This was a fun little fifteen minute sketch challenge. You put your playlist on shuffle and draw something based off of the song that plays, looping the song while you draw. I did a bunch of these with a friend, but I'd say this one turned out the best. It's based off of March to the Sea by Twenty One Pilots.
In enters Disciple, Skillet, Thousand Foot Krutch, Showbread, Relient K-

Makes me so happy that there are punks still doing this with me and keeping the OG scene symbols alive. I rock yellow laces to support all my colored kings and queens out there!
LACE CODE ISN'T DEAD
AND NEITHER IS PUNK
š¤š§·š¤

Lace code, anyone?
they get it
All folk punk exists on a spectrum of songs that make you feel a sense of belonging youāve suddenly realized youāve been craving your whole life, making you break down in pure joy, and songs that make you so sad you have to stare at a wall for a few hours. And in the corner thereās a completely separate circle that just says āFUCK YEA BANJOS!!!ā

āThings have been getting harder lately.ā
I want an alternative boyfriend.
Yes, because I think the style makes anyone twice as hot instantly.
Yes, because tattoos and hair dye really do something for me.
Yes, because eyeliner is sexy and lip rings are even better.
But it's more than that.
I need someone who will stay up with me at three am watching thriller movies when I'm hearing things and can't sleep.
Someone who will love swapping playlists, and always listen and give detailed feedback to the song recommendations I send him.
Someone I can paint and cut and pin clothes with, patching together garbage jeans that by most people's standards should have been thrown away.
Someone who will love my look and even give me ideas with it. And will steal my crust jackets so I find him curled up in it on the couch.
Someone who will cut and dye hair with me in the early hours of the morning, laughing at the sleep we're both losing.
Someone who will always be my partner in crime for shows, markets, conventions, so I'll never have to go alone.
Someone who doesn't disapprove of my ideals or try to change them, but who will support me in all my decisions and beliefs.
Someone who believes in the individual and not supporting just any large company; a person who understands my lifestyle and wants to help me learn how to live it.
Someone who will thrift with me for hours and hours rummaging for gold, not standing around staring and waiting for me to get done.
Someone who won't tell me I'm "too much" but will feel more attracted to me the more comfortable and confident I am in myself, whatever craziness that looks like.
Someone who loves what I love.
Believes what I believe.
I want someone to entertain my insanity.
Couldn't have said it better myself. Those who face the darkness in themselves will better be able to understand and appreciate the light that is coming. Christian rock is sick as hell and I don't care what anyone saysš¤
Going to see Disciple for the first time, can't wait for the experience!
āWhy do you like Christian Rock? Christian Music is supposed to be joyous, that sounds so painful!ā
Well, sometimes not all music is joyous. Yes, itās wonderful to celebrate Jesus, of course, but sometimes people need him in pain too. If a non-religious person comes to a concert and hears āJesus is wonderful!ā They might not be convinced. But if they hear āListen, I know lifeās hard, and you are upset and you feel like a monster and youāre in the panic room, but thereās hope.ā That might be enough to change their eternity.
When I went to see Disciple in Murphy, there were about 60-70 people there, and 12 accepted Jesus. While that might not seem like much, thatās 12 people who had their lives saved and the place they go when they die is looking up. While acts like TobyMac and For King and Country are absolutely incredible, they celebrate Jesus in every way. But at Skillet and Disciple shows, they have several teens come up to them saying āYour music saved my life.ā While Toby and Joel and Luke are incredible, they canāt reach people the way Christian Rock can. The fact that these singers use a genre filled with agony and songs about death to talk about Jesus is truly something amazing.
I pray and hope that I get to be apart of this industry one day. Iām fired up about Jesus, and itās such a beautiful and powerful thing that not only does music bring people together, and does music bring people to God, but it saves peopleās lives and changes their eternity.
Plus, these performers are CRAZY talented. They have energy, amazing voices with crazy ranges, and can shred guitars and rock the drums like nothing Iāve ever seen.
So thatās why I like Christian Rock. Not just because itās good. But because itās freaking powerful.

Hey punks. You looking for some sick pins and wanna support independent artists? Try the website Redbubble. I just ordered four pins from them and bro I'm so excited for them to come in like sifneofjwonfoenf
"Come work for us! There's opportunities for advancement!" Advancement? PAH! You don't understand Carol, I crawled my way to the bottom and damn if I ain't staying.
I'm so so sorry to break this to you. You're not a punk. Mcr and top and Chr*stianity are not punk. Please...please stop.
Oh, I've been waiting for this...
*cracks knuckles*
First off, what authority do you have to decide what is punk and isn't? By definition a punk is someone who listens to punk music, believes in not selling out and supporting individuality. It's a social movement, not a faith based one.
Punk can go right in line with any religion and many different beliefs. If you're trying to tell people they can't be punk based off of their religion you seem to be pretty intolerant of my lifestyle. That sure as hell ain't punk, just like cussing a homosexual for their personal lifestyle choices ain't punk. Being yourself is punk. Love is punk, and Jesus is love. You can't argue with that. Jesus sat with and loved on the broken nobodies of our society and spit on the organized religions of His time. What's more punk than that?!
And as far as music, yes I love TOP and MCR! I'm also obsessed with the Front Bottoms and love me some good Showbread every now and then. If you took a few minutes to check my bio and Google those bands, you'd see one is hardcore punk and one is folk punk. You seem to not know your shit my man, especially to be going around policing other people minding their own business. I'm new to the punk scene and still learning the music and whatnot. If you were a true punk veteran, you'd be hyping up my learning process and giving me band recommendations instead of trying to police strangers on the Internet.
And all that being said, you don't know me! How can you judge someone you don't know? Blows my mind. Going around calling people posers, judging people and not respecting others is the least punk you can be. You wanna call people out to feel better about your own shortcomings? Go punch some "punk" Nazis and be useful at least.
Being bold is punk. You weren't even bold enough to leave your own username up, anon. Ha.
I was raised Christian apolitical/anarchist so it's a bit different, but fairly similar. I started dressing different in middle school and it was a BATTLE, let me tell you. People believe what they believe and most of the time they won't change their views unless they come to a different conclusion themselves. In your arguments I would express (and have expressed to my own parents in the past) how God made us all different. There's three parts of us: our soul, our flesh (sinful nature) and the Holy Spirit (if you're saved). So if you have a desire or inclination towards something and it's not sinful, where did it come from? God made you so he must have put that desire there Himself! Individuality and Christianity are not enemies. They go hand in hand. If God wanted us to all be the same person and look the same, he would have made us that way!
Express your reasons for wanting to dress this way as well. A lot of conservative minded people think alt ppl like us are just attention seekers so that may be their mindset. Let them know it's not and let them know why you feel connection to alt culture/fashion.
And if all else fails and they're unreasonable, stop trying to convince them and show them. Be a good kid, don't do drugs, don't do bad things and slowly introduce the things you want: a choker here, a pair of black skinnies there, a darker than usual blouse. Show them it's not gonna corrupt or change you and you're still the same person, just in a darker shade. Hope it works out for you š¤
genuinely need advice and help
my parents are neurotypical and conservative Christians and are really strict, and I need help figuring out how to talk to them that will actually get through to them
how does one go to their parents and explain that they'd like the ability to have bodily autonomy and have the choice to choose how they dress/accessorise/look because it's their right and they're not a kid anymore and they'd like the freedom to be able to express themself more openly through their preferred style (punk/emo/goth/alt style stuff) RESPECTFULLY???
because the only things I can come up with currently are reasonable, straightforward, and logical, but ive tried that way before and what seems perfectly reasonable to me, they seem to always believe the opposite, so thats not gonna get me anywhere and it will more likely than not start a fight match because "im being disrespectful and rude" and "why cant i just be happy with the freedom that i have? my parents are trying, but this is hard for them :("
I'm really trying to avoid fighting with them, but I'm so tired and fed up with their BS
if anyone has any suggestions, please help
In a world where it's not on trend to live a Christian lifestyle, I would like to see my generation become some of the most radical, Jesus loving FREAKS of all time.
There was a time I felt the need to hide my faith. I felt it didn't fit me and was an out of place aspect of my identity. Felt the need to seperate myself from my Jesus because you can't be A, B or C and be Christian... right? I was so wrong. I was wrong to think I must deny my individuality to be a follower of Christ or deny my Christ to be an individual.
I was ashamed of Christ in all His glory, but He was not ashamed of me in all my filth. He is proud to call me child as I should be proud to call Him Father. I am now.
In the Bible, demons knew Paul by name. Young brothers and sisters in Christ... let us live our lives so that we never have any doubt whether Hell fears us.
"But whosever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in Heaven." Matthew 10:33

"Plants will grow on the ashes of capitalism"

YES. THIS.
I went into a Pizza Hutt the other day and the cook had obviously put in his favorite rap cd because he was BUSTING IT UP in the kitchen. He and the wait staff were just dancing around having a great time and the food and service was still fantastic! I wish all establishments could be like that. Screw strict management fr.

If the government is the only thing stopping you, it may be time to look inwardš¶š¶š¶
Person: "With Anarchy, there's nothing to stop me from murdering and raping people, that's why we need government." Me:

It's so bizarre to me that I never see anyone talking about or addressing this, so I will.
TX2 is a popular upcoming emo/pop punk artist. He is phenomenal singer, has a great sound- mountains of potential. There's a couple songs by him I enjoy. However, all that being said, he makes me sick.
He makes frequent jokes about depression and self harm on his YouTube channel- creating skits that treat these real and horrible issues like humor. While doing this he also fuels the stigma of associating the emo subculture with self harm.
He is releasing a song called "Walking Dead Man." The subject of it is a friend of his that died of an overdose. Needless to say, this is a very deep and sensitive topic. The loss of a soul should be revered and honored. Every decent person can agree it's a serious conversation to have. Not a joke.
Yet here he is, releasing comedy skits centered around the song with captions like "IS THIS THE SADDEST EMO SONG OF ALL TIME?!" It's disgusting. One of these skits showed a friend of his listening to it and responding "I think I have depression!"
What an oversimplification and invalidation of mental illness. Also during these skits he makes comments like "You're not emo if you've never hurt yourself!" If this is supposed to be satire, it is not clear enough. I chalked it up as an attempt at satire and self depreciation humor until the release of his recent skits on the topic of overdose. It's disrespectful, it's hurtful and it's toxic.
Another thing that bothers me is a song of his called "Randy McNally (No Love Like Christian Hate." I think the title alone says enough, but I'll continue.
I would like to start this discussion by directly quoting the lyrics of the song:
"There's no love like Christian hate. Let's all count down 'till judgment day."
"I know you want us fags to burn in flames."
"Put a bullet in a kid's head, they think they got the sickness if they're not dressed up straight."
I don't talk about politics much on here because I'm an Anarchist. I believe that it's best to stay out of that mess and most productive to work on changing the world how you can in your own life, without the involvement of government. Now, that being said, you already know how I feel about politicians. I'm not at all familiar with the politician he is speaking of here. That's not what I have an issue with. What I have an issue with is this MASSIVE generalization!
He's accusing my people of hate when he's the one releasing a song disrespecting me and my Jesus! There's one verse where he says in a mocking tone "Do you think Jesus loves me?"
YES TX2, I DO!
I'm aware there are Christians who act hateful towards the LGBTQ community. Some Christians believe homosexuality is moral and some believe it isn't. Regardless of what you believe, there's two main commandments God gives us in the Bible. Everything about our lifestyle can be summed up in two rules: Love God and love each other. So the people wanting to shoot gay boys for wearing a skirt? They're not true Christians. The Bible strictly forbids murder in the ten commandments. That's not Christianity! That's using my Jesus to justify your violence.
And by the way, I'm a big supporter for cross dressing. I wear suits and whatnot all the time, it's what I feel best in, and I think everyone (gay or straight!) should wear what they feel best in.
Now, there are Christians and Muslims alike who respectfully don't participate in or don't support homosexual people's lifestyles. That isn't hate. There's nothing hateful about choosing not to participate in something for religious reasons IF you do not hurt or be hateful towards those who do. It's all about mutual respect. If people choose not to support LGBTQ in order to better serve their God and live their life, you need to respect it. Just like Christians and Muslims should respect the fact that some people are attracted to the same sex or have pronouns that are not typical "he" or "she."
So, in summary, he is recklessly defending trans rights yet he is being disrespectful towards and dumbing down the struggles of the mentally ill. He is propagating and worsening already crippling stereotypes for both Christians and emos, all the while acting like some social justice savior. You don't have to bring some groups of people down to lift other groups up.
Equality, not revenge. Love, not hate.
That's true social justice.
That's uncensored, raw, authentic punk.
That's what I believe.
In this world? Christians are the real rebels.
