Not-So-Sheeran PSA: Please do not start B/P-ing, or seek out how to do that, if you are not already engaged in that pattern of behavior.

Please. Guys. It's so bad for you.

I'm only human. Yeah, I've done it. Most of us have. Personally, however, my history is far more restriction-oriented, with any kind of B/P behavior something that's sporadic and, frankly, usually happens when I'm drunk and eat greasy crap because my prefrontal cortex -- heavily implicated in restrictive EDs, very top-down process going on there -- is dissolved and I'm in Limbic Mode.

Anyway.

This is going to sound absolutely fucking horrible, but I believe it has some truth to it, dark as it is.

Frequent purging behavior is SO BAD for your body, I'd go so far as to say that you're somehow "better off" (as if it weren't an awful fucking brain-warping disease, lmao!) with restriction and 🌟ving than with very frequent B/P behavior. (E.g., to the frequency at which it qualifies for a diagnosis of Bulimia nervosa.)

Furthermore, I would like to put forth a secondary PSA.

Not-So-Sheeran PSA: Please Do Not Start B/P-ing, Or Seek Out How To Do That, If You Are Not Already Engaged

Some of you are probably well aware of this -- after all, this shit is a mental disorder, we do things we damn well know are irrational, and engage in behaviors we hate in ourselves and all that.

But if you are not aware -- taking laxatives does pretty much ZILCH to prevent your body from absorbing any significant amount of calories from the food that you have consumed.

It's awful for your gastrointestinal health, you can become dependent on stimulant laxatives such that you have issues if you don't take them, it causes GI discomfort, etc.

It's not worth it.

And again. THIS SHIT IS A MENTAL ILLNESS. We don't always think and act rationally here, and we all know this.

This post is not meant for anyone already doing those things, so much as for people who might have an ED that has recently developed or is incipient, and who might be considering looking for info on how to engage in these behaviors or w/e.
