OikawađŸ©”

We all know he wears glasses too so he'll find it cute and he'll think it counts as you two matching.

Speaking of matching he WILL get you two matching glasses frames. Probably his school colours.

Oikawa will sometimes steal your glasses and hold them above his hamd to watch you struggle to get them. THAT untill Iwaizumi slaps him behind his neck and he gives you your glasses back.

He loves when you take his glasses while he is wearing them and clean them up for him amd put them back on him.

Kageyama💙

Kageyama wouldn't really mind the fact that you wear glasses, it won't bother him either.

He wouldn't tease you about the fact that you wear them like Oikawa and he'll actually think it's cute that you wear them.

If you wear glasses with his school colours the man will get frustrated. Don't blame him though.

AkaashiđŸ–€

Can i just start by saying how much i love Akaashi? Like he is perfect â˜ș

Okay now let's start with this

I am not really sure if Akaashi wears glasses while he is a second year or just in the time skip, but either way he wouldn't really mind the fact that you have glasses. Actually he'll think it's adorable

He won't make fun of you like Oikawa đŸ–đŸ» he is just not the typa guy to do that

He'll always go to your appointments with you if you are nervous or if you aren't just to keep your company

I need Akaashi in my life

Secret Garden - Oikawa Tooru

Secret Garden - Oikawa Tooru

Now, Oikawa wasn’t the worst of the boys you could find. Sure, he had a reputation that he would ever so carefully hold up, the flirty pretty boy who also was the captain of his school’s volleyball club. He himself took a lot of pride in being the unbothered flirt that he was. He didn’t mean to lead people on by flirting, and everybody around him realized that. Going back to the part where he was unbothered, yeah, that part stood true for the most of it, but he too had his moments of weakness, like now.

The day was as normal as it could be, him in his seat beside his seatmate who never seemed to care enough about him to ever try to converse to him outside the introductions and occasional polite smiles for a greeting. He understood you weren’t the big on talking, but he wouldn’t mind having someone to joke around with during a boring class. Not that he hadn’t tested out his charms on you, but you were a part of the lesser population who were immune to his flirting. Or so he thought. Of course, he missed that slight twitch of the corner of your mouth fighting to form a smile, or the embarrassing heat that creeped up the side of your neck which threatened to grow red. Of course, you didn’t have to hide your very obvious flustered state, knowing better that he was used to all the flustered girls around him and where was the fun in that? Why would you, when he gave the most animatedly wide eyes on having “failed” to fluster you as he thought he would?

And that day was the same, a polite smile and then the same boring lectures as the teacher went on teaching something that couldn’t be anymore boring for you. While Oikawa was the volleyball jock in all its truest sense, he also was a nerd who actually paid attention in class and took notes. Having been bored out of your mind, your usual aloof self slipped up. It wasn’t the worst,you just drew a big stupidly ugly flower on the margin of the book that laid open on your desk and it just had to belong to the person sitting beside you. To remind you, it wasn’t the worst situation, it could have been worse had you drawn it with something more permanent like a pen, it was just a pencil. You could erase it before the owner of the book noticed, right? Wrong. While you turned your side, scrambling to search for an eraser which, who knows you even had, Oikawa looked up to his book to refer to it and was greeted by the flower staring right back at him.

Oikawa was a nerd. He owns the cleanest books, in the best condition he could have. He made sure his books were free from any kind of pencil scratches or ink smudges. Pulling his book closer to have a look at the drawing that sat on his book, he could be sworn the face drawn on the flower seemed to mock him. The flower was HUGE and smug?? Oikawa Tooru wasn’t an angry person by any sense, but he always thought something like this would be the reason he loses his cool. Having surprised himself by the equally huge blush on his face, he couldn’t seem to gather any words as he shyly glanced towards his seatmate who hadn’t noticed him as he hid his growing smile. Once again, surprising himself, he grabbed a pencil of his own. Taking one last glance at his busy seatmate, who still continued to rummage through her bag, he started drawing flowers of his own around the obnoxiously huge flower.

“Finally”, you thought, as you accepted the eraser from your friend’s hand as you turned towards where you last left the book, already noticed the boy grabbing his book. You prayed internally for him to not notice the little souvenir you had left with your pencil.You continued to steal glances of your seatmate while holding onto the eraser in your hand, waiting impatiently for the book to be placed away for you to erase the drawing. And to your relief, he did so. Judging by his calm demeanor, you sighed, convinced that the boy hadn’t noticed your mistake. Subtly shifting closer to the book, you noticed the little garden drawn around your flower, eyes growing wide. You glanced at the boy who sat beside you, ducking into the notebook he had been writing in. Choosing not to erase the little artwork. You continued to act oblivious about the whole situation you had found yourself in. The volleyball captain who was flocked by girls gifting him daily was blushing beside you because of a drawing?

You knew a secret about the notoriously famous volleyball captain, the shy dorky side of him he was unable to hold back at the drawing of a smug little (huge) flower. That same day when you had left him in the class to sit back and stare at the flower you had drawn labeled - Oikawa Tooru, for him to find. That same day, he looked up how to draw flowers. He wanted to draw them for you, in your book by the margin and of course he too would draw an arrow and write your name beside it. If anyone was to ask him how many he had practiced making the same flower, he would be quick to deny even looking it up on the internet. If he had to make a flower to write your name with, it had to be a pretty one, so of course it would be a few days until he finally gathers the confidence to even draw in your book.

Even though it wasn’t as good as he thought it would be, he was content with the blush that rested comfortably on your cheeks as you looked away from your book at the sight of the flower drawn in pink ink, with a blushing face drawn on the flower, mindful to not draw over the text while your name was written in delicate cursive.

Oikawa didn’t know what to expect after that, he drew for you back that day, but he didn’t expect it to become an ongoing thing where he would return home and find a neatly folded paper, torn from the book you carried everywhere with you. A new flower doodle every day, while he did the same, although he did always research a little more each time to impress you.

Sitting in his seat, he was waiting for you to come sit yourself beside him and allow him to ramble how ‘Iwa-chan is always so mean to him” and how many times he got smacked in the head by him in the last practice session. You were still rather quiet and preferred to listen than talk, but Oikawa always got you to whine about how much you hated studying and how unfair it was that your dog preferred your parents over you.

Sitting yourself, you immediately turned towards the eager boy, turned towards you to greet you loudly while throwing his arms around “his favorite seatmate’. Again bored, you turned towards the boy you had grown to like over the months of talking. It wasn’t hard to take a liking to the boy you already had a crush on even before becoming friends.You gently pressed onto the pink, palm-sized envelope sealed carefully with a wax seal. Passing it to the boy it was meant for, you were greeted with the same blush from the first drawing, brows raised up into a question asking what was this supposed to be. Poking out your chin, you signaled the boy to open it. On opening the envelope Oikawa was greeted with a bunch of pressed flowers held between a folded paper, taking out the paper he was met with the same smug flower from the first time but this time followed with a “i like you, stupid flower boy”.

Oikawa had a secret, he liked his seatmate who first refused to give him any more attention than a polite greeting, the seatmate who drew him a pretty flower, the seatmate who he would whine to while clinging close to the quiet girl who made him blush on the slightest smile.

Picking up the same pink pen he had used to draw you the flower along with your name, he gripped the hand laid on the desk, drawing the best he could, he drew you a big pink heart on the back of your hand then turning your hand to face the palm of your hand, he wrote - “you are the stupid one between us, but i like you too”. Pressing a kiss to the heart he drew, he shyly turned back to his books, smile never leaving his face as he continued to steal glances at throughout the class, unable to focus on anything but the thought of now being able to drag all his games and greeting his seatmate with kisses in the morning.

Keep the enemy closer

Keep The Enemy Closer

Pairing: Oikawa Tooru x Karasuno's Manager!Reader

Warnings: Spoilers of the ends of the first season, one or two cursing, Sugawara 😈, Kageyama as your best friend, there's this one part where Oikawa's head is on your shoulder and you're like combing your hand through his hair and I'm-

Genre: Fluff, enemies to lovers au, surprisingly, no angst

Synopsis: You're the manager of Karasuno, the little sister of the team. A game between you and Aoba Jousai has changed more than you thought it would, and you certainly didn't expect to catch the eye of the captain of the enemy team.

Keep The Enemy Closer

Oikawa Tooru was an impressive man. You had noticed that the second you saw him.

It wasn't only his looks -but everyone who had seen him had to admit, his looks were a big part of his charm-, or how amazing of a player he was, how he could read people and situations and instantly think of a solution, his wit, even more than that.

The first time you saw him was at the nationals, right when he was up in the air, his hand touching the ball. It was like everything was in slow motion. You could see how calm his face was, but also how his brown eyes burned with the hunger of victory.

Only when his hand slapped the ball did the slow-motion end, the ball flying over the net, a loud slapping sound thundering in the room. As the ball had touched the floor, you knew no one would have been able to receive that service. Everyone else seemed to think so, the room speechless and silent for the first time since the game had started, all eyes on the handsome boy, and rightfully so.

It took the audience a few seconds to manage and process the service, ear-splitting cheering and clapping sound filling the room, making everyone wince, but him. Oikawa received the claps like he was born to be on stage, to stand there and accept the bewildered gazes.

You found yourself wanting to clap too. Your hands stood in front of you, waiting for the command to come, but before you let yourself cheer to him, you quickly put your hands down, sticking them to your sides.

A moment of weakness, you concluded. Nothing more, just appreciating a good game.

You gulped, unable to tear your eyes from the brunette. Oikawa had that confident, so laid back smile that screamed to the world that he knew he would win, but you knew if you looked closely, you could see in his eyes how on edge he was, observing every little thing that was in the game, not even want but a need to win burning him from inside out. That was the Oikawa charm, you concluded.

It was such an exciting feeling to witness emotions this extra, and it made you want to be a part of it.

"You look like somethings stirring in your mind." Sugawara came a bit close to you, making you jump out of your thoughts as you could feel his soft gaze observing you. You glanced just one last time to the boy on the court, and you could swear your eyes found his for a second.

"Oh," you muttered, now looking at Sugawara's eyes, even though they looked soft and naive, Sugawara was anything but that. "It's nothing." You smiled. "I guess you could say I'm a bit stressed."

***

And then, the ball touched the floor.

Sitting on the edge of your seat, you felt like you couldn't even breathe. The ball going back and forth, not touching the floor, you were grabbing the bench do hard, your knuckles had turned white. Though you weren't the only one, even coach Ukai had lost his calm.

It was only until Aoba Jousai started to cheer, hug each other, did you actually comprehend that you had- lost. Hinata was still on the floor, and you could see the tears dwelling in the corner of his eyes. Kageyama wasn't better than him either, hands shaking, not wanting to accept it.

Daichi was the first to pull himself out of the daze surrounding his teammates, the audience, you. Extending his hand to Asahi, he pulled his friend on his feet, giving him a confident smile. The boys on the other side of the net were cheering, jumping like they weren't the ones that had one of the longest games of their lives. They were exhausted, even you were tired just watching the game, but they weren't probably even aware of their body's situation.

Your eyes found the boy who stood in the middle of the court, so proudly, he almost looked perfect. Born for this moment, you thought once again.

You gulped, looking away from him, feeling uneasy just by looking at him. You walked to your side of the court to your friends who were still on the floor. "Hey guys," you tried to stop your voice from trembling. "That game was amazing. You really pushed yourselves out there."

"But it wasn't enough," Kageyama growled, sending goosebumps down your body. He looked so focused on the fact that he had, in fact, lost, like he wasn't himself. You had no answer to that, so you stuck your hand to him instead. "Let's make it enough." You told him as he held your hand and stood on his legs. "Together."

You weren't aware of Oikawa on the other half of the court, who had heard your words, and he could feel the anger boiling inside of him. He had won, Oikawa had beaten the 'genius' Kouhei of his, so why were you standing proud next to the boy, telling him he could win next time? That it was enough, that it was okay to lose?

He huffed, turning his back to you both and enjoying his victory with his team. It was like a burden lifted from his shoulders, now that he had beaten Kageyama, he had seen him on the floor of the court, trying to pull himself back together. Then, why did you reaching a hand out to him came to his mind each time Oikawa tried to feel good about finally winning?

***

"What's going on?" You asked Sugawara, looking at the big crowd outside the building as you exited the sports arena. You noticed it was all girls, giggles, and an occasional scream echoed, too.

"Oh that's," he said matter-of-factly, "Oikawa and his fans."

"His fans?" You repeated, brows shooting upwards in disbelief.

"His fans." Sugawara grinned. "You were amazing, Oikawa-senpai!" A girl fawned over him, and another had a box in her hands, decorated with cute little stickers. "I- I made cookies, Oikawa-senpai." She stuttered, her face red.

"Aw, are those for me?" You saw Oikawa quirk a brow up in a prideful manner, thanking the girl as he took a bite out of the cookie. "These are amazing, Sakura-chan!" He told her with a charming smile, leaving the girl a stuttering mess. Now, every girl that had brought him something went feral, trying to get him to eat what they had made him, too.

Even though you thought it was a bit excessive, you shrugged and went your way since it didn't concern you, but you had to turn back when you heard a familiar voice shouting instead of the girls'.

"Oh, shit," Sugawara muttered, running towards Oikawa, and what seemed to be Kageyama. Kageyama looked furious, in contrast to Oikawa's calm face decorated with a scorning smile.

"You son of a-" Kageyama held Oikawa by his collar. "That's an interesting way of showing respect to your senpai." Oikawa giggled. "Now, now." Sugawara got in between them just in time. "Let's not fight, it was a fair game, and we don't want to cause a scene." Despite the soft tone of his voice, he looked at Kageyama's blue eyes like he was trying to tell him to calm the fuck down. "I don't care about making a scene," Kageyama growled, his eyes never leaving Oikawa's.

"Oh, I always knew you were a cruel, stupid king." Oikawa grinned. "Though, I never thought you were an ignorant one, too."

Oikawa's observing abilities were deemed helpful in this situation too, he looked and found what could hurt his opponent the most. And he did. Kageyama was left speechless, though it didn't last long. He was about to act on it, and you were sure what was on the tip of his tongue wasn't very polite until you joined the fight.

"Hey, Kageyama, calm down." You put your hand on his chest and pushed him back a little until he let go of Oikawa's collar. "Yeah, Kageyama, you shouldn't be hurting my pretty face-"

"And you," you turned to him with threatening eyes, face cold, and you could see the surprise on your face. "I thought you were older than us, but as I see it, you're the most childish one around here. You're right, you won, and congrats. But rubbing that in the face of your opponent makes you the cruel one around here."

Oikawa's warm brown eyes were now a cold, muddy color, narrowed as they wandered over your face. Though it didn't last long until his emotionless face melted into a cynical grin. "Well, if it wasn't for this pretty little manager here, I wouldn't have accepted this behavior at all. But I'm going to be generous and forgive you." His eyes now back on Kageyama, expecting him to blow upon his words, but before he could do so, Sugawara talked again. "Thank you, Oikawa-san. That's very mature of you."

Interesting, Oikawa thought.

But Oikawa didn't care about what Sugawara thought of him, he cared about your thoughts, instead. But instead of fangirling as he thought you would, your cold expression didn't change, causing his brows to furrow in confusion. You huffed and turned your back to him, lulling Kageyama with you without turning back to glance at him one more time.

***

You bit your lip anxiously ass you scrolled through Instagram, feeling like you were doing something unacceptable.

Well, maybe you were doing something unacceptable.

Your eyes wandered over Oikawa's stupidly perfect face, body, and figure. Damn, why did he have to look like the most amazing guy ever -that is, until he opened his mouth- and be photogenic?

Annoyed with your thoughts, you put your phone down, determined to get him out of your mind.

***

"What was that girl's name again?" Oikawa muttered as he closed the door of his cabinet.

"Which girl?" Iwaizumi asked, weirded out by his friend's question. He had never in his life seen Oikawa ask after a girl's name.

"Oh," Oikawa shrugged. "That manager? Karasuno's?"

"Wait," Iwaizumi closed the door of his cabinet too. "You're telling me you have a crush on Karasuno's manager?" That question was so unexpected, Oikawa gaped at his friend. "Crush? I don't have a crush on Karasuno's manager." He told him with a huff.

"Yeah, right." Iwaizumi snickered though he didn't press him about it further.

***

"That was amazing, Kageyama!" You cheered as he sent the ball flying. Although Kageyama didn't answer, you saw the prideful grin on his face.

Everyone was working harder than they ever had, determined to win the match against Aoba Jousai. There was an upcoming training camp with some of the strongest schools, and since and Aoba Jousai was one of them, there was going to be at least a dozen games against them, and Karasuno was determined to show them how stronger they got.

"A five-minute break." Coach Ukai called out, the team sighing in relief, Tanaka letting go and resting on the floor.

"Here ya go, Tsukishima." You told him as you get him his bottle, laughing at how long the distance was between your faces. "Thanks," he answered, nodding to make his gratitude sufficient. "You're working hard as well, I see."

"I can't just sit and watch as the team gets stronger with every hit. I need to work to keep up." He sounded mad, but you knew it was only the bitter truth. "I can only wish for you to smack one of your hardest spikes right next to that Oikawa guy so we can all take a deep breath in."

"My fakes are my secret weapon, you know that, can't really smack him in the face." He answered. "You should be asking Hinata instead."

"Hmm," you muttered thoughtfully, "maybe you're right. But I still want you to do that as well." He smiled, a faint smile that wasn't one of his cynical ones, and you grinned.

"Nishinoya senpai, you didn't drink water!" You called out as you ran towards the libero, his eyes sparkling when he heard the word 'senpai' coming out of your mouth. "You're like our guardian angel, you know that?" He told you, smirking after he took four long gulps of his water that you had brought him.

"And we're your guardians." Tanaka joined from the floor. Ah, right. The guardianship. They were so determined to guard you that all the boys in the school were now afraid to get even remotely close to you, hesitant that these two would intervene.

If anything happened that you needed them, every single person in the team would be more than happy to help you, you knew you could trust them, but these two could sometimes overdo it. "I know Tanaka-san, thank you for that."

"Nobody messes with our manager." He answered, unusually serious.

***

The training camp was here, which meant Karasuno facing Aoba Josai at last.

Which also meant you were going to sleep, eat, and stay under the same roof as Oikawa Tooru.

That thought gave you chills, felt like some forbidden thought that shouldn't even cross your mind, but it did. Frequently, at that. But it wasn't necessarily your fault, was it? He was just too handsome for his good. And so annoying that you just couldn't seem to take him off your mind.

Yes, that had to be the reason why you couldn't stop thinking about him, and your insides turned upside down when you saw him because he was too annoying.

You sighed, feeling pathetic since you were literally lying to yourself, and didn't notice Kageyama walking right next to you. You snapped out of your thoughts when you felt his eyes on you, grinning in response but not getting a smile back.

"Hey, don't look so moody!" You told Kageyama as you poked his cheek, earning a glare from the boy. "Oh, come on, don't look at me like that! Have a little fun." You poked his cheek again, causing him to catch your wrist and pull it upwards, making you lose your balance and stumble towards him. "Yeah," he muttered as his eyes narrowed and his face didn't lose its emotionless state, "this is fun."

You rolled your eyes but laughed, trying to free your wrist from his hold, both not aware of the cynical brown eyes wandering over you. "Oh, if it isn't the little manager and the cruel king." A voice called out, causing you to jump in surprise, though Kageyama didn't even flinch. "Just the people I wanted to see." Oikawa smiled sarcastically as his eyes gazed on you two, on the hand that still stood on Kageyama's chest to gain balance, on your hand that was holding your wrist and pulling you towards him. Eyes narrowing, his lips turned upwards down, though his face didn't lose its cynical expression.

"Oh, I couldn't be happier." You muttered, causing Kageyama to snicker. "Yours is a sharp tongue, isn't it?" He told you, a dry laugh.

You were going to answer, if not for the two boys that employed themselves as your guardians wouldn't have jumped in front of you. "You!" Nishinoya screamed, "get away from our manager."

You saw Oikawa rolling his eyes but couldn't say anything back since Tanaka was asking you if you were okay as they led you to the gym like bodyguards guarding a celebrity against paparazzi.

***

"What the fuck are you doing?" Iwaizumi came after him as Oikawa entered the gym.

"What?!" Oikawa said roughly, though, realizing how out of character he was, he smiled instantly. "Iwa-chan! Didn't know you were here."

Oikawa sighed when Iwaizumi stood quiet, staring at the cocky boy until he dropped the act. "What do you mean?"

"You know what I mean." He answered. "That girl, the manager. I know you're flirting with her."

"I'm not!" Oikawa protested.

"You are. What are you trying to do? Get one more conquest on your list? If you're just trying to get her to fall for you to get revenge from Kageyama or Karasuno, or both, that would be shitty, Oikawa. You're shitty, but even you're not that shitty."

"It's not- it's not trying to get back at them or something." He quietly admitted.

"Then what is it?"

Yeah, what was it? Why did he get angry every time he saw you with that stupid Kageyama? Oikawa was better than Kageyama in every possible way. He was better looking, proved himself to be a better setter in the last game, funnier, confident, good with girls, flirty- he was just much better than that stupid king.

Then why did you stay by his side, and not Oikawa, the better one's side?

Why did you tense up every time you saw him? Felt like you had to attack him? Anytime he said something about your team, why did you defend them? Why didn't you realize he was better than Kageyama?

"I don't know."

"You don't know?" Now, that was new. Iwaizumi didn't think he would live long enough to see Oikawa say those words to him.

"I don't," Oikawa smirked. "And that's what makes it interesting."

***

You were watching the training match between Nekoma and Aoba Jousai, a little sad that your team didn't get the chance to play with them today, too. Still, a spike from Kuroo himself had you cheering at the top of your lungs, gaining a cheeky grin from him.

You saw Oikawa's eyes dart your way as you cheered, a small scowl appearing on his face. You couldn't look away, the golden-brown eyes making it impossible to do so. Only when you heard a whistle coming from the game next to you were you able to shake yourself and stop staring.

"We won, we won Y/N-chan!" Hinata shouted, making his way next to you along with Kageyama on his side. "We were like hiyaa- and Kageyama did gvaa, then I jumped, and it was like kyooo!"

Despite being breathless, Hinata still had the energy to show you every move he did, unlike Kageyama, who looked so tired that you worried he might pass out.

"Hey, you okay?" You asked him as you got under his arm, supporting him as you walked to the bench. "Yeah, just tired." He wiped the sweat with the back of his hand, making you wince. "Ah, you stink." You muttered, turning your face the other way as you shoved the towel you were holding to his face. "And dripping sweat. You're going to get sick."

"I honestly don't have the energy to even dry my face to a towel right now." He told you, though you could already from the way he walked. You giggled, pressing the towel to his face for him. "Okay, big baby, I'll help you- but don't get too comfortable, it's just for today."

He grinned.

***

Oikawa frowned as you giggled at Kageyama. It was Kageyama, for God's sake, how could he say something even remotely funny? He gritted his teeth when you dabbed the towel to his face, wiping his sweat for him.

Before he could even think about it a second, Oikawa found himself making his way to you, trying to look as confident as he could.

You were still giggling at something, though your smile dropped as soon as you saw the cocky captain coming towards you. He was sweaty, fluffy brown hair now sticking to his handsome face, framing it so nicely that you found yourself holding your breath.

"Hey there, little manager." You gritted your teeth when you heard the nickname he had for you. Well, he probably didn't even know your name, so it was normal, but it didn't make it any less annoying.

"Oikawa-senpai." You muttered, pretending not to notice how his eyes glinted when you called him Senpai. "How can I help you?"

Since you got scolded by both Daichi and Sugawara for losing your calm against a boy two years older than you the last time, you knew you had to stay calm this time.

"I was hoping to see you." He told you, ignoring Kageyama that stod right next to you. He hoped to see you? Why?

"Well, I'm here." You answered, not sure what he was trying to do. Oikawa sighed because you looked a little too uninterested for his ego. "Yn-chan," Your eyes slightly widened when you heard your name dropping from his lips, a weird feeling running down your body. "I was hoping to see you, so I could... apologize."

Interesting.

"Apologize?" You repeated, and he nodded with a dramatically regretful expression on his face.

"Yes, you see, we got on the wrong foot, and I thought I could talk to you about what happened." Your eyes narrowed, not sure what's up with the sudden 180° in his attitude.

"I just wanted to tell you that what I did last time was wrong, and I'm sorry about what I did." His voice so soft and soothing, you could feel your heartbeat picking up. Why did he have to look so damn handsome as he apologized? He ran a hand through his dampened hair, your eyes following his hand you gulped.

"Oh, um, that's nice?" You said, causing his brows to furrow. "Although you shouldn't be apologizing to me, but to Kageyama." He saw the small smile forming on your lips, and you grinned internally. "Yeah, you're right."

Now that he had even made his way to apologize to you, it was your turn to make a move, there weren't any obstacles for you to fawn over him now, were there?

You had turned your gaze to your phone from Oikawa when it buzzed with a notification -as Oikawa waited for you to confess your undying love or some shit-, thinking that he'll leave after the whole apologizing thing.

Maybe you were one of those shy ones, he thought. Deciding to be generous, he gave you a little push.

"And?" He told you. "Isn't there anything else you would like to say to me?" You should be grateful I even gave you this much of my time, he thought internally. He didn't do this for everyone.

"What-" your voice trailed off. "What do you even expect me to say?" It wasn't your words that left him speechless, and it was the look of pure confusion on your face. Where was the confession? Why weren't you doing the things he expected you to do?

Oikawa was often right about how things would turn out, both in volleyball or in life, so on these rare occasions, he had no idea what to do.

As you noticed the you're-hurting-my-ego look on his face, you finally understood what was going on. Oh, poor little Oikawa-senpai. He was expecting you to fangirl already, didn't he?

"Oh, come on, Senpai." You told him with a cheeky grin. "You didn't think it was going to be that easy, did you?

***

"You really shouldn't be messing like that with him, you know," Sugawara told you, making you sigh. "I know, I know." You told him. "But he's just so full of himself that I can't hold my tongue back!"

"Don't underestimate him, Y/N. He acts all innocent and stupid, but he's dangerously smart, one of the smartest people I know. Don't fall for it." He warned you but stopped talking when he saw your eyes looking at your phone screen instead of him.

The notification was from Instagram, a friend request. Your brows furrowed, and you unlocked your phone, gasping when you read the name that stood there.

Oikawa Tooru.

The Oikawa Tooru had sent you a friend request. You had to be dreaming, but you accepted it and sent him a request back nevertheless. You thought that would have been the end of it, but it was only seconds after when your phone buzzed, his name on your screen once again.

"Hey, little manager."

Your breath hitched in your chest, and you hesitated as you opened the text. Should you text back? You were debating whether you should text back or not when you heard Sugawara fake a cough.

"I gotta go now, we have some free time, and I think I'm going to use it to practice a little." You nodded with a smile that mimicked his since you were never able not to smile when Sugawara looked at you with his signature grin. "Okay, I'll be cheering for you."

"Yeah, just don't cheer for anyone from Aoba Jousai, right?" He winked, walking away before you even got the chance to wash the shock off.

Your eyes instinctively wandered around the court before you even knew who you were looking for, and you found yourself feeling giddy inside when you found Oikawa right across the court, sitting on the bench and looking at you with a cocky smile.

***

"Slow down a little, guys, you'll choke if you eat like that." You told Hinata and Kageyama, though they seemed too focused on their food to hear you. You rolled your eyes, placing your now-empty bowl in the sink, not noticing someone coming right after you.

"Ah, it's the little manager." You heard him, his voice a little too close to your ear. He bent over a little to place his bowl in the sink, his face getting dangerously close to you. "The food was amazing, is it because you helped them cook it, too?"

"No." You answered gingerly, eager to leave this conversation before you- found more details about him that amazed you. "Ah, then it should be because of your pretty face I was looking that made it taste better."

You grimaced at his answer. "You're getting cheesier with every second, Oikawa-san." He pouted. "What happened to Oikawa-senpai? It was real cute, you know."

This man was just too-

"Oikawa senpai," you gritted your teeth, and he grinned. "Why are you talking to me?"

He shrugged. "I think I enjoy talking to you. And I was wondering if my apology went through." A step your way, and you could swear you sensed his minty perfume. "It did." You answered as you took a step away from him since his presence alone was fuzzying your thoughts. "Doesn't mean that I'll be instantly head over heels for you, though."

You thought that would've made him angry, irritated, at least, but instead, he grinned as if he was playing a game.

Then, all of a sudden Oikawa's smile dropped, and he sighed. "I wish you could just see I'm not as bad as you think."

"Oh, right. Cause you're just amazing, right?" You mocked him, expecting him to smile and give a cocky answer, but he didn't. He stayed silent, his dark brown eyes boring into yours so sincere, it sent shivers down your spine. "I mean it, I'm not the big bad wolf you think I am. I know I was mean to you and... Kageyama before, but weren't you also? Why am I the bad guy when I even went ahead and apologized, but you are still mocking me?"

You had no answer to that. Because- he was right. Oikawa did apologize to you, but you were still trying to make him angry, and you were the one who said he was too full of himself.

"You're right," you finally admitted after a long pause. "I know." He answered with a grin, and you rolled your eyes, though it wasn't as annoying as it was the past few days.

"Okay, then. Let's make a deal." You told him. "I'm listening." He quirked a brow up, a look of genuine interest on his handsome face. "Let's start over."

"Start over?" He repeated, and you nodded. A few seconds of silence that felt like an eternity passed as you waited for his answer. Maybe this was dumb, and you were just humiliating yourself-

"Okay." He answered, your eyes snapping up to his with the sudden answer. Even though you tried to conceal it, he saw the glint of hope in your eyes.

"Okay." You said back, trying to hold back your smile and failing.

***

You have never in your wildest dreams have thought Oikawa could be so nice.

Nice to hang around with, talk, and joke with... And that was just straight-up terrifying because that led your heart to have its own consciousness apart from the logical part of your body, a part that hushed your thoughts whenever Oikawagot a little too close to you, a part that scolded you when your eyes searched his figure a little too often, a part that didn't know how to stop you from feeling giddy and smile when he looked back at you, too.

"You're acting weird lately." Sugawara came closer to you in the water break.

"How so?" You asked with a smile. He shrugged. "I'm not sure, but I'll just tell this to you as a senpai," he wasn't smiling as he talked. "Don't go catching feelings to someone you shouldn't."

"Sugawara-senpai," you laughed, shaking your head side to side. "What are you talking about? I'm not catching feelings for anyone!"

"You know, I hate it when you lie. You're really bad at it too." He sighed when he saw how afraid you looked. "Look, it's not my place to tell you what to and not to do, and I have no say in your relationships whatsoever. But he isn't someone you should trust, I told you this before." He smiled, that cute signature smile of his. "Just be careful, all right?"

You nodded, and you knew there was no reason in denying. "Good." His hand ruffled your hair, making you groan in frustration, but before you could go back at him, he turned his back to you, walking to the court.

You looked at Oikawa as he smacked the ball. Combing his dampened hair out of his face by running a finger through them, and wiping his face with the back of his hand.

His eyes found yours as they always did, and you couldn't hold yourself back from smiling as he sent a cocky smile your way. Though, his smile dropped when Iwaizumi smacked his head harshly, probably scolding him about not listening, which made you giggle.

You felt your heartbeat picking up, a little too much that it was getting out of hand. So you decided it was best to leave and take some fresh air to just stop yourself from thinking about him.

You don't like Oikawa Tooru, you tell yourself. He's the captain of your enemy team. The rival of your best friend. The Great King. The guy you were so prejudiced, but later saw how much more of a human he was. A boy that looks nothing but a goofy, proud, cocky boy, but instead is someone that worked as much, or maybe even more than your friends. Oikawa Tooru, the perfectionist who sacrificed so much to become who he now is.

And you admire him.

Before all this, you still did admire him for how he played, but now it was so much more. He was proud, and he was full of himself, but he was also insecure, and he was afraid. Oikawa was mean, but he was kind, and he could smack the ball so hard that it would scare you, but could sometimes be so gentle you couldn't recognize him, acted stupid but was terrifyingly smart.

And even though you were out here because you were hiding from him, he was standing right across you. "I was a little worried when I couldn't see you inside, staring at me like I'm the most amazing thing."

"I'm not staring at you like you're the most amazing thing!" You protested. "Actually, it's you who's staring at me!" Lies. But instead of calling you out, he smiled. "Maybe you're right. I do look at you quite a lot." He muttered, making your eyes go wide.

"Wh-why are you here, Oikawa-san?!" You managed to choke out, trying to change the subject.

"Oh," his eyes had a sly glint to it, and you thought maybe you shouldn't have asked him that. "I was just wondering if you could..." Did he look- embarrassed? "If you could dry my face for me? Like you did to Kage- I- I mean, dry my face." He held out the towel in his hands, a -although you hated to admit- cute smile on his face.

"What? Dry your face? Me? Why can't you do it yourself?"

He frowned at the question. "You hadn't asked him all these questions." He muttered, making you finally realize what was going on. "You want me to do this because you're jealous?" You couldn't help but giggle. An expression of pure shock flashed on his face. "I'm not jealous of that-" He stopped himself and grinned. "Please do it? Pretty please? For your Senpai?"

You groaned. "Will you shut up if I do as you say?"

He grinned. "But of course, m'lady."

"Oh, just shut up."

"Whatever you say m-" You started to wipe his face, choosing to begin from his mouth just so he could shut up, though feeling his soft lips under your touch, you realized it probably was a big mistake.

He was just as surprised as you, unable to move your fingers, you recognized the odd feeling that was forming in your stomach.

You took a hitched breath in as you finally gathered the courage to move your hand. You touched Oikawa's face softly, dabbing at his slightly reddened cheeks (it had to be the training, you thought), his temples, his forehead. You repeated this once or twice more, and just as you were about to put your hand back down, you felt a slight pressure on your hand, causing you to pressure his cheek, too.

It was Oikawa, you realized.

"Wait, not yet." He told you, his low voice, along with the feeling of his hand on yours sending shivers down your spine. "Don't stop just yet." He closed his eyes, his face leaning in your touch, making you unable to move or think. He just looked so vulnerable-

You had no idea what the hell was going on, but before you could even ask him that, he opened his eyes, a sly glint in his eyes, and a mocking smile on his lips. He was teasing you, wasn't he?

You rolled your eyes, pulling your hand back, freeing yourself from his touch. "Y/N-chan," he pouted. "I was comfortable!"

"Well, I wasn't." You answered, you both knowing very well that was a lie. "You looked pretty comfortable, though."

You sighed. "Oikawa, just shut up, will you? Isn't your break already over?"

He would've given a mocking answer if he didn't notice Iwaizumi running towards him, ready to pull him back to training. He pouted. "You're right. I'll text you, though!" He beamed as he ran into the building.

"Feel free not to!" You answered back, trying to hold back the grin that was forming on your lips.

***

Your phone buzzed in your pocket, waking you up from your nap. You groaned and was turning your phone upside down when you realized the text was from Oikawa.

You immediately felt your sleep vanishing as you unlocked your phone, the brightness making you wince.

"Meet me under the big tree,

Bring some milk bread too, pretty lady."

You grinned and was about to text him back when your phone buzzed with a notification once again.

"It took me like... 10 minutes to come up with that, and Iwa-chan punched me 😔 will you kiss it better?

Btw, I couldn't rhyme midnight with anything but don't be late pls"

You couldn't stop smiling as you sent a meme as an answer, unreasonably afraid of giving him a verbal response.

You locked your phone once again when you didn't get a response, not even aware that you were grinning like an idiot.

***

Just as you promised, you went under the big tree that was behind the building, concealing you from the eyes of your teammates. You were right on time, waiting for him, though he hadn't arrived yet, giving you time to consider if running away and telling him you never came was the right thing to do.

What even was this? Meeting under the tree at night, like some cheap cliché out of a cheesy novel, was just the thing Oikawa would do, you had to admit, but you weren't sure if it was for teasing purposes or something more.

It was normal, you told yourself, nothing special, no need to get your hopes up. But you knew you couldn't keep telling yourself and believe it when he looked at you the way he did when you laughed, when your eyes met his from the other side of the court, when he smacked the ball and scored a point, looking your way to see if you had seen it too.

You didn't know what that look was, or what it meant, but you were smart enough to know that it wasn't anything that would happen between you and Sugawara, or Nishinoya, or any one of your friends, for that matter. It was something that hitched your breath whenever you looked in his pretty brown eyes, the ones that seemed to be always glinting with mockery.

"Did you bring it?" You heard a whisper along with footsteps, though you knew it couldn't be anyone but him whose voice sent shivers down your spine like this.

"Yes, Oikawa-san, I brought it." You rolled your eyes like you were annoyed, a way of hiding the excitement that was in your eyes whenever he was around you. He sat right next to you, leaning on the big tree, his body so close to yours that your shoulders and legs touched with every move. He smelled so nice, the woody smile coming from him mixing with the smell of night, the grass and the trees, his hair tickling your face whenever the wind blew.

He licked his lips when you took what he was asking for out of the basket, your eyes following and mimicking the motion subconsciously. "This is my favorite thing in the world." He groaned as he took a big bite out of the milk-bread in his hands. You saw a glint in his eyes, and he cracked a smile. "Except for you, of course."

"Very funny." You answered with a mocking tone, though you thought it was merciless of him to tease you so. You tensed when you felt his head slowly dropping on your shoulder, his soft hair now in your face, making you grimace. "You just never let me make a move." He sighed, "It kinda started to hurt my ego."

"Maybe I would've if you weren't such a tease." You felt his eyes on you, though you chose not to look at them since you were afraid of what you could see in them.

"Did you like my poem, though? You didn't comment on that today, really broke me since I poured my heart in every word." He pouted, and you wanted to kick yourself to prevent your mind from thinking how cute he looked just then.

"It's not that I didn't comment, but couldn't." You told him. "It was so good that I didn't know what to say."

"Ah, if that's so, there's a lot more if you want me to, you know." He grinned smugly and opened his mouth. "Oh, no need, really, I think that was enough." You told him with a mocking horror.

"The night so chilly, and it's a bit windy. Though it's not a problem since I got you with me." You couldn't help but giggle as he said those lines so seriously, though you knew he wasn't from the smallest thug on his lips.

"I have no words for how great that was." You told him, your hand on your heart with an exaggerated expression. "I don't know if this a blessing or a curse." He replied with a pout, and you laughed.

As he watched you laugh, your arms shaking ever so slightly, he felt the odd feeling in his chest that he had experienced this past week quite a lot. "I'm sleepy, Y/N- chan." He told you suddenly, and you could feel him shuffling in his place to be a bit more comfortable.

"You were the one who called me out here at this hour. And you've been practicing all day, you really shouldn't be skipping sleep."

"It's totally worth staying awake, though." His voice now a low whisper, you felt goosebumps but weren't sure if it was because of him or the chilly night.

"You won't be saying that tomorrow, though." You told him with a small giggle. You could feel him looking at you, and your heartbeat fastened uncontrollably.

"Well then, I have no other choice but to sleep here, then."

"Wha- what are you doing, Oikawa-san?" You stuttered as you felt his head sliding down, resting on your shoulder.

"I'm sleeping. You're the one who told me I shouldn't skip sleep, aren't you?" He grinned slyly, your shoulder oddly comfortable.

You shifted in your place a bit too, afraid that he'll pull his head back and go back to his room, and you scooted a bit closer to him to make him comfortable. Because of the size difference between you, his head was in an odd position that would probably cause his neck to ache tomorrow, so trying to make it a bit better, your hand went to his head to push it back the slightest, though the moment your hand touched his soft hair, you heard him sigh.

"I'm sorry, I-I didn't mean to-" you pulled your hand back, only for him to grab your hand and put it back on his hair.

"No, it's okay- I mean... it's... nice."

"My hand is nice?" You repeated, not able to understand what he meant.

"No... the feeling... the feeling of your hand in my hair is nice." A meek whisper that you probably wouldn't be able to hear if you weren't listening so close went out his lips.

He sounded like a little boy, making you grin unconsciously. "Can you?" He muttered, not even a question. "S-sure." You could feel your cheeks burning, and you could swear you felt his cheeks burning, too.

As you ran your fingers through his soft tresses, you could hear him sighing contently, his breaths getting slower and deeper with every stroke.

His face nuzzling to the crook of your neck, you could swear you felt his lips touching your neck slightly. "Oikawa-san," you muttered, shuffling a bit away from him, only for him to close the gap again, maybe getting even closer to you each time. "Stop doing that." He told you when you tried to get away from him again, this time, his arm snaked around your waist, pulling you even closer to him and not letting you shuffle away.

It's not that you actually wanted to get away from him, you wanted this moment to last forever, but you were also aware that this probably meant nothing to him, whereas it meant too much to you.

"You need to let me go." You told him when you couldn't pull yourself free from his grip.

"I can't let you go." He answered, and you got the feeling that he wasn't talking about this. "I've tried, you know. To let you go, I mean. But you're just everywhere I look, even when you're nowhere to be seen, you're always on my mind." He told you, your hand in his hair freezing with his words.

Not knowing what to say to that, you gave yourself a few seconds to think. "Wow," you finally muttered. "That was pretty cheesy."

He stayed quiet for a second and then snickered. "And that was the worst reaction I have ever gotten to a confession." His hand on your waist loosened, letting you pull back. His head lifted off your shoulders, now looking in your eyes, you shuddered. "Wh-what confession?" You asked, your question making him groan.

"Oh my god, Y/N, I'm trying to tell you I like you!" He finally told you when you looked at him blankly.

He what?

"Do you feel the same?" He asked when you stayed quiet. Did you feel the same? Of course, you did, or why else would you be here? You nodded slightly, an audible sigh of relief coming from his way.

"Then can I... can I kiss yo-"

You kissed him first.

Epilogue:

"C'mon, Y/N-chan, just one kiss, for luck!" He pressed on, making you roll your eyes. "Look, I'm not even asking you to wear my jersey, I respect you wanting to hide this for a bit more."

"Don't you try to fool me, I know you're just saying this because you're afraid of Iwaizumi-san!"

"Am not!" He pouted like a child, crossing his arms. You took a deep breath, not even aware of your boyfriend getting closer to you inch by inch.

"Come on, love, don't be a tease and kiss me already." His voice deep and serious, not giving you the option to refuse. Your eyes widened at the sudden change of attitude, though, you should have gotten used to it by now.

You did as he said, leaning into him and closed the distance between you, touching your lips to his soft ones. Kissing him always gave you goosebumps, in an oddly good way. Resisting the urge to push your hands between his hair and pulling him deeper into you, you pulled back. "There," you told him, trying to hide how out of breath you were just from that 2-second kiss, "happy now?"

"Sugawara-senpai!" You exclaimed, frantically searching for a way to save your ass. He saw the look on your face, a dark expression finding its way on his. "Nuh-uh, don't you try to lie to me." He told you.

"Very." He answered with a smug grin, making you blush and roll your eyes at the same time. He exited the room, and not long after, you followed him, not expecting Sugawara to be there, waiting for you to come out. "Oh well, look what we have here." He told you with a smug look that contrasted with his cute face.

Nishinoya.

"Now, since your boyfriend, Oikawa here is playing a match against us, it's only fair if you kiss us too, for, you know, luck." You knew he was joking, so you rolled your eyes, ready to enter the court to see if your team had started to get ready for the match, eyes widening with fear when you saw the little boy staring back at you with as wide eyes.

"HE WHAT?!" He screamed, his voice thundering in the hallway.

"Oh shit." You muttered to yourself.

Focus (on me)

Focus (on Me)

Request (by anon): Congratulations on 400 followers! Can I get Oikawa with 34 from your prompt list? As fluffly as possibe and maybe lil suggestive please :)) THANK YOU!

A/N: Of course, and thank you sm for participating in the event! This was so much fun to write ngl since I’m in love with this dude, like I can’t even explain. I hope you like this!

Warnings: one curse word, is it suggestive? jelaous Oikawa beware / first time I wrote something this short, it’s 1.3k

Focus (on Me)

Synopsis: Your boyfriend isn’t very happy about you spending so much time on a school project with this guy, and he is determined to get your attention somehow

( [F/N] stands for friend/name! )

Focus (on Me)

You didn't know why your teachers were suddenly obsessed with making break-out rooms or group projects, but it was getting frustrating at this point.

You had at least two projects from almost every subject, and you never even found the idea amusing or rational. Group projects were time-consuming, annoying, and especially hard for socially anxious people.

You were at least glad that you were paired with someone you knew this time, unlike your past two experiences of being paired with people you only knew by name and nothing else. So it might've been true that you were a little more enthusiastic about working with [F/N] since you always liked him a bit more than you did others.

You both got along perfectly, had much in common, and you often found yourself bursting into laughter at something he said, laughing till your stomach ached.

Of course, none of this went missing from your boyfriend, Oikawa.

At first, he was also glad you finally got to do a project with someone you liked. He laughed when you laughed, watching you with a warm gaze as he sat in the corner of the room till you finished the project or said it was enough for the day so you could go cuddle watch a movie with your boyfriend after.

But then he noticed your meetings started to get longer and longer, well aware of how you often swayed from work and had a conversation instead. And when you weren't on a zoom meeting with him, Oikawa found you texting each other. Of course, it was nothing serious, harmless, friendly texts and memes (he had to admit the guy had taste... the memes were hilarious), and it was mostly about school or how you were doing. And even though knowing all that couldn't stop him from getting jealous, he couldn't simply go and tell you he was jealous, could he?

So he decided to solve this his way.

"Hey babe," Oikawa entered your room, his voice loud and the word 'babe'  emphasized so the guy could hear clearly. "Oh, hey, Tooru." You answered back. You were sitting on your bed as you took notes to the notebook next to you. The guy was also doing the same on the other side of the screen.

Even though you didn't greet him back with 'babe' like he hoped you would, he was still grateful for the smile you offered him. "Are you still working on the project? The one about that book you read? What was its name again... Brother's something?"

"Brother's Karamazov." The guy corrected Oikawa, causing him to make a face as he wrinkled his nose in distaste. "Yeah, that." Oikawa muttered as he settled beside you on the bed.

"Tooru? Did something happen?" You couldn't help but finally ask when he stood quiet and watched you and your friend work, pouting or huffing whenever he talked.

"No? Does something needs to happen when I visit my girlfriend?" Your boyfriend protested (once again emphasizing the girlfriend part), taking your free hand between his larger ones as he played with your fingers. "Well, no, but I've never seen you so interested in my projects." You told him with a giggle, smiling softly when he started to draw hearts on your hand with his fingers.

"Well, maybe not your projects, but I'm interested in you." He muttered to you with that look that sent shivers down your spine. "Tooru!" You told him with widened eyes, your gaze flicking to your screen in embarrassment.

"What are you doing?" You hissed between your teeth when he leaned even more towards you, causing your friend to fake a cough in awkwardness. "I'm just showing what's mine." Your boyfriend growled back, only then making you realize what this sudden possessive behavior was.

"Tooru?" You snickered, not able to suppress your mischievous smile, "are you, perhaps, jelaous?"

"Do I look jealous?" He asked, but the angry look in his eyes had already answered for him. "I'm sure he got it." You whispered, "Just let us do the project, 'kay?"

Even though a pout formed on your boyfriend's lips to your answer, he still shook his head and retracted a bit further away from you, not, however, dropping your hand.

"Um, where were we again?" You asked embarrassedly, since, even though you acted like it didn't, your boyfriend had affected you a lot. "We were talking about (...)"

"Oh, yeah. So as an argument to that, we could say-" You hitched a breath in when you felt something soft and warm on the tip of your fingers, something that oddly reminded you of Tooru's lips. You sent a glance at him, only to meet with his dark brown eyes, looking at you sneakily despite the innocent smile on his lips your fingers were tracing, and knowing damn well what he was doing.

"What?" He asked innocently. "You should concentrate, baby."

You cleared your throat, "Y-yeah, um, as I said, we can argue about how in Dimitri's trial, Foyodor... Um, I- I mean-" You gritted your teeth at the soft lips tracing your fingers, leaving trails of kisses on your palm and wrist, climbing it's way up.

This was torture. Pure torture, how you didn't know where the next kiss was going to be, how slow and soft he was kissing you, how you needed to focus but couldn't, and that was exactly what Tooru wanted.

"Tooru!" You whined, turning your microphone off, when his lips climbed up your arm, getting closer and closer to your neck. "What? I'm not doing anything!" He protested. "And you should be focusing." He emphasized the word focus.

Yes, focus. Focus on me. Oikawa thought as he smiled slyly and kept climbing your arm with kisses that drew you mad.

"Hey, Y/N- are you okay? You sound a little... flustered. We can do this later, too." Your friend told you, of course, Oikawa purposefully stood out of the frame, so your friend only saw you.

"Yeah, Y/N, are you okay?" Oikawa asked, looking at you from underneath his lashes, his lips now almost on your shoulder.

"I'm- I'm okay, let's continue." You gritted your teeth as you turned your microphone on, hoping Oikawa would stop before he moved even further since if he even moved an inch, your friend would be able to see him and his mischievous smile, something Oikawa had wanted from the start.

You held your breath when Oikawa's lips traced your shoulder, making you shudder under his touch, his now a few shades darker eyes locked on your computer screen, at your friend who was watching him with widened eyes and a red face.

"I- um, this is probably not a right time, so maybe we should postpone..." your friend muttered, making the lips that were now on your neck thug upwards.

"I'm- you're right, I'm sorry about this- hey!" You warned your boyfriend when he bit the soft skin of your neck, but you heard him giggle in answer.

"I'm gonna get back at you for this, asshole." You told him just before his lips closed on yours and made you gasp under his touch. Eyes automatically closing and arms wrapping his neck as you pulled him closer, you had already forgotten your friend's presence, melting into the kiss. But Oikawa was more than aware of him watching you with widened eyes, and even though he loved to see the defeated look in his eyes, this cute, flustered face of yours was only for him to see.

So without breaking your lips apart, Oikawa averted his eyes to the screen, a snicker making him smile into the kiss as he clicked the red button, finally able to give you his full attention.

It’s hard NOT to be a fangirl (especially when the setter is Oikawa Tooru)

Its Hard NOT To Be A Fangirl (especially When The Setter Is Oikawa Tooru)

A/N: is it evident how much in love I am with this man? I cried at his backstory, I did that. Well, uh, hope you enjoy! And I have a mountain of hw and exams coming up so I might not be able to write something so thats that.

Warnings: spoilers!!! For the spring tournament so beware. Cursing? 5.9k? Oikawa crying in the end? Its NOT angst tho. Also not edited cuz its 1 am

Genre: fluff, Iwaizumi's sister!reader

Synopsis: maybe confusing you with a fangirl wasn't exactly starting off the right foot, but Oikawa thought the stranger that sat with him till the beginning of his next match was... quite charming.

Its Hard NOT To Be A Fangirl (especially When The Setter Is Oikawa Tooru)

Oikawa might've been many, many things, but he was not a coward.

Most of the time, at least.

Whenever it was his feelings he had to be brave about, he never succeeded, especially not when they were towards you. You, who laughed and stood with him, never across but always beside him. Oikawa couldn't afford to be brave.

It was the first day of the Interhigh matches when he had met you. To say Oikawa was having a bad day would be an underestimation. He got dumped by his girlfriend that very day, right before his match, and brutally ripped out of the soft, consoling presence of his fans by Iwaizumi. He just wanted to be fawned over and comforted, maybe eat a snack or two while he was at it, but he didn't even get to do that?

"Stop pouting, Shittykawa." Iwaizumi muttered when Oikawa made an exaggerated 'hmph!' sound for the 20th time the last 5 minutes. "We need to go to the gym, and you need to focus."

"You need to focus too!" Oikawa protested, "but look at you getting ready to go to a date- hey, agh!" Holding the back of his head, Oikawa pouted even deeper this time. "You didn't need to hit me!" Oikawa whisper-yelled.

"I told you to shut the fuck up. Hold your tongue if you don't want to get beaten." Iwaizumi whispered angrily, sending a side glance at his coach to try and see if he had heard stupid Oikawa. Iwaizumi took a breath of relief when the coach didn't even look his way.

"We're gonna sit in the back stands so coach won't be able to see us. You can still watch the game from there, too." Iwaizumi finally spoke after they arrived in the gym, eyes scanning the room to find the perfect hiding place.

"You mean I am gonna sit in the back stands, all alone, cold and freshly dumped." Oikawa frowned, his frown only growing deeper when his best friend rolled his eyes. "Am I wrong? Tell me I'm wrong! As you go on your marry way with your girlfriend, I will be sitting here alone and wallow in my sadness for what... 6 hours?!"

Iwaizumi clenched his teeth, knowing Oikawa had a point. Sighing, he rubbed his temples. "Look, fuck, I'm sorry, okay? Should I tell her I can't come?" He asked gruffly, and despite all his brutality and harsh words, Oikawa knew he would do it if he said the word. "Nah, it's okay. Have fun in your date!" Oikawa answered, earning a baffled glare from the boy.

"Then why the fuck have you been guilt tripping me the past hour?"

"I'm lonely, Iwa-chan! I want attention." Oikawa grinned, professionally avoiding the slap coming his way, his grin growing even wider when Iwaizumi pinched the bridge of his nose in annoyance. " I wonder how I didn't murder you already. Anyway, settle there, and don't move anywhere until the match. And I mean, anywhere, no visiting your fans, looking at yourself in the bathroom mirror, taking selfies before the windows, nothing."

"Okay, okay, I'm not dumb!" Oikawa whined as he threw his gym bag on the free seats. "Say hi to her for me, Iwa-chan!" He called after his best friend.

~~~
It had been almost an hour since Iwa had left, and Oikawa was losing his mind. Why did he agree to this again? He wanted to sit with the rest of his team, that sat across the court but Iwaizumi had told him not to move anywhere (and Oikawa was still a bit hurt at how grateful they seemed when Iwa had told them Oikawa would be sitting separately), so he had opted to social media.
Oikawa wasn't aware of someone else entering the secret back stands and getting closer to him as he watched a short compilation of cat videos. "Oikawa-kun?" You approached him, hiding your snicker when he jumped in his place to look at you. He was quick to hide his shock, a mask of smugness quickly finding its place on his pretty face.
"That's me." He smiled, his chocolate eyes scanning you and meeting your eyes back quickly. He watched as you sat a seat away from him, close but not approachable. He quirked his brow when you stood quiet, holding your phone a little too tightly. A shy fan, how sweet, he thought, smirking as he turned your way. He had an idea of what you wanted.
"Did you, perhaps, want a photo? I might not look as I normally would, though." Oikawa suggested, going by how you held your phone, checking the time every once in a while, you wanted a picture. His brows raised when you didn't say a word but bit your lip as if holding in a smile.
"That's your que to say 'no, Oikawa-kun, you look amazing!" He told you, not expecting your laugh to ring in his ears, baffled both by how sudden and how pretty the sound was. "No, you do look tired, actually." You finally answered, earning a gasp from the boy across you.
"Oh, to think I was going to see the days of my fans calling me tired-looking and ugly!" He dramatically brought his hand to his face, peeking through his fingers to see what you were going to do. You should at least deny he looked ugly, he thought, but his eyes grew wide when you chuckled. Now you were just rude! Did he really look that bad?
"Sorry, I'm not a fan." You pressed your lips in an apologetic smile, trying to hold it sorry and not smug when you spotted the blush on his cheeks. "Oh- I thought..." He cleared his throat to hide the embarrassment. "Most of the pretty girls like you who aproach me are my fans, so I just assumed." He spoke when he finally managed to find back his high-toned, flirty persona.
"That crowd of groupies in the entrance should belong to you, too, then?" You teased, not expecting him to answer yes, bursting into laughter with the unexpected positive answer.
"I kind of have to ask, though, if you're not my fan, why did you approach me, calling my name?" He seemed nonchalant as if he was used to that, but you had to admit it was a bit creepy.
"Oh, Haji- Iwaizumi sent me." You corrected yourself when you remembered how your brother had told you not to tell Oikawa you were siblings (he had warned you about how flirtatious Oikawa could get, and he might see it as a challenge if he figured you were his best friend's sibling. You didn't think it was true, they were best friends after all, but it was better to be cautious anyway.
"Iwa-chan? Ah, so he does care after all!" Oikawa blurted out, his words reminding how your brother had sent you here and how it was something way different than caring. "Well, he did want me to make sure you didn't leave here or call your ex. Heard you had some... problems."
"Cold as a stone, as always." He sighed, and you chuckled. "Can't exactly call it a problem, but being dumped isn't the best feeling in the world." He shrugged, taking a sip out of his water before flashing you a charming smile. Your brows furrowed when he admitted he was dumped, of course, Hajime had already told you that, but judging the boy by his looks, his nonchalant acts, and everything your brother had told to warn you, you hadn't expected him to admit that, especially not to a stranger.
"Well, uh, that sucks." You answered awkwardly, not knowing how to approach the situation. "I'm sorry about that."
"Its okay, as it was bound to happen, anyway. Our relationship wasn't exactly sailing smoothly." He shrugged, but it was evident he was a bit broken about it. "I- uh, I'm not the person people would come for advice in these kind of situations, but I can... listen?"
You felt something warm blooming in your chest when his gaze locked on you, chocolate brown eyes the prettiest you've ever seen, but the surprised, almost grateful look was what made you feel that way. Did he only want someone to listen?
"It's okay, I don't want to burden you with my stupid problems." He chuckled, pulling his playful nature back on the surface. "I don't even know your name."
"Oh, shit, you're right!" You laughed when you realized you hadn't even told him your name but had offered a shoulder to cry on. "I'm Y/N, nice to meet you." You stuck your hand out, his warm (big-) hand gripping yours and causing that warm feeling that was in your chest to spread even more.
"Y/N-chan, it's very nice to meet you." He winked. "So, what is your relationship with our dearest Iwa-chan?"
"Oh- well, uh... you could say he sees me as a sister." You shrugged, not expecting him to pout sympathetically. "Oh no, sibling-zoned? That's harsh, man."
"No it's- hey, you have no right to pity me, you're the one freshly dumped!"
"Hitting low, are we?" He laughed, making you laugh with him. "You look like you're gonna die if you don't ask me how we broke up." He sighed after a second, although he still had a playful smirk. "I guess I have to tell you." He sighed one more time. "We're stuck here for at least 5 hours, anyway."
~~~

"Here you go, a granola bar. Are you sure you didn't want anything else?" You tossed the granola bar to Oikawa, who had his legs on the seats in front of him, making himself comfortable in the uncomfortable seats.

"Yeah, that's enough. Thank you, Y/N-chan." He smiled cheekily, opening the packet with his teeth. "The match is in about an hour, anyway, I shouldn't eat much."

"Sure, whatever you say. Well you were talking about a new player before I left."

"Before your stomach started to scream, you mean." He laughed, and you found yourself watching the smile. These past few hours had flown by so quickly that it almost felt like barely an hour. Oikawa was easy to talk to, and you always found something new to talk about, laughing almost at everything he said. He was really charming, and the confidence that oozed out of every move he did, every word he spoke was attractive, you had to admit.

But as much of a smug player he could be, he often acted childish, too, especially when he talked about a certain Kouhei of his did you see the childlike jealousy and competitiveness clearly. Though despite that, he would have a fond, soft look in his eyes whenever he talked about his teammates, making you feel almost jealous at how affectionate he looked about them.

You knew he was charming and flirtatious, your brother had warned you not to get close because he could and would have you falling for him in no time, but you had underestimated him. You had thought he was acting overly cautious as always, but apparently not.

You saw him checking his phone for a new message. "I gotta go warm up now." He told you as he stood up, the playful glint in his eyes not being missed by you. "I trust you'll watch and cheer for me, right, Y/N-chan?" His smirk was self-satisfied, already knowing the answer, but you didn't want to give him the pleasure. "I'd rather cheer for the ace, actually, much cooler than a setter."

Another dramatic gasp came from the proud setter, making you laugh. "How dare you! Setters are much cooler than aces, I'll have you know. I'll prove it in this match, too." He leaned towards you, and although you already knew how long he was, having him towering over you like this sent goosebumps down your spine. "I'll prove it, just make sure you watch closely."

~~~
"So, was I right or was I right?" Your phone chimed with a new message, and you instantly knew who it was that sent the message. You opened Instagram, accepting the message request.
"I couldn't tell since I was watching the ace the whole time, didn't have the chance to see if you were cooler." You texted back, almost able to see the pout forming on his lips on the other side of the screen. It was a lie, too. The moment you saw his serve, you were unable to take your eyes off him. He looked like a different person on the court. It was almost scary, how focused he suddenly became the moment he grabbed the ball, how he was aware of everything that was happening around him, developing strategies half you didn't even understand and it was terrifyingly beautiful, you had to admit.
"Mean! And I had played exceptionally well just because you were watching :(" You giggled at the text, not noticing how your brother's eyes were narrowed and turned to you instead of the TikToks his girlfriend had sent him. "Who are you talking to?"
"Hm?" You flinched, so concentrated on your phone, you had forgotten your brother was there, too. "Oh, no one. My friend sent me a meme." You stared back at your brother, who was still watching you with narrowed eyes, waiting for you to crack, but you didn't. He nodded curtly, and though he could've pursued it further if not for his phone starting to buzz, the name of his girlfriend appearing on the screen.
"Gotta take this." He told you, standing up and making his way to his room. "Don't stay up late texting." He told you as a warning.
You wished you had taken your brother's advice the next morning when he came in to wake you up. You had texted Oikawa for hours into the night, only stopping when you fell asleep mid-conversation.
"Y/N, I need you to come to the sport center again, today." Hajime told you as you were brushing your teeth, and he was putting gel in his hair to make it look like his signature spiky style. "Again?" You rolled your eyes, earning a soft slap on your head from your brother.
"Don't talk with your mouth full, and don't roll your eyes at me."
"I'll do whatever I- Ow! Okay, okay, I'll be there!" You muttered angrily, but a part of you, the smallest part of you, wasn't as angry as you showed him to be.
~~~

You were there before him, this time. It had been almost 10 minutes since you had arrived, but Oikawa was nowhere to be seen (and you got ready especially neatly this time! What a shame). You sighed, opening your phone to text Hajime Oikawa wasn't here just as you felt a pair of warm hands closing your eyes from your back.

"Quick, tell me the coolest volleyball position!"

"Ace!" You answered and heard his exaggerated sigh. "No, Y/N-chan, I thought we clarified this yesterday!"

"I never admitted to it, though." You told him with a sly smile, causing his fake anger and annoyance to fall and a laugh to breakthrough. "Clever little Y/N-chan." He muttered, plopping down to the seat next to you.

"You look tired." You remarked, making him gasp. "And whose fault is that? You fell asleep! I waited an hour for you to write back, thinking you had something else to do." He frowned, making you chuckle.

"I take none of the blame, you talk too much." You teased.

"Only with people I like." He shot back, catching you off guard and making your eyes widen. "Ah, finally, I won this round!" He cheered. "You, on the other hand, look especially nice today, madame."

"Thank you, kind sir, I got a good night sleep, unlike you." You smiled cheekily, and he was about to answer before loud cheering filled the room and made you wince. You noticed how almost everyone was on their feet, watching the game closely.

"What's going on?" You asked the boy sitting next to you, now also watching the game with a Cheshire cat smirk.

"Karasuno's game started." He answered without taking his eyes off the game. "It was the freakish quick they used just then that caused the cheering."

"The freakish quick?" You repeated.

"Yeah, watch." He told you, sounding excited and annoyed at the same time. You turned your eyes to where he was pointing at, a short, ginger boy. Your brows furrowed, trying to understand just why-

"Oh, shit." You gaped when the boy flew over the court in mere seconds. The ball was on the other side of the net in almost less than a second, and it took you a moment to realize they had just made a spike.

"Oh shit, indeed," Oikawa answered, his smirk still on his lips, but his eyes weren't looking humored. "That little bastard, he had to be this fucking talented." He muttered, speaking almost to himself.

"You don't look worried, though." You smiled. "There is no reason for me to be worried." He smirked proudly in answer, although it had a slight waver to it. "I'm much better than him as a setter. What worries me is the team itself."

"Are they that good? You looked much better in the match yesterday."

"Ah, I knew you were watching me, Y/N-chan! I'm too pretty not to look at." He swiped a soft-looking lock of hair out of his face with a playful smile.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever." You muttered, hiding your embarrassment from him by turning back to the game. "See him, the short boy in the back, he's the libero." Oikawa told you, getting slightly closer to explain, and you would've understood it if it wasn't for how close he was all of a sudden. "He's one of the best I've seen, actually."

"W-what makes him so special?" You asked, turning your eyes back to the game from his pretty face (as if he wasn't handsome enough, he also had a good side profile?!) "That." he answered, his eyes glinting with something you could say awe. You turned back to the boy who leaped to the ground after the ball, his hand sliding over the surface and sending the ball straight up. "His reflexes are unbeleivable, and he's fast and smart, like the rest of his team." He explained further, not aware of how focused he suddenly was, and it was clear he was passionate about the sport. You had never understood why your brother felt devastated after a lost game, or why he was cheering on the top of his lungs, sometimes pushing himself so hard in training that he passed out, coming home late almost every day because of his practice.

But seeing Oikawa watch the game, seeing him in the game, you felt like you could understand what it was. You could never grasp the feeling, but you could understand what it was. And it was infuriating, made you jealous, and you couldn't understand why, but it also amazed you, making you yearn for the strange feeling.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I must be boring you to death." He realized, bringing his hand to scratch the back of his neck in embarrassment, cheeks flushing slightly after talking for almost an hour about everything going in the game, explaining them all in detail.

"No, no its fine!" You answered, laughing at his flushed face. It was funny how he was a charming, devilish, smart, and manipulative guy at one second and a volleyball geek the other. "It helps me appreciate the game better." You shrugged, not aware of how his eyes glinted with your answer. "But don't you think I realized how you're overlooking everything the setter does. You didn't say anything about him."

"What, you're interested in him?" He pouted, causing you to laugh.

"I didn't say I was interested, I'm just telling you you're ignoring him!" You protested after your laugh, but he still had a frown. "Sounds like you're interested, to me."

"No! Okay, okay, keep ignoring him, then. But don't think I missed the jelaousy-" You couldn't finish your sentence because of a sudden hand closing on your lips. "Nope, we don't say that here." He whispered, and somehow, you were able to hear him despite the loud cheering, the crowd, and the loud thumps of your heart.

"What, saying you're jealous?" You spoke beneath his fingers, noticing how his smirk grew wider and cheeks flushing pinker.

"Yep, let's not repeat that and I'll take my hand off you." He waited a few seconds as you stood silent, removing his hand, still having a suspicious look in his eyes. "Good girl." He told you, causing your eyes to widen and shout a protest. "O-oikawa! What the fuck?!"

"What, I didn't mean anything?" He answered innocently, but there was still a smirk on his lips. "Well, okay, I'll tell you about him if you're so curious." He sighed.

"As I said before, he's my Kouhei." You nodded for him to go on. "He's... talented. Very talented. A genius, actually." He laughed uncomfortably. "He's not on my level yet, but his talent... it even makes up for it and I hate to see how despite all my days I spent training, he's still better than me easily."

"I- oh." You muttered, not expecting something like this, especially for him to admit someone else was better than him and will always be better than him.

"Tomorrow we're playing with them." He told you, and despite the forced smile, you could see how he clenched his teeth. "I can't- I won't lose to him."

"You won't." You agreed.

"I'll fight as hard as I can but we won't lose to them. I'll fight Shiratorizawa, I'll play against Ushiwaka and show him, prove him I did the right thing by choosing Seijoh and not his dumb school." He looked determined, eyes glinting with such determination that even though you had no idea what he was saying at that point, you wanted to agree and cheer him on.

"You will." You agreed once again, causing him to smile. "I'm sorry, I think I'm just a bit stressed."

You smiled, shrugging as if to say it's nothing. "No, no problem, I understand what you mean. It must be nerve-wracking."

"Well, it is."

"I'm horrible at advice, but uh, want me to show you what I do when I'm stressed? Like before exams and stuff. It might help." You smiled, extending your hand out to show him, not expecting him to do the same, and hold your hand like a handshake.

"You're right, that does help." He grinned, shaking your hand and making you burst into laughter. "That wasn't what I was going to do!"

"Oh, it wasn't? Still helped, though!" He told you innocently, teasing you even more. "C'mon, stick your hand out like this." You giggled.

"Now start drawing-" you told him, focusing on drawing shapes and letters in his hand. He was going to say a snarky remark at how that wasn't how it went, but Oikawa couldn't bring himself to stop you from doing whatever you were doing as he watched you focus on his hand, fingers running over his calloused ones, the tip of your tongue sticking out from the corner of your mouth without realizing, and every move of your finger sent goosebumps down his body.

Noticing you had lost yourself in thought, absent-mindedly going on drawing on his hand for a good few minutes, you raised your eyes to meet his brown ones. "Does that... help?"

"It- uh, it does. I'll need you to do this before the game tomorrow, too, though." He smirked playfully, his hand closing on yours just as he said it. "Well, I'm glad I could help." You shrugged, trying to hide how embarrassed you were. You could tell he already knew how you were feeling by the smile on his lips, but instead of teasing you about it, he turned to the game without letting your hand go, smiling even wider when you didn't pull it, either.

~~~
"You guys were great at the game today." You texted Oikawa that night, not sure whether he would answer, though your thoughts disappeared when he texted back instantly.
"It must be your doing." He wrote, sending a picture of him doing the peace sign right after.
"I don't think I can come early tomorrow, though. I won't be able to do it again. Are you ready for the game tomorrow?"
"Oh no, how could you? I can never overcome the stress now. Will you let me call you if I say I'm not ready?" He texted back, making you chuckle.
"Just this once."
Your phone started ringing right after, a 'yahoo' greeting you when you picked it up.
"Hi, Oikawa-kun."
"Are you free?" He asked, and you shrugged as if he was across you and not on the other side of the phone. "I was getting ready to bed."
"Thinking of me before bed, you must have a crush on me, Y/N-chan." He chuckled, somehow still able to tease you through the phone. "Hey, I-"
"No, actually, don't answer that." He stopped you. "I had something else in mind when I called you, but you cute voice is too distracting." He sighed.
"Oh." You answered, making him laugh, his laugh ringing in your ears.
"Yeah, well... I was wondering, I mean after the match tomorrow." He cleared his throat. "No, actually, will you cheer for me tomorrow?" He finally asked, and you could tell he was holding his breath.
"Cheer for you?" You repeated.
"Yeah, only- only for me." He spoke, this time merely a whisper. "I mean, of course you cheer for me, everyone does because I'm that-"
"Yes, Oikawa." You laughed and cut his self appreciating ramble off. "I'll cheer for you, and only you."
"Y-you will? Well then, maybe you'll accept my offer to perhaps grab a coffee or something after the game? To make up for not being there with me tomorrow?" You were trying to stifle a laugh at how unsmooth he was despite his reputation when he spoke again. "Am I- am I pushing it? I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable."
"No, you're not making me uncomfortable!" You protested quickly, already aware of how dramatic he could get. "I'm just, well, surprised. But yes, I'd like to grab a coffee with you. Anywhere but those god awful stands, actually." You chuckled, hearing the relieved breathe coming from his side of the line.
"Well, if that's settled," he spoke, and you could hear the smile in his voice. "Tell me, Y/N-chan, what's your favorite color?"
Wow, you thought, he really sucked at flirting.
~~~

"I'm here." You texted both your brother and Oikawa. It was merely minutes away from the start of the game, all because of a dumb chemistry quiz you had at school. You finally found a free seat when you noticed they were done warming up and were getting ready.

"Good, we're about to start the game. I'll probably meet my gf after the game, so don't start crying if you don't see me." Was the first text you got, rolling your eyes at how much of an idiot your brother was. "Yeah, whatever, not like I'm here to see you." You texted back, noticing how his head perked up when he read the text, eyes scanning the seats to find you as he texted a "WHAT THE FUCK DOES THAT MEAN?!"

"Wish me luck, Y/N-chan, just remember your promise to cheer for me ;p" Oikawa texted back, also raising his head to search you in the crowd, but he was successful at finding you, eyes locking for a second, of course, he sent a playful wink at you.

The game started after that, and you could swear you were losing years of your life with each given and taken points. You had screamed at the top of your lungs at one point, so worked up, you sometimes forgot what was happening.

"Oikawa, good serve!" You screamed (he had told you to say that when he was serving the day before, and you could see it immediately brought a smile on his lips).

The third set was the worst, you thought. No one ever got to widen the point gap, always one of them at match point, points being given and being taken, and you were sure you were going to lose your mind if they-

You watched as Oikawa ran to receive a ball, running so fast that he was unable to stop himself from crashing into the table, falling on his bad knee that you could only imagine how much it hurt, but not before pointing at Hajime, your brother, the ace. He set an incredible ball for him, incredible even for someone like you who didn't know anything other than the basics about volleyball.

You could feel tears swelling in your eyes as he tumbled into the table, pulling himself back up almost immediately and limping back towards the court.

He was... he was determined to win.

But he couldn't.

You watched as Oikawa tried to receive the ball flying towards him and failed. You couldn't watch when he realized he failed. He lost. But he was still there to make his teammates gather for the lineup, patting them on the back to cheer them up, thanking the crowd, but his face was down, helping his teammates collect themselves back, your brother too when he was also devastated inside.

Still, Oikawa managed to hold it all in, unlike your brother and most of the team that was crying. You couldn't hide your disappointment in, either, eyes already wet with tears because you thought they were going to win, and they thought they were going to win too, and seeing Oikawa like this, it hurt. You watched them as they left the court, your eyes following the brunette who had separated himself from the rest of the team, going somewhere else with a quick pace.

You rose to your feet without even realizing it, running after him without thinking what to say or to do, but you just wanted to be there, and you were so focused on finding him that you hadn't realized Hajime following his friend or rather, you, either.

You were about to enter the room Oikawa had entered a minute before you when someone held you by the arm and pulled you back. "Y/N, don't." Your brother warned you, and maybe you should've listened since they were friends for years. "It's not- you shouldn't go in, not right now. Give him time."

He sighed when you freed your arm from his grip. "He wouldn't want you to-" the door shut in his face, and he only got a glimpse of his best friend's tear-stricken face, "-see him like that." Iwaizumi finished his sentence as a whisper to himself.

You thought this might've been a bad idea the moment you entered the room. "O-oikawa?"

"What are you doing here?" You heard him say, the room dim-litted, making it near impossible to see his expression, but something in you told you, you didn't want to. "I'm- well, I'm here to see if you're okay-"

"Get out." You heard him say, merely a whisper but still there. "I don't want you to see me like this, stop looking at me! I don't want to see the same pity I see at everyone else's face, pitying me for losing to my own Kouhei and-" His voice getting higher and higher with each word, he was almost screaming the last few words. So you hugged him, you didn't know what led you to do so, was it instinct to relieve his tension? You didn't know, but it still worked, you noticed.

His stiff muscles started to relax with the sudden contact, and though he stood as still as a stone, not hugging you back, you didn't feel rejected. "Shh, I know." You whispered, breathe brushing over his skin and sending goosebumps down his spine.

"We lost." He whispered, a sob finding its way out of his lips. His arms came up, hugging and pulling you to himself, almost as if he tried to swallow you whole, burying his face to your hair. He was big, much bigger than you, for sure, so the sobs that shook him shook you, too, but you didn't mind.

"We lost." He sobbed again, and again, and again and again. It took him a while to let it all out, but he felt better when he did. His arms were still around you when his cries had died, your scent affecting him to relax.

"Thank you." You heard him whisper as he pulled back, not looking in your eyes once. "Of- of course." You shrugged, feeling somewhat awkward as he wiped his face with a tissue.

"Well," he spoke, looking in your eyes for the first time for what felt like hours, "that's me. The Oikawa Tooru. Now you know me better than almost anyone else." He shrugged, trying to sound and look indifferent but failing miserably. His voice and his hands shaking, eyes looking at you with almost fear.

"Are you going to leave now?"

"Leave?" You repeated.

He shrugged. "Now that you've seen I'm not the clever captain or the charming playboy, but a- an insecure, jealous man, who is now also a failure, are you going to leave?"

"Oikawa," you whispered, noticing he was more insecure than he let on. "Just because you are more than what you look like, it doesn't cancel the others. You're still the smart, cunning, and amazing captain, the charming flirt who made me fall for him in mere days, and the man who lost a match with a point. A man, striving to be better than everyone else, with goals and a purpose in life. I don't think I could leave you for having a purpose in life." You chuckled.

"Well, that of course if you-" Before you got to finish, you felt pressure on your lips, stopping you from talking. It was his soft lips, this time, making you silent. It was a soft kiss, his hand cupping your cheek and pulling your face towards his, his lips were almost brushing yours, but it still felt heavenly.

"I think we should go before your brother marches in and kills us both." He whispered to your lips with a sly smile. "Yeah, I think you're- wait, you knew he was my brother?!" You exclaimed, making him chuckle.

"Of course I did, who do you take me for? I am the clever captain of Seijoh, I knew it the moment you told me you were like a sister to him."

"Well, the clever captain of Seijoh, use your brain to find us another way out but the door, since I'm pretty sure Haji is guarding it."

"Ah, I have the perfect idea." He snickered, picking up his phone, and entering the name of Hajime's girlfriend.

"Tooru, where are you, are you okay, do you-"

"Hey, hey, I'm alright, I just need a favor." Oikawa whispered into the phone. "I'm stuck inside a room, and the door is being guarded by Iwa-chan whose waiting to kill me, so please get him out of here?"

"Tooru, are you with a girl?" You heard the voice screaming on the other end of the line, making you both wince. "Please just help me just this once?"

You heard her sigh. "Okay, okay, hang in there." She closed the phone, and it took only two seconds for your brother's phone to ring.

You were in awe when Hajime suddenly screamed, "What?! Whose checking you out? I'm fucking coming baby, don't move anywhere." sprinting down the hall.

"You're a magician."

"I'm amazing." He muttered right before leaning in for yet another kiss, smiling against your soft lips.

Boy in love

Boy In Love

a/n: this is just a lil excuse to write the scene where you kiss Oikawa on his cheek and he smiles stupidly as he holds his face like he's trying to hold the kiss there forever.

Boy In Love

Warnings and genre: not really angst, I made it look like it but its actually fluff (not proofread)

Boy In Love

Oikawa feels like his heart is suddenly five kilograms heavier, dropping and dropping in his chest.

He feels a lump in the back of his throat at the sight of you chuckling at Iwaizumi, a sick feeling creeping up from his stomach to his chest, but it seems Oikawa is unable to look away from you.

You, who is standing under a pretty tree, the wind carrying the sound of your laughter all the way to him, Oikawa feels the goosebumps creeping up from his spine since he's not the reason for your laughter, but Iwaizumi is.

You look small under Iwaizumi's shadow, shielding you from the blinding sun, but Oikawa thinks he would rather see your smile shining with the warm light grazing it.

Oikawa finds himself feeling a tint of jealousy as he watches you fiddle with your fingers, with shyness, Oikawa supposes, averting your eyes from the handsome boy standing before you, who laughed along with you.

Oikawa isn't stupid. He knows what's happening, and despite the distance between you and his best friend, Oikawa feels he's witnessing something intimate.

He can't stop himself from thinking why, and it makes him feel even more guilty. Oikawa remembers- knows you. You were one of his fans, and your face has been familiar to him for a long time.

Perhaps you had thought he never noticed you since you were on the more quiet side, after all, not as bold as the others who came up to him to ask for a photo, gave him homemade goods, flirting with him without a thought.

You usually stood a bit further in the group, sending him a smile he always found adorable, mouthing a little 'do your best!' even though you thought he never saw it. And Oikawa knew, whenever the game got tough, it got strange and foreign, he knew he could send a glance at the stands, and you were always there, smiling and looking at him with awe, and it always helped Oikawa find his momentum again.

Oikawa only then realized how often he had started to see you around, actually. You were often by Iwa's side, hanging out with him and Oikawa at lunch breaks every once in a while. Oikawa always thought you were nice to converse with, and he liked talking to you, making you laugh, and even tease you sometimes. Even though he often felt you were hesitant at talking to him.

You seemed strained as if you found it hard to speak with him, and Oikawa only then noticed how much he hated seeing you laugh so bright and talk so light to his best friend instead.

He secretly hoped it was him you were there for, but looking at you two now, he has to admit, it's a little painful to see you with Iwaizumi instead, closer to him than you have ever been to Oikawa.

He has no right to feel this way, even though he had liked you all this time, ever since he had first seen you. After all, Oikawa hadn't done anything to approach you, but it wasn't because he didn't want to, but it seems, Oikawa was clueless as to what to do at anything about you.

He felt... shy, when yiu were around.

And now he had missed his chance, he thought grimly. All because he was stupid and a coward and-

But Oikawa is good at masking his thoughts, something he was able to do for years now, so he's able to send you a bright smile when he notices you averted your eyes from the green ones to his, a small wave of your hand directed in his way.

"Y/N-chan!" He chimes, his body making its way to you before his mind even realizes it.

"Hi, Oikawa-kun." You smile, but it feels even more strained than the ones you usually had around him. There is a tint of tension hanging in the air, and you seem nervous, Oikawa takes note with a frown. Even more so than the usual.

"Is there something wrong?" The question makes you panic and Iwa grin widely as he glances at you. It's a look of 'you're on your own,' but Oikawa is too focused on you to notice. "No- no, nothing wrong." You try to answer, but the panicked way you speak is a big give-away.

"Did Iwa-chan say something mean?" Oikawa glances at his best friend. "You really have to learn to control yourself, you know." You can't hold back a laughter when Oikawa fails at dodging Iwa's hand, rubbing the back of his head with a wince. "This is what I mean! Control your- okay, sorry, don't hit me."

"It isn't anything Iwa did, don't worry." You assure the brunette with a giggle, who seems a little off today, as well. "Well then," Oikawa shrugs, "what were you talking about?"

Oikawa knows he hit jackpot by the panicked look in your eyes and the grin that appears on Hajime's lips. "Umm," you start to fiddle with your fingers and its Iwaizumi's que to leave.

Oikawa doesn't even notice it as Iwa excuses himself with a flimsy reason, sending you a gruff smile as you look at him, almost like you're crying for help.

Oikawa has a few guesses as to whats happening, and none of them seem good.

(were you going to tell him you started dating? was that what you were talking about, laughing a few seconds ago? since it was only normal, Oikawa would be the first you would tell if it were true, Oikawa can't feel anythingbut panic.)

"Come on, Y/N-chan, just tell me!" Oikawa insists, his fake smile still hanging on his lips. "I won't tell anyone, I promise." The playful wink he concluded his sentence with makes you bite your lips.

You nod and Oikawa feels like maybe he shouldn't have asked you to tell it to him now. Oikawa's not sure if he's ready to hear his feelings can never be reciprocated, but he still manages to keep his smile.

You look at him brightly, smiling a little, and you wave your hand as to tell him to come a little closer.

As you bring your face closer to his, you're leaning towards his ear, he notices. You're going to whisper it to him? Oikawa can't say he's surprised, Iwaizumi had always been a more closed off person, after all, it's normal he doesn't want everyone to know you are dating, probably.

But it isn't what happens, instead, Oikawa feels your lips graze the smooth skin of his cheek, pressing a small kiss on his face and pulling back quickly.

Oikawa freezes, the position he's in, slightly bend forward, hands behind his back, is a little awkward, too, but he can't think clear enough to stand straight.

What just happened?

His widened eyes find yours, you have a smile on your lips, and you're desperately trying to hide your embarrassment and failing, but Oikawa's the one in the worse condition, so it's okay.

You wave him a small goodbye, and you're running off without saying anything or letting him get himself back together.

Seconds, minutes and maybe even more goes by and Oikawa's still standing under the tree, trying to understand if this was a dream his mind came up with.

He raises his hand up to his face, his fingers grazing the skin you had pressed your lips, and he finds it still warm. At that, it's impossible for Oikawa to suppress the smile now appearing on his lips, his eyes ramaging through the area to catch a glimpse of you to return the kiss.

You're standing a few meters away from him, hiding behind the wall of your school building. You can't help but think it's a sight to behold, Oikawa flushed a reddish pink, a stupid smile on his lips as he cups his cheek like a boy in love.

Oikawa feels terrified.

People are dancing, jumping, shouting with glee, everyone at least a bit tipsy, the beer glasses in their hands seem like they never go out.

Each time the dance comes to a jump, the golden fluid in cups jumps with them as well, glinting under the candlelight.

His eyes fall on you, you whose dancing in the middle of the ballroom, laughing with everyone else, dancing carelessly at the day that's supposed to be the happiest of your life.

You seem to be enjoying it, and it only makes Oikawa that more anxious.

He doesn't know you well; you've only met a few times before, each time chaperoned and with masks fit to blue-bloods such as yourselves.

All your meetings consisted of empty words and kind- but fake smiles, chatting mindlessly on what's seen appropriate of a prince and a princess that are soon to wed.

You seem lovely, and Oikawa isn't that much sad he's marrying you- he feels like you can get along well if you get to know each other better. No, Oikawa isn't feeling like this because he's marrying you, but because you're marrying him.

He, the charming prince- smart, funny, and kind, any girl would kill to be in your place, he's aware.

Everyone wants to be with him, get to know and be acknowledged by him- but there is a catch. Whenever someone does manage to get to know him, the magic gets broken, the facade, sparkling fog over the rotten thing he calls his personality comes on the surface of the water, and people leave.

Oikawa went through this one too many times, so he embodied the fake persona he puts on, never letting anyone get close to him enough to see what's underneath.

He knew this day was to come, though. Oikawa knew he was going to marry someone so he could unite his kingdom and theirs, but he always hoped it wouldn't be you.

Not because he didn't like you, though, on the contrary, because he liked you maybe a little more than the other princesses. Oikawa just hoped- he hoped you wouldn't regret marrying him, or even worse, be disappointed with who he really was.

Once again, his eyes spot you in the room, fighting a smile when he finds you looking at him, as well. There's a sheen layer of sweat on your face, making you glow under the candlelight, face bright with a smile, hair messed up with all the dancing and jumping.

His gaze never once leaves you as you find your way to him, breathless as your hand reaches for his.

"You look so grim, my lord." You chuckle, lightly tugging him to dance. "Is there something bothering you?"

You were always so kind, easy to talk to, it made him feel like he could tell you anything, and you would... you would smile in answer. He shakes his head no, letting you pull him towards the inner room.

The air is warmer and heavier, it smells of beer, but looking at your smiling face, it seems none of them matters.

His movements are fit to a prince, dancing fluidly and putting every other to shame. You make a small comment on it, as well, earning a chuckle from the prince. "It would be odd if I didn't know how to dance, though, wouldn't it?"

You nod, but you seem troubled.

"Is there anything you can't do, my lord?" He hears your soft voice as Oikawa twirls you in his arms. Despite his hopes, you catch the small frown his lips press into, brows pulling together, even only a millimeter. "I don't mean disrespect," you quickly retort. "I was just asking so I could get to know you a little better."

When he stays silent, you once again fill the silence with your voice. "I, for example, can't sing."

You snicker as you watch his eyes widen. "You can't?"

"Nope, I promise you, you haven't seen anyone sing worse than me."

"But I've been told you have an angelic voice!" He confronts you, but his shoulders are shaking just a little bit. "Yeah, well-" you smile sheepishly, "I can't."

For whatever reason, this makes Oikawa feel just a bit better. To hear you aren't what the rumors of you show you to be, makes Oikawa feel like maybe, you're a little similar.

"I can't use a bow."

You hear him whisper minutes after your confession, and it takes you by shock. What takes Oikawa by bigger shock is, however, when you start to laugh.

"Is it really that funny?" He scoffs with embarrassment as you're still laughing. You shake your head no, trying to stop your giggles, but it takes you a minute. "It's just- you said it as if it's the worst thing ever!"

"It is a bad thing!" The prince protests, cheeks flushed with either glee or a product of dancing. "I even have a reputation about how good I am with a bow- but I can't hit a standing target if it killed me."

"Well, I can't do a knot."

"I don't like writing."

"Very bad with numbers."

"Afraid of horses."

The confessions slip out of your mouths uncontrollably, each one making both of you break out with laughter until-

"I'm not... very honest." Oikawa mumbles to your ear; he's gotten closer to you these last few dances, you realize, your chests almost pressing together. He holds his breath, afraid of your reaction, his tense shoulders dropping when he feels you chuckle once again. "I see." You murmur. "That's a little relieving to hear if I'm being honest."

"What?"

You shrug. "It's just- you know, my lord, you have quite the reputation." You go on talking when he stands quiet. "You're portrayed as this man, free of taint and capable of anything- and it was worrying me you were that flawless."

"You wouldn't... want me to be?"

You chuckle at his confused stare. "I wouldn't be opposed to it! But it would make me really nervous, as well. I think it's nice to know you're human, too, just as we are. Like marrying a unicorn or something." you joke.

Were you really worried he was flawless? It's so absurd that Oikawa feels he's about to burst out laughing.

"Well, don't you worry, my princess," a soft chuckle emerges from the man. "I have many flaws to show you."

"And I have many myself." You beam at him.

Both of you will discover these flaws and insecurities over time, but you have a life ahead of you to do so.

And despite still holding his former thoughts, Oikawa's heart feels just a little lighter knowing you're here to get to know him with his flaws.

Request: Hiii!!! Congratulations On 600 . You Deserve It All And More Bby. I'm So Proud Of You. I Hope

being on uni break (no structure to my life) in winter (seasonal depression era) has lead to me regressing to my youth. started and finished a 105,691 word fic in one day, just because i didn't have plans

i ate it up though, of course.

(not that anyone asked but it was Conquering the Great King by Suggestive Scribe. An Iwaoi AU. much hornier than i thoguht it would be. I thought it would have smut, but like, a reasonable amount. but GOOD LORD these guys fuck like NOBODIES business. any chance they got. and it was so well written too. incredible stuff 10/10. the last 2 chapters had me reading lines from the bottom of the screen so i didn't unintentionally spoil it for myself.)

[00:54] Oikawa Staying The Night

he wasn't used to such extravagant gestures, that being said he wasn't used to gestures specialised for him. yes, he had the love of his fans and media, yet it never filled the void in his heart. the void that craved comfort, warmth, a sense of security in forms of romance and not the empty cheers from strangers he knew he would never encounter again. he craved a sense of warmth that a person would obtain by coming home to their loved one after a long day. he had everything but love. he had everything but the one thing he sincerely yearned for during his college years. he had everything but the one emotion he had neglected during his high school years, as he was too busy prioritising something that he had soon led on to become his wildest realities.

yet here he was, finding comfort, warmth, home, in someone who he had only stumbled upon several weeks ago. he found security and reassurance in someone who once insulted him for his unhealthy obsession with milk bread, someone who he thought would be a fading dream after several days. yet here they were. in their glory, resting a hand above oikawa tooru's head, running their fingers through his hair, as he slept like a baby in their arms. the blue glare of the tv in the background, the crickets in the night, the empty cans, snacks, plastic bags, dispersed across the coffee table, as the couple laid comfortably on the chaise sofa oikawa had once believed he would never sleep in. oh how he was eating his words.

oikawa tooru promised himself to never get attached once he would go pro, said it was going to be a burden on his career and would make him stray from his path. always such a pessimist, he was, never realising that the presence of another being could bring solace into his life.

he stirred in his sleep and they slowly hushed him again, with a soft voice, stroking his head again as they too began to drift off into a slumber of their own, yet careful, so as not to abruptly awaken the brunet from his desired nap. slowly, their eyes drooped and they relaxed their grasp around oikawa, already falling asleep before hearing him mutter-

“i'm so glad i met you.”
