It's So Completely Divorced From What I Think Feminism Should Actually Be - Tumblr Posts

Unpopular opinion: social movements do not belong on clothing.

Social movements are not fashion symbols or status icons. Being a feminist, anti-racist, pro-queer etc. should never be fashionable. It should be right, but it should be divorced from things that are fleeting and changing. Don’t marry your ideologies to things that are meant to shift with the seasons.

Also, how feminist is it to buy a shirt that says “feminist” on it? Was feminism enacted in every step of the shirt’s making? Do the women who make the shirt make a decent wage? Do the companies that source its materials do all they can to empower women? Does the fast fashion industry, with all its excess and waste, actually stand for social justice?
