I would like to state for the official record that while I hate I REPEAT HATE the idea of Ianthe and Harrow being anything other than weird competative love/hate buddies…I’m kinda falling in love with Ianthe as a character. I always appreciated her but ultimately disliked her. The longer I wait for Alecto, the more Ianthe burrows like a confident worm into my soul. I feel filthy but proud of it.
the reason i love ianthe so much is because of how unrepentantly awful and pathetic she is.
she tries to evil gloat like once but her tummy hurts too much to do it propery. she cries herself to sleep every night. she overshares about how corona nearly killed her in the womb. she makes a joke nobody laughs at. in harrow she tries to affect dispassion but instead she just comes across as incredibly bizarre in all her interactions.
she's such a fucking mess. character of all time.
cuntiness is such an important character trait
I know Abigail saying Ianthe was "never quite the thing" is probably meant to reference some kind of political beef between them, but I just have this mental image of 14 year old Abigail being handed baby Ianthe at whatever the evil necromancer equivalent of a christening party is and just immediately deciding that this baby's vibes were weird.

I think the most interesting, perhaps horrifying, part of The Unwanted Guest is the fact that Naberius Tern haunts the narrative much more than I previously thought.

yes i just finished the locked tomb. yeah i'm going insane in griddlehark. yep i'm gonna make tlt four quarters of my personality. yea i'm gonna breath in harrow and speak in gideon and dream in camilla and palamedes and think in corona and behave in ianthe. i'm gonna make theories and connect threads you didn't know existed. i'm gonna sob and scream and throw up and laugh about them. i'm gonna be able to conceive nothing but them in this universe. i'll simultaneously simp for them and wish to stab them. i'll blame tamsyn muir for making me suffer this much, but oh, i would wonder who i was before the locked tomb.
