Don't forget Gaza people!

it's really funny how much of this has basically ended up becoming true in one way or another. WASM, eBPF, both technologies with a ton of applications that rely on just putting shit in lightweight VM's, one of which is directly embedded in the kernel. Kubernetes supports WASM workloads now!

Take a happy vampire Jouno

i honestly don't even care if ive already posted this. look at it again

After getting over the initial shock and heartbreak of this tweet and this reply, it hit me that (and I don't know if this is a cultural thing here in the middle east or an Islamic one)
A child has to be named even if they're stillborn.
For a child to not be named, that means there's no one left to name them. They were killed along with their entire family.
I hoped I was wrong, but I checked the list of victims of Israeli attacks and found this:

Israel has ended 47 Palestinian bloodlines over the course of this genocide (or perhaps more), so you might think that this little detail isn't that important, but I don't think we should get used to cruelty of this proportion, no matter how consistently Israel commits it.
The number of victims isn't just a number. These are people with full lives and hopes and dreams.
It's enough of a disaster that these families were wiped out, but in murdering them, Israel didn't just deprive them of their lives, hopes, and dreams. It deprived them of even the dignity to name their children.
It continues to deprive the remaining Palestinians of their most basic human rights.
What did the Palestinians do to not deserve food or water or electricity?
What did their *newborns* do to not deserve lives or at the very least names?!
This is the most harrowing form of terrorism I can think of. The genocidal Israeli occupation is the most despicable terrorist organization the world has had the displeasure of knowing.
The whole world should be deeply ashamed that it's not only allowing such heinous war crimes to be committed, but in a lot of ways, it's enabling them.
I don't know how anyone can be neutral about this.
Stand with Palestine, stand against the occupation. Against genocide.
Do you ever just think about how the headboard on Kevin's bed on the Nest doesn't budge. Of all the hints about what his life there was like that's the one that gets to me the most because it's so deliberate. Because even though he's probably physically stronger than Riko or at least evenly matched, Kevin wouldn't fight back. But he wasn't given the choice to anyway
honestly i think putting neil in kevin’s side of the room is such a telling choice during the castle evermore scenes. we spend so much of the first and second book hearing about how much kevin fears his so-called family, their haunting of the narrative as bloodthirsty hounds who can sniff out his fear, and when we actually get to finding out why that is we see it from someone who was immediately shoved into kevin’s old place. riko wasn’t just hurting neil because he wanted to (“i’m going to enjoy hurting you just as much as i enjoyed hurting kevin”), he was making sure neil knew he was inferior by putting him in direct contact with the roles kevin and jean played in the nest, using him as a substitute for the one that got away. neil gets a speedrun of some of the worst moments of kevin’s life, and he gets not a single breathing moment for it before he has to be shoved back into exy, like kevin was
i wouldn’t dare presume nora sakavic’s intentions on anything at this point, but i like the idea that neil’s stay at evermore was supposed to tell us all we needed to know about kevin’s time there, without kevin ever having to actually recount the years (he wouldn’t, even if he could): that it was horrifying, and that being in his shoes will never be as glamorous as neil previously thought. i like the breaking of neil’s expectations for kevin; i like how it makes neil realize the life kevin led was not better. and that’s the point, isn’t it? when neil is lying in kevin’s bed, handcuffed to kevin’s headboard, his legs pinned under kevin’s only friend, getting hurt by kevin’s brother, that’s what neil realizes: this is not better. it might be different than life on the run, but it is not better.
oh my gosh i bought a sandwich in public today this is so embarrassing they saw me buy a sandwich they are all laughing at me i just know it, they're gonna call their friends about the idiot with a sandwich today jesus fucking christ they all know i eat like most humans do fuck that was so bad i cant believe i bought a sandwich like everyone else in line

(via Everything You Never Wanted to Know About the Lobotomy)
Walter Freeman, the P.T. Barnum of the lobotomy, pioneered the transorbital lobotomy, a simplified procedure that didn’t even require an operating room; he eschewed the formality and sterility of operating rooms, and would just lobotomize patients anywhere. In fact, it’s so efficient, Freeman could finish a lobotomy in under 10 minutes. Fun fact: Freeman had no formal surgical training.
These instructions are taken from Walter Freeman’s Psychosurgery by way of Jack El-Hai’s excellent biography The Lobotomist. If you were to follow them, you would be guilty of multiple crimes and someone would probably die.
The supplies needed
An icepick
A small hammer
An electroconvulsive therapy machine
The procedure
To perform a lobotomy, Freeman would:
Sterilize his icepick. Usually. Sometimes he didn’t bother.
Administer shocks of high-enough voltage to induce unconsciousness with an electroconvulsive therapy machine. Sometimes Freeman did it with no anesthesia, however.
Slide the icepick beneath the victim’s upper eyelid, next to the tear duct, keeping the shaft parallel to the bony ridge of the nose and aimed slightly away from the center of the head.
The tip of the icepick would now be resting against the thinnest portion of the skull. Freeman would give a light tap with a hammer to break through the bone.
Now he would be able to easily push the icepick into the brain. Freeman advised going 5cm deep. Not too deep, or the “patient” would probably die.
Pull the handle of the icepick “as far laterally as the rim of the orbit will permit.” This should sever the fibers at the base of the frontal lobe. Hopefully.
According to Freeman, this step is the “ticklish part” because arteries are in reach. He would return the instrument to its previous position and drive it further to a depth of 7cm from the margin of the upper eyelid. Then move the ice pick 15 to 20 degrees medially and about 30 degrees laterally. If this was done wrong, the person would die. If done correctly, they’d only maybe die.
Withdraw the icepick with a twisting motion while applying pressure on the eyelid to prevent hemorrhage.
Resterilize the icepick.
Repeat with the other eye. A true showman, Freeman would sometimes do both sides at once.
The lobotomy is now complete!
this is HORRIFYING
The project 2025 thing is very real. Make sure that this doesn’t happen with all your might. It doesn’t matter if it doesn’t affect you, it will. Read the rest of the poem. It doesn’t matter because you will be affected in some way, at some point. If that isn’t enough to convince you, maybe some empathy will? Feel some empathy for trans and queer youth who can’t get out. If it does happen be prepared to run or fight the fight you should have fought earlier. I promise you, fighting now is much easier than fighting then.

If zombies were real, you wouldn't first be warned by the approaching horde by their smell, by their groans, not even a cloud of smoke of the dust they raise coming closer from the horizon. It would be the flies. Hordes and hordes of insects, corpse-flies laying eggs on the carcasses of people who still walk, eating the eyeballs from their sockets, climbing across their unfeeling leathery skin. And the buzzing. The inescapable, deafening buzzing. Everywhere. Like you did not just kick a hornet's nest, but the very ground you walk on was a hornet nest, and each step caused another explosion of insects.
Insects, corpse flies, the buzzing. Their swarms blacken the skies, more horrifying than their migrating meals. The deafening cacophony of constant buzzing, the horrid noise of the living who feast on the dead who feast on the living. The buzzing.
The endless, inescapable buzzing.

May these IOF soldiers burn in the fiery embers of hell for an eternity if they aren't already. There cannot be anything else but this for ALL of them right now to repeatedly suffer an unbearable weight of pain that never ends -I cannot accept anything but their entire sadistic, pathetic, violent existences to end up in the pits of despair where they wished they never committed atrocities.
I hope these young girls and children are resting safely in peace -because this is just beyond heartbreaking.
horrifying Tenkai headcanon:
speaking of where corebricks come from, does anyone assume that since the corekai and the original knights are just robots life forms from another planet that when the original knights -eons before guren’s dad became one- that the reason that they disappeared during battle as in the scene of the first episode was that they actually died and their corebricks were transported by the guardians to safety. But with the knights dead the Guardians knew the planet was going to be in trouble and decided to get people from anothr planet -obviously who- to man the bodies and fight for quarton when no other option was apperant and possibly because nobody would notices...
WHICH MEANS THAT BOYS AND BENI ARE MANNING DEAD BODIES OF CORKAI!
I know, and if they actually have that as a plot element in tenkai knights -if they ever make a second season for it- I would not be shocked but definitely horrified and really questioning the Guardian’ s moral ethics to this whole shicht.

I feel sick. I'm so scared. Things are going to get so much worse for trans adults in the UK when the Levy review for adult trans care comes out in November. My GP clinic already tried to not prescribe my T when the gender clinic endocrinologist first recommended it, I had to fight them so hard on it, and I'm terrified at any point they will stop.
Please share this. It is so disheartening that when I make posts about US trans issues they have thousands of notes within a couple hours, but UK trans issues barely get 100 notes. Our struggles are linked. The letter, in fact, uses the American spelling of certain words like 'realize' - Which has made some suspicious that this is a form letter provided by the American anti trans hate groups that have been pushing for more transphobic discrimination in the UK lately.
This WILL affect trans people in the US eventually. They will use the UK as an example to follow, when they are (at least partially) the ones who created the conditions for our growing medical discrimination. Our fight is your fight. Please, please care about it. Help people be aware of this at the very least.
eventually the day will come where newer, younger homestuck fans don't actually know why we call the animations in homestuck "flashes."
just let that sink in.
