Mairon and Curumo

Mairon and Curumo hate each other- like, wouldn’t-piss-on-you-if-you-were-on-fire hate each other. They only get along when explicitly ordered to, and even then they just end up gossiping about other maiar instead of being productive. Aule blithely ignores this and pairs them up far too much. Curumo actually figured out Mairon’s betrayal early, but no-one believed him.

Curumo is made of iron, nickel, and mercury, and his fana is exactly one centimetre smaller than Mairon’s, a fact he is mocked mercilessly for. 

Reasons why Mairon and Curumo got into fights in Almaren

-Curumo was breathing too loudly

-Mairon walked over to Curumo's project, raised an eyebrow, shook his head, and left

-Curumo was talking to Eonwe

-Aule said their projects were of 'equal merit'

-Yavanna gave Curumo a slightly bigger blueberry

-Mairon needed all the gold but Curumo decided that day he wanted to be a goldsmith

-Curumo's ideas were more complicated than Mairon's

-Mairon was 'too shiny'

-Curumo asked Olorin to evaluate Mairon's project instead of doing it himself because 'it was clearly meant for those with lesser knowledge than I'

-Aiwendil said Mairon's filigree was pretty

-Aiwendil talked more to Mairon that day

-Mairon decided not to do extra work and wasn't reprimanded

-Curumo got very drunk and Mairon was within eyesight
