She had finished setting up the last one, and she started humming as she walked down the walls, patrolling. It was an old song she heard when she traveled through the woods, across the many settlements of the outsiders and the cog. She found it was a favorite, and since there’s plenty of time to kill after doing what she had to do.
She had to wait until either he finished saying his love or until the traps were no longer spilling glitter and sparkle. She was fine with either, but...When was the last time she had done something this dedicated to someone? For someone as kind as JD? There was an answer, but she brushed it off, they were friends. Nothing more.
“Boy with a coin, he found in the weeds with bullets and pages of trade magazines, close to a car flipped on the turn when God left the ground to circle the world.”
The words slowly and quietly spilled from her lips as she started to sing, and dance to an imaginary beat in the quiet hall, where she heard it from a time when the swarm was once the locust. When the world was in chaos, constantly fluctuating and in a fluid balance that others would cry in anger over.
I can't wait until this bane of my existence comes out
I just watched I Saw the TV Glow and it has fundamentally changed my person and the course of my life.

I had no clue where this was going at times. There was a moment where The Pink Opaque was a Candle Cove situation, but boy was I wrong.
The flashbacks to his childhood in the show was so wild. Owen screaming that he’s not safe, and that his dad isn’t his dad. Then just after puking up TV static was horrifying.
The underlying trans themes are absolutely crushing. When Maddy came back I thought her question would be about her transitioning. And the parallels of how moving away and being yourself will save you, while staying and hiding yourself will kill you. Somehow, it was worse.
Having Owen be in a dress, brought me so much joy and sadness. He looked so happy, he never looked that happy for the rest of the movie. At the end saying how he has a family now, and how much he loves them, the way he says it sounds so sad. Like he had to settle and accept that he will not be himself.
The constant battle between “There is still time” to “You are running out of time” is horrible.
The colors that are used are perfect. The mix of pink and purple with the contrast of blue and green. Pink and purple were the over all colors used, especially when the show comes on. Almost like that this is where Owen is realizing that he may be trans. And blue/green when rejecting it. That all he can be, and all he knows how to be is a man.
This movie is easily one of the best movies I’ve watched this year, if ever. And it’s definitely the most impactful.
There is easily stuff I missed, or just didn’t mention. PLEASE go look at other posts, because they show phenomenal foreshadowing in the movie along with the story telling.
