A Fiancé for Christmas | Best friend!Hoseok

Summary line: Christmas prompt #8 - Character A’s ex will be at the Christmas Party A is attending. Character B poses as A’s fiance.

Namjoon | Seokjin | Yoongi | Hoseok | Jimin | Taehyung | Jungkook

~

“Take a deep breath, Y/N. It will be over soon.” You breathe as you look at yourself in the mirror. You bought a new red dress to hide the fact that you still feel like an absolute mess when you go to tonight’s Christmas Eve party. But this isn’t just any Christmas Eve party. This is the first Christmas Eve party since your boyfriend of two years since college graduation is no longer by your side all night. Instead, he’ll be by the side of another woman at the same Christmas Eve party; if you’re lucky, he’ll be on the other side of the room at all times.

You wish you could say no to tonight’s festivities; but when you left the Christmas Eve party last year, you already promised to attend this one, hosted by both you and your ex’s common friend again. It took Taehyung a whole lot of begging for you to come to the party and he’s too sweet of a friend for you to give him the ultimatum it’s either him or me.

“Bring a date!” He suggested. Right, because it’s that easy. If I was lucky enough to get a date, or even a boyfriend, do you think I would have any qualms about showing up now? You think to yourself.

But as luck would have it –

Ring ring

“This is going to end in a ball of fire.” You mumble to yourself as you make your way to the door. You open up to see Hoseok dressed to the nines with a matching red tie.

“Wow. You look really nice!” You smile genuinely for the first time tonight. Hoseok steps in to your home as he adjusts his tie.

“And you look absolutely stunning in that red dress. God forbid any other woman in this world dress in red tonight, because you’d just put them all to shame.” He shouts, making you laugh. That’s what best friends do.

“I don’t know if I can do this, Hoseok. If I see him, I’m just going to feel pathetic. I have to drag my best friend into this party just to get through it while my ex has women lined up like some sort of beauty pageant, waiting to be his date.” You drop down to the arm rest of your couch and look down at your red heels. You feel Hoseok’s hands cradle your face to look up at him.

“Y/N, my job tonight will make you feel nothing but the Christmas spirit and relief that you cut ties with that guy four months ago. Tonight, pathetic won’t even exist in our world. My job is to make you shine and make him feel pathetic because he lost the best girl he can ever find.” His words brought tears to the corner of your eyes and he wipes them.

“Thank you, Hoseok.” You choke.

“Okay. Enough of this. I’ve got something that will really ruin him up tonight.” Hoseok kneels down on one knee in front of you and puts his hand in his coat pocket to pull a little black jewelry box out.

“Hoseok…”

“Y/N, will you do me the honor of being my fiancée tonight?” Hoseok opens up the jewelry box to show you a beautiful diamond ring and a matching male version.

“Are you kidding me, Hoseok?!” How can he surprise you like this right before you two go to the party? Where did he even get this?

“Well, that’s definitely the last reaction any guy would hope for when they propose to someone to be their fiancée…even if it is just for one night.” Hoseok frowns.

“Hoseok, I only asked you to be my date. I don’t need to show him up. I’m lucky if I can just make it through the night without drowning in alcohol. Not only will people see through this act, how do you expect us to play the part right?” You stand up. He stands up with you.

“Y/N, if I didn’t think I could pull this off with you, I wouldn’t have suggested this. Let me do the work and you just go with the flow.” He swipes your cheek with his thumb to comfort you.

“Hoseok, this is a bad idea…” You shiver. He is a guy talented in the arts in many forms, including some basic acting, but you’re not. You can’t promise anyone that you can have the confidence to convince people you’re engaged.

“Y/N, he needs to regret every moment his arms are wrapped around another woman. I need him to regret every moment. Cheating on you with multiple women is nothing less than an unspeakable sin. How dare anyone ever hurt my best friend?! I want his year to end with guilt and regret he can never get rid of.” You raise your eyebrows at his passion to make your ex feel pain.

“But I also need you to feel comfortable and happy tonight. If you don’t want to do this, I won’t force you.” Hoseok closes the box and stuffs it back in his pocket. He takes your hand and smiles. He leads you out the door without another word. You’re not sure if Hoseok is unhappy that you won’t play the part with him. You don’t understand why he would though. Either way, you feel kind of bad that his effort is wasted.

You two stand outside the door. You two can hear the Christmas music and the bustling inside behind the walls. You look like a rabbit caught in a trap.

Hoseok looks at you, “Are you okay, Y/N?” He interlaces his fingers with yours. You take a deep breath before you turn to him. You shove your hand into his pocket and take out the box. He watches you take the ring out. Before you put it on yourself, Hoseok takes it from you.

Before you can protest your confusion, he takes your hand and slowly slides it onto your finger himself. You look up at him and his face is absolutely gentle and happy. He takes the male version and slides it on himself without another word.

He comes closer to press a kiss on your forehead.

“We can do this, Y/N. You can do this.” His lips are still pressed against your forehead as he rings the doorbell. In a couple moments, you hear the turning of the door knob and the door opening. Light floods onto you and Hoseok as he slowly pulls his lips away from your forehead. You turn with a slightly embarrassed look on your face to see Taehyung with a surprised but happy face.

“Y/N! You made it! And who is this?” You two step into the door and Hoseok helps you remove your coat.

“I’m Hoseok, her fiancé.”

You look at Taehyung to see his reaction. His eyes are wide as he looks between you and Hoseok.

“Would you excuse us for once second?” Taehyung wheels you away from Hoseok before you can turn back to look at him.

“Y/N, are you in trouble? Is he threatening you?”

“What?”

“How come I’ve never heard of him before? Is he a loan shark and he’s just hanging by your side until you pay up? How much is it? I can help you out.”

“Taehyung,” you laugh, “I’m fine. He’s my f-fiancé.”

“Y/N,” he looks at you tenderly, “No one will think that you’re pathetic if you tell me it’s not real.” Taehyung is a lot smarter than you thought, but you really can’t drop the act when you’ve only been here for less than five minutes.

“Hey, it’s not hard to believe that I can be engaged, is it? Really. I just didn’t really tell anyone because, well, it happened only a couple days ago. And we’ve only dated for four months. I didn’t want people to look at us weird for getting engaged so early.” You spun your tale so easily, you’re not even sure how you did it.

After convincing Taehyung, he brings you back to the entrance, where Hoseok is already conversing with other people with drinks in his hand. He gives you a smile and hands you one.

“Hey. Sorry, I didn’t properly introduce myself. I’m Taehyung, host of the party. You’re Y/N’s fiancé, right? Wow. How long have you two been engaged?” You look up at Taehyung. He was double checking your story.

“Just for a couple days. We never really announced it because she’s scared people looks at her weird for being engaged since we only dated for four months.” You took a sip of your drink as you heard Hoseok spin the same tale to hide your shock. You’re shocked that his story matches yours perfectly.

Taehyung looks at the two of you one more time before shrugging, “Okay. Good enough for me. Enjoy yourselves guys!” Taehyung weaves his way through the crowd and disappears out of your sight.

You feel your shoulders drop and Hoseok put a hand at the small of your back to let you sink.

“How the hell did you know that’s the same thing I said to him earlier?”

“I didn’t. But I guessed he was asking for the story and what you would say. That’s just luck.”

“Oh my God. That was so close.” You relax and put your head against his chest.

“I’ll make it easy for you, sweetheart. You don’t even have to do anything. Just shine and I will hold you up.” He whispers in your ear. His breath is warmer than the crowd and the fire burning in the fireplace in the corner.

For over half of the night, you enjoy yourself without having to think about your ex. Hoseok is a wonderful date, and an even better fiancé. He kept you smiling all night and fit right into the crowd with everyone else. He is the epitome of a gentleman. You couldn’t have asked for anyone better to be with you tonight, and to even play this part. As of now, everyone you two met believes in your tale and sees you as someone who is better off without your ex.

You think it’s the eggnog talking, but every time Hoseok’s kisses land on your cheek, forehead, the back of your hand, or any other chaste areas, you get tingles. You realize that you’re secretly hoping for his lips to be somewhere else on your face.

Your eyes start to glaze over as you look up to him as he charms his way through everyone you two are talking to. You admire his charisma to hold the conversation. Every time someone compliments you, your dress, or how cute you two are, he adds on compliments towards you without acting like a try-hard. It seems effortless for him.

Hoseok is brushing his fingers through your hair and leans in close to your ear. You close your eyes in hopes for anything other than his next whispered words, “He’s here.”

Your eyes shoot open and you begin to pull away to look but Hoseok puts a hand at the back of your neck to keep you there.

“Don’t look. You don’t even register that he’s here. It doesn’t even matter to you since you’re with your fiancé.” Hoseok prepares your mood like a screenplay.

“Y/N, I didn’t mean to surprise you earlier with the rings, but I don’t want to surprise you now. I’m telling you right now, I’m going to kiss you. Don’t freak out, sweetheart. I’m just your fiancé kissing you. This kiss is going to make every man here feel bad they’re not with you. Please don’t pull away.” He moves his head back away from against your ear but leans in again to press his lips against yours.

Your eyes close as you feel his lips moving against yours. Your lips move with his like a dance, but it’s nothing compared to the dance his tongue makes when he slips it into your mouth. Heat runs through the course of your body and you lean in closer. He wraps his arms around your waist to support you because your knees are literally going weak.

“Ahem.” You two almost pull away, but you can’t help but chase Hoseok’s lips one more time before really pulling away.

You turn your head to glare at anyone who dares disturb you just now, but it shocks you to see your ex.

“Oh, hi Yeonseok.” You greet your ex as his eyes zone down to the hand Hoseok has on your waist.

“Hi Y/N. Hoseok.”

“Hi.” Hoseok greets. He still sounds polite, but the grip on your waist tells you that he’s nowhere near feeling polite.

“So, rumor has it that you’re engaged…” Yeonseok probes. Hoseok takes your hand to kiss the back of it and then rub the ring on your finger, “And the rumors are true. We’re engaged.”

“Wow. Isn’t that kind of fast? I mean, we broke up four months ago, but we’ve dated for two years. I would have thought that I deserved a longer mourning period.”

“A longer mourning period? You’re lucky if you got any. That privilege was lost when you decided to cheat on me, and not with just one woman. If you think our two years was that important, that special, you wouldn’t have cheated.” You spit.

Hoseok’s hand that’s around your waist moves back a bit to rub your lower back a little to help relax you. You push back down the urge to cry. Rather, you feel a fire; but that could still be the alcohol burning in your system.

“I’m sorry, Y/N.”

“Save it. The moment you left me, Hoseok was there to pick up the pieces while you pick up other women. Even in our two years together, you neglected the fact that my value was worth more than all the women you ever had sex with in these past four months. You’re not sorry, or else it wouldn’t take you so long to say it to me the moment you hear that I’m with someone else. I’m better off now: without you. Good evening.” You pull Hoseok with you and leave Yeonseok standing there.

“Y/N, that was incredible! I’m so proud of you.” Hoseok beams as you grab another champagne glass to chug down.

“Woah, girl, slow down there.” Hoseok tips back the glass away from you to see your tears starting to well up in your eyes. Hoseok’s expression change. He puts down the glass and leads you away to somewhere with less people.

When you get to the hallway, you pull on Hoseok’s suit close to you as your tears started to fall. You attempt to cover the sounds of your sobbing by pulling yourself closer into his chest. Hoseok wraps his arms around you and sways you back and forth. His cheek presses down on the top of your head. He runs his fingers through your hair with one hand and the other one rubs your back.

“You did it. You were so brave. You are brave. I – I’m just so proud at how you handled it. You did better than you expected, didn’t you? You started out tonight scared and nervous, but you own tonight. I expected that you would do just fine, and you didn’t let me down. You’re okay now, Y/N.” He soothes you. Your tears no longer fall, but your breathing is still unstable.

“You know…I had a whole speech ready too. I wanted to add in my two cents to make him regret even more, but you were able to do it all on your own. I was going to tell him that I was actually in love with you for years. I want to tell him that everything I love about you, everything that he’s missing now. I want to talk about how now I get to wake up beside you every morning and it’s better than any sunrise I have, and ever will, witness. I want thank him that because of his stupid mistakes, I was able to make the best decision I could ever make in my life. But I won’t. Because what he did hurt you and despite how we all end up, him hurting you is not okay with me. I want to tell him that I couldn’t wait to make you mine, that I bought these rings the moment he left you because I was so sure that I need you, and that I would make you mine. I want to him to go home sad and alone like the rest of his miserable life. And,” he puts his finger under your chin to tilt it up to look at him in the eyes, “I want to tell you right now that everything I just said is true.”

You can’t speak. How can you? How can you say anything after his confession when all you wanted to say to him was thank you for being here with you and suggest that you two go home and watch Christmas movies and drink some hot cocoa. Now, your mind is only filled with his words.

“Y/N?” He whispers. He recognizes the look in your eyes is anything but rejection. It makes his mouth twitch into a smile, to see that his words have rendered you speechless.

“You want to get out of here? We can go back to your place and watch some Christmas movies? Actually, let’s go back to mine. I’ve got some really good cocoa.” God, he just knows you so well.

He looks at your hand and brings it up to rub your hand as he stares at the ring.

“I know I said that I bought these for us, but I know it’s too fast to wear them for real. I don’t mean to make you feel obligated to wear it for more than just tonight. It’s your choice when you will want to wear this…or if you ever want to wear this. But I’m telling you now that this ring is still yours regardless. Legit, ‘cause look, I got your name in there!” He moves to remove the ring on your finger but you stop him. You might not want to wear it for real right now, but you know you don’t want to take it off just yet. He looks at you expectantly.

You lean up to kiss him and he immediately drops your hand to bring your face closer. He presses himself so close to you that he backs you up against the wall. Between him and the wall, you’re still not close enough. He brings one hand down to your waist to pull you closer against him and you wrap your arms around his neck.

Who knows how long you two were there making out, but it’s long enough for you two to hear people start chanting the countdown to midnight. And last you checked, it was a long while before that.

3…2…1…

He pulls away to breathe out, “Merry Christmas.”

I imagine Hoseok is the kind of boyfriend whose favorite part of Christmas is dancing with you to romantic Christmas songs while it snows and Christmas lights are reflected off of the windows

6 Hours 'Til Christmas | Yoongi

Summary line: Christmas prompt #18 - Character A and Character B have to save Christmas.

Namjoon | Seokjin | Yoongi | Hoseok | Jimin | Taehyung | Jungkook

~

Yoongi rolls over in his bed and groans as his phone rings for the fifth time in a row.

Whoever is calling me before I’m ready to be up is dead to me now. He opens his eyes in a glare at his phone ringing and vibrating. Without looking at the contact person, he slams his hand down on his phone to grab it and swipe the call to take it.

“What?!” He growls. He hears your voice squeak and his expression turns soft, but his voice is still a little rough, “Y/N? Why are you calling me at,” He looks at the time and sheepishly continues, “…4pm?”

“I’m sorry. But you’re the closest person I know who has a big enough car…” You start. He sighs. Sounds like an errand.

“What do you want?” He asks straightforwardly.

“Um…my family is surprising me by flying in to spend the holidays. B-but, you know, I didn’t really expect them, so I didn’t feel the need to dress my home in Christmas spirit. I don’t want to ruin their Christmas…so…”

“You need a Christmas tree, decorations, and stockings, am I right? Do you have Christmas lights?” He asks as he sits up. He rubs his face when you answer no.

“What time do they come in?”

“They’ll be here in 6 hours.” His eyes widen and he groans. He lies back on his bed.

“Y/N, I’ll be at your house in 20 minutes. At 20 minutes sharp, I want you outside with a thermos of coffee, black and 2 sugars. Okay? Start looking up where you’re going to get your stockings, decorations, and lights.” He can practically hear you nodding before you remember he can’t see you. You mumble your agreement and he ends the call. He sighs and gets up.

As he promised, he shows up at your home in 20 minutes. At the same time, he sees you coming out from the stairs to your apartment with a thermos in hand.

When you get inside his truck, he reaches for the thermos before you can close the door and he takes a long sip of the coffee.

“Okay,” He pants as he tips the thermos back and closes it. He puts it in the cup holder and drives off.

“We’re going to get the tree first. It’s two days before Christmas so I’m pretty sure your choices are more limited than limited. Where are we getting the stuff? And you already got your family presents, right?” He asks as he turns the corner onto the main road.

“Yeah. We can get the stuff at the discount retailer nearby. We can get them on our way home after we get the tree.” You say as you double check on the store’s website for their stock count, “And I bought my family presents a long time ago. I shipped it to them, but they’re bringing it over so we can all open our presents together.”

He says nothing. You put your hands in your lap and you lower your head, “Thanks for helping me.”

Yoongi just grunts and he takes another sip of the coffee.

You two arrive at a plain field where a fence surrounds five Christmas trees that have already been pre-cut. You two get out and he follows you inside the boundaries to take a look at the trees.

“Um.” You study the different trees. They’re similar in heights; not too tall, but not short either. At least they will surpass you two and your family’s heights. You feel lucky enough that these are your choices. You eliminate the shortest one, the thinnest one, and the one where the top is starting to look bare.

“Of these two, which one do you think is good?” You ask Yoongi. He was looking elsewhere, but he turns to the trees now with a bored look. He gestures to one of them, “That one.”

“Why?” You ask. You were leaning towards that tree too, but you wanted a second opinion.

“Do you want to discuss why and give yourself second thoughts, or do you want to get it home before you family shows up?” You purse your lips together and nod. You two go find the man in charge to take it home.

After you two bundled the tree with the help of the business man, you two make your way to the store to get the stockings, lights, and tree decorations.

“I’ll get the lights and the stockings. You go choose your decorations.” Yoongi splits off without another word.

“Try to get purple or white lights if you can!” You shout to him as he’s quickly making his way down the lanes.

“Beggars can’t be choosers!” He shouts back.

Nevertheless, he makes his way to the lane with all the lights, scanning for purple or white. There’s green and blue. But no purple or white.

He frowns and makes his way out of the lane to see a store helper walking by.

“Excuse me. I’m sorry. Do you have any more lights in the back, purple or white?” He gives a sweet and polite smile at the girl.

“Oh.” She pauses just to stare at him, “I’m sorry, I think this is all we have.”

“Can you please check? I’m trying to save Christmas for my girlfriend here.” He spins the story, with a little white lie. You’re the girl, but he’s just the friend.

Her expression changes when she thinks he’s taken, “O-oh. Okay. I’ll be right back.” She makes her way to the back. He checks the other two lanes for stockings and chooses a couple of red, green, and white ones. They’re plain, but it’ll have to do. He stays in front of the staff only doors to wait for the girl.

She comes back out with three boxes in her arms.

“These are all I can find. These two are 50 bulbs of purple, and this is 100 bulbs of white.” He takes them from her arms.

“Thank you so much. Merry Christmas.” He darts off to the decorations lane and she watches him go as she muses to herself, “Lucky girl.”

He skims through the lanes and finally finds you with four ornament sets, two sets of purple orbs and two sets of cute ornaments of different shapes and figures, and silver tinsel.

“You’re lucky. These are the last on the shelf.” He raises up the boxes of lights in his hand as evidence. You grunt your thank you as you reach up the shelves.

You’re just about to grab the star at the top shelf, but he comes over and grabs one for you.

“Not that one. The one on the right.” He glares at you. You look at him with an apologetic look and he sighs. He puts the star down and grabs the one you want.

“Ready?” He asks. You look at him and nod. You two go to the check out.

You have two hours before you go pick your parents up at the airport. You search up their flight number to keep track of when they land as Yoongi sits your Christmas tree on the most spacious corner of your house and plants it in the Christmas tree stand.

Yoongi takes out all the decorations and lights from the boxes as you take them from him and start decorating. You two work together to make the best Christmas tree you possibly can. There are not enough lights, but you two tried to spread it out as much as you can, but close enough so that the gaps don’t feel so empty.

Since you bought so many ornaments, you don’t want to overdo your Christmas tree so you choose some to hang around your house. You hand over the leftover ones to Yoongi for him to put up around your house. You grab some arts and crafts glitter glue to write your family members’ names on the stockings.

As you write, Yoongi completes his task and takes your computer to check the time.

“You have 45 minutes left before we leave. Anything else?”

“Uh,” You start without looking up from your work, “Can you check if I have any easy bake cookie dough or something? I should have some cookie cutters on my third drawer at the end. And some hot chocolate, I’m pretty sure I have some.”

He hums and searches up Spotify and finds a playlist for you to put on some Christmas music. You look up at smile at him and he returns a smile to you for the first time today. He goes to the kitchen to look at your holiday food inventory.

“You have one box of cookie dough and not enough hot chocolate to serve your whole family for…how long are they staying?” He asks.

“5 days. I thought I had more hot chocolate.” You say as you complete 2 out 3 stockings. You paste some decorative things on your stockings as well.

“You probably drink it all.” He says as he comes back from the kitchen.

“Probably.” You blush.

“Well, we still have a little time to make it to the store. We’ll pick up some food and get your family. You’re going to have to make it after you come home.”

You sigh and get up, stick a star on the last stocking. You hang up all three on a blank wall.

“Okay. Let’s go.” You grab your coat and leave with him. The Christmas music is still playing.

After grabbing some snickerdoodles, both store-bought and premade dough, hot chocolate, candy canes and mint chocolates for the stockings, and double-stocked on hot chocolate, you two finally make way to the airport.

Yoongi makes a couple of rounds around the airport while you go in to meet up with your family.

Yoongi gets a call from you to notify him that you finally got a hold of your parents and you’re making your way out.

“Here we go.” He mumbles to himself as he makes a slow crawl down the road to find you and slide in against the sidewalk closest to you and your family. He’s never met your family, so it’ll be the first time.

He sees you flagging him down with your parents and your brother behind you with their luggage.

He parks the car on the side to come out and open the truck’s rear end. He overhears your conversation with your parents.

“He’s Yoongi, my friend. He’s the closest friend I know who owns a car big enough to hold a – uh, your luggage.” You explain to your family as you help your mom roll her luggage over to Yoongi who smiles and greets everyone as he takes the luggage to put it in.

“Hello Yoongi, I’m Y/N’s father, Y/F/N.” Your father extends his hand out to shake Yoongi’s hand. Yoongi returns the greeting and meets with your father’s firm handshake with just as much firmness.

“Y/M/N.” Your mother introduces herself.

“Please to meet you.” Yoongi shakes her hand as well.

“I’m Jimin, her little brother.” Jimin lifts his hand in a short wave.

“Alright. We’re ready to go.” You clasp your hands together. Your father watches you as you slide into the passenger’s seat as naturally as you do.

At your home, rather than shooing Yoongi away, you invite him to stay for a while. It’s the least you can do as far as tonight goes after all that he’s done for you today. While your family embraces the warmth of your home, Yoongi stays in the kitchen to prepare the tray of cookies.

“Y/N, what does Yoongi do for a living?” Your father asks you out of nowhere. You pause your arm stretch for your cup of hot chocolate.

“He does music. Why?” You ask.

“That’s his major?” He interrogates further. You hear a little hostility in his voice.

“N-no. He dropped out of college after his first year. He’s been supporting himself through his music. He’s quite popular in the underground hip hop community.”

“Underground hip hop?” Jimin pipes up, “That’s cool.” Your father gives Jimin a disapproving look for interrupting before turning back to you.

“I don’t know if I like the idea of my daughter dating some guy who’s unstable with his career, and in underground hip hop of all.”

“Wait a second, dad. What’s wrong with hip hop? And when did I ever say he’s unstable? He’s been doing this for years and he’s making a good name for himself right now. I mean, you’ve seen his truck. He bought that on his own.”

“Yeah, but he doesn’t have the education that will be his back up if he fails. Music careers aren’t known to support anyone other than the musician himself.”

“He’s not going to fail, dad. And he’s a very responsible person.” You said definitively.

“Hey, Y/N,” You all turn to see Yoongi at the entry way between your living room and the kitchen, “I’ve put the cookies in the oven already. I set the egg timer for you. I’m gonna go now. It’s been a long day. Merry Christmas, everyone. Please, enjoy your night.” He quickly makes a break for his shoes at your home’s entry way and leaves.

“Nice going, dad. He probably heard you. You know, since you three decided to surprise me with your visit, I actually didn’t have my home decorated at all. Not even a candy cane in the house. I told him six hours before your arrival that I wanted to decorate my home because I know how much you guys like the holiday spirit. He drove me everywhere to find the right tree, the lights, stockings, cookies, hot chocolate, and to pick you up. And you know what? He bought the tree, as a Christmas gift for all of us. He doesn’t have his own family to spend Christmas with. His parents kicked him out when they heard he wanted to pursue his passion in music as a career, kind of like what you’re doing right now.” You get up and go after Yoongi, leaving your family inside.

You run down the stairs to see Yoongi’s car already started. You quickly open the passenger’s side and hop in.

“Yoongi, I’m so sorry for my family. My dad doesn’t mean to judge so quickly. He normally doesn’t, not even with my previous boyfriends. He’s a lot more open-minded than you think. Just give him a chance.”

“Why?” He stuns you with his question.

“W-what do you mean ‘why?’” You ask.

“Why are you so afraid that we don’t like each other?” Yoongi turns to you. He doesn’t smile or anything, but his eyes show amusement.

“Well, you’re my friend. And he’s my dad. I’d hate for two important people in my life to not like each other.” You explain.

“I don’t think that’s all of it, Y/N.” He turns off his car, “You know, I heard every word upstairs. One thing stuck out to me though.” You hold your breath when he leans closer to you.

“You never denied that we’re dating. And did you just try to comfort me through examples of your dad liking your previous boyfriends?” You blink at him and bite your lip, unsure of what you can say.

He looks down at your lips and smirks. He raises his hand up to your cheek and extends his thumb to stroke your lips.

“I believe you about your dad. I know myself. I’m pretty sure he’ll warm up to me. Like his good little daughter did.” He leans closer.

“I believe in you, Yoongi.” You whisper as he closes in.

“I know. Thank you.” Yoongi’s lips finally meet yours and you sigh into the kiss. He brings his hand to the back of your head to pull you closer to him, deepening the kiss.

You two hear a knock on Yoongi’s side window. You two break the kiss to see your dad. You bite your lips again and blush furiously as Yoongi lowers the window.

“Hello, sir.” Your father looks back and forth between you two.

“Kids,” he mumbles to himself before he looks at Yoongi, “I apologize for my behavior earlier. I just never heard about you, or met you no less, so I asked the basics without getting to know you. Thank you for helping my daughter get ready for Christmas in her home. Would you like to come back up for some of those cookies you baked?”

Yoongi turns back to you and you smile at him with a look that says, told you.

“I’d be honored, sir.” Yoongi nods.

“There’s not much honor, boy.” Your father laughs, “You baked them. We are more honored than you are for coming into a home of warmth.”

Your father starts walking away before turning back, “I expect my daughter to come up really soon. So quit making out for now.”

You groan in embarrassment when your dad goes back up to your home and Yoongi laughs for the first time tonight and pats you on the back.

“I like your dad.”

“I’m sure. My exes tend to like him. He’s a lot cooler when you get to know him more. Soon, you’re going to like him more than you like me.” You groan and drop your head.

He lifts your head back up to kiss you, “That’s very unlikely. I’m not gonna kiss him.”

Turn Up Trumps | Office!Seokjin

Summary line: Christmas prompt #1 - Character A and Character B, sworn enemies, are chosen to prepare the company Christmas party.

Namjoon | Seokjin | Yoongi | Hoseok | Jimin | Taehyung | Jungkook

~

“It’s an absolute nightmare!” You protest over the phone to your friend.

Namjoon chuckles at you, “You can always say no, you know?”

“No, I can’t.” You groan and slouch over your office desk, “He says if I do this, he’ll let me do the pitch.”

“That’s not fair.” Namjoon frowns.

“Tell me about it. But this is my first possible opportunity to show my work to the client and prove my worth. I’ve been here for two years. I’m even training new recruits!” You whine into the mouthpiece as quiet as you possibly can, “If I can build a good portfolio with my own projects that gets recognized, I can get out of here with a good name to use for myself.”

“Yeah. I know. It’s about time you leave this hell-hole. You’re wasted here.”

“You’re telling me.” You snort.

“But hey, while you’re looking at opportunities, use it as your strength to get through working with him.” You wrinkle your nose and sit up at Namjoon’s suggestion.

“You’d think that’s a good enough motivation. But it really, really isn’t.” You shake your head. You see him bobbing down towards you quickly.

“I got to go. The hellhound has arrived.” You end the call just as you hear Namjoon’s laugh.

“Tell me it isn’t true.” Seokjin arrives to your desk with eyes widened with disbelief.

“You better believe it, buster. We’re partners.” You fake a smile. He rolls his eyes and puts a hand on his hip.

“No. Nope. I can’t work with you. You have the worst ideas on this entire floor!”

“You’re controlling, nit-picky, and close-minded.” You shoot back.

He sighs and leans against your cubicle wall, “I don’t know how we’re going to get along long enough to prepare the Christmas party.”

~•~

You sigh and you’re about ready to flush, but you hear people opening doors and giggling.

“So I heard the pot has over ten thousand now.” You’re at the very last stall and there are six. For the two women, they enter two and three, so they don’t realize there’s anyone there.

“Yeah? What are the options?”

“So 1) Seokjin controls the plans, 2) Y/N controls the plans,” You perk up at both your names. What plans?

“3) it ends in a ball of flames, or 4) they actually work together for once and make the best damn Christmas party we’ve ever had.” Your eyes widen and your head whips to the direction of the voices.

“Who was the idiot to suggest option 4, much less bet on it?”

“No one,” the other giggles, “it’s just there for shits and giggles; just to see if there are any takers on it. I think someone is trying to open another option to bet any of the first three to happen instead of that.”

“Wouldn’t that defeat the purpose of having options 1-3?”

“It’s still just going to be there for shits and giggles.” They finish their business and leave the stalls.

“So what do you say, you want in?” One asks the other.

“What are the odds?”

“First option is +150. Second is +900. Third is +100.” The girl giggles before she continues, “No one’s bet on the fourth.” You clench your fists.

“So basically order of chances to win are ball in flames, Seokjin, dead last Y/N, and basically the fourth is practically off the table.”  The other laughs.

“Yeah. Basically.”

“Alright I’ll bite. I’m going with Seokjin.”

“I’m on ball of flames.” The other laughs and they leave the bathroom.

You lean against the wall and exhale loudly. You don’t know what you should be mad at more: barely anyone believes that you can overpower Seokjin’s ruling, no one believes you can pull it off, or the whole damn bet in the first place. $10,000 in the pool. That’s absolutely ridiculous. You think of how many employees are on this floor. Not even 100. That’s an average of $100 put into the bets.

You stand up straight with determination. You’re not going to let this happen.

~•~

“Seokjin!” You yell down the hallway. Half of the people look up from their desk. You’ve never noticed until now, but people are already exchanging glances. Well then a show you will give them.

“I need to speak to you. Now.” You turn to your right to strut into an empty meeting room with as much authority as you can muster, but your forehead hits the glass door. You stumble back and you hear snickering. Tears prickle in your eyes but you swallow the tightness in your throat. You push in and later on Seokjin follows in. You tell him to close the door.

“What?” You hear his obnoxious voice. You swallow and clench your teeth again. You close your eyes and hold your breath so your tears will disappear. You don’t face him as you continue to rub your forehead and you breathe when you trust your voice again.

“They’re betting against us.”

“What are you talking about?”

“This whole floor. Everyone’s betting that we can’t work together to make this Christmas party a success. There’s $10,000 in the fucking pot, Seokjin. On this floor.” You stop rubbing your forehead but your hand is still supporting it as you lean back onto the table.

“Fuck.” You hear his hands slam down on the table. Good, he’s just as mad as you. Actually, that’s impossible, since you haven’t explained the whole bet in detail. You bet if he knows that he’s the second best option, it might shine up his ego more than it should, so you’re going to leave that out for now. You need his alliance. You turn around to face him.

“Seokjin, I propose this. We put away all our resentment towards each other to make this work. We’ll give Namjoon $100 each to place a bet on us. We make it a success and we split the money threesies.”

“Threesies?”

“I’m not going to argue with you now. I need your help.” You show the determination on your face to prove to him you’re for real. Forget the fact that he’s got an ego the size of the world. Forget the fact that he always goes against your suggestions and all opportunities you get in making decisions that matter. This is war.

He studies you for a bit and he finally agrees.

“But we have to plan in secret. We need to act like we can’t agree on anything so people continue to bet against us.”

“Like that’s difficult.” He interrupts. You exhale in exasperation with a pointed look.

“Sorry. Okay. Yeah, I agree. But since we’re calling truce right now, we have to not let our arguments in front of everyone get to our heads, okay? I’m all about showing them up just as seriously as you do. And if we’re too busy holding resentment for our act, then we’ll get nowhere and play right into their hands.” Seokjin explains. You agree with him. You don’t nod your head because you can see people attempting spy as they pass by. You cross your arms to act like you’re still trying to argue.

“We’ll work offline. We can’t plan in this building. Walls are thin and corners have eyes. We need to meet outside.”

“We can go to my place. I’m actually one of the people who live furthest from the company.”

“Okay. Text me your address.”

“I don’t have your number.”

“It’s on my business card.”

“I don’t have your business card.”

“Then find one, damn it. I can’t openly give you one.” He sighs and rubs his face.

“Don’t get me wrong, I’m still willing to work with you. As much as I’m frustrated with you, this is just for show to the outside.” You resist raising your eyebrows. He’s not kidding when he’s trying to put away his resentment.

“Alright. I’ll find a way. I’m going to leave now, and I’m going to make fun of you for hitting your head.” He turns to open the glass door, making people scurry away so they don’t act like they’re spying.

“You know, if you want to somehow intimidate me to go your way, you got to at least know how to use your eyes before opening a damn door.” He makes his last remark and leaves. You pout and lean against the table, rubbing your forehead again.

~•~

As according to plan, Seokjin is able to text you his address. You’ve explained to Namjoon how the bet works and tells him the deal. Of course he’ll agree; he’s just as much as Seokjin’s friend as yours. With this newfound determination he sees in both of you, he’ll not only bet on it, he actually believes it. He’s the only person here that believes in you, it just sucks he’s not on your team. Given his friendship with both of you, it will be no surprise for people to see him bet on you two out of loyalty.

At 7pm, you show up to Seokjin’s building with hot Italian food in your hands. He asked you to bring dinner because he doesn’t have enough for two.

You ring him through the lobby and he tells the doorman you’re okay to come in.

Jeez. No wonder he lives so far away. If I had a place like this, I’d never move either. You think to yourself as you walk through the lobby towards the elevator.

When you get up there, you hear him shout that the door is open and you let yourself in. You smell amazing food. You’re hungry and your Italian food on the cab ride here was enough to make you salivate and stomach growl, much to your embarrassment to the cab driver, but this…wow. You’re ready to drop everything right now and start digging in to your food, container and all, anything just to get something in you to satiate your hunger. But your smell senses tell you that your Italian food won’t satisfy you anymore.

“Let’s eat in here.” He calls out from the kitchen. You walk in to see a whole meal placed before him as he unties his apron.

“You said you didn’t have enough food for two! This is enough for three!” You set your bags down on the counter.

“Have you seen me eat? This is my serving size.” You tilt your head to look at him up and down, “Where do you put it all?”

He doesn’t answer you and starts digging in. You sigh and take out your food that now looks measly and unappetizing compared to what he’s cooked for himself.

“Okay. So theme. Let’s start brainstorming.” You say as you take your first bite. He groans.

“Can we do this after we’re done eating?” He pleads with his mouth full and wide eyes. You twitch a grin, “Fine.” He doesn’t think much of your expression and continues to eat.

“You should have told me to come later.” You express.

“It’s fine. We’re going to have to get used each other right? What’s an extra thirty minutes for dinner?”

“Thirty minutes? That’s how long it takes to scarf all that down?” You widen your eyes.

“Yeah. Wanna bet that I can finish in 20?” He grins.

“No thanks. I’ve heard enough about bets for the rest of this year. And the next.” You continue your food.

Despite not betting on it, he still finishes it in 20 and he washes his stuff as you finish yours.

“Jeez, you eat so slowly.” He wipes his hands dry when you finish your last bite.

“You’re just insanely fast, especially for your portion.” You wrap up your trash and dump it, “Okay, theme…”

~•~

In three days’ time, you two have planned out the contents of the party. Now you have four days for its logistics and execution. What used to be the clash of the titans to the both of you turns into an inside joke as you two act out your arguments. You two go in circles and get nowhere. When you get to Seokjin’s home, you guys actually laugh over what you two argue. It’s sad to admit, but if you were anyone other than yourself or Seokjin on your floor, you’d find the two of your arguing just as entertaining; but you’ll be damned before you stoop to their level and bet on it. According to Namjoon, ball of flames is increasing its odds and the pool increased by $500.

“Look, a luau inside this building is stupid. We have no space for it, it’s a fire hazard, and really, during Christmas?” Seokjin raises his voice at you.

“So many people go tropical during the season so they can avoid the cold, it happens! And who said luaus have to include a fire show or tiki torches? You were the one who told me to think bigger last time. Is this not thinking big?”

“This is called thinking poorly. And if you have no fire show or tiki torches, you’re being even less inauthentic; and that’s bad enough. What kind of half-assed theme is that?” Seokjin’s phone dings and he ends this conversation with you.

You drop back down to your seat and blow away the bangs in your hair. You get a text message.

Seokjin: That was really good!

You smile and reply: Thanks. Not bad yourself.

~•~

Once again, conversations in the bathroom are the best ways to receive intel.

“Oh, you should have heard it. It’s like actually witnessing them light up a roll of toilet paper and getting ready to throw it in the middle of the party.” Someone laughs as they talk over the phone. You roll your eyes. We’ll see who’s laughing when you guys see how great it is. Even if everyone’s bummed out at the party, they won’t be able to deny, it’s going to be fantastic.

“Oh, and Y/N’s arguments. They’re terrible! She suggested a luau. Can you believe that? As if we have space for that crap…Yeah I know. I don’t understand why she’s even still here.” Your limbs grow cold and your breath stills.

“Yeah, I don’t know what the boss is thinking, letting her train new recruits. We’re just going to have to unravel all that training and start all over. I’ve already got two under my wings asking for some real advice under-the-table…Yeah, well, he started the bet. If he didn’t dangle the chance for her to pitch, she wouldn’t work with Seokjin. Not like she’s going to get the chance anyway…” The conversation leaves the bathroom.

You close your eyes and lean your head back against the wall. You try to take a deep breath, but it’s slowly turns into quiet sobs.

~•~

Tonight, you’re quieter than normal, letting Seokjin lead the conversation and make the final decision.

“What’s going on, Y/N? We’re halfway through. We’ll show them up, get our money, and go for a shopping spree! I’m already thinking about an extravagant dinner. Yum.” He sees that you make no expression, comeback, or share his enthusiasm. You don’t even look at him and stare straight between your knees.

His voice turns soft.

“Y/N? It’s obvious that you’re not okay. There’s no use in not telling me anymore. Come on, we’re partners on this.” In the light, he sees tears form in the corners of your eyes. Before he can think “uh oh”, they already begin to fall.

“What’s the use? No one here believes in me. Everyone is just going to think you were the one who planned it all and then decided to split the credit, all in the ‘spirit of Christmas!’ I-I didn’t tell you at first because I need you to work with me. There are two more options to the bet. One option bets that you are the one who makes all the decisions and pulls it off; the other is me. Every day, both our chances decrease because more people are starting to bet on ball of flames, but mine are now zero to none. Everyone here thinks I’m a fucking joke. Do they think I want to be here? I don’t want to be here. If I get a chance to pitch and let clients even know I exist, it’s my ticket out. I know that if people give me a chance, they will see that I can do really good. I can’t express my ideas well every time but I’m getting there. What I say and what I’m really thinking of are vastly different.” You’re choking your sobs and but continue.

“You know, our boss is the one who started the bet and he dangled the pitch to me just so I’ll bite. He still thinks I’m going to lose. W-what kind of lousy jerk is he? If he doesn’t believe in me, he should’ve just let me live and have you plan the whole thing. Why does he have to humiliate me like this? Better yet, just fire me. It’s better than this.” You put your head down into your arms that rest on your knees and let yourself go.

You feel Seokjin lightly put his hand on your shoulder to try to soothe you. Then he sighs and decides that you need more than just a hand on your shoulder. He reaches further to grab your other shoulder to pull you into his embrace. You two sit on the floor against his couch as you sob into his chest. He rubs your back and run his fingers through your hair as he watches his shirt dampen.

“First of all, I found out about the other options a long time ago. After you told me, I heard more about it in passing from other people. To be honest, I wasn’t mad at you. In fact, I got a mad for you too.” You’re a little shocked by his confession.

“You’ve been here longer than anyone else on our team; where’s that credit? I know you’re not planner as much as executioner. I have nothing to say against your case whenever the planning is over and you’ve been given responsibility. You’re reliable there, do you understand? I’m sorry in the past when I always seemed like I was against your ideas. Maybe they just weren’t fully formed verbally. But I should have paid more attention, give more patience, and try to find out exactly what you thought so. Working together with you on this shows me that you can do the job. It just depends on the communication, or how many people you need to communicate with to get the idea through.” He almost forgets why he started to talk or what his point is, but man, he’s got the ball rolling.

“And not only are you an executioner, but you have experience in this field, in this company, and on our team. You know every old trick in the book that others try to recycle over and over, and I agree with you when you say it’s not innovative enough. You do hold value. Our boss is an asshole. It doesn’t take this bet to realize that. If you think people don’t like you, you should listen to what people say about him. But you don’t. You don’t get into such office politics, I mean, other than when it’s against me. But it’s only arguing; you’ve never gotten in my way, or anyone’s way, for your own gain. You do everything for the good of the project. You stay away from gossip and you work diligently.” You don’t realize it, but he tightens his hold on you as he lists all your values.

“So, screw the bet. Screw the boss. Screw the party. Screw everyone who’s against you. You don’t answer to any of them for anything. You know you’re better than this. I know you’re better than this.” Your sobs subside and you just listen to his words and his heartbeat.

He takes a deep breath when he’s finally done. He repeats in his mind what he just said. He never consciously realized how much he can actually say about you. He never thought that he actually notices so many things about you.

You two sit there for a while. Tonight, planning is obviously shot. Forget that. But it’s okay, ‘cause you’re ahead of the schedule anyway.

“Thank you.” You croak. He takes a deep breath and runs his hand through your hair again, “No need to thank me.”

Your silent tears fall again, but this time out of appreciation.

~•~

For the next few days, it’s quiet in the office. You don’t want to be their entertainment feed like a circus animal. You no longer have the energy and patience to come up with false arguments with Seokjin, and he gets it; it’s actually his idea to stop the in-office arguments. Now everyone just thinks you two had the biggest fight ever which ends up to have to you two not speaking to each other. It still makes people talk, but they’re itching for an answer like they have lice. No one dares to ask though. Everyone tiptoes around you two like you’re a lioness taking a light nap. Latest news from Namjoon is that the pool is now a little under $16,000.

~•~

On the day of the party, you send a mass email reminder about the party invite. All guests have already RSVP’d in excitement to see the party results. Maybe at the party, you two will have a final showdown. You ignore all whispers as you quietly make your way through the office. Everyone gets a half-day off and come back in the evening in their best evening wear.

~•~

You look at yourself in the mirror at your party get-up. Even though you find solace in Seokjin’s words, you’re not excited to see everyone’s disappointment that they bet on the wrong horse. You sigh and make your way downstairs to see Seokjin waiting outside for you with a bouquet of red roses.

“What are you doing here? What’s this?” You laugh and take the bouquet from his hands. Your cheeks redden like the roses.

“Well obviously these are for you. And, we’re not going to the party.” You look up at him in shock.

“What? Why not?”

“Why should we? Just because we planned the best damn party doesn’t mean we have to show up. We don’t owe anyone. If anything, I believe the entire 16th floor owes us $16,000 in total. I already have Namjoon to host for us. You don’t need everyone going up to you saying, ‘Wow, I can’t believe you actually did this.’ Not tonight. Tonight, you’re going to be with someone who actually appreciates you.” He points at his own nose and you smile.

“So what are we doing instead?”

“We,” He leads you to his car and opens the door for you, “are going to celebrate early from that extravagant dinner I was gushing about. We are going to celebrate Christmas ourselves. Namjoon will reimburse tonight from my share. We,“ He closes your door when you’re safely tucked in and walks to the other side to get in, “are going on a date.”

You crack a smile and he looks over. He smiles and stretches out a hand to cup your cheek.

He leans really close and his forehead touches yours, “You have a really beautiful smile, you know that?”

“I do now.” You say quietly.

Candy Cane | Mafia!Namjoon

Summary line: Christmas Prompt #19: Character A doesn’t feel the Christmas spirit but Character B, who lives above them, keeps playing Christmas carols really loud.

Namjoon | Seokjin | Yoongi | Hoseok | Jimin | Taehyung | Jungkook

~

(edit: Because I have a very clear idea of his home in my head, I decided to create it. The links you see as you read (just 3) will give you the perspective. Click it if you want, but if you choose to see his home with your own imagination, just don’t click on the link. The people you see in the room are supposed to be y/n and Namjoon, but it’s just a stand in so you know where the person is looking at.)

Namjoon sighs as he finally returns home after countless nights in the administration office. He’s pretty sure that a bit of cocaine powder is still on the underside of his black leather shoes and dried blood underneath his fingertips. He’s dead tired, but he’s still a clean man, so God forbid he walks into his home with cocaine powder.

He wipes his shoes down on his white welcome mat that contrasts against the black tiles of his entryway. It’s not really used to welcome people as much as it’s to disguise cocaine powder. The white mat is perfect disguise to hide the powder. But he’ll still have to wash it tomorrow.

He walks over to his fridge to check for any food. He has expired raw meat and old vegetables. He can still eat the vegetables, but he never had, and never will have, a meal without meat. He’ll go to the store and cook tomorrow on his day off; he’s too damn tired to cook now and there are no microwavables. Food delivery should be good enough tonight.

He loosens his tie and gets ready for a bath. He strips away all his clothing and relaxes himself into the tub. He looks at his own finger nails and starts to dig out the dried blood of his enemies as he meditates on his actions today in silence.

You know, maybe the screwdriver was a bit much. A bullet next time? Nah. The guy deserved it. A bullet is too fast, too simple. In light of Christmas, I should give it a little more oomph. Namjoon chuckles at himself at his twisted way to “celebrate” Christmas. There’s no Christmas. Never was, never will.

In these days, people come home to Christmas lights, trees, presents, and milk and cookies.

He’s a minimalist who doesn’t celebrate Christmas. Other than the lights already installed into his walls, there’s no other lighting in his home, if he can even truly call this a home.

Christmas trees are dirty and difficult to manage.

And that decorating crap? Forget that.

He doesn’t need gifts. He just takes what he wants. Those aren’t gifts; although, his victims offer to him what he wants on a silver platter because they don’t want to die. So, does that count?

He doesn’t give gifts to anyone. The closest people in his life are his boys, and his gift to them every night is not shooting them. He’s been more than merciful, benevolent, and generous by that alone; he doesn’t need Christmas to prove that.

He doesn’t believe in God or Jesus, so what’s the point for him to celebrate Christmas. He’s not the feeling type to spend “quality time” with anyone so why celebrate with or for anyone? There’s nothing to celebrate. It’s just another day.

All these list off in his head as reason why he shouldn’t celebrate Christmas, as if reminding himself he doesn’t want to.

But irony decides to greet him tonight, accompanied with obnoxious persistence.

By his fourth finger he cleans, music begins to play. But not in his home. And even if he were to play music, it’s definitely not this damn noise.

Christmas music? Christmas carols? You’ve got to be fucking kidding. He rolls his eyes as he looks above to the ceiling.

And in the bathroom too? I hope you slip and fall when you try to dance in your shower.

The phone rings and he calls out to his technologically-advanced home to answer the call. He tries to yell over the music, “Turn that fucking noise down!”

“Boss?” He hears Hoseok clear his throat.

“What?” He growls, glaring at the ceiling when the music does not desist.

“I’m coming by to hand you the package. I’ll be there in 10 minutes.” Namjoon looks at himself soaking in the tub.

“You make that an hour.” He commands.

“Okay? I’ll be there in an hour.” Hoseok is about to hang up, “Oh, and doesn’t your neighbor know your rules?”

“Apparently he forgot.” He rolls his eyes. He thinks the music just got louder as it changed from one song to the next.

“God damn it. I can’t take this anymore. I’m going to remind him.”

“Killing him isn’t reminding him. That’s just ending the poor bastard’s life. Come on, in the spirit of Christmas, let him live.” Hoseok laughs. Namjoon rolls his eyes. If any of his boys could be close to holiday person, it would be Hoseok.

“Poor bastard? He should have seen this coming. I’m the poor bastard who has to deal with shit people who don’t listen. Christmas, or any holiday for that matter, is never a reason for leniency.” Namjoon hangs up with a growl. He clenches his teeth when he looks at his tub that’s filled to the brim. Damn water is wasted on this idiot.

He gets up and drains the water. He dries himself out and quickly puts on some clothing. He stomps around his house to his drawer and roughly pulls it out. There’s a mass of choice weapons. Bronze knuckles, guns of all types, knives, daggers. Namjoon looks at all of them and then at his hands.

He’s angry enough. He can probably finish the “discussion” with his bare hands.

Every step is heavy as he makes his way one floor above him. He memorized the residence number above his place. And if that isn’t enough, the music is louder up here.

He clenches his teeth and groans. When the man opens that door, the music is going to amplify by ten-fold. He pounds on the door and steps back, wishing that the space would become a sound barrier, but he knows it won’t.

When the door opens, it’s not the scrawny man he’s expecting, it’s you. And you is dressed in a short silky red robe and he can see a bit of a silky white night slip underneath. Your hair is slightly tussled, half-dried, and pushed to one side to reveal your neck. Why, the closest he’ll get to Christmas spirit is to compare you to a candy cane. What a delicious candy cane. But also here at the wrong place and wrong time.

“Where’s Yeonseok?” He asks you with gritted teeth. You’re not the one he’s looking for, but damn, he wished he was.

“Sorry? Um, I’m new. Are you looking for the previous owner?” You ask politely. You’re a new resident? And he wasn’t notified by the property manager or you? He thought he had an understanding with the property manager. Anyone who moves above, below, left, right, front or back of his home, he is to be notified so he can make discuss his rules with them. Looks like he’s going to have many tedious conversations tonight.

“I live below you. Didn’t the property manager tell you that if you move in within my area, you need to answer to me first?” He asks. You sense something tense about him, but you don’t recognize it as intimidation. Just a grumpy man who has a really rigid structure.

“Yes, I am aware. But I’ve been here for three weeks now, and I try to come down every hour I’m home. I haven’t been able to catch you. I am aware that you have strict rules, and I’m willing to discuss them with you. It’s just always been bad timing.” You explain yourself. With a rigid structure, you’re pretty sure he’s not an excuse kind of guy. But you also hope he’s reasonable enough to recognize the difference between excuses and reason.

He sighs and steps in. He leans in close to you, “Turn off that music and come with me. We have a few things to discuss.” You shiver and he smirks at his effect on you. But he’s mistaken; it’s just the draft he’s creating in the entrance of your home. You go and turn off your music.

“Let me change first, and I’ll meet you downstairs.”

“No. Come now.” Besides, he doesn’t mind you dressed like this. Not at all.

“I can’t go into another man’s home dressed like this.”

“You open the door to your own home dressed like that. Now, you can wear whatever you like in your own home, but you're lucky someone with more restraint and respect knocked on your door. Now come along. No one’s going to eat you tonight. Unless you want me to.” You wrinkle your nose in disgust but he’s already out of sight, expecting you to follow him. You sigh and slip on the easiest shoe you’ve got.

You follow him down with your arms crossed over your chest the whole time.

You enter into his home and see that everything is just black and white with minimalist furniture. He sits at the center of his couch. He crosses his leg halfway over his other one and spreads his arm to the back of his couch. You’re not about to sit next to him when his arm is spread like that, but you really don’t want to stand in front him like this. You opt to his kitchen counter and lean against it with your arms still crossed.

“You’re not allowed to have parties, music, or loud animals into your home. Wear socks at all times so I don’t hear you walking around. Your media volumes are never to go above 40%. Don’t sing. Don’t dance. I don’t think I have to tell you this, since it’s basic home care, but if there’s anything wrong with your home, fix it automatically. A floor creek, a wall crack, plumbing issues, all of that. I don’t need those noisy issues disturbing me. You better not have a squeaky bed. Oh, and don’t you dare have sex. Find a guy who’ll take you back to his place. Your standards must be high enough to find someone who’s not living in his mother’s basement, right?” You uncross your arms in disbelief and your jaw drops.

“Are you going to pay my rent? Are you my boss? Are you going to pay for any of my losses or things I would have to fix if any of these issues cost money? If not, I don’t see why I would have to comply with any part of this deal based on your preferences. I can tell you’re a guy who likes his silence, and that’s fine, but these are unreasonable.”

“Did I ever say this was a deal? No. This are simply rules. If you don’t like it, move.”

“No, I like it here. It’s been just fine for the past three weeks. And besides, evident through the fact that I couldn’t even find you for three weeks, you’re rarely home. I’m not going to tiptoe around my home for someone else’s unreasonable demands, especially for that someone who isn’t even home.”

“How’s this offer? If you comply, I will not kill you.”

You raise an eyebrow and roll your eyes, “You don’t scare me. I’ve been through a lot. Even dressed like this, you won’t even get to touch me.”

“Is that a challenge?” He smirks. You glare him down, “No. It’s not. Don’t even try.”

He shrugs but his obnoxious smirk won’t wipe off his face.

“If we can’t agree, then you’re going to have to move.”

“I’m not moving because we can’t agree!” You throw your hands in the air.

“Then you’re going to have to agree if you stay.”

“I’m not going to agree to anything with you.” He sighs and throws his head back in frustration. There’s really only A or B with him. Why can’t you see that? Does he really need to go to C?

“Look. I’ll agree to reasonable home care, and that is it. I’m going to sing, I’m going to dance. I’m going to play all my damn music however I want. Here’s how I can meet you halfway. I can tell you early on if I’m going to have company. My family is visiting for the holidays, so for at least a week, I’m going to have company. I’m planning to get a cat, so at least it’s not a loud animal. I already don’t have a squeaky bed. I’m not going to wear socks at all times based on your request because I walk lightly enough. Besides, didn't you just say I'm allowed to wear whatever I want at home? A-and that sex thing? It’s not going to happen, so don’t worry. At least not for a while.”

Namjoon studies you for a bit and then turns presses his lips downward, “Nah. No. Not good enough. Don’t sing, don’t dance, and no music. Get your family to stay somewhere else. Wear your socks because safe than sorry. I’m allergic to cats, so no.”

“You’re ridiculous! Did the previous guy leave because he couldn’t keep up with your demands either? Are there anyone who lives around you anymore, you lonely and rigid soul?!” He glares at you for so long and so hard you look down and apologize quietly.

“You are never allowed to speak to me like that again, you understand?” He threatens lowly. It’s the first time that you agree with him as you slowly nod.

You two don’t speak for a while.

“Now.” He begins again, just as low and threateningly, “Are you going to listen to what I have to say?” you clench your teeth but make no other move.

He takes that as affirmative so he begins to speak, “Get. Your family. Elsewhere. Carpet your floor so you can avoid wearing socks if it’s really that much of an inconvenience.”

Your eye twitches. How is that any less of an inconvenience?

“Don’t sing, dance, play music, or any loud sounds above 40%, or I will swear to fuck, that you will regret it. Do you understand?”

You clench you hand and look at him, “I apologized for my behavior already. Just because that was wrong of me does not mean I’m going to magically cooperate. I want to do what I want to do in the comfort of my own home. We don’t know each other. It’s unreasonable for either of us to meet such demands to accommodate one another. So no.”

He gets up so fast, you jump. He quickly makes his way to you and traps you against the counter between his arms.

“I’ve been very patient and cordial with you longer than I have with anyone for the past 15 years.” You raise an eyebrow and look him up and down. He can’t possibly be past his 20’s, “Yeah, well I wouldn’t have known that. I’m so sorry. That really changes my decision since you’ve shown such manners. Oh, wait. No, it doesn’t.”

He has his hand around your throat before you blink and tightens his hold on you, “I have no qualms killing a woman. Believe me.”

You quickly take your elbow and jam it into the inside of his arm, making him drop his hold on you, and you push him away.

“I said. You. Don’t. Touch. Me.” You glare at him. For the first time tonight, he wears a different expression on his face other than anger, frustration, or lust. It’s amusement.

“You know, you’re about as threatening as a baby rabbit. Ah, no, no. That’s too much credit. An ant. You’re about as threatening as an ant.”

You glare at him and he shrugs in amusement. The phone rings and he takes out his phone to answer it. He’s not about to have his mafia business be heard over by some candy cane.

“I’m here boss.” Hoseok says.

“Come back tomorrow. I’m taking care of my neighbor.” He watches you cross your arms.

“That’s still not over? Do you need a clean-up crew?”

“No, it’s fine. Just go.” He hangs up.

“It looks like we aren’t going to come to an agreement here.” You purse your lips together.

“Doesn’t look that way.” You two have a stare-down.

“Look,” He starts, “See if there’s another empty space in this building. One that’s not around me and we can avoid the mess. At least you don’t have to move out of the building.”

“You’re no different from a spoiled brat. You need to understand that you can’t have people doing what you want all the time!” You unfold your arms, “Especially strangers. You give me no reason to listen to you.” He sighs and walks away. You hear a drawer opening and slamming closed. He comes back with a gun and he’s twisting on a silencer.

You clench your teeth and fists.

He stands in front of you and points it point blank at your nose.

“Move, agree, or die. There is no door four. Personally, I’d choose door one or two.”

You make no move and he tilts his head. You must have really gone through something bad for you to not show fear, not in your eyes or in the air around you.

“I’ll move to somewhere else in this building. You rude piece of -.” You bite back your last words. You make your decision based on rationale that this is going nowhere. You’re not afraid of his gun, but it’s your self-preservation instincts. So, this is the only time you will ever let it go. You hate letting him think he’s won. You really, really do.

He smiles distortedly and presses his gun at your nose and points it upward so you look like a pig.

He sighs inwardly. You’re still a candy cane.

“It’s okay. Self-preservation is only human. I don’t blame you. I’ve seen a lot of people give in for that reason. But I’ll give you more credit because you’re not nearly as cowardly.” He chuckles. But he’s still mocking you by pushing your nose with his gun.

You dare to push his gun away and shock almost surfaces to his expression.

“Merry Christmas, Mr. Grinch.” You cross your arms and walk out of his apartment. He has his eyebrows raised in full amusement.

He realizes a couple things.

One, you two never exchanged names.

Two, he really wants a candy cane right now. And he’s probably going to start liking them as the only sweets he’ll eat in his life. And that sucks because it’s only going to sell seasonally.

And three. Damn. He likes you. He really likes you.

And that is the story of how Kim Namjoon, a mafia boss, gets the closest he’ll ever get to Christmas spirit.

Santa's Present | Jungkook

Summary line: Christmas prompt #17: Character A has to dress up as Santa for Christmas

Namjoon | Seokjin | Yoongi | Hoseok | Jimin | Taehyung | Jungkook

~

Man, this suit is about as itchy as having fleas. Jungkook resists the urge to scratch his neck. The over-washed collar on this Santa suit is no longer the soft fake fur as it originally has been. This is what you get when you sign up to be a mall Santa for extra money. Jungkook thinks about he’s going to get revenge on his friend and vet, Seokjin, who was the one who suggested the short term job.

He’s not sure what’s worse though: wearing this suit for nothing, or the fact that he’s bored to death. He’s been sitting on Santa’s throne for almost his whole shift already, and only two kids came to visit him. It’s like children no longer enjoy the childish myth that makes children starry-eyed every winter. It makes Jungkook feel bad that children no longer anticipate sounds coming down from their chimney every Christmas Eve. No one leaves any milk and cookies by the Christmas tree or fireplace. If Santa is real, he’d be so disappointed.

As he mulls over Santa’s existence, you’re watching the area from the second floor, sipping on your coffee. You’ve been leaning on the railing for quite some time now; watching Santa twiddling his thumbs for a while, and the elf standing by the cashier texting away on his phone. You feel bad that you haven’t seen any kid come around to even look at the bearded man in a white suit sitting on a red and gold plush chair.

The Christmas tree behind him is stacked up higher than the second floor, decked out in white lights and red and gold ornaments. Christmas lights are hanging from the ceiling in rows. Wreaths hang on every column. Everything is so festive and everyone is bustling to get their last minute Christmas gift shopping. Christmas music is playing through the whole mall. A waft of sweet peppermint floats in the air, but that could be your peppermint mocha.

The Christmas spirit feels like it’s everywhere in this mall except for Santa’s little area. You pout as you lower your head to rest on your arm that’s resting on the railing. You think that Santa and that elf are the only ones in this mall who doesn’t seem like they have the Christmas spirit.

Hey, you can take a picture with Santa! Make an old man happy, Y/N! …I’m so glad I didn’t say that out loud… You straighten up and make your choice.

You make the slow descend down to the escalator. The elf straightens up at your presence, “Hi, would you like to visit Santa?” Santa looks up and you can tell there’s a young face behind that white beard and round glasses.

“Uh, y-yeah.” You don’t know why you feel hesitant now for seeing Santa. It’s not like it’s a bad idea still. The guy could still use some holiday spirit.

“Great, come on in. What’s your name?”

“Y/N.” as you step past the gate.

“Alright Y/N. You can go over to Santa and I’ll get the camera ready.” The elf smiles at you and gestures the red carpet for you.

You smile back and make your way to Santa.

“Ho, ho, ho! Merry Christmas!” Santa exclaims and a grin surfaces on his face.

“Hi Santa.” You give a little wave.

“What’s your name, sweetheart?”

“Y/N.”

“That’s a beautiful name, Y/N…Um,” Santa drops his cheery voice for a second and leans in to you, “This might sound a bit inappropriate given our age, but it’s a part of my job. I’m not trying to be creepy.”

He clears his throat and leans back and starts with his cheery voice again, “Have you been a good girl this year?”

You throw your head back in laughter, “Yes, Santa. I’ve been a good girl.”

“I knew it. Who else would visit Santa while everyone else is so busy?” He snaps his fingers. You smile, “I could just be someone who’s not as busy. As you can see, I’ve finished my shopping.”

“That’s true. But I’m certain your name is on my nice list anyhow.” He whips out a paper styled like parchment scroll. You glance over to see three names on it. This is simply a headcount of how many people has visited him.

“Yup. Y/N. There you are! One of the top three.” He taps your name on his “Nice list”. You giggle.

He gestures you to sit on his arm rest when he sees the elf loading up the Polaroid.

“So, what would you like for Christmas, Y/N?” He asks.

“Mm…a dog. I moved out of my family’s house in September, so I would like a companion at home.” You say when you sit by his side. You see Santa shift in his seat, “Oh yeah? What kind of dog?”

“Well, I know I can’t have a wolf, since they’re not really meant to be house pets, so the next best thing would be a husky, I guess.” Santa laughs.

“Yeah, wolves aren’t always tame, depends on the wolf you stumble upon, but for sure they can make wonderful companions. I’ll tell you a secret. I’ve met a couple of wolves once when I was out delivering presents. If you want a wolf to come close, sit down on the ground, and hold your palms out in front of you. Be very calm and you need to make him feel that you mean no harm.” He stretches out his arms as an example. You raise your eyebrows, “Really? Is that how you were able to make it out alive?”

“Oh yeah. There were six of them. All nice male wolves. They go on my nice list too.” You laugh at his little joke. He gestures at the camera and you lean closer to Santa and smile.

Click!

Santa turns to the other side of his chair and drags out a large red bag that supposedly keeps of all Santa’s gifts.

“Well, Y/N,” Santa fishes through his bag before he takes out a little stuffed husky for you, “If there’s one thing I can do tonight, it’s to grant your wish.”

“I’m a lucky girl.” You smile and take the stuffed animal, “Thank you, Santa.”

“Have a wonderful Christmas, Y/N.” Santa looks up at you and smiles so wide, you can see bright white teeth behind his beard.

“Thank you, Santa. You too.” You smile as the elf comes over to hand you your polaroid.

You look at the stuffed husky and smile. Of all the stuffed dogs he could have in his bag.

Not long after you left, the alarm clock on the elf’s desk rang to signal that their shift is over. A new Santa is already in the bathroom, waiting for Jungkook to go in and make the switch with him. Jungkook bolts to get rid of the suit, beard, and glasses. He comes out of the bathroom a new man and begins to sniff.

When you leaned in close to take the picture, he got a good whiff of your scent. You left not even 10 minutes ago, your scent is still trackable to him.

When he said he could grant your wish tonight, he wasn’t just talking about the stuffed husky…

You return home with your shopping bags and shake off the excess snow off your shoulders and your hat. You unwrap your scarf and take off your coat to match your clothes to the warmer temperature of your home.

Your home happens to be one with a fireplace so you take advantage of it and start a fire. You turn on your Christmas lights and Christmas tree, feeling the Christmas in your home again. Since you’re alone, you decide to put on some Christmas music to bring out some liveliness in your home.

You make your hot chocolate, and there’s a window in your kitchen. From your peripheral, you see snow on the hill nearby being disturbed by something running and sliding in the dark. You finish pouring your hot chocolate and take a sip. You look up and almost drop your cup. You would have but the moment the hot chocolate touched your skin, you react to it and put your cup down.

Across a blanket of snow from the side of your home, you see two glowing eyes in the dark. Was that what was running in the snow? You quickly walk over to the back door and turn on the outside light. There it is. A large dark brown wolf is standing right outside your territory. You two lock stares as you observe the wolf.

When you say large, you really do mean large. If it stood up on its hind legs, it’d probably be over six feet. Now you haven’t seen a wolf in real life before, but the wolf looks so fluffy, you really want to pet it. You take a deep breath as it slowly moves. Its eyes are still trained on you as it makes its way closer to your back porch.

If you want a wolf to come close…

You clench your teeth. Oh, that Santa is crazy. But you’re just as crazy. Because you’re slowly opening the door and poking your head out.

“H-hi there, uh, wolfie.” You stutter. The wolf huffs like it’s laughing and it takes the mildest step closer. You can’t be sure, but you feel like it’s moving slow so it doesn’t scare you.

“If I die, I’m haunting Santa and the North Pole for the rest of my life.” You mumble to yourself. The wolf’s ears twitch and you almost see a tug on the corner of the wolf’s mouth.

You open your door wider and slowly lower yourself down until you’re sitting down on the inside of the back door entrance.

Your arms stretch out hesitantly and your palms face out, just as Santa taught you. The wolf makes a slow trot towards you, but when you whimper, it pauses. Its head lowers like a little bow as it makes slower steps towards you.

Your heart beats faster as it closes in on you. Its height on all fours is taller than you sitting down. Its head is so big, it could probably chew off half your head right now. Your breath shakes as its nose first gently nudges your fingers and then it puts its muzzle into your hand, smelling your hand. Then it starts licking the hot chocolate off your hand.

You let out a surprised laugh as you move your hand away from its tongue and slowly move your hand upward to pet it head in between its ears.

“You’re so soft. And so cute.”

It huffs at your word choice and you laugh, “I’m sorry. Uh, cool?” It seems to like that because it presses its head closer into your hand.

After petting it awhile, you shiver because all the cold air outside is being let in. The wolf nudges your legs to get up and go in, and it walks inside with you. You back up against your kitchen counter. You can’t believe you actually have a wolf in your home right now. The wolf whips its tail on your back door and it closes. Apparently the wolf isn’t leaving anytime soon.

“Uh. W-would you like some water? I, uh, don’t have any dog food or rare meat…I can only satisfy your thirst right now.” The wolf’s ears perk up and snorts.

You grab a wide bowl from your shelf and fill it up with water. You put it on the ground and it comes over to take a drink. You walk backwards slowly and it looks up and tilts its head like it’s asking, why are you still afraid?

“Uh, um. Do you have a name? No, that’s silly. Of course you don’t have a name. You’re a wild animal.” It only stares at you.

“Um, I’m going to call you…Santa. For now!” You hold your hands up when you see the wolf huffing.

You take your cup of hot chocolate that is still on the counter, still warm enough, and you walk over to sit on your couch. You bring your legs up on the couch and tuck it under you. Santa follows you and sits on the floor close to you. You smile and you’re not so afraid to reach out to pet it anymore.

“You know why I’m calling you Santa? Because today, I went to the mall. During Christmas, malls deck out with the whole Christmas theme, and there are these mall Santas that sit in the center so kids can come to visit Santa, and you know, get into the spirit of Christmas. But lately, kids aren’t really excited to see him anymore. It’s so sad. I was watching the Santa sit there for a while, and he and his elf looked so bored. I decided to visit him, you know, so he won’t feel bored or that he won’t feel wasted at his job.” Santa shifts as it listens to your story. It lowers its head to rest on your couch and you continue to pet Santa.

“So I go down to see him. He was a lot younger than I expected. Like a lot younger. I thought I was going to be visiting an old man Santa, but no. This guy is probably my age. To be honest, I felt a little nervous, I don’t know. You know how those movies are, like you go to a store or the pizza guy delivers, but you don’t expect the person to be so young and attractive. It kind of stuns you for a second.” You swear you can see a wolfish smirk on Santa.

“I mean, he’s wearing an old beard and glasses so I can’t really see him, but he had really nice teeth when he smiles. Kinda wish I could have seen what he looks like. His voice is really nice too. But anyways,” For some reason, you feel embarrassed to tell this to Santa, even though he doesn’t know.

“so we take a picture and talk. I was right, he only had like three names on the visit list, he named it the ‘nice list’, and I’m one of them. I’m so happy I made the decision to talk to him. It’s like doing a nice deed. If there really is a Santa, I’m sure on his nice list now. You know why? Because I told the mall Santa that I wanted a dog for Christmas. And here you are! Well, you’re dog species, but you’re a wolf. I told Santa I would prefer a wolf, but you guys aren’t really house pets…” You tilt your head to look at Santa and it perks its head up a little to meet your gaze.

“Eh, what do I know? You’re pretty tame right now.” Santa relaxes its head back down.

“By the way, are you a guy or a girl?” You wonder out loud. You bend down to check but it backs up with an embarrassed huff.

“What? You’re a wolf, how else am I supposed to find out? Come on.” You put down your cup and get off the couch to sit down in front of the wolf. You start petting its side and rubbing its belly. It momentarily forgets and drops down on the floor to roll over. Its mouth opens up and its tongue sticks out like a silly dog.

“Mm, you’re a guy.” You observe nonchalantly. Santa instantly rolls over to sit up and pushes his head to hit your forehead.

“Ow, hey. I’m sorry. It won’t happen again. Obviously.” You pet him, trying to soothe him.

Santa huffs and walks away from you. He hops on the couch and lies down.

“Geez, you take up more than half of my couch.” You whine, getting up. You use your feet to nudge his head to move. He growls, which makes you freeze, but he shifts to let you sit down with more space so you figure he’s okay.

When you’re comfortable on the couch, he moves again and now his head rests on your lap. You slowly pet his head.

“Oh, and you know what that Santa got me? I told him, that the next best dog to a wolf would be a husky. So he gave me this.” Your hand moves to the side of the couch where you bag rests and you bring it up to take out the stuffed husky. Santa’s eyes move back and forth as you dangle it in front of him.

You take it away from him and hold it closer to you as you look at it, “It’s really cool and sweet that he could find it in his bag.” You smile.

Santa gets up to put his front legs over your lap and now he nuzzles his head against your tummy.

You two lay there for the rest of the night.

In the morning, you wake up sore from sleeping in your position all night, but when you open your eyes, there’s no more Santa. You sit up and look over to the back door. It’s closed, no Santa in sight.

You frown and scratch the back of your head, wondering if it was all a dream. But you see the bowl you put out for Santa last night still on the floor. It wasn’t a dream.

You rush to get up and get ready.

You run into the mall to the Santa area and see your Santa again.

“Santa!” You wave your arms. Santa turns his head to look at you and grins. He waves back and gets up from his seat. He goes over to the elf and says something before walking over to you on the other side of the fence. He takes off his glasses and pulls his beard down and now you can finally see his face. And what a beautiful face that is.

“Y/N.” He grins. You can finally see his whole smile.

“I met one. Last night! He was standing at the back of my house and I did what you taught me. He came into my house and sat on my couch! It was absolutely crazy!” Jungkook laughs as you recall your memories.

“I told you I’d grant your wish.” He grins.

“Yeah…but he left this morning. I didn’t even see him go. Like some sort of wolfish one night stand.” You huff. You see him raise his eyebrows, “Uh, I’m sorry. Poor choice of words.”

“No, it’s fine. I think your choice of words are great.” He chuckles as if he’s recalling something, “Maybe he’ll come back next year. Like your annual wolf or something.” You smile and agree, “One can only hope.”

“My shift just started not long ago, so I’ve got a good couple hours here. But when I’m done, do you want to get some coffee? You can tell me more about that wolf.” You smile at his date proposal.

“Sure. I’ll see you then.”

“We’ll meet at the food court at 6, then.” You nod and turn away but he grabs your hand to pull you back.

“By the way, did you name the wolf?”

“Uh…well, I felt like you really granted me the wish, so I named him Santa. I would have named him after you, but I only know you as Santa.” You blush and look down.

He leans in closer and whispers in your ear, “My name is Jungkook. But don’t change his name. I bet he really likes it.”

Expect the Unexpected | Taehyung

Summary line: Christmas Prompt #11: Character A’s little sibling/child wants to meet their favorite celebrity/writer/person for Christmas. Character B is said “Christmas present”.

Namjoon | Seokjin | Yoongi | Hoseok | Jimin | Taehyung | Jungkook

~

You sigh into Taehyung’s arms as one of his arms is wrapped around your waist and the other is playing with your fingers.

It’s been so long since you two have been able to relax like this, not when he has so much stuff going on at the end of the year. Between award ceremonies, fan meetings, and Vlive shows, you two rarely get a full hour of conversation through a phone call. But you know what the negatives of dating an celebrity, much less an idol, are. You’re a smart girl, obviously or else Taehyung wouldn’t be dating you, and you’re willing to go through every obstacle as long as it means that you can be the one Taehyung loves most. It’s his first day on break and he chooses it to spend it with you before his trip back to Daegu. That tells you enough of where his priorities are with you.

“Look at this.” You whip out your phone and scroll through your camera roll. You find the video you’re looking for and press play. You two adjust yourselves until you’re tucking your head under his chin and he holds you tight.

It’s a video focusing on your little sister, about 4 years old. She’s sitting on the couch next to you playing with different effects on the camera.

“Hey, Y/S/N. You like BTS, right?” You ask. Your little sister nods her head.

You can feel Taehyung’s face moving to break out his rectangular grin.

“Who do you like best?” Your little sister comes in close and cups her hands around her mouth to make tunnel to your ear like she’s going to tell you a secret, but her hand tunnel is still filled with gaps. You bring the camera close to her and her hand tunnel to record her not-so-quiet answer, “Taehyung-oppa.” You pull your head away because she’s a lot louder than you expected. Her every action suggested a secret, and yet…

“You like Taehyung-oppa? Yeah, I like Taehyung-oppa too. Looks our taste in men runs in the family.” You look pointedly at the camera with a mischievous smile.

You hear Taehyung puff out a laugh and he squeezes your waist for a moment.

“Y/N, I-I like Taehyung-oppa so much!” This video starts out cute gets cuter by the minute because your sister is starting to get so excited, she looks and sounds like she’s going to cry. She takes your head into her pudgy little hands.

“What do you like about Taehyung-oppa?” you ask with squished cheeks as she’s literally grabbing for your attention.

“H-he’s cool,” her lips are quivering (by now, Taehyung is vibrating against you because he’s trying to hold back his chuckles), “He’s good looking, and he sings good.”

You laugh and shake your head, “He sings well.”

“Taehyung-oppa sings good!” Your sister whines and takes her hands off your face, looking like she wants to cry.

“Okay, okay. Taehyung-oppa sings ‘good.’” You nod in agreement. But you look back to the camera and mouths, “Taehyung-oppa sings well.“

“What else do you like about Taehyung-oppa? Is that it?” You further your interview.

“He’s happy.”

“You like Taehyung-oppa because he’s happy?”

“Yeah!” She shouts enthusiastically like she just agreed to a summer vacation to Disneyland.

“Ah, I wonder what you will do if you ever get to meet Taehyung.” You wonder out loud. Your sister is stunned by your question and immediately starts bawling like any common fangirl would. You start freaking out and end the video.

The moment the video ends, Taehyung starts barking in laughter, “She’s the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. Is she always like this?”

“Almost. There was a short while where she really liked Hoseok. She made a song singing, ‘Hobi, Hobi, Hobi. He’s my Hobi. Hobi-oppaaaaa, I love you.’” You wave your arm in the air like you’re conducting the song.

He snorts, “But she’s back to me now, right?”

“Yeah, I took this three days ago. And now she sings, ‘Taehyung, Taehyung, Taehyung. He’s my Taehyung. Taehyung-oppaaaaa, I love you.’”

“Mm, smart girl; and quite talented. The lyrics are really meaningful and the melody is on point. There are quality women in your family.” Taehyung uses his finger to tip your chin to look at you and gives you a kiss.

“I don’t know,” You say after you break it off, “You think she’s cute and talented in music. What if she becomes my competition? I don’t know if I can win against her four-year-old charm.”

“You know what? You’re right. She’s too cute. She looks a lot like you, so she’s pretty close to my ideal type. But I mean, she cries out of enthusiasm for me. I don’t think you do. One point to her. You should really work harder if you want to get ahead of the competition.” He taunts.

“Oh, I’m pretty sure I’m ahead of the game.” Your confidence rises back as you snake your hand up his chest and around his neck. You use the rest of the day to convince him that you are, in fact, ahead of every competition you could possibly have.

The next day, he’s back at Daegu visiting his family. You text him.

You: Hey, Tae?

Taehyung: Yeah?

You:…so about my sister? Taehyung chuckles as he reads your text.

Taehyung: I promise I’ll always love you more, okay?

You: ☺. I know. But that’s not what I’m getting to…I was asking her what she wants for Christmas. You know what she replied? Taehyung is already smiling at the memory of your sister’s video.

Taehyung: No. Tell me. You send him a video.

It’s a video focused on your sister again. She’s already crying in the video. Her face is all red. Her mouth is unattractively open.

“Okay, Y/S/N. Tell your sister again, what do you want for Christmas?” You fail at stifling your laughter.

“T-tae-hy-hy-ung o-o-o-ahhh-ahhh-ahhhhhh.” The fact that she can’t even finish the word “oppa” is making Taehyung crack up so hard at how cute she is. In the video, you are also laughing so hard, the camera is losing its upright angle on your sister.

“Aww. Okay, listen up, baby, if you can stop crying and tell Taehyung-oppa through the camera how you feel about him, I will find some way for him to see this, okay?” Your sister hiccups and wipes her tears and snot furiously. Taehyung feels a strange sense of pride to see your sister’s determination is so strong, like yours.

“T-Taehyung,” Your sister is trying so hard to breathe normally again and you are rubbing her back to soothe her, “-o-oppa. My name is Y/S/N and I really love you. And I want to marry you. But I’m four. So, I won’t marry you. I-I can’t marry you. I’m sorry. B-but I love you so much, okay? Okay?!” her hyperventilating breaths are getting worse again but she’s still not crying.

“Shh…” You soothe your sister’s breathing, “You are so brave, Y/S/N. I’m very proud of you. I’m sure Taehyung would be very happy with you too.” The video ends.

Taehyung immediately saves the video, and then texts you: She’s so damn cute! And she did a very good job! Very strong girl. Taehyung praises her like a dad who just saw his little girl’s ballerina recital.

You: Right?! But, I mean, it got me thinking…how would you feel if she can actually meet you?

Taehyung pauses for a moment and smiles at your question.

It’s no secret to him or anyone who knows you that you have the softest spot in your heart for your sister, it’s even softer than his spot in your heart. His spot in your heart is a lot tougher and resilient; strong and plated with gold. Your sister’s spot is made up of clouds, marshmallows, cotton candy, down comforters, and plush pillows. Anyone can drop out of the sky and survive if they land on your soft spot for your sister. It’s one of the things he loves about you.

Taehyung asks so gently, you can practically hear his tone through his text: Would you like that? Do you want to introduce your sister to me?

You: I don’t know. I don’t really want her to start crying and make a scene if that ever happens.

You two haven’t made your relationship public in any way, shape, or form. The only ones who know are the boys and Bang PD. Every relationship secret in Big Hit is kept on the hush-hush between the person who has the secret and Bang PD, but because the boys are closer than anyone they’ve got and they perfectly understand what it means to be an idol, Bang PD is okay for them to know within their own circle. When you first met Bang PD and he strictly addressed the issue with you, it was scarier than any college entrance exam or the times you’ve disappointed your parents when you were young. Bang PD is actually pretty cool – since you’ve started dating, the three of you have actually shared a meal or two – but that first meeting still gives you nightmares.

Taehyung tells you: You know, if I’m going to meet your sister, Bang PD has to know about it first.

You sigh. Getting through that hurdle is probably the toughest thing.

Taehyung: But…if you know, we were just in the same place at the same time…I mean, who knows. Fate is a very interesting concept. ;)

You smile and reply: I really wouldn’t want to ignore Bang PD’s rules.

Taehyung: Okay, you leave Bang PD to me. Okay, babe? I’ve got you.

You: You’re the sweetest!

Taehyung used more breaths in his conversation with Bang PD to convince him to let your sister see you more than attempting to rap to all four cyphers in one shot.

Bang PD and Taehyung set up a video call with you to give you some rules and guidelines. He’s not nearly as scary to you now, but you do your very best impression to show him that you understand the serious consequences should anything go wrong.

Taehyung texts you on the 23rd, dropping hints of the time and location he’s going to be on Christmas Eve day, because Christmas day is still reserved for the boys and his family. Christmas Eve afternoon is all he can afford to push for you, but it’s all you need.

There’s a little toy store that’s slowly going out of business that Taehyung’s friend whose a kindergarten teacher told him about. Since it’s going out of business, very few people go there. He hints that he wants to go after lunch to find a stuffed toy for Soonshim to chew on.

You’re swinging your sister’s hand in yours as you two eat ice cream as you two walk down the street. It’s ice cream in the winter, but what your sister wants, she gets, for today. You recognize the store that Taehyung sent you a picture of.

“Let’s go inside to see if there’s anything cool in there.” You nudge your sister. You open the door and let your sister in and you follow her in.

The bell dings to notify the store owner someone has entered her shop.

“Hello, welcome!” She bows at you two and you two bow back. You look around to see not much left in the toy store. Your sister seem impressed still; she’s an optimistic little girl who finds treasure everywhere. She digs through the boxes of toys that the store owner has already packed up with a heavy heart. Everything in this store is dirt-cheap, and your heart goes out to the young store owner lady.

The bell dings at the front door to notify everyone in the store that another person has entered. You stiffen.

This is it.

“Excuse me,” A familiar deep voice comes up behind you and brushes past both you and your sister, as if he’s going to a different box. He naturally crouches down to a box filled with stuffed animals.

You put your hands on your sister’s shoulder and turns her around slowly, as if trying to catch her attention elsewhere, “Look, Y/S/N. Do you like this?”

But once a fangirl, always a fangirl.

He’s tanner than most people in Korea. He iconically wears dark and baggy clothes. His sunglasses and black and white bear mask are the marks of an idol. You and your sister can spot out his large hands even in the dark.

“Y/N! Y/N!” Your sister is furiously tugging onto your clothes as if she doesn’t already have your attention.

Taehyung slowly turns his head to look at you and your sister and tilts his head.

Your sister rushes up to Taehyung, and you chase after her.

Like you, she’s determined and knows what she wants.

Unlike you though, she’s younger and lacks a lot of discretion. You’re so lucky you’re alone.

She pulls down Taehyung’s mask in surprise to the both of you, you cover your mouth to stop laughing.

“You’re Taehyung-oppa.”

“I am, little girl. What’s your name?” Your sister looks to you and momentarily forgets her name.

“Sissy,” she starts quivering, “What’s my name?” You throw your head back in laughter and Taehyung tries to hide his own chuckle from your sister.

“Her name is Y/S/N, and she’s one of your biggest fans.”

“Is that right? I have a lot of fans. Are you sure you’re the biggest one? You’re tinier than Jimin.” He teases her. She loses all self-control and grabs Taehyung’s cheeks like she did yours, “I love you, Taehyung-oppa.”

He laughs and pats her on the head, “I love direct girls who tell me how they feel about me.”

Your sister looks to you and remembers her video, “Sissy, show him the video! Show him the video!” You grin and take out your phone to show Taehyung the video you’ve shown him a while ago about her serious love confession. As Taehyung is a superb actor, and an even better kid-person, he shows his adoration and happiness at the video as if it is his first time he’s seen it. But even if he didn’t act like it, the enthusiasm is still there. The video is too cute to get old.

“So, uh, what are you doing in a toy store?” You ask. He randomly fishes out a stuffed animal as an example, “Finding a stuffed animal for Soonshim for Christmas.”

He turns to your sister, “Do you know who Soonshim is? She’s my family dog.” She nods vigorously.

“Would you like to help me choose a toy for her?” Her eyes are almost ready to pop out because of her excitement, and she starts to dig through the box with Taehyung. He matches her enthusiasm and you resist taking a photo or a video; it’s a rule from Bang PD that there should be absolutely no physical evidence recorded that the three of you met in public.

Taehyung invites you to join them, and the three of you surround the circle in a triangle. Because you two have longer legs, your knees touch and you can’t help but exchange secret smiles.

The three of you finally choose one.

“Which one is your favorite?” Taehyung asks your sister. She contemplates and chooses the one in your hand.

“Would you like me to buy it for you? Consider it a Christmas present. But only if you promise, that you never tell anyone, and I mean anyone, that I bought it for you. Okay?” Taehyung holds up a pinkie for your sister to pinkie-swear. You’ve never seen him pinkie-swear before it’s the most adorable sight you’ve ever laid your eyes on.

But surprisingly she shakes her head, “I want Soonshim to have it.” Taehyung smiles at how precious she is and pulls your sister for a hug. Her mouth hangs open and she looks at you. She bounces in Taehyung’s hug, “Sissy! Sissy!”

You giggle and nod along to her bounces.

“Would you still like a toy, though, Y/S/N?” Taehyung pulls away and asks her. She takes the toy and rubs it all over him and then pulls it into her arms to hug it tight, “This one.”

You cover your mouth in laughter for what she did to him with the toy.

Taehyung laughs and takes the toys from her and you. He goes to the counter and pays for it. Your sister comes over to bury herself into you, “I met Taehyung-oppa!”

“I know.” You rub her back and look at the man giving you a smile. You mouth, Thank you.

Rather than your welcome, he mouths to you, I love you.

That’s even better.

The Tail of Good Deeds | Jimin

Summary Prompt: Christmas Prompt #9: Character A vows to do something nice for a stranger during the Christmas time. Character B is that stranger

Namjoon | Seokjin | Yoongi | Hoseok | Jimin | Taehyung | Jungkook

~

Your tail flicks furiously as you ascend higher towards the ocean surface. Your dark red mermaid tail shimmers with a metallic-like sheen because of the sunlight breaking into the euphotic zone of the ocean. You’re on your way to use your human legs for the first time ever.

Seven months ago, you’ve reached mermaid maturation. At the age of mermaid maturation, a mermaid finally has the capability to change into a human. It takes about 60 years, a fifth of a mermaid’s lifespan, because it’s at this age that you can resist “reckless curiosity” that could potentially make humans catch on to your species identity. Even so, you’re still really young; you’re considered at your prime. It is also at this age where a mermaid will finally choose something to do that will contribute to the merpeople society. It’s no secret to your family, friends, and all creatures of the deep nearby of your interest in humans, and for that, you’ve chosen to study humans.

With your passion for human studies and your ability to change into a human, you’ve decided that your first expedition will also be the first time you choose to walk on your human legs during one of the human’s most festive holidays ever, Christmas.

You’re not too sure what the holiday is all about, since it is a human holiday after all, and you’ve only started on human studies seven months ago. But you have observed many people feeling happy during this holiday, so it makes you happy too. You’ve decided, that whatever this holiday is about, it will be your favorite human holiday. People are practically celebrating from a week to a whole month because this holiday, and the next year’s holiday are almost back-to-back. It’s why you chose to do an ethnographic study of the Christmas holiday to experience the joy yourself.

Your head comes up above water and you are already shivering from the gust of cool winter air. As soon as your neck hits the air, your gill openings close into your skin and smoothen out. You take a deep breath through your mouth and nose and your human lungs activate.

You glide your way to the rocks and look around to see no one. You put your hands and arms on the rocks and slowly hoist yourself up through your upper body strength. The golden scales over your breasts glisten in the sunlight and you can see the lovely light refractions onto the rocks. You smile to yourself as you slowly bring yourself up higher.

“S-so cold.” You stutter to yourself as the ocean breeze hits your entire upper body.

You’re finally high enough to turn your body around to sit on the rock. You move your tail up to tuck next to you as you fish around the rocks for some of your human essentials you gathered and put up here much earlier in the year. Inside, you find a dry towel and human clothes.

You remove all your mermaid accessories from your hair and comb your hair with your fingers. You wrap the towel around yourself and you sigh in content. The towel is fluffy and has been baking under the sun for quite some time now. It’s so warm.

As soon as your upper body is dry enough, you start wiping yourself down. Your golden scales are harmlessly flaking off like dead cells and you recognize the human anatomy. You look over to your tail. An indent is already formed in the middle of your tail, and your fin has shrunk down to human feet size. You tilt your head as you observe it slowly changing. In good time, the fin has disappeared. You wipe away the rest of the flaky dark red scales on your human legs and you now have beautiful and smooth human legs tucked underneath you. You stretch out your legs in every way imaginable and wiggle your toes, giggling as you do so.

You quickly take out your clothes. With a bit of a struggle, you put on human garments for the first time. It feels so constricting, considering that you don’t wear clothes as a mermaid, but this is human culture and without this, you will be cold because of the weather up here. You stuff your towel into your seaweed sack.

Here comes the big feat: standing up. You perch your hands on the rocks as you lift you upper body. You haven’t used your legs to support your weight yet, but you bend your knees closer to you and allow your feet firmly planted on the floor now. You bounce up and down for a little bit to feel your weight shifting from being supported by your feet to your hands until you give more responsibility to your legs. You stand for a good minute or two without help from your hands. You finally make your way to shore.

When you get there, you leave the beach and look at both sides of the road. Many cars are turning into some sort of plaza or shopping center. That will be your first destination.

You observe the order in whose turn it is to cross the road or drive and manage to get to your destination unscathed.

You choose to enter into a shop you see has the most people. The air is warm and the smell has a very sweet but robust scent. Chatter is everywhere and you see little light bulbs of various colors flickering around the windows and aligned with the walls. There’s a tree that grabs your attention. It’s heavily decorated and there are boxes wrapped in pretty colors and bows underneath it. You walk over to admire the beauty.

“You like Christmas trees?” A voice speaks from behind you. You turn around to see a man behind the store counter. You smile and nod at him, “It’s very pretty.”

He smiles back, “Are you ready to order?”

“Hmm?” You look around to see everyone have a warm drink in their hand.

“Oh, uh. I actually don’t have any money on me.” Even underwater, there’s the need to exchange goods of same value for services and other goods; you expect nothing less from humans.

He gives you a strange look like, Then why are you even here?

“I came to avoid the cold for a little bit.” You say quickly. He sighs and looks around, “Would you still like a drink? It’ll be on me.” On him?

“N-no, it’s okay.” You smile and shake your head. Of course, he takes it that you are simply a nice girl who doesn’t want to take advantage of someone, not because you’re afraid of the implications of a drink being “on” him.

“It’s okay. I have employee discount. If you’re here to avoid the cold, you might as well have a hot coffee too.” He grins, and this time you can see his pearly white teeth.

“Okay.” You give in. He smiles at you and you walk up to the counter.

“What would you like?” He asks you and you look up at the board. Nothing here is familiar except for water, and you’re sure that it would be strange for you to only have water here. Besides, since you get to experience human life, you might as well try something new.

“What would you suggest?” You ask.

“Do you like more or less caffeine?” You’re not too sure what would happen to you if you had more of this “caffeine”.

“Less caffeine.”

“Then I would suggest a peppermint mocha. It’s not too much on caffeine and it’s a holiday favorite.”

“Peppermint mocha.” You were drawn mostly to the fact that the peppermint mocha is “a holiday favorite.”

“One peppermint mocha…what size would you like?”

“The largest one.” The guy chuckles as he punches in the order.

“Here’s my favorite part of the job: getting the pretty girl’s name.” He takes a cup and uncaps a sharpie. He looks at you expectantly with a grin.

“Y/N.” You blush. He has you spell it out for him. Luckily, human language is one of the things you first study about humans.

“Thank you, Y/N. I hope to see you again.” He nods at you. You smile back and walk away to let the next person in line order.

“Hey, Jimin.” Taehyung turns over to his colleague whose busy making coffee, “Do you have your employee discount card? Mine is in the back.”

“Aren’t you the one who was oh-so-chivalrously paying the girl’s drink out of your own pocket?” Jimin teased.

“Please? I’ll pay you back. I just need it this one time.” Jimin sighs and pulls out his card from his back pocket. Taehyung quickly uses it and gets the next guy’s order. Since no one else is in line, Taehyung snatches your cup before Jimin can grab it, “I want to do it.”

Jimin puffs out a laugh as Taehyung enthusiastically makes your drink. Jimin glances over to you to see you standing among other people waiting for your coffee. You’re a very pretty girl, but a little underdressed for the winter.

“No wonder why she has to get out of the cold.” Jimin mumbles to himself.

A girl who doesn’t have money and isn’t properly dressed for the winter? Makes one wonder about your situation.

Jimin can’t help but glance at your direction a couple more times. You’re distracted by all the Christmas décor with a peaceful smile on your face, like you’re letting the whole atmosphere of the coffee shop sink deep into your soul. It’s beautiful and humbling to him to see such a girl who doesn’t have much but still seeks out the simple pleasures in life.

Taehyung sees Jimin looking at you a couple times and he grins. He gives Jimin your cup and it snaps Jimin out of it.

“What?”

“I’m going on my break, you do it.” Taehyung whistles and skips off to disappear behind the “employees only” door before Jimin can protest.

Jimin sighs. He finishes making the drink for the man who was after you because that was what he was working on since Taehyung took your cup.

Jimin reads your order and your name and does his job as he should.

“One peppermint mocha for Y/N.” he calls out to you. You smile and walk over to take the cup.

“Thank you so much.” You feel its warmth and sigh. You take a sip and widen your eyes like you’ve never had one before.

“This is great! Where’s the other guy? I want to thank him.”

“Taehyung’s on his break now. I’ll let him know you say thanks.” You nod and take another sip. Jimin taps his fingers on the counter as he looks around to see there’s no one in line to order. He makes a decision. He leans over the counter to speak to you in a quiet voice.

“So, I know this place a couple blocks away; they serve three hot meals a day for free and gives you shelter overnight.” You continue sipping on your drink and blink at him; you don’t really understand why he’s telling you this.

He sees your blank expression and continues, “They have a lot of donated clothes there, maybe you can find something warmer for yourself.” You’re just blinking.

“Do you know where 7th avenue is? You go down two blocks, and then make a left. Go down one more block and it’s the blue building with the green door.”

“Okay…” You start. You’re still not sure what he’s getting to but he thinks you’re just someone who doesn’t have a strong sense of direction. But that’s okay. He gulps and looks at the clock, “I’m off my shift soon. Would you like me to take you there?”

“Sure.” You take another sip. He nods and checks the clock, “10 minutes.” You nod and turn around to look at the décor. You move closer to the fireplace. It’s the first time you see a fire so close; so close, you can feel its warmth. You reach out to feel it but the closer you get, the hotter it gets. Before you actually touch it, the heat is already unbearable and you pull back. Fire: bad. You’ll stick with water.

15 minutes later, Jimin is out and Taehyung is back behind the counter. You thank Taehyung once again and he smiles at you and Jimin as you two head out.

“Merry Christmas, Jimin.” Taehyung mumbles to himself in a sing-song voice and grins mischievously.

“I know it’s really cold, but we can get you something warm to wear when we get to the shelter.” Jimin says as you tag along. You have to scurry a few steps every once in a while to catch up with him because he’s walking so fast. It’s too cold for Jimin to make a lasting conversation with you and he can only think how you need something warm on quick. Technically, you’re okay though. It can’t be any colder than when you first came out of the sea.

You two finally arrive to the shelter and he opens the door for you. Jimin sighs as he unwraps his scarf and sheds some other winter layers. The shelter is very nice, warm and dry. Perfect for you to stay.

“So do you normally come here?” You ask as he leads you to the donations counter.

“Hey, Jungkook. Can you get my friend here something warm to wear? This is all she has on.” Jungkook looks over to you. He’s surprised to see someone so young and pretty, but still in an unfortunate situation.

“Sure. What size are you?” You shrug.

Jungkook slowly nods with a sheepish grin, “Okay…maybe that wasn’t the best question to ask a girl. I’ll go find something pretty for you myself.” Jungkook enters the back.

“So what were you saying?” Jimin turns to you.

“Do you come here often too? For food, clothing, and shelter?”

“Huh? N-no. But I volunteer here often. Especially during the holidays.”

“Do many people volunteer here during the holidays? Is that what brings Christmas spirit to you?”

“Heh, depends on what you mean by ‘many’ people. By headcount, yes quite a bit, but in reality, if you look at the ratio of the community population, we’re very few. Many people put their Christmas spirit in religious activities, parties, decoration and environment, or some don’t celebrate it at all” He smiles at you.

“I personally like volunteering because I’m giving more than getting. It’s not necessarily the miracle-birth-of-Jesus type of meaningful Christmas, but this is meaningful enough for me.” He shrugs.

So there seems to be a meaningful and an un-meaningful Christmas?

“I want to volunteer too!” You exclaim, “Is it only during Christmas or all the time?”

“…It’s…all the time…” Jimin hesitates, “Uh, I’m sorry. Did…did I get the wrong idea about you?”

“What do you mean?” Jimin turns really red.

“I am so sorry! You, well, you don’t have money on you and you don’t have much clothing to keep warm... I thought that…you know, maybe…you needed some help…” Jimin looks down at his feet, super embarrassed.

“Um, to be honest, I’m not really sure what you’re getting at, but it’s okay. I, uh, forgive you? Anyway, about the volunteering; can I start right now? I should head home in a couple hours.” You’re more excited to feel the spirit of Christmas through volunteering. You’re not sure what volunteering consists of, but if Jimin can do it and it doesn’t sound harmful, why not. In the spirit of Christmas, you choose to volunteer.

Jimin’s ears turn red at the mention of your home. He thanks his lucky stars that you don’t seem to take any offense to it. But that still makes him curious about where you come from.

After Jungkook gets you a really nice and warm coat, Jimin brings you over to a sign-up sheet. You ask nervously if you have to put down so much personal information. He says that it’s not absolutely necessary, but the shelter is able to keep you informed about volunteering and donating opportunities if you do. You omit your personal information except for your name and age. Rather than your mermaid’s age of 60, you decide to divide that by three. Seems good enough.

You and Jimin spent the day volunteering. You can’t cook human food, so you served it to the ones who wanted it and helped Jungkook organize the clothes in the donations center.

“I feel great!” You say to Jimin after you two finally get a chance to sit down.

“I’m happy that you do. I still feel bad that I mistook you for…well, yeah.” Jimin takes a sip of his water bottle and forces his blush to subside.

“I’m very glad you took me here. Christmas must really be the best holiday.” You down your own water bottle too in one take. Every 20 minutes, you have to drink a whole bottle of water. He watches you in amazement to see you take in so much water at a time. Little does he know.

You look at the clock to see it’s already past 10:45pm. It’s not that you have a curfew or anything, but your body tingles because it misses the ocean so much. No matter if you can become a human or not, your natural instincts don’t give you the urge to stay human longer than 24 hours at a time.

“I should go home now.” You sigh. You throw away your bottle. Jimin gets up with you.

“Um…are you going to come back? You know, to help volunteer more often?” He asks quickly.

“Not for a while. It’s actually really rare for me to come out.”

“Can I take you home?”

“No!” You cry out and he raises his eyebrows at your outburst, “Uh, it’s too far away.”

“it’s okay. If it’s so far how do you even plan to get home, and all by yourself too?” He asks.

“Uh…”

So the mystery girl doesn’t have money or clothes, doesn’t want people to come to her house, doesn’t come out often, and experiences everything like it’s her first time…

“Y/N.” He says in a serious and low tone, “I know we're only strangers, but if you ever need any help, you can call me okay? Here’s my number. And if I can’t help you, authorities can. Truly, it’s better to ask for help. No one looks down on you if you don’t. Instead, you’d be very brave. Okay?” Once again, he talks to you in riddles. But his sincerity and his serious care for you makes you feel really soft and warm inside.

“You’re a very sweet boy, Jimin.” You give him a kiss on the cheek. He’s stunned.

“Okay, I really have to go now. Thank you for a wonderful day. You made me coming out here so worth it.” You scamper off. Jimin looks over to see that you’ve left your coat again.

He runs out to give you your coat but you’re already out of sight. He looks in different directions, but one he doesn’t count on is the direction to the ocean, where you’re already running over with glee because of all you got today, and also, you’re feeling pulled closer and closer to the salty waters.

I imagine Jimin is the kind of boyfriend whose favorite part of Christmas is sitting on the floor in front of a fire across from you, surrounded by large floor pillows and plush blankets, the moments before you exchange gifts

This was actually sometime early this year. Now I finally get to use this post at the right time. Merry Christmas!!!! :)

What BTS Does During a Christmas Decoration Party

I know it’s already past Christmas and all, but this has been on my mind for a while now.

Here we go…

- So you’re their good friend and know that they are going to be off on their break in soon. You live a couple floors above their place so you figured now is a good time as any before Christmas comes to spend time with them. You invited them all over to help decorate your place for Christmas. This is what will be happening…

- You open the door to see the boys’ happy greeting. It’s been a while since they got to hang out like this so everyone is excited to be here. They greet you one at a time as they come in to your home.

image

- You asked each of them to bring an item to decorate your house with something they thought would be good. You didn’t care if it was something they had lying in the house or just a sticker, you just wanted something in your house that represented them and their preferences. (you didn’t tell them, but you weren’t going to visit your family over the break so you would have wanted something to make you feel like you were surrounded by friends anyway)

- You were in the middle of cooking, so who else better to join in than Mama Jin? You finished most of the prep work, now is down to the fun part. Imagine him having you try out whether the food is good?!

- The Christmas tree needs to be put up and decorated. You set up photo ornaments all over your coffee table. They are pictures of you, them, you and them, and memorable moments from the year. You also had orb ornaments of every color. You basically told them to do whatever they wanted to put up, as long as the lights were your favorite color. Jungkook pulls out the box that has the artificial Christmas tree since he’s the strongest.

- Suga was the first to squat down to open the box, ready, pulling out the different segments of the tree and handing them over to the rest of them. He leads the group into assembling the tree, e.i. which segment goes first, spreading out the artificial branches so it looks even and natural, etc.

- After the Christmas tree is set up, he justifies that he’s done enough work on his feet so Suga collapses on your couch, lazily judging on the rest of them decorating, telling them that one spot looks empty or the other side has too many blue colored ornaments and not enough picture ornaments. To add to holiday spirit, he’s designates himself as the DJ, coming up with a Christmas playlist to blast all over your home. He saves this playlist on his computer and randomly pulls out a blank CD to burn the playlist for you over the holidays.

image

- Rap Monster wants to help decorate the Christmas tree but the Maknae line and J-Hope are kind of not letting him though, afraid that Rap Monster will break your ornaments or step on the bulbs on the floor while they’re unraveling the Christmas lights.

- Instead, he’s put in charge of decorating the rest of your home with the things they brought. Candles, stickers, their own ornaments, finding your speakers to play Suga’s playlist (yeah, Suga decided on the spot that that is what he’ll bring to your home), window decals, etc.

image

- J-Hope is helping out decorating the tree kind of, but he’s a little preoccupied with dancing to the Christmas playlist Suga is coming up with. He’s making conversation with everyone, whether you’re in the kitchen with Jin, Suga and Rap Monster (Rap Monster finished decorating the rest of the living room with their “house Christmas-ing decor”) on the couch watching the tree decorating, or the maknaes.

- Your Christmas tree is in the corner between a wall and a window so he’s closer to the window side, fogging up your window to draw cartoons on it and make silly faces at people who can’t see him because it’s freaking cold out so no one will really see him. Besides, you guys are too far up.

image

- Our lovely 95z, V and Jimin are messing around as they decorate. They’ll wrap tinsel around each other, point out the different photo ornaments and give comments and replay the memories. They’ll listen to Suga when he finally tells them to quit being fools and re-wrap the tinsel on the tree because it looks weird.

image

- Maknae Jungkook is probably most focused on decorating. He dodges the 95 liners and J-hope dancing around as he makes his way back and forth with the ornaments on the table and the tree. And also, because he’s most focused, no one notices that he’s cleverly arranging as many derp faces of the members as he can on the tree, where it’s most convenient for you to see in terms of orientation and height. He’s even brought some photos of his own to replace some of yours in the photo ornaments, the cool ones of course.

image

- The Christmas tree is decorated, the music is playing, the food is prepared. You all get to chill out at the dinner table and enjoy each other’s company.

image

- You guys settled in the living room afterwards. You told them that there were going to be no gifts, but through out the year, you couldn’t help seeing things that suited them so well, you had to get it. So you grabbed all your presents from your room and started to hand them out to them.

- “Aww!!! Y/N. We feel bad. We didn’t get you any presents, and this is the only time we get to spend with you before the year ends. We know you’re not going to get to see your family.”

“How did you know?”

“We’re all a part of Big Hit. Everyone knows everything.”

“What can we do for Y/N, leader?” Jungkook asked, with a very obvious tone that they knew exactly what they wanted to do. You raised an eyebrow and squinted at them.

“Boys…” Namjoon started.

image

They all lifted you up and J-Hope handed you the star to the Christmas tree. You laughed as they slowly made their way to the Christmas tree, goofing off with their steps but in unison so you wouldn’t fall from an unsteady foundation.

They got you to the front of the tree. “Thanks guys.” You smiled at each of them and put the star at the top. You connected it to a plug and the star lighted up. They slowly put you down and huddled around you.

“Merry Christmas, Y/N!!!”

Now that Starbucks brought back the seasonal peppermint mocha, id like to go to the mall and sip it on the second floor to immerse in the story of Santa's Present

Always one of my favorites. Check it out! And check at the rest of the 2016 Winter Stars

They're all my favorites here, especially the hearted ones. Id like to think that this era of my life and in my writing was really good, and a wonderful memory.
