Dbda - Tumblr Posts
hey, google isn't helping me out much so i figured i'd ask here
does anyone know if [email protected] is the email you send general complaints about.. topics.. (i'm going to war for dead boy detectives)
i've found a lot of other emails but i don't know which one is right for this/which one will actually maybe possibly work

Someday they will be ready to go on a new adventure together and their story will be told đ

'If you wanted us to be crushed or devestated, we are but we're also bloody angry, and you won't be taking us anywhere. We won't be having it. We still have a purpose, we're the dead boy detective agency!' ⚠࣪ Ë
ATTENTION DEAD BOYS FANDOM:
We have some unfinished business and a case to solve: The Case of the Curious Cancellation! đđ

Here are the ways you can help (be sure to read until the end).
I'm not sure how many people here on Tumblr are also over on DBDA Twitter, but there have been MANY developments in the last 24 hours and it's important for all of us to be on the same page if we're going to have a chance in hell of saving our show.
First and foremost, we need to get Dead Boy Detectives in the Netflix Top 10 again. This means running it as much as possible. Read about that below:

(SOURCE x)
As the graphic says, the goal is to have it running on a loop constantly, as much as you physically can. Be sure to have some level of volume on or else it won't count. If you're on Twitter be sure to post your rewatch (photos of your tv, commentary, etc.) with the hashtag #ReviveDeadBoyDetectives !!!
Also, there's no better time to do this: the Tweet below brings up a great point! đ

(SOURCE x)
Second, and easiest thing: KEEP TALKING ABOUT THE SHOW AND CREATING CONTENT ABOUT THE SHOW. Analysis, fics, fanart, shitposts, gif sets, memes, tik tok videos, so on - do not stop! Reblog other people's stuff and talk about it! Give fics kudos, comment, make fic rec lists and post that WIP or sketch! The most important thing to remember is to TAG YOUR POSTS AND CREATIONS. We need to trend!!! On Tumblr make sure you continue tagging your posts as you probably already are (look at my tags on this post if you need help, and remember not to use "DBD" on here because that is another fandom! We use DBDA here). On Twitter you want to use the hashtag #ReviveDeadBoyDetectives for the rewatch and #SaveDeadBoyDetectives is a popular one, too. You can also use #DeadBoyDetectives. Hell, I usually use all three if I can! Hashtag every post you make about Dead Boys, no matter how annoying or "cringe" you may feel. Flood the fucking tag and do not stop.
Third, everyone needs to sign and keep circulating the petition. We've surpassed 5,000 signatures in a day which is fantastic, but we need more. Get everyone you know to sign it; tell them it takes no more than 15 seconds. Be annoying until they do it just to shut you up.

Fourth, request "Dead Boy Detectives Season 2" through Netflix's support website. It's a small thing but if we all do this a couple times a day it will get their attention. They really do vet these suggestions, and an influx of requests for a canceled show will raise eyebrows.

Lastly, if you decide to write Netflix (via email or a letter - their office address has been floating around) please remember to stay concise and professional. Don't curse at them, don't call names. State that you are disappointed with the cancellation of the show, maybe add an anecdote about what it meant to you, and I would even recommend attaching some articles that emphasize people's displeasure with the platform abandoning shows on a whim and Netflix's flippant attitude toward queer shows in particular. Dead Boy Detective Agency on Twitter has retweeted every article on this topic so far, you can find their page here.

You can also use graphics such as the ones below to affirm that the cancellation was unjust.

I know this feels like a lot: know your limits and take care of yourself. Whether you do every single one of these things or just a few of these things, every llittle bit helps!
Even in the worst case scenario where nothing changes, this gesture will mean so much to everyone who made this show. We owe it to the writers, cast, crew, and each other to TRY. We can all agree that this show deserves at least another season and if Netflix isn't going to do it, they need to be open to selling it to someone who will. We cannot keep allowing them to axe these queer and diverse shows with little regard for their customers and their employees, but also because it sets a harmful standard in the industry that is destroying television.
Let's crack this case and bring our agency back! I truly believe in this community!! đ We can do this!!
If there are any spelling errors or issues with links let me know! I did this on mobile because I want to mobilize this information as quickly as possible! I'll be adding on to this with new developments and can answer any questions you all might have. Lets save our show!
mourning umbrella academy fans i have a proposition for you (also i am one of you LMAO)
there is a show that has similar energy to the umbrella academy called 'dead boy detectives' that got cancelled by netflix on friday
if you could show some support by watching it (also it's just a really good show and i think it could help with the season 4 pain) we would all really appreciate it
fight netflix with us pls they are evil
also i am not trying to clog the tag in any way i am just doing everything i am told to do in order to have a chance at getting this show renewed. it is my favorite show pls pls pls pls pls pls pls pls pls
I'm honestly grieving the show.
It was one of the best shows netflix has ever put out, amazing enough to get me to run to resurrect my tumblr after years of not using it to be a part of its fandom.
I've only ever been in 1 fandom in my life before dbda, and genuinely thought I'd never find something that would grip me enough to make me want to engage with its community as much as I did in my previous fandom.
But then, after 6 years, Dead Boy Detectives came along and made me reach for a drawing tablet for the first time in over 2 years. Made me write fics, even though I don't consider myself a writer, and I've never written this many fics this fast. I haven't been this creative in a long time and it's been an indescribable source of joy to me to be able to go back to creating content.
It got me on discord, which always overwhelmed and scared me, but I'm so glad I had given it a chance because I've met so many incredible, funny, talented and supportive people there, and now I can't imagine not talking to them almost every day.
It really was a bright light during a less than ideal time in my life and will still continue to be because I refuse to let it go.
We were given something truly great and can still celebrate it and make and consume fanart, fics, gifs, metas, au ideas, crafts, moodboards etc etc to support each other.

Hey @netflix honestly how do you expect people to watch your shows and invest their time and money into you when EVERY SINGLE TIME you have something people love you just throw it away?
Whatâs the fucking point if a show with a 92/90 on Rotten Tomatoes and thatâs made MULTIPLE Best Of lists isnât even given a chance to grow?
Letâs look at some comparisons of a few other recent Netflix shows that got a second (or more) season, shall we? How are they stacking up on RT?
Stranger Things: 91/90
The Sandman: 88/80
Bridgerton: 84/74
Shadow & Bone: 83/84
Wednesday: 73/85
Locke & Key: 68/56
Avatar: The Last Airbender: 61/72
Fate: The Winx Saga: 45/82
So good reviews and critical acclaim wonât do it. Multiple weeks on your top 10 wonât do it, making the Nielsen top 10 wonât do it. Engagement from a devoted fan base wonât do it. Iâm curious, whatâs the metric here? Just because it wasnât an instant runaway sensation, itâs not worth it to you? Is that what it takes?
Hereâs a hot tip: if you want people to continue to pay for a subscription to your service, maybe give stuff a chance to grow. Maybe invest a bit of time into actually advertising a show before it premiers.
One of the most popular tweets about Dead Boy Detectives when it came out was someone saying they didnât want to watch it because they didnât trust you not to cancel it and break their hearts. There were THOUSANDS of people agreeing with it. Thousands of viewers, thousands of accounts you missed out on because people didnât trust you. So how is this move going to help that?
How are you planning to get people to stick around when one of the best shows on your platform isnât given a chance? How are you expecting them to ever give your shows a chance when youâre proving again and again that you canât be trusted to follow through?
Dead Boy Detectives is a great show. Itâs a quality product. The cinematography, the lighting, the sound design, the sets, the props, the COSTUMES. The scripts are good, the acting is great, the effects are believable. the cast and crew poured their hearts into it and you can see it on the screen. The characters are relatable and real. This is a show that is rewatchable. A show that is fun. A show that is entertaining. That has a good message, that deals with heavy topics with care and sensitivity. Thatâs got comedy and drama and horror and mystery. Thatâs got representation and diversity. That means something to people. Means A LOT to people. But thatâs not important to you.
Dead Boy Detectives was THE reason I renewed my account. I watched it multiple times. (See how many magnifying glasses there are after my name up there? Fun fact: I added one every time I watched the full season.) I was even making a list of other shows and movies I was planning to check out. But thatâs not happening any more, because Iâm canceling my account as soon as this post is up. And I know Iâm not the only one.
Btw for anyone who doesnât like to use twitter/x or just doesnât feel like using it, I take suggestions on what to tweet! I made a new twitter just for #savedeadboydetectives but I mostly retweet current stuff. So if yall want to spread anything new just put it in the notes or tags or whatever and Iâll tweet it with the proper hashtags!
Okay but it doesn't make sense, I mean everything pointed to a renewal: they had season 2 practically already written and just 2 weeks ago George made all those cameos hinting at season 2, replying to those who asked about future plans for the characters things like "I already know how it ends", "We just have to wait to see this and that" and he seemed quite hopeful (and honestly like he knew that there was a future for the show and the characters).
Of course, I'm not saying he already knew and fooled us because we know how much he cares about the show and about Edwin and about the fandom, quite the opposite more likely he was informed later (and I can't begin to imagine how heartbroken he must be now, along with the rest of the cast), but what I don't understand is he must have asked for permission to talk about Dead Boy Detectives and Edwin's character and to say things like that, otherwise he could've simply redirected the answers to a more neutral ground instead of teasing, so I don't know, there's just something that doesn't sit well with me with this cancellation.
the worst part of all this is just how fucking messy the rights/ownership/etc are and how that makes saving it near impossible. like netflix didnât just cancel it, it picked it up just to fucking doom it
Ok so I finally watched some more Sandman and read some more fanfiction so now I kinda want:
Orpheus!Edwin where Dream was the one who had to kill his son, but his son was reborn just in time to be killed by the same book that imprisoned him for a decade
His son who wanted so much to save his love from hell, just to be reborn and end up there himself
Everyone Dream loves is put there at some point, either by his hand or an accident
Eurydice!Charles being the one to pull him out even though Orpheus!Edwin failed their first life
But even then he looked back
Dream finding his son again only to find out while he was trapped, Edwin was being tortured
Despair looking after her nephew in her own twisted way, she couldnât interfere with his punishment, but she gave him his tormentor to inflict his own hurt upon
Some of my Orpheus!Charles and Eurydice!Edwin dbd ideas!
Unlike Orpheus, Charlesâ Father disliked his singing and thought it was too girly
Since in the series Death hasnât meet the boys, she only suspects theyâre the reincarnations of her nephew and his love, she isnât 100% sure and doesnât want to give her brother false hope
The cat king is a child of Desire, making him a cousin to Orpheus
What if the boys met Hob first and he introduces Morpheus to the boys
Hob doesnât know the boys know Morpheus (maybe the boys donât remember either)
The reason their lives restarted in such different times was an attempt to try to separate them, but their soulmates so they found each other anyway
Edwinâs soul always has some mark of hell
Reverse reincarnation: Edwin as Orpheus, Charles as Eurydice
Maybe Eurydice was always book smart, but it got lost in time
How would the boys go from being on the run from an Endless to being family to them??
Iâll probably have more but if anyone wants to use any of this feel free. Iâm an idea person not a writer.

Hello Wednesday fandom - Iâm reaching out to you in a plea of fandom solidarity! Please help us!!!
Iâm writing on behalf of The Dead Boy Detectives fandom: our show was canceled in its first season, cut off without a care for its dedicated fandom or its insane amount of potential. Yet another queer, diverse, supernatural show suffers an unfair fate and weâre bloody sick of it! We believe Netflix and Warner Bros. are making a huge mistake!
Could you guys please sign our petition and help spread it by reblogging?

Weâre not just trying to get a season 2: weâre trying to get justice for the cast, crew, and writers behind this unapologetically queer show. They had the writers write a season 2 just to cancel the show and, frankly, thatâs objectively a slimy thing to do. I believe Dead Boy Detectives is a casualty of its time, that shows cult-clasic, niche shows like Buffy or Supernatural for instance would suffer the same fate today if held to Netflixâs callous and cruel standards and their blatant disregard for creatives.
Lastly, our shows are actually quite aesthetically similar, and I think if you enjoy Wednesday you will enjoy Dead Boy Detectives as well! Please donât let the cancellation deter you, it really is a phenomenal show that will have you laughing one moment and crying the next. The story is really well-paced and self-contained, so thereâs no gigantic cliffhanger to worry about either. It has so much heart! Please help us save our boys who defy heaven and hell with their love! đ
Thank you in advance to any of you who signed, and a HUGE special thank you to those who stream it! Netflix has gotten far too comfortable nuking shows, especially those with queer themes and diverse leading characters, in their prime. If you sign and share our petition in an act of fandom solidarity please know it means the world to our detective agency and we appreciate you so much!!!đđđ

Last thing: I promise this post is not intended to clog your tag in any way! This will be the only post I make in your tag! I wouldnât want our fandom to bleed into your space! Weâre just desperate for help and thereâs so much overlap in our fandoms and shows that it made sense to reach out to you all - I figure the least I can do for the show I love so much is to try. Thank you again đ¤
An aspect of Edwin's character that interests me is that he has not just accepted death - he has embraced it. Like, he did not want to die, and Hell was an unfathomably horrific experience. But now, after three decades with Charles, it seems to be his preferred state. He was never happy when he was alive, and now he has the safety of having someone who unconditionally loves him. He's passionate about his cases and finds fulfillment. He knows that none of this would have happened if he lived, and he's probably right! I hate that for him! And even if he did, he now knows that he would have been surrounded by people who wished he were gone! He's not just at peace with his death, he does not yearn for life. This is his life.

DEAD BOY DETECTIVES LETTER PROJECT
Starting this Thursday we will be sending letters to Netflix! Please prepare letters with all of your love for the show to convince Netflix to reverse their decision! đ
Please use the following address: 5808 W. Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90028 US
Every other week will be a letter mailing week so everyone has time to prepare their letters to send them on the selected Thursday's! You can send as many as you want to Netflix HQ and show them just how much you love Dead Boy Detectives!
if you want to get really mad, one of the writers for Dead Boy Detectives confirmed on twitter today that the Season 2 script had been WRITTEN AND COMPLETED when the cancellation news went out.
This is really untenable, not just as people watching these shows for entertainment, but as people who care about art and workers being treated fairly.
#netflixcancels is trending because people are so angry about several other wonderful, highly praised shows getting axed for the same reasons - especially Warrior Nun, another LGBTQ show with 100% ratings on Rotten Tomatoes and winner of several awards.
âď¸ I can only recommend, if this is important to you, streaming the hell out of Dead Boy Detectives and getting others on board, or you and everyone you know unsubscribes from Netflix. You can let em know on social media too.
There's also a petition, it's at 14k signatures, which is not nothing.
Anyway. I'm just stunned that Netflix bothers to make these shows which are positively received and artistically groundbreaking, just to destroy them after 1 season. It's unfair to everyone, not just fans, and an alarming sign for creative professions on the whole.
Jayden talking about how much he believes in the power of the Dead Boy Detectives fandom;
In addition, I wanted to say thank you here to everyone who continues to work so hard on promoting, streaming, sharing the show and signing the petition! Please do not get discouraged or give up yet.
We really do have a chance in this genuinely if we can keep it up for as long as possible! We are doing so great, the cast and crew honestly believe in us. If you need some motivation today or this week just know they are all rooting for us and continue to hold out hope! They are fighting just like we are đ
Gentle reminder that if youâre enjoying Agatha All Along, youâll love Dead Boy Detectives!!!
Your art is exquisite so I'm glad dbda got you to create again

itâs heartbreaking but dead boy detectives is still my favourite show of all time, and i just want to say that iâm so grateful for the community that bond many and many amazing, creative and loving people together đ¤
this show single-handedly ended my year long artblock and became a source of inspiration during these few months, and of course I would not like to let it go so easily I will continue to create đâ¨
