking to your face, shivering from the cold, and probably a mess (and sick the next day). But however it was, you wouldn't change it for the world.
~~~
You got a red earphone next year in secret santa.
Hajime got a red earphone next year in secret santa, too.
A/n: if you made it this far, thank you for reading! Here's a lil ❤ for u. Funny thing, this red earphone thing is real lol, it happened to me a few days ago!! But it didn't end with me finding iwa, no no, we couldn't find neither iwa nor the boys red earphones and I dropped him back to his home.
hi baee congrats on 600 !! 💖 for your event, i like that i give good advice to my friends plus iwaizumi <33 thank you 🥺

A/N: baby baby hi!!! I hope you like this muah
genre/warnings: fluff, mutual pining, kissing at the end, one (1) curse word I think

"Helloo," you chime as you pull a chair next to the table your friends are sitting.
"Y/N! Talk of the- ah!" Oikawa groans when Iwaizumi elbows him on the ribs. "I meant, just the person I wanted to see!"
"Hey, Y/N." Iwaizumi answers almost immediately, burying himself in silence right after. Your gaze trails over him suspiciously. Both of them are in their training clothes, they must be grabbing a coffee before the training, you think. Iwaizumi looks a little tenser than usual today, you notice, your eyes watching him fidget.
"What were you talking about?" You ask with a smile you hope is neutral and not curious, your eyes still watching Iwaizumi's every move. You smirk when he fidgets harder.
Oikawa notices your eyes on his friend, a grin finding his soft, plush lips. "How's your day going, love?" Oikawa grins at you, knowing how much you (secretly) love the pet name. You're about to answer before you realize he has dodged your question.
Your eyes narrow for a second, catching the brunette's attempt on changing the subject that's loosely hanging in the air between him and Iwa. Your gaze locks on the said boy- he's not looking at you, though, his olive eyes watching his fingers hold a tempo, his lips pressed together gruffly.
"It's fine," you answer, a sly smile sitting on your lips right after. "Yours?"
"Amazing, this thing happened today-" Oikawa starts to explain yet another interesting (not likely) thing that happened to him that day, but your focus isn't on him.
"And yours, Iwa?"
"Hm? Fine." He answers, but Oikawa's smile says it wasn't exactly fine. "Aw, Iwa, don't be shy now. Tell them what's on your mind."
"Shut the fuck up!" Iwaizumi glares at the brunette, but the cat's already out of the bag. "Oh?" You say, sharing a secluded grin with Oikawa. "Is there something bothering you, Iwa?"
"Yes, there is. He needs advice." Oikawa answers before Iwaizumi can deny it. "And you always give the best advice! I've been trying to convince him into asking you for some, but dear Iwa doesn't want to bother you."
"Bother me?" You repeat with a giggle. "Of course not, Iwa, you're one of my best friends! You can always come to me when you want to talk. Besides, I like being the advice friend."
Iwaizumi looks persuaded, although that doesn't stop him from sending Oikawa an icy glance.
"Okay, okay." The boy laughs. "I'm leaving you two to it."
An awkward silence follows the brunette's leave, now both of you holding a nervous tempo with your fingers. It quickly turns into an improvised song, which Iwaizumi messes up, making you laugh.
"If you want advice about tone-deafness, I'm not sure how to help."
That seems to soften his tense shoulders a little, the thin line that's his lips breaking into a smile.
"No, but I might have to come for that again, sometime." He jokes with you.
"So," you say after another minute of silence.
"So," he repeats. " I have a problem."
"So I heard."
"It's about- erm- someone." He concludes.
"Someone?"
He nods. "Someone- I might have- I like."
"O-oh!" You exclaim, your eyes widening and fingers clenching. oh.
"Yeah." He shrugs, seemingly more relaxed now that the worst part is over. "I like them a lot, actually."
"Oh, that's- that's nice." You smile, and now it's your turn to avoid his eyes that are watching your each and every move. "Yeah, but I'm not sure, well, if they like me."
"Hm," you furrow your brows. "I think everyone has a little doubt in their minds when they like someone. But is there any reason you think they might not like you?"
"Well," he starts, shrugging. "They might be thinking of me as a friend rather than- yeah. We're friends and, and I didn't even mean to catch feelings but they're so nice and so cute, so-"
He stops his rambling when you chuckle. "I'm sure they like you back, Iwa."
"Do you really?"
"Yeah! You're the most amazing guy I know, and anyone is lucky to have you by their side, I'd say. And I'm sure they, even more, since I already know how you can get when you take a liking to someone."
"Hm?" He raises his head. "How do I get, then?"
"Well, first of all, you get really protective." You chuckle. "Like a lot. Not in a bad way, though I think it's pretty cute. It makes you feel safe when near you. You start letting yourself go a little more, make jokes that are way funnier than Toorus'-" he chuckles at that, "And you're just- anyone you make them feel like this, I'm sure they'll reciprocate your feelings."
He watches you with a quirked brow, mouth slightly agape as you realize, finally realize what you had just said. "I- of course, I don't mean-"
"You don't?"
"I mean, I do- but-"
He grins, making you stop trying to talk when you very obviously can't. "Well, Y/N," he leans a little forward with a regained confidence. "Do I make you feel like that?"
You stay silent for a few seconds, and his smile must be contagious since you're unable to suppress yours any longer. "If I say yes, what will you do?"
"If you say yes," he leans even more to you, his lips ghosting over yours, eyes locked on them, "I'll kiss you."
"And if I say n- hmph!" Your words are muffled before you can finish the sentence, and you're glad he takes a stop at this torturous teasing you had been making. "I don't-" he heaves, taking pride in the way you do too when he pulls back, "I don't think you'd say no, Y/N."
"But that's-" he's once again grazing your lips softly. "That's some advice." He grinns.
meeting filipino! iwaizumi's family scenario/headcanon
- filipino! iwaizumi pt. 2! gn! reader
- this one is for my loves @jesus-christ-super-ace and @nanaomiomi ! i've been wanting to write this one since the first part an they only urged me to do it more (thankfully)
- this will be written in headcanon format bc it's the only way i really know how to write these things but enjoy babes!

(lemme fangirl over this gif for a sec) WHY CANT HE BE REAL </3
okay moving on. you haven’t met the filipino side of iwa’s family yet, and he invited you over for his mom’s birthday.
referencing back to pt. 1, his family already knows he has an s/o.
everyone wants to meet the person that won kuya haji’s heart.
he decides to pick you up so you arrive together.
tita: “jowa mo yan haji?” (auntie: is that your s/o haji?)
iwa: “opo tita” (yes auntie)
tita: “ANG GANDA/GUAPO SIYA SEUS SUERTE KA TALAGA HAJI” (THEY'RE SO PRETTY/HANDSOME JESUS YOU'RE SO LUCKY HAJI)
they’d def call you anak despite just meeting you LMAO. (anak is a name parents/older family call their children.)
when meeting his mom, you bring her a gift and call her tita.
“thank you anak! pero call me nanay. ay! hajime! ang cute yung jowa mo!!” (thank you dear! but call me mom. oh! hajime! you're s/o is so cute!!)
iwa is so proud the entire time while lightly blushing and you’re RED AS A TOMATO
cue the mano po to his lola (grandma), lolo (grandpa), and elder family members. (mano po is a gesture done by younger family towards older family for respect.)
you win points from them for being so respectful
omg his little cousins would call you ate/kuya right off the bat. (kind of like san and kun but used for older cousins/siblings in the family. ate is for girls, and kuya for boys.)
you’d get excited over all the filipino food while iwa puts food on your plate for you (heart throb talaga sha) and you guys sit at a table.
you steal his eggrolls and he'll steal spoonfuls of rice and ulam and the family would be kilig. (ulam is food eaten with rice and kilig is like a giddy feeling towards romance.)
all his titos (uncles), titas (aunties), mom, and dad would bombard you with so many questions about school, your guys' relationship, and about your own pinoy family.
you're super nervous because WE ALL KNOW how judgmental filipinos can be at times.
dw tho! they love your personality; much to your relief.
after all the questioning, you and hajime play with the younger children.
he would let them hang onto his arms while he swings them pls. and you'd give them piggyback rides.
you'll all play outdoor games.
if there was a crying baby, you and iwa would try to put them to sleep and they def look like your child.
cue the "eeeeee" and "ooohhhhh" from LITERALLY EVERYONE.
talking to you tita baby.
literally makes you blush so hard and you both become so flustered; iwa is just looking away like "stop pls"
they tease him more for how he acts.
AFTER THAT, it's time for karaoke 🤪🤪
i feel like iwa will be a good singer. like he can sing good but not extravagantly. BUT STILL GOOD YK???
you'd let tito sing "total eclipse of the heart" first and they'd want you two to do a duet.
if you don't want to, iwaizumi will assure you it's okay and he'll sit out and watch everyone with you.
BUT NAH HE AIN'T GETTING OUT OF IT YOU'RE MAKING HIM SING.
"HOY HAJIME KANTAHIN KA PARA SA JOWA MO" (HEY HAJIME SING FOR YOUR S/O)
KILIGGGG (they do that a lot)
now he can't escape. he's going to make you pay by serenading you with a love song.
he'll choose something sappy like "kahit maputi na ang buhok ko" by rey valera (reference to last post) or "with a smile" by eraserheads.
THE COMMENTS FROM HIS FAMILY ARE SO FUNNY AND THEY TEASE YOU TWO SO MUCH
proud smirk on his face. (and when they aren't looking, he'll kiss your forehead.)
if you do duet, you guys would duet something lowk throwback like "halik" by aegis or "my way" by frank sinatra.
whether you sing more or not, haji will just discreetly snuggle with you on the couch to avoid the teasing while everyone else sings.
LINE DACING TOGETHER PLS-
singing both maligayang bati and happy birthday when his mom blows the candles.
you'll share a slice of cake and you'll try to feed him but he refuses because HE DOESNT WANT TITA TO KILIG AGAIN
but he'll give in ONCE bc you're his love but call you an idiot/dumbass and look away
when it's time to leave everyone's like "bye anak come back soon!"
when he asks for their opinion of you, they think you're an amazing person, already count you as a part of the family, and 100% approve of you as haji's jowa.
they also say he's fallen hard for you.
and he agreed with them <3

making halo halo with filipino! iwaizumi hajime at 3 A.M scenario/headcanons
IM BACK WITH KUYA IWA YALL 😩😩 this is lowk taking up my life and i don’t regret it.
credit to @jesus-christ-super-ace ! <3 you /p
gn! reader as always and enjoy :)

it’s a hot night in japan, and haji is sleeping over at your house for the weekend.
although you and iwa are trying to keep cool, the heat is still making it so HARD to sleep.
if you aren’t turning in bed hajime is. it’s been a good 2 hours of trying to sleep in the hot ass heat.
haji: “babe tulog ka ba?” (babe are you sleeping?)
you: “no. ang init kasi” *pout* (no. it’s too hot)
he’d turn to face you and you both decide to eat something refreshing to cool you guys down.
he starts to smile and asks you “you want to make halo halo?” (if you don’t know what it is google it bc idk how to explain it LMAO)
you also start to smile and start to drag him out of bed so you can make halo halo.
I KNOW this man sleeps shirtless so the whole time he’s just there WITH HIS BIG ARMS LIKE MMMMM
even though it was literally three in the morning, your parents weren’t home due to night shift (literally idfk just go with it 💀)
so you don’t have to worry with how loud the ice shaver machine is.
haji would open all the canned ingredients, and you’d get the cups, spoons, and prepare the machine.
omg when he’s done he’ll come behind you and hug you from behind while you prepare the ice shaver 🥰🥰
just so it isn’t completely quiet, iwa plays a playlist with music you two both like.
while the ice shaver is shaving the ice you put in, you guys would playfully dance together to a pop song that came on like sigurado by zack tabudlo (if you don’t know that song OMG LISTEN ITS SO GOOD)
having competitions to see who can make the most favorable halo halo (in terms of what you/the other likes in their halo halo, presentation, etc.)
your ingredients would be like filipino ice cream (ube, buko pandan) or just regular ice cream like vanilla or mango. (ube is purple yam and buko pandan is coconut and pandan leaves)
(imagine seeing his arms scooping up the ice cream to put in your cup oh jesus 😮💨)
the reg stuff like beans/chick peas, nata de coco, jackfurit, condensed/evaporated milk, corn (MAIS KUNYELO 👀), kaong, and all the other classic stuff. ALSO STICKOS UBE OR ANY OTHER FLAVOR YOU LIKE YUMMM.
it’s late so soft iwa is out (LETS GOOOO) and he’d be feeding some of his to you and vice versa.
taking pictures of each other eating halo halo bc it’s like a “late at home” date 😩 (like yk those “on a date kinda nervous” pictures? those kinds)
he’d give you extra of your favorite ingredient from his to make you happy (ie. i love jackfruit so he’d give some of his jackfruit)
in return you give him some of the ingredients you don’t like (if any) if not, you’ll also give sone of his favorites.
him smearing ice cream on your nose and then lightly laughing at you.
omg if you have long hair, i feel like he’d tie it back for you if you didn’t already so it wouldn’t get in your halo halo 💕🦋😮💨🤪😩💕🥰
sharing sweet kisses from all the sweet ass jellies, ice cream, and halo halo in general.
just to make it last longer, after you guys finish your first cup, you share another one together while cleaning up <3
makes sure you drink water afterwards bc you just had a sobrang sweet dessert at 3 AM and doesn’t want you getting a sore throat or something.
lazily cleaning up together while the sleepiness finally hits you two. (you guys literally just leave the dishes in the sink for the next day)
while you’re putting the rest of the refrigerated foods away, he’ll wait for you at the doorway/entrance way of your kitchen before going upstairs.
you guys hold hands while going up the stairs and after finding a comfortable cuddling position (iwa = big spoon) you guys doze off right away.
I HOPE THIS WAS GOOD ITS A LOT OF FLUFF SO IM LIVING HAHAHHA
if you have any requests (kuya haji related or not) feel free to leave them in my asks!

pamamanhikan with timeskip! half-filipino! iwaizumi hajime
creds/request from my bb @nanaomiomi (I MISS YOU SM MWAH)
if you don’t know what “pamamanhikan” is, DW I DIDN’T EITHER LMAO
pamamanhikan: meeting your partners family/parents. (traditionally: groom meeting the bride’s family to show marriage is not between just the two people, but the entire family) (ty for telling me <3)
non-gender specified! filipino!reader (idk if it works gender neutrally so i didn't add reader pronouns) enjoy! cw: light language

CONGRATS READER YOU’RE ENGAGED TO KUYA HAJI 🥳🥳
both your families decided to keep filipino tradition, and do pamamanhikan.
you guys agreed, so now iwa and his family are on his way to your house.
both of you have met each other’s families before, and your families know a little bit of each other, so it’s mainly a "get to know each other" session.
when haji’s family arrives, they bring some gifts like their family adobo, wine, and soda.
your family made some delicious food like lumpia, sinigang, and turon for desert. (lumpia: eggrolls, sinigang: sour soup with vegetables and meat, turon: banana with brown sugar wrapped in spring roll wrapper; fried.)
the parents introduce themselves to each other and it’s going really smoothly! the conversation is general and small.
after the small talk, haji will ask your parents for your their permission to marry you.
HE’S LOWKEY SWEATING HIS ASS OFF EVEN THOUGH HE’S SURE EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE
“nay, tay, pinapayagan kong magkasal si y/n?” (mom, dad, will you allow me to marry y/n?) (nay and tay is used a shortened version of nanay and tatay, as a nickname used by your partner in this case)
“oo. pwede yan hajime” (yes. that’s allowed hajime)
claps and cheers from you and his family. (you guys def call him out for being nervous and he denies it)
now, in celebration, you guys eat dinner! sm good fucking food god bless and your families get to know each other.
your moms compliment each other on the foods they cooked, share recipes, and cooking tips.
your dads talk about work and about you two.
again, they’re getting to know each other so they talk about themselves, where they’re from, their jobs, etc.
you and haji will have small conversation while they have their one on one talks and you’ll tease him even more for being nervous from earlier.
“awww was my fiancé nervous on what my parents would say 🥺”- you
*shoves food in your mouth* “no. i don’t know what you saw mahal ko” (mahal ko- my love)
giggles from both of you AND YOUR FAMILIES GIVING YOU TWO THE KILIG LOOK (kilig- giddy feeling toward romance)
you guys won't have many plans for your wedding yet (this is happening a few weeks after he proposed), but you’ll share the little information you two have planned so far like who’s being invited, attire ideas, and a vague idea what the venue will be like/when it would seasonally be.
BE PREPARED FOR ALL THE EMBARRASSING STORIES FROM YOUR CHILDHOODS
you guys will die of embarrassment before you even get married
your dad will show baby videos that are really funny and haji’s parents will show embarrassing photos they didn’t get the chance to show you yet.
(watch one of them be haji’s messy face after eating ice cream HAHAHAH)
all of the parents will give you two advice for married life and relationships in general like to trust each other, make time for each other, never go to bed angry, and more.
CUE THE “kung nasaktan ka yung baby ko sapakin kita hajime ha.” FROM YOUR DAD LMAO (if you hurt my baby i'll punch you okay hajime.)
*nervous gulp* “opo tay” (yes dad)
OFC IT’S JUST A PLAYFUL JOKE BC THEY LOVE HIM BUT just a warning
“hoi, y/n. kung hihirapan ka kasi tigas olo si hajime, sabihin mo sa akin” - haji’s dad (hey, y/n. if you have a hard time because hajime is stubborn, tell me)
“why am i being attacked” - haji
“same to you hajime. i'll throw my tsinelas at y/n” - your mom (tsinelas- slippers)
“WH- WHY” - you
laughs from all of you guys
overall it was a great experience and really fun night for everyone. all of you are now well acquainted and your parents might hang out together sometimes bc they have SO MUCH CHISMIS and enjoy each other
“sige. we’ll be heading out!”
“ingat kayo!”
you kiss haji goodbye and YOUR PARENTS WILL KILIG: “eeeee!!!”
I HOPE YOU ENOYED THAT BB! i tried my best to research to make pamamanhikan accurate as possible but it may be vague.
I RELIED SO HARD ON TRANSLATION SITES FOR THIS PLS MAHIHIRAPAN KO SA TAGALOG BWISIT

half-filipino!iwaizumi and reader make oikawa try balut for the first time (scenario/hc)
creds to @jesus-christ-super-ace for the idea mwah mwah mwah
reader is implied as filipino and gn!reader as always.
this is more of a platonic writing between oikawa and filo iwa and reader, but there’s a hint of ✨relationship✨ for you and iwa.
for dialogue, t=tooru h=hajime y= you
CW: LOTS OF CURSING LMAOO OUR CURSES SOUND SO BAD TRANSLATED INTO ENGLISH 💀💀
god i hope my characterization for oikawa is accurate enough 💀💀

this all started when oikawa and iwa chan made a bet.
if iwa lost, he would have to take oikawa out to lunch, but if oikawa lost, he’d have to try balut. (balut: duck embryo that is boiled and eaten from the shell)
oikawa ended up overestimating himself and lost to iwa chan.
iwa tells you about the forfeit oikawa has to do, and YOU IMMEDIATELY WANT IN.
i saw a post that said oikawa was prolly a sore loser and I 100% AGREE esp in this case. oikawa alr knows what balut is, AND HE DOES NOT WANNA EAT IT
he’d act all whiny, come up with reasons how iwa didn’t win, and avoid the forfeit at all costs. i mean i don’t blame him IT’S AN EMBRYO.
so here you two are. LITERALLY dragging oikawa from his house to yours to force him to eat balut.
t: “NOOO I DON’T WANT TO. STOP. KIDNAPPERS. I DON’T KNOW THEM.”
h: *bonks oikawa’s head* “PUTANGINA KA SHITTYKAWA GUSTO MO SAPAKIN KITA?? (you bitch (there’s really no exact translation for putangina mo) shittykawa you want me to smack you??) THIS IS YOUR CONSEQUENCE FOR COMING UP WITH THE BET IN THE FIRST PLACE”
t: “BUT IWA CHAN YOU ALREADY SAPAK-ED ME. Y/N-CHAN HELPPP” (HIS TAGALOG WOULD BE SO SLANGED TOO PLS)
y: “do you hear something hajime?”
h: “nah. i don’t know what you’re talking about.”
t: *proceeds to whine even more*
when you three finally reach your intended destination with the balut waiting on the table, oikawa tries to bolt out your premises, only to get thrown over iwaizumi’s shoulder.
h: "don't make us tie you down gago" (gago: asshole/bitch. just an insult LMAO)
iwa would offer to eat one first himself to show oikawa it really isn't a big deal even though his O.A ass still thought otherwise.
if you also like balut, you'll eat one with haji saying how delicious it is and how oikawa is really missing out.
if you don't like balut, (like me) (DON'T ATTACK ME PLS I HAVEN'T HAD IT IN A WHILE I'LL TRY AGAIN NEXT TIME I HAVE IT TO SEE IF MY OPINION CHANGED) you'll try it with oikawa to make it better.
omg oikawa gags so many times bc he really doesn't wanna do it and you and haji are just like
"gago ka pala :|. kainin mo na. ang tagal ka." (son of a bitch :|. just eat it you’re taking too long)
during the time tooru stalls to eat the damn thing, you and haji are sharing other snacks like boy bawang and skyflakes like the power couple you are.
t: "iwa-chan, y/n-chan :(((( stop flirting it's gross"
y: "by the time you're done that SINGLE balut there won't be any choc nut for you so bilisin mo." (choc nut: filipino candy bar. bilisin mo: hurry up)
both your eyes are literally glued to him so he won't spit it out or run away again.
when he FINALLY decided to eat it he'll close his eyes so hard and sadly chew it.
y: "how is it"
t: "i don’t like itt"
h: "too bad you only ate half of it when you have to eat the whole thing."
he'll eat the rest while downing some mango juice (gina brand ofc)
his review is literally "never again. no. i respect your food but it's not exquisite in my taste bud's opinion."
in addition, you and tooru managed to come up with a plan yourselves. you guys literally have telepathy, and knew what the other was thinking with one mischievous look. iwa was so sus tho.
t: "iwa-chan!! what is this called again"
h: "anak ng- choc nut"
y: "you mean CHOC ON DEEZ NUTS" (I'M SO SORRY I LITERALLY CAME UP WITH IT IN THE MOMENT I HAD TO INCLUDE IT BAHAHAH)
you and oikawa just burst out laughing while iwa is there like 🙂🩴
haji is literally about to grab his tsinelas (slipper) and sampal (slap) you guys right there and then. he will def take away the choc nut and make tooru eat another balut. (joke lang...unless? 😟)
after the balut shenanigans, the three of you will hang out and continue to eat filipino food oikawa is actually familiar with, be chismosas (gossipers or “tea spillers” in modern terms), and do what you all do on normal hangouts. all of you get to third wheel each other LMAOO.
I HOPE THIS IS OKAY I REALLY TRIED LMAO
GUYS ARE YOU PROUD I DIDN’T USE GOOGLE TRANSLATE AT ALL FOR THIS SCENARIO :DD (if something is wrong filo moots pls tell me 😀)
i should start tagging my kuya iwa supporters. lmao. @jesus-christ-super-ace @nanaomiomi <3 yall frfr 🤪

this makes watching stuff with oikawa so fun and worthwhile.
you guys would be watching in tagalog dub and he’d be shocked to find out some of the things haji calls him are so rude.
t: OH HE JUST SAID WHAT YOU CALL ME IWA. YOU CALL ME A GAGO- … I THOUGHT YOU SAID THAT MEANS IM TALENTED 😞
WHEN THE WIND ELEMENTS GET THEIR PRIZE OF GETTING LAID BY KAMBAL (pls that was so humorous i can’t) OIKAWA MAKES SM SMUG COMMENTS you guys end up laughing a lot.

t: WHY’D THEY KILL CAPTAIN GURRERO WHAT
t: KAMBAL AREN’T SUPPOSED TO DO THAT WHY WHAT ARE THEY DOING NO
don’t forget his tagalog would be pretty slanged but he’s trying
lowkey predicted the ending tho. he’d be like “is this some ending where the lesson is family is stronger than anything or something”
5 minutes later: “Malakas nga ang lukso ng dugo, pero hindi matitinag ang pamilya.” (the bond of blood might be strong, but the bond of family is stronger)
t: I KNEW IT HAH YOU HEARD ME RIGHT
you and iwa: SHUSH WATCH THE DAMN SHOW OIKAWA
all in all, oikawa would really enjoy trese. he likes the folklore and he got to learn more about his besties.
he finds all of the aswangs and creatures very cool and interesting even tho they may look ugly/scary to him.
he liked that it was funny and really showed the culture of the philippines. he ofc would say all this to both you and haji.
he would text you two in the middle of the night that he got a nightmare of a tiyanak or xa mul. you guys would lowk laugh but reassure him they aren’t real for like two weeks.
he’d also swear he saw the white lady of balente drive while walking home from practice even though we’re in japan???
you guys wouldn’t express it, but you guys both appreciate oikawa enjoying it and his willingness to know more about the legends and myths from where you two came from. oikawa def knows you two feel this way tho.

Iwaizumi Hajime Analysis
So Iwaizumi is my favourite Haikyuu!!! Character, and since I have a lot of free time right now I decided to analyse his character. I haven't read the manga yet, and it been awhile since I watched the series as a whole, so it isn't 100% accurate. I will also refer to how I understood Iwaizumi's character and what I think that he will work as. I hope you will enjoy this!
His birthday is the 10th of June, which makes him a Gemini.
He is stubborn and reliable, and we can see that a lot of other characters look up to him, such as Kyōtani, Hanamaki and other characters (I got vibes that even kageyama looks up to him). He can read Oikawa like an open book and care a lot for him, even if he shows it in aggressive ways. I am not professional or anything, but I did some reading about Gemini and found out a few interesting things.
Also, fun fact, his date is the day in which Alexander the Great died and Oikawa's birthday is the day in which he was born.
Giminis are good at comforting people and making them smile.
Gemini tries to avoid conflict and will walk away before things get too heated.
But if you will force him into a corner he will not hesitate to retaliate.
Gemini is a fiercely loyal friend, ally and lover.
Gemini is NOT afraid to tell you exactly what the think.
They will ignore people thay don't care about, and if you bother them they will yell at you and fight with you, but that only means they care, but if they will simply ignore you then that means they don't care for you anymore.
Gemini has a soft heart wrapped up in a though shell.
They are always flirting, even when they don't know they're flirting.
They have different sides and you seriously don't want to see them when they are mad.
I will refer to this things that I could see in Iwaizumi character. First of all, we all know that he is good at comforting people, he knew what to do and what to say to Oikawa in a way that will make the rest of the team feel better as well (the scene in which he said that Oikawa will buy everyone food).
He is pretty chill (unless Oikawa annoys him), and we can see he doesn't really like to fight- he stopped Oikawa from slapping Kageyama and the easier way to make Kyōtani listen to him would be to fight him. But when he is in the corner he is so powerful. We can see this in his games as well- he is pretty average but he can win if he wants to. We can see it in the gama against Date Tech.
He is super loyal and care deeply for his teammates and especially for Oikawa. He also speaks up his mind. We can see that he isn't soft, he tells the truth, and I think that his teammates really appreciate it because they can trust him to say the truth, even if it hurts.
We can see that he doesn't care about other players. He cares about his teamates and look at other players (off field) with blank expression.
He may look though and scary for someone who doesn't know him but he is really nice to his friends and people who aren't really his friends, such as Hinata.
He isn't flirty like Oikawa, but I think that a lot of people in his school have a crush on him because he is
Teh ace of their vollyball team.
Super hot and muscelar
Nice when you get to know him
Hang out with Oikawa
Good at every sport.
So like I think that girls have crush on him but are afraid to talk to him because Oikawa has all this good guy vibes and Iwaizumi has this bad boy mystrious vibes. But a lot of boys look up to him because he is super cool??? And good at everything??? And that crazy dude in the vollyball team respect him???
But I don't think that he is flirty. I think he is nice and people see it the wrong way, like he sees some girl that carrys a lot of books and offer help. You know, stuff like that.
Geminis have two sides to their personality (twins and all of that), and we can see it in Iwaizumi- he is serious and stuff but is also goofy and dorky and stuff. Like that scene with the fish named Oikawa or his love to Godzilla. I also don't think we saw him mad in the TV show, he is often irrated by Oikawa, but isn't mad at other characters, and we can see that Oikawa knows when he crossed the limit (he automaticly apologized after referring to Iwa as his mom). I think that other than Oikawa not much can Irrate him, but when he is mad at someone this someone better six feet under.
I hope that you enjoy, I really have to go so maybe I will do a second part. Sorry about the spelling and grammer mistake, this isn't my native language. You are welcome to reblog or make a like or whatever.

a/n: rewriting an unfinished story from wattpad. inspired by dance academy and dance moms. this is just a intro so the first chapter is coming after. i loooove dance academy btw^^
Charlène Aveline's Dance Company. A prestigious dance school that teaches children from 11-18. With 319 acres of land, the school is absolutely stunning. With fifteen different buildings including a shopping center for students, its better then most universities in Sydney. The most impressive however was the competitive team. There was an elite group of 6 or 7 senior dancers that traveled across the world competing with the best of the best in the industry.
Oikawa and Y/n. Now Oikawa has been his best friend for years. Iwaizumi was proud of his friend for being in the top two. Girls flocked to him after class and teachers constantly praised his ballet skills. Y/n had been Oikawa's friend for years. Iwaizumi was her friend too, but not as close as Oikawa was to her. Y/n and Oikawa fought for the top spot at the end of every semester and many students thought the couple would be cute together.
Many students, but not Iwaizumi. He knew Oikawa didn't harbor feelings for the girl, but knowing that the majority felt that his friend did made him believe it a little bit. Naturally Iwaizumi didn't get as much of the spotlight as his friends, but he didn't mind. With their next year of high school starting, Iwaizumi found it quite difficult to live in his shadow.
He snapped out of his own thoughts and continued drinking his smoothie. As the last day of summer vacation, Iwaizumi and friends were on the beach soaking in the last few days of summer. He watched Oikawa and Y/n sprint back to the rest of the group. He sighed. Oikawa seemed to have forgot his promise to help Iwaizumi over the summer.
At least he wouldn't have to worry about auditions this year. After being on the senior team for two years at least, you wouldn't have to audition anymore unless someone threatened your spot. He watched Y/n laugh as Oikawa whispered something to her. Iwaizumi huffed again. He was going to have to remind his friend about the conversation they had.

On the way back to their dorm, Iwaizumi stopped in his tracks. "What's wrong Iwa-chan? Not ready for school yet?" "Did you forget?" Oikawa smiled as if he had no idea what he was talking about. "How you were supposed to help me with that?" "Well you should've reminded me. Nothing to worry about we have the whole school year ahead of us." Iwaizumi rolled his eyes. Of course he would say that. As the last bit of sunlight sunk below the waves, Iwaizumi closed the curtains.
Another year where Oikawa was the star of the show; Iwaizumi nearly dreaded it. It surprisingly didn't take long to fall asleep as all those all nighters finally caught up to him. The dorms soon fell silent where the only voice heard were nocturnal creatures calling to one another.
As much as Iwaizumi hated waking up early, he preferred it. This was the only time he could get any homework done or go to the gym because Oikawa consistently without fail asked him to hang out every single day. Oikawa surely had other friends considering how popular he was. Iwaizumi threw on a t-shirt and grabbed his gym bag. He quickly scanned the room for anything he might've missed and left for the gym. The gym was an impressive two story building with a pool in the basement.
Iwaizumi never had time to see the pool because of his already tight schedule. After waking his body up and completing his work out, he stops for his morning coffee. Oikawa's shenanigans drove him nuts and Iwaizumi was convinced that if he didn't drink coffee Oikawa would drive him to death. Iwaizumi quickly drank his coffee and headed back to the dorms.
His second favorite part of the day was eating breakfast. The dorm's café was free for students and the food was always piping hot and fresh. Y/n often joined him along with her friends Kourtney and Elissa. Y/n waved as Iwaizumi sat down. She had gotten his breakfast before he arrived. She smiled as she passed him a plate of egg whites, bacon, and pancakes with strawberries on the side.
"You never get tired of eating the same thing every day?" Iwaizumi asked. The girl shook her head playfully. "How can I when we eat the same thing? Plus the pancakes are like my version of coffee." He watched as she carefully poured syrup over her stack of pancakes.
Oikawa joined breakfast rather late. "There's no need for me to eat today. Someone stopped by my dorm and brought me fresh fruit. Isn't that nice?" Elissa rolled her eyes, "That happens every morning." "I know! It's great being Oikawa." Iwaizumi hit him across the head. "That's enough narcissism for the day. Let me at least enjoy my breakfast." "Iwa your so mean."
Oikawa rubbed the side of his face and slurped his tea loudly. "What bs do you think Mrs. Aveline will pull this time?" Kourtney asks. "Oo oo I'll go first," Y/n raised her hand like a game show, "She's going to add someone new to the team who hasn't auditioned." "That's a given," Elissa smirked. "Maybe this time she'll divorce her husband and won't sue him?" Iwaizumi suggested.
Oikawa laughed. "My money is betting that she's gonna do some really fucked up shit. Maybe she'll even go to jail." Kourtney pointed her fork in Oikawa's direction. "She's not that stupid y'know?" "That lady has lost her marbles. She is definitely going to jail. I can feel it."
The first bell rang and the group hurried to get their books and head to class. In addition to dance, students had to take four common core classes and one dance class of their choice which meant one style of dance they got for six hours a week instead of the usual one hour for each style of dance daily.
Iwaizumi naturally didn't pay attention much. He knew teachers had no choice but to pass him as he was on the dance team. Mrs. Aveline wouldn't know what to do if his grades were too bad to continue being on the team. He was a bit excited to dance, but Monday's were always ballet class. He wasn't the best at ballet, but Y/n was his partner in this class so that made it much more bearable.
The entire class was spent making jokes about various things and getting sent into the hallway for disrupting the class. As soon as the pair got into the hallway they burst out laughing. "C'mon let's go to the vending machine for a drink. All this laughing made me thirsty." Y/n took Iwaizumi's hand and led him upstairs. The dance studios were all on the first and second floors as well as the basement. The vending machines were right outside of the cafeteria on the third floor.
Occasionally some of the younger dancers would blush when they saw Iwaizumi but nothing too major. He paid for both his and Y/n's drink before sitting down next to her against the wall. "Ms. Harris might as well let us not go to her class. We're already star ballet dancers." Iwaizumi chuckled. "Your the prima ballerina. Should we get back to class?" Y/n nodded and the two threw the empty soda cans away in a nearby trashcan.
By the time they got back, ballet was already over and it was time for the company to take over the studio. The senior team had to practice with the company because Mrs. Aveline expected them to join the company after graduation. It had been a running joke since freshmen year that she actually expected them to join the company.
Oikawa was already waiting for the two at the same spot they had stretched in for the past two years. Kourtney and Elissa soon joined the trio once their class were over. The final members of the team joined and class began. Iwaizumi hated practicing with the company because all of them were getting paid to perform and were grown adults.
Some days it was difficult to keep up, especially when there was a show coming up. Mrs. Aveline expected everything to be perfect. Iwaizumi was almost certain no average person would be able to tell if there was the tiniest mistake in their show. During one of the water breaks, Mrs. Aveline rushed out the studio with no explanation.
"I bet it's her husband calling to give her divorce papers," Frankie exclaimed. It was Frankie's last year on the team so Mrs. Aveline was trying her best to convince him to join the company. Frankie had his eyes set to be a dancer for Hollywood movies and already invested in an agent. Iwaizumi thought he might find better luck being a internet contortionist and doing a cheap promo every once in a while if the money ran dry.
Before either of them could deny or support Frankie's claim, Mrs. Aveline rushed in with a girl following behind her. She introduced the girl as Célia Lafitte. She had thick dark brown curls that flowed freely down to her waist. Bright green eyes and pink lip gloss greeted the group. Didn't she know makeup wasn't allowed for practice? She wore a cropped black leotard and black shorts. She plastered a smile across her face and said that Lia was just fine.
"What did I say?" Y/n whispered to Iwaizumi. Iwaizumi wondered what crazy scheme Mrs. Aveline had planned this time. Once introductions were over, Mrs. Aveline abruptly ended company practice and was ready for her dance team. "Lia here will be joining our team as she is a transfer student from our ballet school in France."
Lia waltzed over to stand next to Oikawa which slightly pushed Y/n out of the way. "Now that that's settled, let's get on with assignments. This week we're going to Gold Coast, Queensland. I've decided to do five numbers. Since Lia is new, she'll be getting a solo so I can see where she's at."
"Of fucking course," Y/n mumbled under her breath." "Frankie will also be getting a lyrical solo as well as Y/n. There will also be a jazz-ballet duet with Iwaizumi and Y/n. The group routine will be ballet. Let's start stretching and work on the group routine." Oikawa congratulated Y/n by giving her a high five. Iwaizumi found it strange that there was a duet for the first week back.
There was no surprise the group routine featured Lia as well. With how much attention she was getting, you would think they were in a relationship. After around two and a half hours of practice, Mrs. Aveline cleared the studio for the soloists and the duet. Iwaizumi was glad he wouldn't have to wait for the soloists to finish to go back to his room.
Mrs. Aveline didn't seem to interested in their duet and once choreographing it, she left them on their own to perfect it. "Isn't it great we get our own duet Iwaizumi? I get to do it with you so of course we're gonna win." Iwaizumi did a few practice turns. "I expected Oikawa to get the duet to be honest."
Y/n look confused. "You rather not do it?" He sighed. "Since you and Oikawa always fight for the top spot and all." Mrs. Aveline shoved the two into the studio across the hall so they could work with Maria. Maria was one of the teachers and often traveled with the team. Maria was like an older sister or cousin to Iwaizumi.
During the run through of the dance, he had to pick Y/n up. She giggled and complimented his muscles. Breakfast with Y/n may be great, but hearing her say that was definitely number one on his list. He took pride in his muscles and it was nice to know someone recognized his hard work. Maria eventually let the two of them go and Oikawa was eagerly waiting right outside the studio door.
"Iwa-chan why do you think so highly of Y/n and not me?" Iwaizumi took a swig of his water. "Don't you think it's weird how you say that even when your speaking English?" "But Y/n and I are equal," he continued to whine. "If I buy you take out will you stop whining?" Oikawa's eyes lit up, "We have to hurry before they close."
"You and that new girl seemed pretty touchy feely," Iwaizumi pointed out. The two were sitting in their dorm room sprawled out on the floor doing homework. "Oh yeah she's totally into me. Maybe I'll date her, maybe I won't. He shrugged. Everyone's into you, Iwaizumi said under his breath. "Maybe a relationship would be good for you," Iwaizumi suggested. "Maybe it would be good for you too. Let's see who can get a girlfriend first."
"Who would I even date?" Iwaizumi put down his pencil and picked up his chopsticks. "Y/n, of course. You didn't think I forgot did you?" "Kinda hoping you had. Put a can in it until tomorrow will you?" "Anything for Iwa-chan."

a/n: shortened the story to 12 chapters instead of 20. as always for previous parts check my masterlist :)
Iwaizumi wondered things. He wondered if Y/n liked him. He wondered what he would have for lunch. He even wondered if his dad remembered to send him an allowance. He also wondered why he had an alarm. Oikawa was doing a better job at waking him up then his alarm anyways.
Iwaizumi groggily rubbed his eyes. "What are you doing?" Oikawa smiled. Why was he so energetic this early? "I'm helping you get a date with Y/n." Iwaizumi lazily stood up. "Thought it was a competition?" He yawned and stretched. Oikawa followed him to the bathroom and continued yapping while Iwaizumi brushed his teeth.
"I'm obviously going to win, but you won't go out with Y/n after I win. I'm going to get you to win if you like it or not." Iwaizumi hummed. "Mhm. You'll follow me to the gym then?" "Already packed your gym bag for you." Of course he did. Iwaizumi and Oikawa headed off to the gym. It was still relatively warm considering it was September. Oikawa talked nonstop about the different "techniques" used to get a girl's attention.
On the way to the gym they ran into Lia. Oikawa and Lia began chatting and Iwaizumi took advantage of this to run ahead of them. Once at the gym he was able to relax and exercise. It was just him and his thoughts. He wasn't the best at coming up with date ideas, but he wanted something simple enough for a first date. "I've got just the thing for you." Oikawa appeared seemingly out of nowhere.
"You can take her on a picnic. Just the two of you. Of course this means we have to pack the picnic basket." Oikawa kept going on and on. Despite not wanting Oikawa's help, he found his idea helpful. The rest of the day was uneventful until it was time for practice. The group routine went smoother then yesterday, but Lia's timing was always off.
"If she can't keep up why not just kick her off the team," Y/n spat under her breath. "Seriously I thought she came from an "elite" ballet school," Iwaizumi added. Mrs. Aveline was clearly getting frustrated as well. "That's enough for now. Let's go get costumes shall we?" The team shuffled out the studio and down the hall to the seamstress.
Mrs. Aveline had her own personal team of seamstresses for all her performances. Iwaizumi was glad the costumes weren't too ridiculous. The boys wore a white shirt with flowy sleeves with a deep indigo vest over it. The girls wore matching tutu's with white embellishments on the bodice. The costumes were quickly packaged up so Iwaizumi and Y/n could try on their duet's costume.
Iwaizumi never knew that it was possible for her to get even prettier. The red and gold bodice paired with the tutu was absolutely stunning. Iwaizumi truly understood what breathtaking meant when she spun in the mirror. "So do you like it Iwaizumi?" He nodded. "You look pretty in it."
Lia was next and wore a simple black leotard with an elongated tutu for her modern solo routine. She twirled for Oikawa and even rubbed up against him. Iwaizumi rolled his eyes and focused on Y/n's solo costume instead. She wore a simple sage green leotard, but the flowy material of the skirt and bodice really made it shine. Mrs. Aveline was truly evil for giving three solos of similar if not the same dance style.
Once costumes were done being fitted, the team was released so the soloists could practice. It was now or never for Iwaizumi. "Y/n can I ask you something?" She gave that irresistible smile of hers that made Iwaizumi say yes to anything she said. "Yeah?" "During lunch tomorrow how about we go eat in the park instead? I'll bring food for you." "The park with the beautiful fountains?" Iwaizumi nodded. He was shocked that she was considering going with him.
"Yeah sure I'll go. I may run a little late as I have to drop something off that day." "As long as you show up." Iwaizumi's heart did a somersault as he watched her go back into the studio. Oikawa nudged him. "Don't just stand there like a dummy." "Were you watching the whole time?" Oikawa nodded proudly. "I'm so proud of you, but first we need to get some dinner. Then we can plan out the perfect date for you two." Iwaizumi followed after his friend. "What about homework?" Oikawa shrugged, "Missing one homework assignment won't kill you."
Reluctantly he followed Oikawa to the plaza and helped him finish the pizza he purchased. "Now it's time for Operation: Iwaizumi's Picnic Date to begin." "Shitty-kawa what are you talking about?" "Lia and I along with you are going to make this the best date ever." "So you already won the bet?" "Lia and I aren't dating yet. Now c'mon let us help you." Iwaizumi once again reluctantly agreed.
Lia was not very good with hiding as she emerged from a nearby bush Iwaizumi spotted her in since they arrived at the plaza. "Oikawa and I already made a menu. I decided to make madeleines and Oikawa said he'd make onigiri. All you have to do is make fruit sando (fruit sandwiches) and spring rolls. We'll even handle drinks, utensils, and all of that."
Spring rolls and fruit sandwiches seemed easy enough to make, but Iwaizumi was confused on why Lia was helping. The three set off for the nearest grocery store where Lia offered to pay for everything. "Oikawa?" "Mhm?" "Is Lia super rich?" "Not that I know of." "M..hm. and you don't find it weird that she's paying for all of our food?" "Girls do that for me all the time." Oikawa continued with his shopping. Sure enough Lia paid for all of it with her credit card.
They parted ways at the dorms and Oikawa and Iwaizumi headed to the dorm's kitchen. Not many people actually cooked their own food considering they had a cafeteria and if that wasn't enough the plaza had plenty of options. Still, they had a kitchen. Iwaizumi took his time making the sandwiches as he wanted everything to be perfect for their date. "Iwaizumi we don't have all night. Pick up the pace would ya?" Iwaizumi rolled his eyes. "Can't believe lover boy is saying that. Go ask Lia out on a date and leave me alone." "I will ask her on a date after the competition. What do I look like dating a girl that just arrived yesterday?" He whisper-yelled the last part.
The remaining time spent preparing the picnic was silent. They wrapped the food up and placed it in the fridge. Iwaizumi knew no one would be dumb enough to take food that had his name on it. Oikawa fell asleep as soon as he was done with his nightly skin care routine leaving Iwaizumi alone with his thoughts.
Anxiety filled his brain as he thought of countless conversation starters and possible answers to whatever Y/n might say. He took a deep breath to try and calm down. He would never make it to tomorrow if all he did was worry. He laid on his back and stared at the ceiling. Only three days of practice were left before the first competition of the season. There was without a doubt no chance of the duet losing.
He thought about dancing on stage with all of his friends to ease his worries. Once relaxed, he drifted off to sleep.
Iwaizumi was already worried enough about his date, but the whole table bringing it up at breakfast did not help him. Elissa was overjoyed that Y/n was going on a date, Serenity felt that it was finally time for the two to go out, Oikawa was giving himself the credit for the idea, and Lia was trying to tell Iwaizumi what to wear for the picnic. When the first bell rung Iwaizumi had never been happier.
"Ignore whatever they said. We don't need them to have fun," Y/n reminded him before heading to class. Iwaizumi used what she said as motivation to get through morning classes. He was a nervous wreck carrying the picnic basket to the park. He made sure to place the blanket from any nearby fountains that might soak the food. After counting to ten a few times, he sat cross-legged ready and waiting for Y/n.
He wasn't sure if it was a good or bad thing that he didn't have to wait long for Y/n to show up. She wore a simple off white crop that tied in the front with a sage green mini skirt and strappy white sandals. "I wasn't sure if I was supposed to bring something or not." She set the boxes of goodies down. The first contained a chocolate cake with strawberries on top with a side of more strawberries and whipped cream. The second box was full of various desserts such as eclairs and macarons.
"You didn't have to bring anything, but I'm glad you did." Y/n peeked inside the picnic basket and pulled out one of the sandwiches. She seemed amazed that the sandwich wasn't soggy. "I always wanted to try one of these." Iwaizumi grabbed a madeleine. "I made them myself." "Wish I could say I made those." The next few minutes were spent bonding over their growing suspicion of Lia and Mrs. Aveline.
"What made you start dancing anyway?" Y/n asked while cutting herself a slice of cake. "I always liked dancing as a kid. Oikawa got me into it seriously. There weren't a lot of dance schools for boys in Japan so in our last year of junior high we transferred. Here it was the first year of high school instead of last year for junior high, so we had to catch up a bit in terms of dance skills." "Look where you are now though."
Iwaizumi finished his onigiri before speaking again. "What made you come here then?" Y/n shrugged. "Someone at our Tampa studio was going to get a scholarship to come here so I tried out. Surprised I made it in. I came here about a month before you and Oikawa arrived." "Where is Tampa exactly?" "Oh it's sort of near the ocean. It's this city in the States where its always warm."
"Maybe one day we could visit your home town together," Iwaizumi suggested before realizing he said it aloud. "I'd like that." Iwaizumi checked his watch. "Oh shit I'm so sorry." "What'd you do?" "We're already late for class. Mrs. Aveline is probably right outside the campus ready to punish us." Y/n grinned. "She won't catch us if we take the back way."

a/n: pretend like they start school in october :) (srry i wrote the plans for this a whiiile ago so thats why the timeline is iffy) previous parts in masterlist.
Once again Y/n and Iwaizumi were in the studio together. Having nearly escaped Mrs. Aveline and continuing their afternoon classes, the day was going as planned. Iwaizumi watched Y/n finish her solo with a look of dread just as the routine suggested. Iwaizumi clapped and handed her her water bottle. "You did great Y/n. Wanna practice the duet next?" Y/n nodded and took the water bottle.
Iwaizumi was glad Mrs. Aveline paid no attention to the two as she was too busy with Lia. "I really had fun with you today Iwaizumi." "You can call me Hajime." "I thought your name was Iwaizumi?" "In Japan we call everyone by their last name unless it's someone close like a sister but usually we would call our sisters something else. That's besides the point though. My first name is Hajime."
"Alright Hajime. Is Oikawa his last name too?" Iwaizumi nodded and began to start the music. "So how come you don't call him by his first name?" Iwaizumi didn't answer because he was too focused on dancing. Or was it because he didn't have an answer? They never really discussed calling each other by their first names. Once the dance ended Iwaizumi responded. "Guess we never thought about it before."
Y/n took another sip of water before grabbing her bag. "Well I'm off. I'll probably be down after hours to work on my solo." "Where're you headed?" "To meet with Serenity and Elissa. Apparently they have an idea to "spice up" Halloween," and with that Y/n left the studio. Iwaizumi had completely forgotten Halloween existed. He was busy with the competition and the picnic. Maybe he could find some haunted house to take her to.
He began to head back and was surprised to find Lia in the studio with Oikawa helping her. Iwaizumi found it strange because there was always a new addition to the team but this was the first one Oikawa seemed to like. Iwaizumi had dinner on his own which consisted of leftovers from the picnic. Oikawa arrived much later and didn't bother with an explanation. "You still wanna do homework together?" Iwaizumi looked up from his notes. "Sure. How's Lia's solo?" "I don't know. It doesn't really concern me." "Mhm."
Iwaizumi didn't like being lied to, but he didn't want to pester his friend too much. They completed their homework and went to bed immediately after. Iwaizumi was nothing short of eager to ask Y/n about the haunted house tomorrow.
His plans were instantly shot down as Serenity and Elissa got the chance to talk before him. "So we were thinking of doing a Halloween party," Elissa excitedly announced. Serenity nodded in agreement, "It's gonna be with no adult supervision and off campus. Teachers can't find out. Especially Mrs. Aveline." "So we've made a party committee that will get the funds for it," Elissa added. The committee consisted of Oikawa, Serenity, Elissa, Carter, and Y/n.
Iwaizumi found it a bit unfair how Oikawa and Y/n were chosen before him. Serenity continued going about the planning schedule while Iwaizumi tuned her out. Once the bell rang Iwaizumi quickly got up and walked to class with Y/n. "Can I ask you something?" She nodded. "Wanna go to a haunted house with me after school?" "Yeah that seems fun." They agreed on a time and went their separate ways.
As soon as Mrs. Aveline released them from practice, Iwaizumi and Y/n were on the next train to the street closest to the haunted house. The one he chose was popular as the line spread outside the door. It was moving quickly however and they were able to purchase tickets and go right in. An employee escorted them to one of the seven doors in the hallway behind the desk and closed the door. A single light was in the middle of the hallway. It kept flickering in and out.
It seemed to be a hospital as random medical equipment and beds were strewn about. They walked to the end of the hallway to find a wall. "Guess it has to be one of the patient rooms we passed," Y/n suggested. They went in each of the rooms which each had a specific clue like a number or shape. Eventually they got back to the door in the beginning of the hallway labeled 1. Outside was a security pad. She quickly put in a code and it dinged green. Iwaizumi walked in first and fell.
"I'm fine," he reassured her. She stepped down too and slid down into a ball pit. She saw Iwaizumi standing next to the pit looking around for an exit. "This seems more like an escape room," he muttered. The room featured 8 coffins, four on each side, with a pattern on each. As they walked past the coffins, one shuttered. Y/n attempted to walk faster, but the actor inside the coffin got out and scared her. Iwaizumi looked back and without thinking slapped the actor.
Y/n was laughing until the other coffins began to open. "Hajime I think we should like seriously run." "Way ahead of you." He began fiddling with the lock on the door. The actors were coming closer while he finally got it open. They quickly ran inside and shut the door behind them. Another dark room. When they got halfway through, the walls started to close forcing them back to back. "Owner must be laughing his ass off right now," Y/n said. Iwaizumi began pressing all the walls looking for an exit.
One of the taps triggered a button that caused the walls to stop. A door on the wall opened to what seemed like a meat locker. The only light was from a small room in the back. Y/n peered around the corner and found a man sawing off a head. He glanced at her and suddenly lunged at her with the saw. She screamed and ran back to Iwaizumi with the actor on her heels. He chased the two to the exit and as if there was an invisible wall, he stopped abruptly and went back to his locker.
Y/n was doubling over with laughter. "He was soooo mad. Man that's the most fun I've had in a while." Iwaizumi was afraid to admit he had actually been scared. The two walked back to the train station, but not before getting spring rolls from a nearby shop. They snacked and walked which was something new for Iwaizumi. "Have you ever had a girlfriend before?" she asked him. "No, but I've kissed girls before." "So your never serious about it?" "The girls weren't serious about it actually." "Seems like you suck with picking girls," she smirked.
Hopefully not with you, he thought. They got on the train and rode it back to their school. This time they got back before curfew so Mrs. Aveline couldn't get upset. They joined their friends at the food court outdoors. "Where were you two?" Oikawa teased. "Doesn't matter I had lots of fun," Y/n responded. "What about the party?" Iwaizumi didn't like to speak about romantic encounters in front of everyone. Elissa's eyes lit up, "We decided to have it at Carter's house in the basement. He said he'll provide the drinks and stuff."
"Is it like a costume party?" Lia inquired. Elissa nodded. "What about the competition tomorrow?" Serenity interrupted. "Frankie's a senior so I think he'll win," Oikawa exclaimed. Iwaizumi glanced at Frankie who was sitting with people from his year. He didn't seem worried about tomorrow. Y/n on the other hand was shaking a bit. Her phone buzzed and she left without a goodbye. "Who was that?" Elissa asked. Oikawa shrugged, "Who knows? Let's call it a night." Iwaizumi went with Oikawa to the girl's dorm to drop Lia off before going to his own room.
On the way there Oikawa got a call. "What was that about?" Iwaizumi asked immediately after he hung up. "Oh it was Y/n. She said Carter was asking her for help." Iwaizumi had never even met him before. "Help for what?" "On love of course. She's like the expert." "So she's dated a lot?" "How would I know? We've both known her the same amount of time. Iwa-chan you shouldn't ask such dumb questions."

a/n: previous parts in masterlist as usual. this was originally a fluff but that's too boring so.
Iwaizumi and Oikawa were up before the sun was. They bickered about who got the shower first and who got to brush their teeth first. It was a warm day which Iwaizumi took as good luck. Once Oikawa and him were ready, they set off. Everything on the campus was closed at this hour. The birds weren't even awake to begin their chirping. Oikawa was very hyper for it to be so early. They navigated to the front entrance where the charter bus was waiting. Mrs. Aveline and Lia were already there. Iwaizumi sat on the steps and lingered back as Oikawa and Lia began eagerly talking about the competition.
Frankie arrived next with bagels for everyone. Iwaizumi munched away as Serenity, Elissa, and Y/n arrived. He checked his wristwatch which read 1:02am. "I don't think we'll make it in time for registration," Iwaizumi started to say. Mrs. Aveline quickly shushed him. "Not to worry. I did it all online." He had never heard of such a thing before but his opinion didn't matter. They took a quick photo and boarded the bus.
It was rather spacious considering there were only seven students going. Iwaizumi took the window seat and Oikawa flopped next to him still engrossed in his conversation with Lia. The driver started the engine and off they went. Iwaizumi watched bleary-eyed as they drove away from the school and onto the highway. He soon fell asleep.
He suddenly regained consciousness when Oikawa shook him awake. "We're here." Iwaizumi had been to Gold Coast before but it was still an amazing sight for him. He reluctantly stood up and stretched. He grabbed his backpack from the overhead bin and followed the others outside. The other dance studios seemed to have arrived already as the outside of the building was deserted.
He followed Mrs. Aveline into the building where they got their wristbands. "I think Lia's really nervous," Oikawa whispered. "Isn't she supposedly better than all of us?" Iwaizumi questioned. "It's her first competition," he replied rushing to her side. Iwaizumi thought he was babying the girl. They arrived at their dressing room a little after 8. Oikawa was still right by Lia's side doing her makeup for her.
"Can you help me run through my solo really quickly?" Y/n came up behind Iwaizumi. He nodded and followed her into the hallway. Tons of dancers were practicing there so it would be easy to see your competition. He watched intently as Y/n did her routine. He had to remind her a few times to keep her knees straight or to remember her facial expressions. "I keep forgetting everything you tell me," she complained. "It's probably just your nerves. Your going to do great," he reassured her.
"Thanks for your kind words." She enveloped him into a hug before they began calling for her division. Iwaizumi watched her head off to the stage and joined the team in the audience. The first dancer from their school to perform was Lia. Iwaizumi had to admit she walked in with poise and grace. The music started and Lia's technique was flawless. He noticed her expressions would falter slightly especially when she came out of a turn.
Her routine was soon over and there were a few numbers before Frankie's turn. Frankie being a boy gave him an advantage in a female majority competition. Frankie doing a lyrical piece was almost guaranteed he would win. He told a story when he danced and the judges seemed all in. Even Mrs. Aveline seemed pleased. The number ended and it was Y/n's turn. A tragic look greeted the crowd just as they had practiced.
Iwaizumi was proud at the way she had buried her anxiety. The number ended and the judges seemed to be smiling. The team had little time to focus on the judge's opinion as Iwaizumi and Y/n had to get ready for their duet. "Congrats Y/n. You did amazing," Iwaizumi sat next to her. "Thanks I owe it to you." Iwaizumi and Y/n quickly got changed and went over the dance.
It was hard for him to focus however because she just looked so cute in her costume. Once they went though the dance, Oikawa and Y/n were putting makeup on her face. Iwaizumi was a tad jealous but he knew his friend had no ulterior motives. Once the makeup was finished they rushed off backstage. "I'm glad I get to do a duet with you," Y/n took Iwaizumi's hand in her smaller one. "Glad to dance with you too," he quickly responded before she went to the other side of the stage. The number before theirs ended and they both waltzed out.
Once the announcer was finished, the music started. Iwaizumi felt as if he was on cloud nine. The familiar stage lights and eager crowd reminded him why he chose dance in the first place. He loved it when he twirled Y/n around and picked her up for their stunt. He loved how in sync they were for their pirouettes. He loved the part where they were on different parts of the stage, but still completely in line with one another. He felt once you danced with someone you had a certain type of unbreakable bond.
Once the dance was finished, Iwaizumi and Y/n were panting hard. They sauntered off the stage together and Y/n hugged him as soon as they got off. They returned to their dressing room where their teammates congratulated them. There wasn't enough time for that however and they quickly got dressed for the group number. "Man Iwa why do we have to slick our hair back?" Oikawa grumbled. "I think it looks cute on you," Lia commented.
Iwaizumi slicked his hair back using Oikawa's gel and stood up. He hoped he wouldn't sweat too much in this outfit. He watched Y/n practice her turns in the deep indigo tutu that showed off her legs. "Iwa can you help me?" Oikawa was still grumbling. Iwaizumi complied and applied the hair gel while Oikawa did Lia's makeup. The whole team then searched the hallway for a suitable place to practice. Mrs. Aveline kept getting frustrated with the group when really it was Lia's fault. She couldn't grasp it as quickly as the rest because she wasn't used to learning choreography that fast.
Mrs. Aveline eventually gave up and stomped back to the dressing room. The dancers gave each other uneasy looks as they made their way back stage. Oikawa attempted to calm Lia down while a few others snickered. "You would think Mrs. Aveline would learn by now not to add new students," Serenity muttered. "She's old. She can't remember her mistakes," Elissa added. The music on stage stopped, signaling it was their turn to go. They all got into position and the music started.
Their dance wasn't terrible, but it certainly wasn't the best there. Iwaizumi could just imagine how much Mrs. Aveline would be yelling about it. Lia didn't know where she was supposed to be for the majority of the dance and that threw the others off. Serenity kept snickering and Kourtney joined in. By the time the dance was over they were all a laughing mess. Well everyone except Lia. As soon as they got off stage she ran off crying. Oikawa ran after her. "Of course she's fucking crying. She's the reason we lost," Kourtney could barely stop laughing to finish her sentence.
Iwaizumi felt bad for the girl because of how quickly she was rushed into it all. Y/n and Iwaizumi decided to go downstairs and look at the other dancer's routines to avoid Mrs. Aveline's speech. He hated to admit it but the other teams were good. Like really good. He didn't think the group stood a chance at placing at all. The two didn't return until the soloists for their division were called onto the stage. Iwaizumi wished her good luck and joined the team in the audience. "Where's Mrs. Aveline and Lia?"
"Oh they're on the bus. Lia is soooo dead," Elissa commented. Lia and Y/n tied for second, but Lia was nowhere to be found. As expected Frankie got first. He currently held the national title for their division from last year so this made him a prime target. Duos/Trios was next to get awards. Iwaizumi and Y/n got first place and Iwaizumi couldn't stop smiling. The group got ninth place and the whole team was laughing on stage. "We should lie and tell her we didn't even place. Imagine how mad she would get," Serenity suggested.
"Its not like it's our fault. The feature threw all of us off," Y/n mentioned. "It was her first time so go easy on her," Oikawa defended. "Which is why she shouldn't have gotten a lead in the first place," Elissa fired back. "I don't know why your defending her. Usually your on our side," Frankie added. Oikawa said nothing in response and continued packing up his stuff. Iwaizumi couldn't believe he was this hung up over a girl from France. They finished packing up and headed back to the bus. It was already dark out when the competition was finally over. Mrs. Aveline was sternly waiting on the bus and snatched the plaque from Frankie's hand.
Iwaizumi could barely stand and collapsed onto his window seat just as she began to yell. "Ninth place?! Is this what we represent? Frankie you hold a national title for fuck's sake. You all are veterans. You should've placed higher. And don't give me a sorry ass excuse either." Frankie grinned with a twinkle in his eye. "I was just following the lead." This made Mrs. Aveline even madder and Lia burst into tears. "Look at what you did." Frankie shrugged. "I didn't do anything. She's just sensitive."
Lia seemed to nod in agreement in between hiccups. Mrs. Aveline slumped down in her seat. "Let's just go back home." She hadn't acknowledged the duet win or Frankie's win or Lia's win for that matter. Iwaizumi thought she was being unfair, but who was he to judge. He fell asleep on the ride back as well. They arrived back at the school at 7 in the morning and he woke up still tired. He dragged himself to the cafeteria and thanked Y/n for the fruit she got him.
"Mrs. Aveline was totally freaking out." Today it was just Y/n and Iwaizumi at the table. The others were off doing god knows what. "She wants to meet us at nine. I wonder what for," Iwaizumi mentioned. Y/n sighed deeply. "Hasn't she said enough? I'm just glad our duet did so well." "Of course it did because you were in it." She laughed. "You were pretty great too." They finished up their meal and headed to the company studio. The others were already there and Mrs. Aveline didn't look any less pissed off than last night.
"Because of your poor performance, all of you are doing a solo. Whoever places the lowest is on probation." "What if multiple people don't place?" Kourtney asked. "Then I'll ask the judges for individual scores. You all will practice on your own with the teacher of your choice with the style of your choice. That is all."
"This seems more like a reward," Oikawa told Iwaizumi. "I don't see how this solves the problem though," Y/n replied. "Yeah the problem is the group. Getting individually stronger is nice and all but," Iwaizumi trailed off. "Mrs. Aveline isn't the most critical of thinkers, huh?"

a/n: i'm so excited for summer break wowowow
Iwaizumi woke up in the middle of the night to Oikawa leaving their room. This wasn't an unusual thing as he usually left to hook up with some random girl. What was different was Iwaizumi noticed his dance bag was gone. He quickly grabbed his own and was out the door. There were a few students out at this time. Some coming out for a midnight smoke, some coming out for what Oikawa usually came out for, and some practicing a dance routine out on the open sidewalk.
He half expected the school building to be closed but it was unlocked. He followed his friend downstairs to the dance studios. The lights were all turned off which gave the basement an eery feel. He followed him to the last studio where he switched on the lights and began warming up. "Jeez Iwa you have to be sneakier then that," he stretched in front of the mirror. "Why are you here so late?" He dropped his bag besides Oikawa's.
"Just trying to get my choreography done," he said it as if it was normal to do these sorts of things this late. "We have school tomorrow," Iwaizumi reasoned. "I have to perfect my solo. What kind are you doing?" Iwaizumi shrugged. "I guess a hip-hop solo. It's the easiest thing." Oikawa chuckled a bit. "Yeah I guess that's like you. I'm doing a more contemporary thing." "You shouldn't stress it too much. Your like the best dancer here," Iwaizumi assured him.
"You know we're competition this week right?" Oikawa started his music. "Right right. I'll see you tomorrow then. Good night Shitty-kawa." "Hey that's not very nice Iwa-chan," Oikawa pouted. Iwaizumi ignored him and grabbed his bag. He took the long way back to his room using the extra time to plan out his routine. Was everyone as stressed as Oikawa was about their solos? Guess he would find out tomorrow.
The next morning at breakfast Y/n convinced Iwaizumi to try the parfait she was having. He was surprised he liked it and wondered why no one had ever introduced him to the dish. "How's everyone's solo?" Elissa asked. "I'm doing a ballet one. It's the only thing I'm good at," Lia fell silent. "I'm doing an acro routine. Seems easy enough to please the queen," Serenity smirked. It was common for students to call Mrs. Aveline "the queen". "I'm doing lyrical," Kourtney murmured. Iwaizumi was glad everyone was doing different styles so it might be easier on the judges.
"Are we doing costumes all by ourselves?" Y/n queried. Oikawa announced, "Guess we have to wait for our queen to speak." The bell rang and the group dispersed. Iwaizumi didn't see any of them until lunch when Mrs. Aveline called all of them to the company studio. "I've decided to interrupt your lunch for costume fitting," she remarked.
"Are we going to get extra time to eat?" Frankie raised his hand jokingly. "No," she deadpanned and began walking towards the seamstress. Iwaizumi didn't care much about his costume, but he enjoyed watching the others get all dressed up. Y/n emerged from behind the curtain and asked Iwaizumi for his opinion. She wore a leotard with cream being the color of choice and a plum color for below the waist. It featured what Iwaizumi liked to call "pirate sleeves", a cream colored bow at the neckline on the back, and was backless. "It looks great on you," he responded without a second thought. She smiled, satisfied, and returned behind the curtain to slip back into her school uniform.
Lia was next to receive her garments. Hers was a black velvet leotard with floral mesh sleeves. The platter tutu had a layer of red jewels on top of the black mesh. A fancy lace fan and choker completed the look. She walked in a circle on pointe to test it out before returning the garments. Next was Kourtney. For her lyrical routine, she chose a blue sage velvet leotard complete with a halter neckline, chiffon off-the-shoulder sleeves, and a chiffon skirt. Serenity opted for a simple black spandex with embroidered mesh cutouts on the leg and a wrap around side cut out.
They returned when there was only about five minutes left for lunch. Y/n and Iwaizumi split a salad bowl and Oikawa kept making kissy noises while Lia tried to get him to taste her kale smoothie. The rest of the day was pretty uneventful and everyone was too busy working on their solos to make plans. Once the final bell rang, Iwaizumi recievd a tap on the shoulder.
"Wanna practice together? We can use the dance building." The dance building, as the students called it, was never used. Mainly because everyone had dance classes in the school's basement. It was only crowded when there was going to be a show and everyone needed extensive practice. It was the perfect place for the two. Iwaizumi followed Y/n. She swiped her student id and was surprised to find a few seniors there including Frankie.
He paid them no attention and the two used a studio down the hall. Y/n left to get changed leaving Iwaizumi to work on his solo. He took off his jacket and set it on one of the bars. He scrolled through his list of non copy right music looking for a hip hop song. Y/n returned in a simple black leotard and jazz shoes while he was still choosing. "How about we both do some improve and work on the kinks later?" she suggested.
He nodded in agreement and she sat at the mirror. He selected a song and began. Dancing was as natural to Iwaizumi as breathing. Especially hip hop. Oikawa usually joked that he should be in one of the popular street dancing groups in Japan rather than studying at a ballet school. The music ended and Y/n clapped. "I didn't know you did hip hop." He was in disbelief. Hip-hop was his main thing.
He sat at the mirror and gulped down his water bottle as Y/n picked a song. The song she chose was upbeat and fun and matched her personality. Mrs. Aveline always stressed that they had to "tell a story" with their movement. Iwaizumi thought dances looked better when the dancer was just having fun. She finished and plopped next to him, gulping her water in a similar fashion. "Still need to tweak a few things," she said after a long silence. He simply nodded.
The studio door swung open and to no surprise it was Oikawa with Lia shuffling behind him. "Lia's mom is performing tonight and she invited us. Can you believe it?" Oikawa flaunted his phone in Iwaizumi's face. "Yeah yeah." "And we get to perform," Lia added. "Perform what?" Y/n was suspicious of the legitimacy of this performance. "Our dance from Saturday what else?" Oikawa said as if it was obvious.
"Do you even have the dance memorized?" Y/n looked Lia up and down. "Of course. Oikawa and I have been practicing all afternoon. Now get your costumes and we'll meet you out front in fifteen minutes," Lia didn't give them a choice to object. "What about curfew?" Iwaizumi asked but they were already out the door. "That was weird," Y/n started to stand up. "Wanna do it?" "I don't like the girl, but I do love to perform."
Iwaizumi and Y/n parted ways, each heading for their own dorms. Iwaizumi found the costume in one of his various costume drawers and stuffed it in his dance bag along with a few snacks. He was the last to arrive and the group headed for the train station. "So where is your mom performing?" Y/n was sure Lia was bringing them to their deaths. "The Sydney Opera House of course! She's coming all the way from France to perform with her company," Lia's face lit up. At least loving ballet was one thing she hadn't lied about.
The majority of riders got off at the opera house station and the group went with the crowd. Iwaizumi had been only once before and that was to watch Oikawa on stage. The theater was just as huge and beautiful as it had been last year. Iwaizumi couldn't help but stare at the ceiling as the design was magnificent. However Lia was in a hurry and rushed to the back hallways. Almost immediately they were stopped by a guard. It was a short, pudgy man that had a bead of sweat running down his forehead that he kept wiping with a handkerchief. His jet black hair was slicked back with so much gel his head shined.
"What're you kids doing? Go on and enjoy the show." Lia began throwing a fit. "Mister you don't know what your talking about. We're supposed to be performing." He yawned. "Mhm. Go back to your seats kid." "My mother is Celine Lafitte." Her French accent was starting to worsen. "Funny story. I have no idea who that is." "How can you not know who's performing in your own show?" she whined. "I'm going to have to use force if you kids don't move." "Force on minors? I'll sue." He snorted. "Can't you see we're supposed to be here? I'm Celia Lafitte damn it." Iwaizumi noticed a woman coming up behind the security guard.
She had thick dark brown curls just like Celia except hers were in two low pigtails. She wore a white leotard with a romance tutu and a blue gingham apron over it. Rosy red slippers completed the look. She was paler than Celia however and their noses were completely different. "Sorry that my daughter and her friends bothered you. They'll be no more trouble yes?" "Mama he didn't even know who you are," Lia whined. Her mother didn't respond and motioned for us to follow her. "You guys will be the opening act. Tonight we're performing the Wizard of Oz." "My mama's got the lead role," Lia grinned.
Her mom let them change in her private dressing room while she went to warm up for the show. "Can you believe we're about to perform at The Sydney Opera House?" Oikawa beamed. "You've done it before," Iwaizumi mentioned. "I totally forgot about that. We stood outside in the freezing cold waiting for the doors to open," Y/n laughed at the memory. The four quickly got changed and stretched and did a few run throughs of the dance. Celine peeked her head through the door, "It's showtime." They followed her where they passed many other dancers who were stretching or talking amongst themselves. Iwaizumi was jittery with nerves. His first performance in the opera house and it wasn't even a dance he'd perfected. Y/n smiled at him. "Your gonna do great Hajime," she comforted him.
He smiled back and gave her hand a quick squeeze. "You are too." The stagehand signaled them and they waltzed out on stage. Because there were only four performers they changed the chorography so that both Lia and Y/n were spotlighted. Iwaizumi had always struggled with pirouettes on pointe, but he pushed himself. His toes were going to be so sore after this. A few times during the performance his eyes darted towards Lia. Everything about her performance was amazing from the technique to the way she carried herself to her focus. If she performed like this at nationals surely she would hold the national title. The piece ended and they waltzed off stage.
Celine pulled her daughter into a hug. "I'm so proud of you. Your making such great friends too." "Yeah friends," Y/n snorted under her breath. Lia's mother disappeared to prepare for going on stage. The four found their way back to the dressing room and got changed. "My mom thinks I have lots of friends. It'll suck when she finds out the truth," Lia broke the silence. "It's not your fault. Mrs. Aveline brings in a new boy or girl yearly and just slaps them on the team. They never last and they never have to try out like we do. Once she even brought two and we were all competing to not get replaced by one of them," Oikawa attempted to shift the blame.
The four munched on some of the snacks in Iwaizumi's bag on the way to the train station. "Well I had fun at least. The bright stage lights and all the people loved seeing us dance," Y/n attempted to lift the gloomy mood. She twirled as they crossed a street. "Maybe one day we'll all be up on that stage. Dancing for the same company," Iwaizumi hoped. "Definitely not dancing for Mrs. Aveline's company," Lia joked. Maybe Lia wasn't so bad after all, Iwaizumi wondered. They rode the train back and there was no sight of Mrs. Aveline. "Woohoo! Another day of sneaking out without getting caught," Lia cheered. Oikawa smiled and the four parted ways.
Iwaizumi and Oikawa walked back together. "Maybe you were right about Lia," Iwaizumi spoke. "Oh yeah? You should trust me more Iwa-chan. What about you and Y/n?" He shrugged. Things were the same as last year. They hung out together and did normal teenage things. "Iwa can we all go as aliens to the Halloween party?" He had completely forgotten about that. "Sure whatever. I'm so tired and my toes are so sore," he complained. "I can carry you," Oikawa offered. "Never in a million years Loserkawa." "That's so mean," Oikawa whined. "Dumbass." They continued bickering until they reached their dorm.
Iwaizumi fell asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow. A part of him was looking forward to the party and the other half was terrified. But he had to confess at some point, right?
