We Both Start Over (Gunther/Nerr drabbles)
“Hugs” – Physical affection had been banned for the inhabitants of the Northern Citadel for several years now. Though in truth, that rule was only really enforced when it came to members of the opposite sex. No kisses on the cheek (or elsewhere...), no holding hands, certainly no being alone together... and definitely no hugging. It was not a decree that came from King Garon, or even Prince Xander. Gunther had instituted it himself and was it's firmest advocator. It wasn't that he was a cold man who found the concept of affection abhorrent (given his past, he'd be a hypocrite of the highest order to do so). No, it was simply a result of circumstance... the circumstance of an overly affectionate lady liege who had been blissfully unaware of the changes in her blossoming body. Gunther had noticed, and unfortunately, so did Jakob. Bad enough a hormone addled teenage boy lived with a quickly maturing young girl, but he would be damned if he let them be alone together. It only took a moment of weakness to lead to a lifetime of regret, after all. He had set up that rule simply because the young steward could not be trusted... was what he told himself. Not because he had felt his mistress's newly budding breasts press against him and in that moment, had a dozen suggestive thoughts run through his own mind. He was nearing sixty- he wasn't some lovesick swain who couldn't control his baser instincts. That was a very chivalrous thought, one he would've believed had he not currently found his face pressed against two now very mature breasts, sinewy arms wrapped around his head and shoulders in an iron embrace, keeping him there. “Nerr, I--” “Shhhh... just let me hold you for a bit.” She wore no armor, just a thin linen shirt, and he could feel the warmth radiating from her. “This is untoward.” He hissed, cringing mentally as his voice cracked slightly. No one was supposed to know they were betrothed; there would severe repercussions for them both should Princess Camilla or Prince Xander find out, and yet Nerr had tricked him into bending down, acting as though she wished to tell him something not meant for eavesdropping ears, and promptly captured him in her grasp. Gunther could feel his back growng stiff. He wasn't accustomed to remaining doubled over for so long. “Nerr--” “Just a little longer.” The veteran knight had no choice but to comply with her wishes. He could struggle, to be sure, perhaps even pull himself free, but there were times when Nerr's draconic instinct seemed to take over, and that was what stayed his hand. The last time he had tried to pull away as she “embraced” him, her grip had tightened so much that he had been left with bruises. She didn't even seem to realize that she had hurt him, which was the most worrying thing. Feral wyverns often did the same thing to their prey, clamping down further with each struggle until their quarry could no longer draw breath. Gunther trusted his fiancée was not secretly planning to eat him, but in the back of his mind, he couldn't be sure. Sighing, his breath causing the thin cloth of her blouse to flutter slightly, he asked the only question she would allow him to finish. “Why?” At once, she withdrew, her absence coming so suddenly, he nearly tipped over without her there as a support. Her expression was that of a guileless child, all wide eyes and parted lips, as though she hadn't nearly smothered him just now. “To make up for lost time, of course. I have five years worth of hugs pent up inside of me. They need an outlet.” The older man felt a smile tug at the corners of his lips. Straightening, he reached out, pulling her close to his own chest. There was no need for her to stoop, as that was exactly where her head came to, and he reveled in the soft warmth pressed against him. “Gunther? What are you--” “Shhh. We'll get through them twice as quickly like this.” 000000000000 A/N- She learned it from Camilla, of course. So, in "The Road Not Trekked", the story Nerr comes from, the only inhabitants of the Northern Citadel are her and her core servants (Gunther, Jakob, Flora and Felicia, and Lilith, in order of arriving). There's no other staff, no one else living there at all. There USED to be, but they all left shortly after Jakob arrived, and it's safe to say Gunther's responsible for that. For six years, the three of them lived alone (much to Camilla's chagrin), until Nerr turned 11 and started going through puberty, at which point Gunther promptly told Jakob he was never allowed to be alone with her again and went to Garon to request female servants for his liege, which is why Flora and Felicia were sent to the boonies, as opposed to staying in Krakenburg, which is better protected and in closer sight of the king. Despite knowing a great deal about physiology and the reproductive process, Nerr is very much clueless that people might view her any way but platonically, and as such, has no real understanding why jumping on sexually frustrated men and rubbing her boobs on them might be awkward for them. Seriously, she could be walking around butt nekkid and see Jakob pop a boner, and the thought that it's because of *her* would never cross her mind. "Oh, goodness. Do you have to pee, Jakob? I've read that a full bladder can cause an erection." "N-no, milady, that's definitely not why..." "Hmm. Well, sometimes they just happen for no reason. Penises are weird. *casually walks away, still naked*"
This is something that just bothers me: why do people think Gunther had darker hair when he was younger? Seriously, almost any time you see fanart or a sprite edit of young!Gunther, his hair is dark purple, if not just black. This is a public service announcement- GUNTHER'S HAIR IS NOT GRAY. His hair is a very pale lilac, a little lighter than Camilla's own hair color. And it didn't get lighter due to age, it's always been that color. That's not my head canon, it's game canon. When Kanna is fathered by Gunther, guess what? His hair is that exact shade of pale lilac. It's not dark purple, it sure as hell isn't black, which means that lilac is hereditary and is Gunther's natural hair color. For the same reason, Fuuga!Kanna's hair is russet despite Fuuga being bald, and Shura!Kanna's hair is white, despite that black patch Shura has. It just... it bothers me so much to see people trying to make him look EVEN YOUNGER, because light or graying hair is generally seen as a sign of old age (never mind that lots of people start getting gray hairs in their 20's...) and oldness is bad. It's not kawaii. Get rid of his wrinkles all you want, but don't dye his hair unless you dye Camilla's hair too, since lilac is such an unappealing color. I mean, if you wanna make someone look younger, start with Jakob: he LITERALLY has gray hair.

"How would you like your hair, my little ladyship?" "Ummm... pretty!" "Heh heh... Very well. I will try my hardest to make it 'pretty'..." Gunther had two younger sisters growing up, and with their mother constantly working to support a family of four on her own, things like doing their hair fell to him. Of course, as a ten year old boy with no practice in such matters, the most he could do was ponytails and simple braids, but they appreciated his efforts nonetheless. Fast forward forty years, and he still never bothered to expand his styling repetoir, but Nerr and Jakob didn't mind. My point? Nerr and (to a lesser extent) Jakob are very sentimental and still wear their hair the way Gunther used to do it for them as children. Of course, Jakob would die before admiting that, and even Nerr tends to be a bit evasive when it comes to explaining why she doesn't want to try new styles.

“Greetings. I am Sir Gunther, a knight of Nohr– what’s that? I don’t LOOK like a knight? You need to learn appearances can be decieving.”
FINALLY!! Finished coloring dancer!Gunther. I would put him in a banner with RD!Nerr, a blue physical unit to balance her green magic (I plan on doing an RD!Shura too), which is why he has the peacock feathers to match hers. I wish more than anything that I had a god damn scanner because my phone’s camera is shit.

“A knight needs to be flexible to wear 110 pounds of armor without injuring themself. I’m just more fexible than most.”
“The scars? Pay them no mind. They don’t hinder me in battle.”
Even though Gunther is sexy and could dance in a way that would make Niles and Leon faint from all the blood rushing from their heads, he wouldn’t be doing a sexy, stipperific dance. THIS is how he wpuld dance: https://youtu.be/NuAkcsOQ1pA
Headcanon- Corrin and Kanna can sing Lost in Thoughts All Alone and use the same waterbending powers as Azura and Shigure, better, in fact, with less severe consequences. My reasoning? In Hidden Thruths 2, Anankos says, and I quote, "However... Only those with the same ancient blood could unlock the song's power." Now, he means the same blood as Cadros, the first king of Valla, right? But Cadros' blood is nothing. The game says that the ancient dragons chose the human generals who led their armies to rule, and gave them their blood (dragon's blood) as tangible proof of their right to rule. Cadros must have just been a soldier until Anankos gave him his own blood, which imbued him with the power to use the spell Anankos created. Corrin has that "same ancient blood" flowing through their veins directly, what with Anankos directly being their father. Think about how diluted Anankos' blood is in Shigure, and tell me Kanna, the direct grandchild of said god tier being, doesn't have a better propensity for revitalizing people by singing? Now, I'm not saying they could sing the 4th verse without dying, but they could probably sing the rest of the song twice without dying, considering the draconic blood in them is so strong they can turn into dragons. As a human, a human who's weak enough to get killed by his own curses, Anankos can give life to barren wastelands, eternal youth, or perpetual continuation of one's bloodline. I think his kid has the stamina to cast a spell twice.

Queen Nerr of Nohr, The Conquering Monarch and her late husband, Prince-Consort Gunther, The Shadow of Death A head canon where events play out as they do in Conquest, but Xander (and possibly Elise) die as they do in Birthright. Camilla still abdicates the throne, having never had much of a head for politics, but as Nerr is the third in the line of succession (Garon both formally legitimized her), she becomes the new ruler, rather than Leo, who instead becomes one of her advisors, taking over as her chief advisor when her husband died. Nerr is incredibly adept at political affairs, having both a shrewd intellect and a natural charisma. She has many allies, not just throughout the many duchies of Nohr, but also throughout Hoshido, namely Moukushuu, Kouga, Izumo and Kazeho. Having personal ties to so many political leaders, as well as having been well versed in negotiation since she was very young (her natural aptitude for manipulating people into giving her what she wants was one of the few things Garon nurtured in her) results in her quite easily brokering deals to the benefit of her queendom. Even Leo admits that she’s much better suited to be in a position of power than him. She’s well loved by the common folk because she overtly places a precedence on their well being above the wealthier castes. Feelings are mixed amongst the nobility. A few nobles recognize that she’s a young girl trying to fix a kingdom that’s been on the brink of collapse for almost a century, but most aristocrats simply disdain this Hoshidan whore and her peasant husband for daring to try and uproot their way of life. There have been several assassination attempts on her life, but alas, assassins creeping on her are old hat for the Dark Blood Princess. Despite the love she holds for her subjects, she is a cold woman, unnerving people with her often vacant stare and flat affect. She’s well known for publicly, and personally, executing those involved in attempted coups. She has become much crueler since the passing of her husband, formerly Sir Gunther, five years after she ascended the throne. A rumor has passed through the staff of Castle Krakenburg that she was involved in murdering him directly, several sources stating that she could be heard speaking to a third person in their quarters the day he passed, though the identity of this third party remains a mystery. Those close to her know this is nonsense as she put the wellbeing of her former retainer above all else, including her queendom and family. Her mental state seems to have severely degraded since his death. They express concern for her as she is often found staring at fountains and ponds, stating he speaks to her through the water, and “he’ll return alive” when she finds “Aum”.
We Both Start Over (Gunther/Nerr drabbles)
“A Chance Meeting” Though Castle Krakenburg was now her home, Nerr often found herself longing for the Northern Citadel. It was a delapidated prison in a barren wasteland, as she was often reminded, but it always would always be her real home in her heart. Often times, when there was no work to do, no levee to attend or meeting to schedule, she would simply walk the desolate path leading away from the capital and into the mountains. Telling anyone where she was going would only cause them to try and talk her out if it, for it seemed her entire family was hellbent on ensuring she forgot that part of her life. But it was a part she clung to, even knowing what a sorry lie it had been. When Gunther found out where she was going those long hours she could not be found, he surprised her by not admonishing her as she had assumed he might, but rather, inisting he accompany her. She had no complaints, and in fact welcomed his presence, but he had made it known in the past that he had no love for the drafty fortress. It always was, and always would be, in his mind, a prison. Some days, they simply walked the sprawling corridors, pointing out little nooks and crannies where memories had been made over the years. One day, however, their impromptu tour headed lower, into the ancient cellars. Nerr shuddered as she stepped into the deep caverns, the air stagnant and heavy with mildew and decay. She had not been this far down in years, not since she was a small child, a Hoshidan prisoner of war rather than a Nohrian princess. The thought gave her pause. Though the winding tunnels had been abandoned for so long, the enchanted torches that lined the walls still burned strongly, casting a violet hue over the walls. Gunther was still walking, heading deeper into the catacombs, and Nerr quickly ran to join him, her skin crawling at the thought of being left alone there even for a moment. For a time, they walked in silence, the only sound that of their steps on the mildew slicked stone. “...where are we going, Gunther?” She asked quietly after a while. Her husband did not respond, the heavy shadows making his face appear harsher than it normally did. His gait was purposeful, almost angry, hers a meek tip toe in comparison. Suddenly, he stopped in front of a heavy iron door, it's massive hinges caked in rust. “...Gunther...?” “This was your cell.” He said, his voice cold, monotonous. As Nerr glanced back at the door, her stomach seemed to twist and turn under her ribs. The old knight either did not notice her discomfort, or else, did not care as he continued speaking, each word harsher than the last. “The only reason King Garon sent me here was because he knew I followed orders, no matter how cruel. I'd kill anyone, anywhere. Children, animals, old people; it didn't matter.” He turned to face her, the flickering light of the violet flames dancing across his face reminding her suddenly of the demon that murdered her mother. “I'd have killed you without a second thought.” The princess swallowed hard, trying to wet her parched mouth. “...then why didn't you?” Something seemed to crack in Gunther's expression, that hard mask quickly devolving into abject misery. “... ...I don't know. I've asked myself that so many times, and the truth is that I simply do not know. I'd never disobeyed an order before I met you.” Nerr closed her eyes, inhaling deeply, the stench of the catacombs bringing unwanted memories to the surface of her mind. “...well, I'm grateful you met me when you did, my love.” “Why is that?” “Because if we had met now rather than then, I would probably have killed you first.” The silence between them grew heavier, broken only by the dripping of water and the occasional crackle of the torches. How much had changed since that first encounter... 000000000000 A/N- So, if you haven't read, “The Rising Dark”, Nerr kind of has a strict, “Kill them before they kill me” policy in place after the first attempt on her life. There's no doubt in my mind that if Gunther approached her with a whip these days (and not for kinky purposes), she'd dismember him and have him buried in a shallow grave before she even realized what she was doing.

"Oh. Oh, damn, I think he's mauling you, Nerr..." "I KNOW! ISN'T IT THE CUTEST THING EVER?!" "Uh, I see blood-- Daaaaaw!!! He fell over! Somebody's a sleepy baby~♡" So, @news14-arts and I now have a head canon that baby Kanna sporadically turns into a dragon but doesn't realize it. And that would be worrisome, especially to Nerr, but who can think about their child turning feral when he bloomps over to you and starts chewing on your feet. Of course, his mandible is essentially a bear trap, but Nerr heals fast. Also, the little antenae-dodads the dragons have act like a dog's tail. Kanna is very happy to be the center of his parents' attention.
Here’s some mildly NSFW-ish Gunnerr doodles. I say mildly because they denote sexual activities, but there’s nothing exactly “sexual” visible, not even boobs.

I did these partially for anatomical/sketching practice, partially because it’s just fun. Cunther takes eating out much more seriously than he does blow jobs.
“Do you HAVE to train while we’re doing this?”
“I think you’ve known me long enough by now to know that the answer to that is obviously YES.”
“Should– should I be training too?”
“No, darling. You just lie back and relax. You deserve a break.”
“But… YOU don’t?”
“It’s called multitasking, Nerr.”
For as serious as he is in the public eye, behind closed doors, Gunther’s just a big, silly dork.
We Both Start Over (Gunther/Nerr drabbles)
“Scream” – The sound woke her up, reverberating inside her skull and confusing her in her semi-conscious state. Struggling to untangle herself from her covers, Nerr didn't even bother pushing the tangled hair from her face as she reached under her pillow, grabbing the handle of the long knife that resided there. Though her Yato remained ever at her side, it was too long and unwieldy for close, sudden combat. Eyes still glued shut with sleep, she whipped her head to and fro, trying to get a sense of where the danger was. She could hear no signs of a struggle, could smell no blood... It took a moment to realize that it had been a hoarse cry that roused her, an even longer moment to realize exactly where it had come from. Lowering her weapon ever so slightly, the princess turned to face the other occupant of her bed. Gunther lay there, stock still, eyes wide, a rictus grimace of fear frozen on his face. He clutched the comforter so tightly she could see his knuckles turning stark white even as his hands shook slightly. With her own pulse no longer thundering in her ears, she could hear his breathing, short, almost pained gasps. Sighing deeply, the princess returned the knife back under her pillow and slowly laid back down, resting her head as slowly and carefully onto her husband's chest as she could. She could feel the thrumming of his pulse against her skin. “What happened, Gunther?” She asked quietly. There was no corporeal danger at the moment, but she knew full well that did not make his fear any less real. It was always a hit or miss whether or not he would confide in her. Sometimes, he began speaking right away, his voice tight with fear, with pain, with tears, as he slowly recounted whatever horrid memory plagued his dreams at the moment. Other times, they simply lapsed into silence and eventually fell asleep once more. She had given him the chance to say what was on his mind; that was all she could do for him now. 000000000000 A/N- Short chapter, but I felt that less was more in this case.

An in-progress pic of the cover illustration for "The Falling Light", the Birthright branch of my FE: Fates fic, "The Road Not Trekked". The top picture is for the completed Conquest branch, "The Rising Dark". It started just as sparse as the bottom version, so I look at it to remind myself that it WILL look better if I keep working on it.
...looks about right.

I’m sorry for making this.

“Their motive is always the same: vengeance. Onryō are easily powerful enough to swiftly kill any person; however, they prefer letting the object of their hatred live a long life of torment and suffering, watching those he knows suffer and die.”
A ghostly Gunther that ties into the Birthright branch of my Fates novella– *checks word count* …novel. Unlike in the game itself, where there is speculation that he might still be alive, in The Falling Light, he is beyond doubt very dead. And since none of my readers come here, I don’t have to pretend I’m spoiling anything when I say that Anankos takes control of his decomposing corpse to speak to Nerr in Gunther’s voice in an effort to drive her crazy/to suicide/to Valla. Needless to say, he succeeds.
Y'know what? I’m calling this an Inktober piece, because I didn’t let a pencil near this paper. Everything, even the sketch, was done in ink. There. I can finally say I did one.
You gon' need somethin' stronger than that, gurl. I think Flora looks plenty pissed. And I love the background, mostly because they are the bane of my existance...

This was done based on a drawing meme, but I cannot find the link to the original anymore! If someone knows the link, please tell me so I can credit properly…
Here’s the original, which IS NOT DONE BY ME

I tried to draw Flora look really pissed off, but she doesn’t look annoyed enough :D I’m sorry she has to suffer so my OTP can be happy… A bit xD

Another pen sketch, so I can say I did TWO things for Inktober. Yay me!! I don't really pay attention to anime anymore, but I have completely fallen in love with A Centaur's Life. So of course I started thinking of Fates characters as hexapedal races. My current headcanon is that cavaliers are centaurs, fliers are draconid/angelfolk, depending on where they hail from (Nohrians are imps, Hoshidans are angels), and everyone else is a catperson or faun. Vallites are merfolk (and Nerr is half mer, half Antartican, hence the scales on her face and tail). Nerr totally rides Gunther like a mount, but only when his hands are full because he prefers carrying her.

"I don't want any of you brats thinking this is going to be an everyday occurance. Just because Lady Nerr sits on my shoulders doesn't mean you can."
"Whatever, old man. This is the only thing you're good for."
Still obsessing over my hexapedal Fates AU. I revamped Guntaur a bit because I want him to be more like a clydesdale (totally not because I want him to tower over Xander or anything...). Given his surface area, he's very warm, making for a very comfortable seat, especially in the winter. Nerr has no legs, and has difficulty manuevering in the snow, but the other children have no excuse, especially not Flora and Felicia.
One day I'll care enough about the other characters to draw them too.
Well, Xander was LITERALLY about to kill Corrin. He beat them within an inch of their life and was going in for a killing blow. It's highly unlikely that Elise just shouting "Stop!!" would've had any effect given how adamant he was. She's still just a troubador in Birthright, and it didn't even seem like she was carrying a staff, so how else would she have stopped him? Jumped on his back? He'd probably just knock her off and get right back to it.
Ryouma and Azura were standing a few feet away, idly watching someone they supposedly care about get slaughtered. What Elise essentially did was push someone out of the way of the way of a car and get hit herself. And I can even see it as "wasting her life" if it had been for a stranger, but her most beloved sibling? That's like saying a parent "wastes their life" if they die in the process of saving their child.
Regardless of "technically an adult", Elise is very young. A person's brain doesn't finish developing, particularly the part of the brain understands consequences, until you're in your mid 20's (which is why children and teenagers do such stupid things). On top of that, she was witnessing someone she loves dearly about to be executed. She acted impulsively, like most humans would.
Elise's actions in that moment make perfect sense. It's one of the few times in Birthright as a whole where a character acted in a way I thought a human being really would.

i swear i was in a angsty mood and after replaying the scene something went wrong
A super quick pen sketch. I might do a real version one day if I ever get any inspiration.
I swear to god, I could write a ten-page oneshot just based on this one verse. This is Gunnerr canon, now.

After all, I can’t tell what’s so different between that corpse and me…
a sad day…

A quick doodle of @news14-arts's Rosamund and her man Shura, because Shuramund is the OTP to end all OTPs. I would die for them. Shura loves carrying Rosie around on his back, and enjoys being the little spoon when they cuddle. And honestly, with a backpack that cute, who wouldn't want to wear it all the time?
MY LILAC HAIRED HUSBANDO!!! Finally, a young Gunther who isn't going through a goth phase!

Needless to say, I was curious.
Just some random knowledge…
