How to participate in Devotee & Deity Trend
(I invented it but it got enough interest overnight that I’m making an official post to help folks if they want to do this!)
Let’s do this, pagans + witches! I love seeing how devotees resemble their deities’ energies, or even sometimes physical traits.
Post a picture of you alongside your deity! You can post a moodboard, statue, art of the deity, whatever floats your boat, my dude!
Tag the post with #devotee and deity so participating people can find the trend easily!
Don’t you people start judging each other. This is meant to be a fun little online activity to honor our deities! People don’t have to look like their deities to worship them, of course… I just find that a lot of times people give off the same energy as their deity and I think that’s so cool.
Have fun! 😊
I just had a dream...
i remember i was sitting on a sofa, and i remember a woman coming up to me (I don't remember her appearance , but a gut feeling told me she was an experienced witch) and she told me:
,,Gods aren't here for you just for exchange and work. Even when working, they are here for you. Gods care about you. They are real. They are here for you."
And even tho I don't really remember half of that dream. I believe that one of my goddesses visited me in it ❤️🫶🏻
loaded (genuine) question but. If people say the myths are just metaphors/not literal events, then how do we know what the gods are truly like (personality/powers/etc) and why do we treat them as real beings? did they originate from a myth itself or did people know of the gods existence and then create the myth based off of them? how did they find out all of the names and what they stand for without the myths? are the gods physical or metaphysical beings and actual gods, or are they aspects of nature (lightning, rain) that people have given names and personification? or not nature itself but rather the forces of nature being alive and THATS the gods? I’m having a hard time understanding what exactly gods are to majority of people and how *i* should perceive them. when someone says the gods are real, what ARE the gods? is it the same as when Christians believe in their god and say he is real and watching over people? or are these gods a completely different concept
additionally… if the gods are just nature or forces of nature to people then why do we call them gods and give them pronouns, names, personality rather than just referring to it as nature/natural forces?"
That is a loaded question, but a very interesting one!
The most important thing about deities and people's relationships/beliefs surrounding them is this: it is all subjective, because it is all belief.
For your first point about myths being metaphors: some people don't view them as metaphors. There are a few people who are "myth literalists" and believe that the myths of their religion are true and factual (one example would be Christian Creationists, who believe that the World truly was made in 7 days and that The Flood actually happened). Most people you'll interact with in pagan or witchcraft circles will agree that the myths are stories, that they reflect the authors and their societies beliefs more than any factual story of the Gods, but that doesn't mean there is no truth in them! For example, Zeus, from the Hellenic pantheon, is the King of Gods and the God of thunder and the sky - this information is gathered from the myths and stories of Ancient Greece, it is considered "fact" or "canon" within the religion. However, there are also many stories of him 'cheating' on his wife, Hera, and fathering many children (often by nonconsensual means) - many hellenists (and academics) will argue that this was representative of the power of rain and storms (creating fertile ground), and that as King of Kings many Ancient Greeks would have desired a story that put them, or their ancestors, as one of his descendants, these aspects of the myths may be seen as less literal by many hellenic followers, or simply as a product of their time. HOWEVER, the most important part is that it really just depends on the person and their beliefs, which stems from their research, experiences and general world view.
People treat their deities as real for the same reasons that Christians treat their God as real: because they believe He is. That is what faith is. That is how religion works - you believe they are real, even if you cannot prove it.
As for your next part about where they came from: that again depends on the person.
Some people believe that the Gods predate their myths, that myths were stories created about them or dictated/written down by those they deemed worthy of hearing them. Other people believe that deities were created by the myths and belief (this is more similiar to my belief system, which I am happy to expand upon if requested).
Are the gods seperate to their domains? Are they their domains personified? Is Zeus a deity that controls the sky, or is he simply the Sky itself, named by the Ancient Greeks. Does Sol truly travel across the sky on a chariot, or is she just a different name used for the Sun in our sky?
I cannot answer that for you.
Your question: "how i should perceive them" is impossible for anyone but yourself to answer and I am sorry to tell you that, I know that it can be difficult and that sometimes all you want is a concrete answer and a step by step guidebook of "What to Believe in and how to do it Right" but that simply doesn't exist.
In pagan spaces, you will see people disuss or debate whether or not their gods are omniciscient or not (many citing myths as sources or using their own upg - unique personal gnosis), you will see people discuss how their gods appear to them and what they represent or mean. You will see a hundred variations on how to worship them or who they are. None of them are wrong but conversesly none of them are right - they are simply that person's unique faith and belief, and that faith can change over time.
From what I have seen, many people believe their gods to be real and as seperate beings who control their domains (i.e. Zeus is the God of the sky, not the sky itself), and that their myths are partially true, partially metaphorical, all within the context of the society they were written. Many believe that the gods have changed and evolved as times have gone on and that they are beyond our societal rules. But, there is no real "cookie cutter" belief.
If you wish to know, I can tell you my own personal beliefs, what they mean to me, and how I have come to hold them but I will not claim that they are correct and I can't speak for others. I'd definitely reccomend speaking to other pagans and immersing yourself in pagan communities.
You must decide for yourself what the gods are, but I am happy to help you find the tools to discover that.
A beautiful moment with Mother Nature just now:
I was being anxious, as per usual, and asking Mother about our relationship. I asked how her she percieved it, what I was to her and what she was to me. I had my headphones on but no music was playing. I pulled some very important and beautiful cards but, as the last card flew from the deck, music started playing in my headphones.
It was this song.
Pagan Misconceptions Clarified: Why Pele, is NOT "Only The Angry Goddess Of Volcanoes and Fire, That lives in The Volcano; Kilauea?!"
This is what most people have said or known about Pele: She is the Goddess of Volcanoes and Fire, that lives inside The Volcano Kilauea; and is responsable of the violent eruptions of this volcano, and than she may appeared in human form once in a while; to see the world beyond her home… Well, is time to see beyond this scarce information; and at the end of reading this post, you will know how this can be used in your life!
Pele, is too: The Goddess of Lightning, The Goddess of The Violence; and… The Goddess of The Dance!
The Goddess of Lightning: Most people doesn’t know, than during volcanic eruptions; happens a very rare phenomenon, that is commonly associated with storms: The appearance of Lightnings, inside the dark smoke of an erupting volcano! So, Hawaiians during centuries; have said than Pele, is The Deity than can handle this element; than creates respect and fear, at the same time!
The Goddess of The Violence: There are myths, were Pele’s character as a violent Deity; is cemented, including killing a lover she toughted was cheating on her; (but was resurrected later) and the fact than the volcanic eruptions in Hawaii, are ones of the most violent on Earth; this is why Pele, is considered as… The Goddess of Violence!
The Goddess of The Dance: According to a myth, Pele is the creator of The Hawaiian Dance of Hula; when she found the ideal island to live, and she danced the first Hula Dance; as a sign of victory: Is still practices today, and it was used as one of the ways to worshipped and honour her!
Hawaii, was colonized a few centuries ago; and, as sadly happened in The New World; (which includes Oceania) the process of Colonization includes an intense campaign of Conversion of The Hawaiian Nation; which little by little, accepted the foreign faith; but… Curiously, Pele’s devotion doesnt died as quickly as The Missionaries and Preachers wanted it… This is why Pele, is still vigent in Hawaii’s people; today. (Those Missionaries and Preachers, never got it: You may kill a myth, BUT… You will never kill to a God!)
Curious Fact: There is a phenomenon, called; "The Curse of Pele", which happen when people grabbed natural things of Hawaii; as a souvernir, (a pebble, anything than came from the volcanic soil; etc) and as soon they take wharever they found with them… They starts to suffered strikes of bad luck: The only way to being free of this curse, is returning the… “Stolen Object”, backed to Hawaii; preferably, travel back to Hawaii yourself; to put the object back where you found it. (I was surprised to know, than in Hawaii’s Mail Service; most of the packages than are sended to that island… Are of very streesed tourists than sends back whatever they took from Pele’s Land! [So… If you ever trip to Hawaii, and you see a natural element in it than you want to take with you… Is better than you leave it in its place, Okay?!]
Pele, can appears to people; in different ways: The first, is a beautiful woman with long black trenses; and the second, (the more often way); as an old woman of white long flowing hair, sometimes with a white dog. If you ever see her, greet her respectfully saying aloha; and offer your help to her.
In the 80’s, in one of the most violent eruptions of The Kilauea; only a hut escaped of being burned down, and when the man was asked of who he was, it was a big surprised to know than the lucky guy… Was a Devotee of Pele! (Which totally explain, why his house wasn’t touched by the lava; in the first place…)
Today, people leaves offerings to Pele; to get her protection and to appeased her fury: Yes… She is still revered and respected, today!
And this is all, about The Deity than is more present today than never; in the magical Hawaii’s Islands: Pele!
Have all of you, a Life of respecting Nature and The Deities than are close to it… So Be It!
MORNING PRAYER
OF
APOLLO

Here's a morning prayer to the Greek God Apollo in Latin with English translations:
Latin:
Apollo, Deus Solis,
qui auroram flammis ornat,
qui citharae melos canis suave lyraeque tenes,
te precor, sancte,
mane mihi propitius esto,
et mentem lustra radiis tuis purioribus.
Per te nostrae vitam lucemque foveamus,
per te prospera semper et laeta faciamus,
per te felices omnes dies agamus.
Apollo, patrone vitae,
mane nobiscum sis!
English:
Apollo, God of the Sun,
who adorns the dawn with flames,
who plays sweet melodies on the lyre and the harp,
I pray to you, holy one,
be propitious to me this morning,
and cleanse my mind with your pure rays.
Through you,
let us nurture our life and light,
through you,
let us always make things prosperous and happy,
through you,
let us spend all our days in happiness.
Apollo, patron of life,
be with us this morning!
Attraction Tea (to aid in love magic)
This is a tea I would make to enhance any love magic I performed. Hell, you can even set your intention to be all about self-love too. It's versatile enough.
I don't have proportions because this was a fave during my more chaotic and less organized days of practice, but I prefer it with more emphasis on the rose, and then using the rest to your preference.
Rose petals
Cinnamon
Ginger
A little honey as desired
Mix your ingredients(except for honey!) together and put in a tea infuser, bag, etc. Prepare your tea. As it steeps, breathe in it's steam and hold your intention in your mind as you exhale.
This can be done on its own or in conjunction with a more elaborate working. If, while enjoying this by itself, you want to add a little atmosphere, light pink candles and incorporate rose quartz for a softer vibe, or opt for red candles and carnelian for something a little more passionate.
Unsolicited Witch Tip #14
Place star anise under your pillow to protect against nightmares.
Letting Go Potion [for relationships that no longer serve you]
Letting go of people isn't always easy, even if they aren't good for you. I could wax poetic about the number of toxic relationships, whether romantic or platonic, I've kept alive simply because I was too anxious to set boundaries. Even when people would hurt me, I'd still grieve those relationships after they ended. This concoction has a lot of ingredients that focus on cleansing, strength, and joy, which can be helpful in those times of transition after endings.
Ingredients
2 large leafy basil sprigs, stems smashed with side of knife
1 piece thinly sliced ginger
2 cups water
1/4 cup honey
1 tsp ground turmeric
2 cups grapefruit juice
2 cups orange juice
1/3 cup lemon juice
Add basil, water, ginger, honey, and turmeric to small saucepan and bring to a boil over med-high heat. Reduce to simmer and cook for 5 minutes.
Remove pan from heat and let cool. Strain the syrup through a fine mesh strainer over your pitcher. Use a spatula to press as much of the liquid goodness as possible. Measure off 1 cup of syrup (reserve the remaining for sweetening other teas).
To a large pitcher, add the measured syrup, lemon juice, orange juice, and grapefruit juice together until combined. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
This makes about 4 servings, so you can adjust portions as needed or make the full amount.
For magical workings: focus on your intention with ever step. Breathe in the vapors as the syrup heats, envisioning protecting your heart, strengthening yourself, and knowing that you are enough. You can also pray to whatever deities you feel can help with your working, or light candles that match your intention.
For a little extra layer of magic, do this in the last few nights of the lunar cycle, just before the new moon.
Sleepy Witch Bag
Honestly, one of my favorite little spells because it's so easy to customize.
Take a drawstring bag (ideally in a color you associate with peace).
Add any combination of the following: amethyst, selenite, howlite, rose quartz, moonstone, laboradite, rose petals, lavender, mugwort, rosemary, cloves, and bay. If there are other herbs or stones that match a specific need, feel free to throw those in too.
Focus on your intention with each item. Say a little prayer for peace. Light candles. Whatever you need to do to connect with your practice, do it.
Place the bag near your bed. This can be a bedside table, windowsill by the bed, under the pillow, etc. Whatever works best for you.
Sunday Witchcraft- Bath Spell for Creativity
I am once again finding myself missing having a proper bathtub in the apartment. Showers are nice and all, but baths have their own sort of magic in and of themselves. But for those who can enjoy ritual baths, I present you this: a bath spell to enhance your creativity.
I love doing this working on Sundays because it's a way to honor Apollo, but you can do it whatever day fits your need and invoke any deities (or none at all, if that's how you roll).
First and foremost, draw a bath as hot as you like it. To the water add salt (for cleansing negative energy), lemongrass (to remove obstacles), orange slices (to inspire joy in all that you do), lavender (to ease anxiety that comes with creative endeavors), and rose petals (to open your heart).
While the bath is running, prepare a cup of tea. I prefer something mint for this, as it helps clear my mind, and a minty green tea is ideal for the added boost to focus.
Light orange candles to promote creativity (if you want to design a sigil for creativity, carve it into the candle before lighting it). If you're working with the energy of the sun or with a sun deity, light a yellow one as well.
Relax in the tub. Drink your tea. For the first few minutes, don't do anything except allow yourself to unwind and relax. Breathe. Taking the time to focus on yourself is so important, and the creative juices won't start flowing if you're too tense.
Focus on what you want to accomplish, your chosen medium of expression, anything specific you're working on, etc
When you're ready, say aloud, "Open heart and open mind, I ask the guidance of the divine. Let the energy flow so that I may create." If you're invoking a deity and wish to follow this with a prayer to that deity, this is the perfect time to do so.
Remain there as long as you need. Do anything that helps stimulate your creativity.
Thank the deities, spirits, universe, etc, and end the ritual once you're ready by simply getting out of the bath and carrying on with your day and pursuing your chosen creative endeavor.
Kitchen Witch Recipe: Sweet Potato Breakfast Bowl
This is a breakfast I love making when the day needs an extra nudge in a positive direction. The recipe serves about 3 people, so adjust as needed!
2-3 sweet potatoes (comfort)
1 tbsp fresh orange juice (happiness)
1 tsp ground cinnamon (love, energy)
2-3 tsp honey (love, happiness)
2 tbsp almond butter (inspiration)
Fruit and nut toppings to suit your tastes and intentions. I'm especially fond of adding dried cranberries.
Instructions
Preheat oven to 450 Fahrenheit. Pierce sweet potatoes with knife. Roast for an hour until potatoes are soft and cooked through. Remove from oven and let cool.
Peel skin away and add sweet potato to a bowl. Add honey, cinnamon, and orange juice and stir until smooth and creamy. Divide between bowls.
Dollop almond butter on top and swirl with potato mixture. Top with favorite toppings.
To add a little more magic and make more of a ritual of it, I will sometimes light a yellow candle as I prep everything, as well as tracing a sigil to match my intentions over the sweet potato skin before putting it in the oven.

house hunting prayer to Hestia
O Hestia πολύολβος, I seek your aid in finding a new home
As you tend the sacred hearth of Olympus may the smoke of heaven guide me to the home meant to be mine
May you guide me to a home where you can be worshipped in your full splendor and glory, where great offerings will be made for you daily in praise and gratitude
May you guide me to a home where my family can live in joy and abundance, and may you protect us from struggle and grief
You are ever eternal, rich in blessings, most beloved Queen of the home and hearth. May your divine fire roar, keeping the universe in motion. And with it, may you help me find a home worthy of your glory.
Lost Object Spell
A spell to enhance your concentration and mentally retrace your steps to the last known sighting of your missing item. You can initiate this ritual anytime, but performing it during a Full Moon will significantly boost its power.
Needed:
• A suitably sized mirror
• An orange candle
• A black candle
• A magnet
• Basil oil
• Patchouli incense
Instructions:
Arrange the mirror on your altar, position the orange candle to the right and the black candle to the left, with the magnet right in the middle. Move clockwise around the room with a lit patchouli incense, inviting the elemental energies into your circle, conclude in front of the mirror. Envision the missing item and chant: "With sight and sound, let what's lost be found". Apply basil oil to the black candle and light it, focusing on the missing item. Do the same with the orange while recalling its last location. Touch the magnet, look in the mirror and chant: "Shown in the mirror, may the magnet draw near what's dear". Maintain your focus on the mirror, repeating the chant and remain open to any visual hints that might indicate where the item is. Convey your thanks to the elements by saying: "Elements of Earth, Water, Fire, Air, I entrust this circle to your care. Return to the depths and the skies, with my graditude and loving goodbyes". Circle your space counterclockwise with the incense. Allow the candles to burn down naturally with the magnet between them, then proceed to retrieve your misplaced object.

I’ve been trying to find deities associated with ladybugs, but haven’t found much on the topic. Does anyone know of any gods?
Thanks in advance!!
My full moon messages
Lord Hades and Lady Persephone have been encouraging me a lot recently to share my faith more with others (I haven’t been writing much on here about my relationship with them because it feels very personal and intimate, but if they want me to be more open about my faith, I’ll follow their guidance in doing so!), so I thought this would be a good place to write down the highlights of my full moon divination session with them. I really loved these messages, and they were exactly what I needed to hear, so hopefully they inspire some of you too!
They both want me to work on my selfishness. I cut myself off from others too often, and need to be more aware of how I can help others/the world at large, and act upon those opportunities. They both emphasize that I am under their protection and should not be afraid. They also remind me to cherish the small things in life, and to treat everyone with kindness and compassion. Now is a good time in my life to connect more with nature. I’ve grown a lot recently, and They want me to celebrate that progress and be proud of myself!
In her tarot session, Lady Persephone encourages me to work on letting go of negativity, especially in regards to grudges I hold or resentments I have for the past. It’s not a good use of my time and energy, to be hung up on something that happened years ago that I can’t change, so it’s time to release those negative emotions. This may be something I’ve struggled with for years, but now I am strong enough to start making real progress on changing.
Lord Hades encourages me to keep working with him, especially as I go through transformative periods of my life, but also reminds me that my own power comes from within. I can be a lot more self-reliant than I think, and can use this independence to strengthen myself. No matter how much guidance He gives me, it’s ultimately up to me to make the changes I need to become the person I want to be. Balance is key when it comes to my relationships, in addition to how I live my life in general.
I’ve found that I feel the need to say something to signify the end of a prayer, or else I feel like it’s incomplete. This probably comes from growing up Christian, where “amen” was used all the time. I started just saying “thank you” for this and it works great! Just wanted to put that out there for anyone else who’s having similar concerns!
☀️Deities☀️
I see so many people criticizing others over their relationships, or lack thereof, with their deities, so here are some reminders:
Not having deities is okay.
Having just a devotional relationship with your deities is okay.
Having a working relationship with your deities is okay.
Playing games with your deities is okay.
Harmless jokes with your deities are okay.
Doing fun things with your deities is okay.
Doing devotional offerings for your deities is okay.
Giving physical offerings to your deities is okay.
Not being able to do certain offerings for deities is okay.
Having an altar for your deities is okay, no matter the size.

This is your relationship with your deities in your practice. Don't let anyone tell you what you can and can't do. 🫶
It's 2am, please forgive me if there are any mistakes!
Do you want to learn how to get revenge on someone but you're not in a safe space to do so? Maybe you're still living under your Christian/Muslim parents' roof. Or maybe your roommate won't leave your stuff alone so you can't create any revenge spell jars out on your desk.
Fear not! Did you know that for $50, I will teach you a full course on different revenge spells that will perfectly suit your needs! Just message me and I'll arrange the video call session that will cover everything you need to know from getting started to getting the results you want! All in the comfort of your home!
