Emily had found it in a meeting room of the library. It sat there, lonely, ignored. It was such a sad state to see a piano in. They were meant to be played. They were meant to be enjoyed.
Her mother had taught her to play when she was alive. They would spend their evenings around the radio and then sit at the piano, playing popular and classical songs, whatever their fancy. Seeing it there, deserted, sparked not only her memories of her mother, but of the last time she saw her. Emily had been so angry as her parents forbid her marriage. Had she known then it would be the last time she saw them, what would she have done differently? She prayed they had forgotten her final anger and remembered those nights and the piano.
She sat on the bench, hands running over the ivory keys. There was a Do Not Play sign on the top that she reached up and turned around. Out of sight, out of mind.
Her worries that she might have forgotten dissipated as her fingers moved over the keys in an American Quarter tune. Carefully and cheerfully, she moved through the tune, forgetting the restrictions until she heard the sound of the door behind her. “I’m so sorry!” She gasped as she spun to face her intruder. “The sign was turned around. I didn’t see it.”

WHEN AURORA WASN’T BUSY tending to her flowers , spending time with her beloved philip or wandering aimlessly around town , she fancied coming to the library and allowing the many books to take her far , far away to lands she’d never been to , stories she’d never experienced . growing up in the woods wasn’t as terrible as one may think , but it certainly meant her world knowledge was very limited . if anything , the woods from home and the town of elias were all she’d ever known .
on most occasions , her visits to the library would last for hours that she would fill with her reading adventures , but today was a bit different . right as she was close to finishing another chapter , the princess her a sweet melody coming from somewhere in the library . it wasn’t too loud that it became a problem ( at least not to her ) , and it certainly peaked her interest . and so , standing from the comfortable seat , book in hand , she followed the sound to what seemed to be a room of sorts , and carefully opened the door only to be greeted with a gasp that stole one from her own lips .
❝ it’s alright ! oh , don’t apologize , i’m sorry i startled you ! ❞ she is quick to apologize , absolutely hating the slight feeling of guilt . ❝ i heard this beautiful music , so i had to see where it came from ... i’m not here to scold you , miss . ❞ with a gentle smile , aurora nodded towards the piano . ❝ are you a pianist ? ❞
