Few pamphlet games reach levels of eye candy like this beauty, and this is one of the welcome cases where the content is on par with the aesthetics. A minimalist approach to Forged in the Dark games meant to be played in a single session, it not only manages it, but also offers an insight on how to simplify most games based on the same mechanics. The expanded version available only to backers (at the time of this post) offers a really entertaining way to frame a campaign within this system, and adds a few options that give a whole other depth to the base game. Mechanics-wise, as I already mentioned, it's a FitD game, but splits Approaches, that are also used to Resist, from Skills that are added when relevant. Cyberware is gear that follows slightly different rules, and Glitches are an interesting and flavorful implementation of conditions and drawbacks in line with the game's minimalist spirit.
Pochi giochi a opuscolo sono attraenti come questa bellezza e in questo caso il contenuto è anche all'altezza della confezione. Un approccio minimalista ai Forged in the Dark pensato per essere giocato in una singola sessione, non solo riesce nel suo intento, ma offre anche molti spunti su come semplificare molti giochi basati su quella stessa meccanica. La versione estesa, attualmente disponibile solo ai backer (al momento di questa pubblicazione), aggiunge una interessante struttura per giocarci una campagna e anche una serie di opzioni che danno tutta un'altra profondità al gioco di base. Le meccaniche, come già menzionato, sono FitD, ma separa gli Approcci, usati anche per Resistere, dalle Abilità che sono loro sommate quando rilevanti. La cibernetica è equipaggiamento che segue regole leggermente differenti e i Glitch sono una interessante e peculiare variante di condizioni e svantaggi in linea con lo spirito minimalista del gioco.
