I really like this version of hades they've gone with in the pjo show
this is a guy who's chilling, he's content in his solitude, he knows that his wife will be home in a matter of weeks
and not only that but the second percy figures it out, he immediately offers sanctuary
I like to see a hades that doesn't stick with the dark, brooding and depressed idea we have of him because this is a man who has been able to remove himself from the toxicity of his family is is clearly all the more happier for it
Hades came, he served absolute looks, he blackmailed his nephew, he grossly misjudged the situation, his daddy issues got triggered, he did a complete 180 by deciding yes actually he is going to steal his brother's shit, that backfired, and now arguably he's more confused than he was before Percy broke into his castle.
And that's Nico and Bianca's DAD.
In Thracian mythology, Otrera was daughter of Thracian prince - Itil (Itis in Greek versions) and the Thraco-greek god of East wind and sea storms - Eurus. There also myths that her father had a relationship (a.k.a. was lover) with Hades. Imagine Nico hears his father has relationship with the father of the woman who tried to kill his friends and sister.
The fact that there is no gay hades or bi hades tag makes me so sad. Let me fix this issue

Hecate Cabin Headcanons
They each have their own separate room in their cabin. If they can magic up a new room, why shouldn’t they?
They have such a large variety of powers and traits that they almost always get mistaken for children of other gods before they get claimed. Aphrodite, Demeter, Hypnos, Apollo, Iris, even Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades before the oath.
Their fatal flaw tends to be cynicism or hubris.
Their knee jerk reaction to being caught doing something they shouldn’t is to assume that they’ll be burnt at the stake or hanged, or any type of execution used in the Salem witch trials. It never happens.
They like ancient history a little too much and will talk about it with the Athena cabin for hours.
They work with the Hephaestus kids, enchanting anything they make.
They're best friends with children of Demeter, as Hecate helped Demeter look for Persephone after she was kidnapped by Hades.
They like to sneak out of camp purely to let their rage out on fake witches and fortune tellers.
There are very few children of Hecate, but they're single-handedly some of the most powerful demigods. They can essentially learn any type of magic and have complete control over the mist.
They never liked the Harry Potter series or J. K. Rowling's idea of magic. They call it heresy and blasphemy.
Hecate passes down bright emerald green or purple eyes, hair that grows very slow, and a quick metabolism. They welcome Hazel Levesque as one of their own siblings, but a few kinda dislike her for being their mother's favorite.

Hades cabin Headcanons
They’re in charge of the cemetery at camp. They bury all the dead and keep everything worthy of the dead heroes.
Because of this, they get along surprisingly well with the Demeter cabin. The Demeter kids supply the flowers for the cemetery.
The children of Hades do tend to hold grudges, cough Nico cough, but their most common fatal flaw is recklessness. They do things that could kill them all the time. Death calls out to them.
They’re already bordering on death at all times. They can will themselves to shrivel up and die, returning to their father’s realm, their home. However they can also return from their self inflicted death.
They can temporarily push their souls to the underworld, avoiding death. They wait for their “dead” body to be put into a morgue or a hospital and patched up, then they return to it, effectively reviving themselves. That’s why there’s so many children of Hades who’ve survived for hundreds of years.
Their mortal parents are beloved by Hades. They’re always offered a grand afterlife. Children of Hades can visit the ones that accepted.
They can suck the life out of anything living, killing it or shortening its lifespan. They can store this energy and use it to heal themselves or expand their own natural life span. They can also use it on other’s, keeping them alive and unharmed.
They’re great friends with the Hypnos cabin, as they both dabble in astral projection. Messing with people when you can’t be caught because you’re asleep? Fuck yeah
Animals are scared of them. They can sense death on children of Hades.
The Hades cabin hosts sleepovers for all the children of underworld gods. (Hypnos, Thanatos, Eris, Geras, Momus, Moros, Nemesis, Apate, Oizys, Philotes, Persephone, Hecate, Nyx, etc.)
Because they know death so well, they cherish life more than anyone else. They’d die for a stranger. They’d die for a friend. But never for an enemy. They value the lives of other’s more than their own.
could you possibly write like, nico but he now has a younger sister whoes a lot like leo and percy combined??

Nico would be bothered by having a sister that behaves so much like the guy he's liked for years. A constant reminder of the guy who could never like him.
Regardless, he would try to be good to her. He would never want her to feel abandoned, as he did so often.
He would try to teach her to survive on her own, to not need him. Everything could work out for both of them, right?
It does, until she starts intentionally having problems so he has no choice but to help her.
He starts to feel bad once he realizes what she's doing. Then it hits him. She could never be Bianca. But he could be her Bianca.
He'd teach her to shadow travel. He'd take her down to the underworld for family dinner.
He would make sure that Hades and Persephone were nice to her. He knew that she could absolutely handle them because she just couldn't give a shit about the gods, but he'd do it to take another thing off of her plate. The less she worries, the less he worries about her.
When she finds out that Nico liked Percy, she laughs at him. Definitely making fun of him for his taste.
Once Nico gets over Percy and gets with Will, she is a nuisance in the Apollo cabin. They're her new siblings.
She screams every time she enters the Hades cabin, announcing her presence. She walked in on Nico and Will making out one time and now she refuses to let them forget it.
He pretends to be annoyed by her, but really he finds her endearing. He even laughs at her jokes on occasion. Then she'll jump up and down, making sure everyone knows that she made Nico Di Angelo laugh.
He'll swat at her jokingly, but making sure not to actually hit her, not even lightly. He was born in the 30's. His mother definitely taught him to never raise his hand against a woman. He probably doesn't swear in her presence either.
She'd joke about all the terrible things that have happened to her. Though in the middle of the night, she'd wake up screaming from a nightmare. Nico would stay up all night with her, sitting in silence so she knows that she's safe. He wouldn't want to talk about it, but he would be there no matter what.
She'd act so mad at him when he goes to Tartarus both times. Slightly scared that he wouldn't come back, slightly upset that he didn't invite her. Very impressed that he survived Tartarus twice. She absolutely threatens to throw herself in to prove that she's just as strong as him.
"Do not. Our father will catch you before you even get to the underworld."
"Nah, he won't. If you could sneak past him, so can I."
"He let me through."
"So you admit that you couldn't have gotten past him?"
"That is not what I said."
She laughs, "Awh, little baby Nico can't get past his daddy!"
"I will send you down there permanently."
"You wouldn't. You love me"
Chthonic Gods' Cabins Headcanons
Children of Hades, Persephone, Nyx, Hypnos, Nemesis, Hecate, Thanatos, Eris, Geras, Selene, etc. Any God that lives in the underworld or is a child of God that lives in the underworld.
They refer to themselves as Hellspawn endearingly.
They are so much more loyal to each other than to children of other Gods. They're all united by the underworld.
They have sleepover in the Hades Cabin. Chiron doesn't know, and he wouldn't allow it if he did. The Hecate Cabin masks their presence so others can see, hear, or sense them.
They treat children of Hades like royalty. They're all the pretty princesses of the underworld. They put a pink, fuzzy crown on Nico one time. He didn't particularly enjoy it, but he didn't stop them.
They make homemade candles and hold rituals in cemeteries and abandoned playgrounds.
They always make sure Hazel is welcome at camp. She is a queen. She can't be uncomfortable or unhappy at camp half blood.
They held a grand funeral for Bianca. She has a beautiful burial plot. Fresh flowers every week.
Sometimes they go frolicking through the underworld, holding hands and skipping. Purely for the irony.
They kind of consider Will one of them? They're a bit iffy about him because he's a son of Apollo, the sun god, but they appreciate how happy he makes Nico.
The underworld children that can summon spirits (Mostly Hades children. Children of Hypnos can make dead people appear in dreams. Few children of Nemesis can control vengeful spirits. Few children of Ares can call upon dead soldiers who lost their war. Thanatos children.) will gossip about the spirits they spoke to. They'll also work together to try to summon a lost friend or family member, to give one of them some form of closure.
The Hades cabin leads their little clique. Planning outings and meetings.
The Hypnos cabin regulates their dreams, making sure everyone sleeps relatively okay. They keep their dreams not terrible for the most part.
Children of Selene will use their powers to radiate moonlight, effectively making other children of the underworld slightly more powerful.
Children of Nemesis act as their regulators, their judges. If someone wronged one of them, the entire Nemesis cabin will get revenge for them.
Children of Nyx are their guards. All they have to do is look at someone, and they'll think a million times before they even interact with one of them.
Children of Persephone will grow flowers and fruit for them. They keep their lives bright and meaningful. A symbol of peace, even if only in short periods.
Children of Hecate will enchant anything for them. Magical weapons mean more security. And Tarot readings. A small glimpse into the future will calm them down so much.
Children of Geras will give them wisdom. Old age comes with experience. And experience leads to knowledge. An excellent guide for young, inexperienced demigods.
Children of Eris will remind everyone of what someone has done. Never forgetting someone's blatant wrongdoings. They warn everyone when they hear about something someone has done, trying to keep them out of trouble.
i think a lot of people (especially those who haven’t read the books) are underestimating Hades
yes, he presents as the sassy queer uncle who’s done with his family’s drama, but he’s not “just some guy”
when his Helm is stolen, no one knows about it. he uses his own resources and orchestrates a plan to bring Percy to the underworld alive, all while managing an entire freaking kingdom
he doesn’t threaten war because he doesn’t have to and he knows it. unlike Zeus, he keeps a level head and thinks about the situation logically
think about Percy’s priorities throughout the show, look at what the flashbacks are teaching us about him and his relationship with others. think logically. this is a 12 year old kid who grew up with a single mom and no friends
his priority is his mom, it’s always been his mom and Hades knows that. Percy’s worst fear is losing his mother and Hades uses that against him
he takes Sally before Poseidon claims Percy because he has eyes everywhere. he already knew who Percy was and he already had a plan formed before Percy even set foot in camp
when he greets Percy and Grover he isn’t surprised, relieved, or agitated because he planned this. he knew that Percy would come to him whether by force or by his own choice (for my book readers, think about this in comparison to how Zeus reacts to the situation. Zeus comes off as desperate and angry, whereas Hades is at ease. annoyed, sure, but never panicked)
when he offers them pomegranate juice it’s in the guise of politeness and humour but it has an underlying meaning. Percy knows the stories about Hades and Hades knows that he knows. the pomegranate juice is a reminder, it’s Hades demonstrating his power without outright threatening Percy. it’s him going “I can make something as small as a pomegranate seed into a weapon” it’s him asserting his dominance and control over the situation
he leads them to a seating area clearly made for their arrival. another reminder that he knew they were coming and Sally stands, frozen in the middle of it as a reminder of what they have to lose
when he learns that it’s Kronos behind the robberies he immediately offers sanctuary to Percy, Grover, and his mom. Kronos, the king of titans, the father of all Gods, and a being who could once tear the world in two with the snap of his fingers, wants Percy, and Hades offers to protect him because he’s that powerful
so yes, Hades makes dad jokes and he talks in a way you wouldn’t expect an all-powerful being to talk, but he isn’t “just some guy”
he’s powerful, he knows it, and he shows just enough of that power to absolutely terrify Percy

In The Last Olympian , when Hades calls Persephone "My Dove" (Or something like that) Nico didn't go the vomiting sounds mood? He didn't gave them Side-eye? He didn't go "Dad ewwww it's gross"?
JUST İMAGİNE NİCO SAYİNG THAT TO HADES.

Why Zeus Forbids Interactions between Demigods and their Godly Parents Theory.
What if one of the reasons Zeus doesn't want his family to interact with their offspring is because he's afraid they'd all become powerful enough to overthrow him?
For instance, when the kids interact with their parents more they find that they have more demigod powers than they once thought they had. Percy gets progressively stronger as he and Poseidon work on their relationship. Same with Nico and Hades.
Ares also seems to recognize this and gifts his kids weapons and resources that give them more strength and tactical advantages. Even though he's not a great parent to Clarisse; he's heavily involved with his kids when it comes to war.
Athena uses this strategy too with her own kids but also reminds them of the drawbacks that can come with certain powers like with Annabeth's cap.
Demeter may not get involved with her kids because she doesn't want to risk getting too attached and she knows by being more connected to them they get very strong. Persephone was sometimes feared more than Hades in Greek worship and mythology.
It also helps the parents. The stronger the belief and connection in them; the more powerful the god gets. We see this with Poseidon in TLO and Apollo in TOA. Just some thoughts.
I don't understand how there are so many fics for the sea fam but you can scarcely find one for Hades and Nico. Hades who would let nothing happen to his wife, dog, or mother in law/sister. Hades who was the most level-headed in the myths. Hades who offered his nephew and his mother sanctuary from his own father the Titan lord the moment the king of the underworld found out he was rising again.
Hades deserves to be a good dad, and not just seen as a villain all over again
Thalia: "I would never touch Zeus's throne, he would kill me before recognizing me"
Percy: "Once I sat on my father's throne, it was dangerous but it was an urgent situation"
Nico, casually lying on Hades' throne while eating a pomegranate: "hi pops"
