Queen Nerr of Nohr, The Conquering Monarch and her late husband, Prince-Consort Gunther, The Shadow of Death A head canon where events play out as they do in Conquest, but Xander (and possibly Elise) die as they do in Birthright. Camilla still abdicates the throne, having never had much of a head for politics, but as Nerr is the third in the line of succession (Garon both formally legitimized her), she becomes the new ruler, rather than Leo, who instead becomes one of her advisors, taking over as her chief advisor when her husband died. Nerr is incredibly adept at political affairs, having both a shrewd intellect and a natural charisma. She has many allies, not just throughout the many duchies of Nohr, but also throughout Hoshido, namely Moukushuu, Kouga, Izumo and Kazeho. Having personal ties to so many political leaders, as well as having been well versed in negotiation since she was very young (her natural aptitude for manipulating people into giving her what she wants was one of the few things Garon nurtured in her) results in her quite easily brokering deals to the benefit of her queendom. Even Leo admits that she’s much better suited to be in a position of power than him. She’s well loved by the common folk because she overtly places a precedence on their well being above the wealthier castes. Feelings are mixed amongst the nobility. A few nobles recognize that she’s a young girl trying to fix a kingdom that’s been on the brink of collapse for almost a century, but most aristocrats simply disdain this Hoshidan whore and her peasant husband for daring to try and uproot their way of life. There have been several assassination attempts on her life, but alas, assassins creeping on her are old hat for the Dark Blood Princess. Despite the love she holds for her subjects, she is a cold woman, unnerving people with her often vacant stare and flat affect. She’s well known for publicly, and personally, executing those involved in attempted coups. She has become much crueler since the passing of her husband, formerly Sir Gunther, five years after she ascended the throne. A rumor has passed through the staff of Castle Krakenburg that she was involved in murdering him directly, several sources stating that she could be heard speaking to a third person in their quarters the day he passed, though the identity of this third party remains a mystery. Those close to her know this is nonsense as she put the wellbeing of her former retainer above all else, including her queendom and family. Her mental state seems to have severely degraded since his death. They express concern for her as she is often found staring at fountains and ponds, stating he speaks to her through the water, and “he’ll return alive” when she finds “Aum”.
