Critique Is Welcome - Tumblr Posts

working on some different expressions and hair styles. I’m also beginning to realize just how much I draw headshots.

Honestly, I think scars and prosthetics should be more common traits in character designs, especially in fantasy settings. Along with tying into a character’s backstory, they also provide new opportunities for different design traits. Over on my side blog I recently wrote a bit about magic (mostly in the Elder Scrolls series, but it counts) and about a third of it was focused on magically caused scars and prosthetics. I hate the Star Wars series for a long list of reasons, but I really enjoy its attitude towards prosthetics, and how casually they’re treated.
The Sketch

[Image Description: A half elf is shown from the shoulders up, with dark skin, and dark red hair. Her shoulders and cheeks are covered in pink, red, and grey freckles. Her lips are also red, and she is smiling. She is wearing large gold earrings. One of her eyes is a bright green, but the other is duller, and surrounded by electrical scars that spread across one side of her face and down her neck. End ID]
Stranger?

I drew something that is closer to a full body (:
Really, this was mostly for anatomy/pose and clothing practice, but overall, I think it turned out well. I found a website called same.energy, and there are some neat images on there that are great for inspiration, which is why this came out pretty different compared to the rest of my work.

[ID: An object head character is shown from the knees up, wearing tan pants and a dark striped shirt, with a sage green jacket over it. His head is a large bubble, filled with green, blueish grey, and purple smoke. In the smoke there is a floating sign, with glowing orange letters that ask “Stranger?” The background is dull green, with sketchy vines. His right arm is cut just below the elbow, but both arms are covered in dull green vine tattoos. End ID]

The Inspiration
The Sketches/Process Shots:

I’ve started watching dsmp, gotta love anarchy (:

I finished up my third DnD miniature! The image is slightly edited to change the hues of the sun and the shadows at the bottom, but nothing about the character's paint job was changed.
The miniature is from Reaper Miniatures, named "Vatanis, the Maggotcrown Warlock," and was sculpted by Bobby Jackson.
Notes about the paint job and photography process are under the cut! Critique is always welcome!
Notes:
I don't know if there is any official color palette for this character, I just decided to use one inspired by the character Lucio's, from the game The Arcana, mainly his red jacket/cape, and golden details and arm.
The lighting, aside from the slight change of hue under the main light source and along the sun rays, is entirely natural. I finished this model in less than a day to make sure I could take advantage of the setting sun. The unedited version of this is up on my Instagram.
Once I'm sure I won't take any more pictures of him, I'll paint his base black. Originally it was kept grey to blend into the rocks I thought I was going to use as an environment before I got this shot.
This was taken on my iPhone, and edited with Clip Studio Paint. When it comes to mini paints, I have no form of brand loyalty, and used a mix of Army Painter paints and washes, then a couple Citadel technical shades.

It only took me a month, but I finally finished my portrait of Renfield! (:
I haven't been able to draw as often as I'd like to, with school and work, but I have a new Curse of Strahd campaign to make art for, and my literature class is bound to give me some inspiration eventually. (: Sadly I had to rush this towards the end, and I think it shows, but I don't think this is the worst thing I've made, and now I have stuff to keep in mind for later pieces.
Critique is always welcome!

I finally painted a couple miniatures again (:
I'm working on expanding my mini collection to include more NPCs/stock enemies for my games, and wolves are abundant in Ravenloft.
These are the Pathfinder Deepcuts Timberwolves (:
