"'Hoi Polloi'?" Maggie Repeated Confused And Tilted Her Head As She Raised An Eyebrow. She Had Never

"'Hoi polloi'?" Maggie repeated confused and tilted her head as she raised an eyebrow. She had never heard of one of her father's friends named Tess. Then again she barely had heard of any of his friends and she also never really asked.

For a moment, Maggie looked her up and down, keeping her distance just in case Tess wasn't really who she said she was. After a few seconds, Maggie looked up into Tess's eyes again. The woman in front of her didn't seem to be lying or she was just very good at hiding it.

Even if Maggie was good at reading others she still had her weaknesses and could be deceived. "I'm Maggie," she finally said in a calm but careful tone. She rarely told strangers her real name right away, but if Tess was a friend of her father's, it wouldn't make any sense to give her a fake name.

Maggie gave him a little smile. "I'm glad you like it," she said quietly. She was very relieved that she had found the right gift for him, even though she barely knew him. Of course she was aware that the thought alone was what counted, but it was still nicer if the recipient actually liked what they got.

Of course, Maggie could have taken the easy way out and just tried to read his mind, but she thought it would be rude to simply snoop into someone else's mind.

"Uhm… I also got some cake, it's downstairs in the kitchen if you want… But I didn't know how old you'd be so I just put a random number of candles on it…"

It had been almost a week since Maggie found out about Finn's birthday. Well 'found out' more or less. It wasn't like she did it on purpose, but sometimes the people's voices got so loud that her shield just failed and she couldn't really block out the voices anymore.

That's what happened with Finn, who had been thinking more often about this coming day lately.

Maggie was aware of the fact that they hadn't known each other that long or that well and if she was honest, she had no idea what to get him. Of course she could have tried to read it, but she still had respect for the privacy of others and there was nothing more private than the own thoughts. So Maggie had to guess. But in the end it's the thought that counts after all.

Slowly Maggie approched Finn, as she cleared her throat to get his attention before she handed him a box of pralines with a pendant that could be put on a necklace, bracelet or key chain, depending on what he preferred. Beside this, was a card that said 'Happy Birthday'. "I... uh... kinda found out it's your birthday. I know it's not much and I don't even know if you like chocolate but happy birthday anyway."

Maggie just shrugged her shoulders. He was probably right in what he said. She probably just needed to get out more, to face more of what she was always hiding and running away from, but she wouldn't admit it. It was much easier to just keep barricading herself behind closed doors and avoiding this matter than to face it all and learn to control everything that was going on inside her. However, she was sure that she would always prefer the quiet idyll to the hectic city.

"Maybe…" she finally said. "It's just not easy to get used to all of this." In the laboratory, where she spent most of her life, they hadn't really prepared her for living in a big city. For as long as she could remember, she had been isolated from the outside world. She didn't exist outside the labs and the world outside didn't existed for her. Even when she finally escaped, she remained hidden. For her it was a miracle that she stayed here so long. Maggie was always on the move and never stayed in one place for too long.

Maggie Just Shrugged Her Shoulders. He Was Probably Right In What He Said. She Probably Just Needed To

Maggie raised her eyebrow and grinned crookedly as she suddenly saw him jump out of the room like a bouncy ball that had been thrown too hard onto the floor. After Hank disappeared through the door, Maggie also got up to pack her things, not that she had much to pack. Everything she owned fit into one bag, which was always packed in case she had to suddenly and quickly disappear. All she had to do was grab her bag and leave immediately.

It took a while for the captain to be persuaded to let Hank and Maggie go, but in the end he had no chance against Hank's great persuasive skills. Maggie wasn't surprised, after all he had managed to persuade her to come here with him with practically no problem. So it happened that they had been in Colorado for several days now.

Maggie sat in front of the fireplace and had been quiet for a while as she stared thoughtfully into the fire. This was nothing new for her. If you knew her for more than a few hours, you already knew she did this often, starring thoughtfully into the distance or things. How long was she now living with Hank and the others? And still she hadn't told them anything about her. Nothing about who she was or where she came from. All they knew was that she was a girl named Mara which of course, wasn't exactly right.

"Hank...?" She finally broke the silence. "Can I tell you something? But you have to promise not to get mad…" She said quietly and carefully as she grabbed her right wrist, something she always did when she was unsure or afraid of something.

"I wasn't completely honest with you…" She added after a short pause, but didn't look in his direction and instead continued to stare into the fire.

Don't listen to that anon. Maggie is a really cool character and everyone who has a brain in their head can see how much work and thoughts you have put into her and the story.

I saw a lot of mainstream and Mary Sue ocs and Maggie is far from being one. In my opinion it was time that someone finally gave Hank a kid. Marvel seems to refuse to do that and prefer to portray him as the bad guy instead the dad guy who he really is and what we all actually want to see.

>>That's so sweet of you. Thank you so much Nonny <3 And yes I agree Hank really should have a child! It's a shame that he still doesn't has one in the comics... I would love to see some dad Hank in canon I would so make a rp blog for this kid of his!

Dad guy Hank instead of bad guy Hank for Marvel! ✊<<

>> I thought I would give a little update about all the comics I already read... Well let's just say my plan to read stuff in order was thrown out the window pretty fast... I actually wanted to read after the story timeline but yeah... Now I didn't really followed any kind of timeline the only timeline I used was for the characters Gabby and Abigail where I used this sites (x x)

For Beast I used what Muffins gave me but I didn't went through all of it yet. I also saw that this site also has a page for Beast so maybe I will also use this to guide myself through the chaos. And I'm already crying... Hank's has 60 pages 😭 I mean I'm happy there's so much content about him but thinking about having to catch up all of that... I probably gonna read only the pages on which Hank and skip the rest. And then there are still the comics with Kurt and some of the storylines I want to read like house of M, Hellfire Gala and what else there is...

And all I have so far is this:

Amazing Adventures vol. 2 (1970) #11-14 Marvel Team Up 124 Age of X-Man: Alpha/Omega, Prisoner X, The Amazing Nightcrawler Merry X-Men Holiday Special (2019) All-New Wolverine (Issues 1-30 & Annual 1) Ghost Rider (2016) (Issues 1-3) Hawkeye (2016) (Issue 12) Astonishing X-Men (2004) 1-30 + Giant-Size Astonishing X-Men (2008) Secert Invasion (2008) + Secret Invasion: Who Do You Trust? (2008; only the parts with Abigail + Beast and Wonder Man) Beta Ray Bill: Godhunter (2009) Spider-Woman (2009) 1+7

That's actually so sad.... and yes with Astonishing X-Men I ceated a little. I watche the series... I wished there would be a series just like that for more comics, where it's exactly the comic just as animation.

I swear I'll be so happy when I have catched up so far that I can read the new comics that are coming out this year... <<
