Original Concept

Like I explained before, with the otome game story I attempted to write, Hayate was another character I made for the story!

He was a ninja who encounters Cassie and brings her back to the castle where he's employed. He was a lot more playful in that story where as in Quiet Girl he's the total opposite.

Quiet Girl Concept

In Quiet Girl, Hayate is a bit older than Cassie and works as a martial artist teacher. His skills are usually in high demand and for a time he worked at Wry Co. in the companies film department to help with stunts and other action scenes. Most of the time he's a freelancer who goes wherever work is requested of him.

His main job is working at his parents dojo and taking care of everything inside. He teaches visitors about japanese culture, history and customs. He nearly lives there, but he's often at his own place.

One big part of his personality is how he interacts with Cassie...

Relationship with Cassie

I actually changed Hayate's personality because I felt the typical "relaxed and playful guy" is an overused troupe. So, I instead tried to make him unique by making him emotionless and unable to understand others emotions, both towards others and at himself. He's smart enough to know if someone's upset with him, what may be the reason, but he doesn't understand why they get upset at all.

How this playes into his relationship with Cassie is how she acts towards him. More or less, Cassie doesn't emote very well and is often regarded as heartless. No matter how true that is, it's a fact she doesn't show her emotions and is told she she should express herself more. However, she doesn't want to do that and is usually put between a rock and a hard place. Hayate, when they first meet, is dealing with trying to show more emotions to he can work well with his new employees, but Cassie doesn't really care that he acts strangely and never brings it up to him. He's grateful because people always think he's strange for how he acts and he's glad to have someone who allows him to be himself.

"As for you, you never cared. Not once did you ask me about it, either because you didn't notice or you didn't mind. I realized that's something I look for the most in people, when they just let things be and not try to understand me."

Akihiko has a very long history as a character. Having gone through several changes to being based on my actual life, Akihiko is an ideal boyfriend I made up when I was in middle school. Having dealt with a serious crush I never acted on, I always felt like I could bring myself some confidence to tell him my feelings if I just wrote what would happen. So Aki is made in his image and it made for an interesting story. Instead of Aki and Cassie ending up together, they wind up breaking up. Why, because when I decided to make them break up was at the same time me and my crush graduated from middle school and were going to different highschools. I felt like I should let him go and maybe my interest in him wasn’t reciprocated, so I shouldn’t force someone to like me, when they might not be interested in me. I wanted to show that sometimes you’re not meant to be with the “perfect” person, just the person who fills the half of you, you yourself can’t.

The stress of posting a story is still weighing on me and on this particular day, I'm feeling it in the form of restlessness.

Even though I am knee deep in Tears of the Kingdom, it can't occupy me 24/7.... Well-

Anyways, in an attempt to calm myself, I'm gonna talk about my new story so I don't feel overwhelmed with not doing anything.

So, 👏, the name is normalities, I'm posting it on Wattpad (check it out here) and it's a coming of age, romance with an anxious girl who's trying to understand why she stands out so much when she finds herself no different than anyone else.

I don't know if I'll do this for every chapter, but I wanted to talk about why I wrote the story/chapter since there's always some big reason behind anything I do.

In this case, I decided to write normalities because it's very rare for media to get anxiety right. While there is no "correct" way to write anxiety, as it's different from person to person, most shows and movies have anxiety as the person who passes out when faced with a difficult situation. While that can happen, most people who have anxiety just wouldn't show up somewhere if they felt that stressed about it. At least, I wouldn't.

So, I wanted this story to better represent an anxious individual, to see the spectrum of how it can present itself. It's also to showcase that it's not simply "get over it" to overcome anxiety and it also doesn't get solved in one day after a inspirational speech lol.

The friend she makes is also very important. It's to give an example of how to respond to someone who has anxiety. Again, it's different from every person, but I tend to be more receptive when someone is patient and understanding. When someone realizes I talk like a cynic because I'm thinking of the worst case possible, and they don't take offense to my words, I'm the most calm.

In my experience, I overthink someone's reaction to what I'm going to say, but if I can voice my concerns and not hear "that's not going to happen, calm down" then that's all I can ask for.

I really enjoyed writing this whole story, but very specifically certain parts later in the story. Getting to write a character who actually shares my concerns and irrational worries was something I never thought I'd do!

Oh, and if anyone does check it out, for one thank you and I hope you enjoy reading ❤; but, while it is done, it's pretty much just a 1st draft. So feel free to leave some constructive criticism because I didn't have it beta read and there may be some things that are major issues. I wouldn't be opposed to editing them even after it's published.

But, I'll thank anyone who read this whole post!

Koto

Koto is the cutest little baby boi 💓

Original Concept

When I was younger, I was obsessed with dating sims/otome games. When Koto was incepted, I was around fifteen and was playing Ninja Assassin. So, I wanted to try my hand in making something like that and wound up making a medieval themed Otome game.

Koto was the younger of the dating options and was a mage who could cast spells if he listened to a story from someone. From there, he could take the strongest emotion in the story and turn it into a spell. (i.e if someone's story was vengeful, he could cast a fire spell). The story was a little to hard for me to tackle as a kid, so it never went past the first few chapters.

Quiet Girl Concept

In Quiet Girl, he also works for Ankara as a playwrite. His main drive for script writing comes from real life. He often listens to people's stories and asks if he can turn them into plays

“You guys don’t get that this stuff is more important to others than it is to me… not that I don’t care about it, but I can’t honor other’s words if I take them and try to make them better. What makes these stories interesting is their human fallacy. If I go through and try to make it as perfect as I can, it takes away from what I heard.”

In his own life, he was raised by a single mother who was assaulted and contemplated aborting him. She doesn't and when Koto finds out, he grows a greater respect for his mother for allowing him to live. Koto does a lot for his mother feeling as if he should ease any burdens she has knowing that he's most likely a big mental burden for her.

Because of this, he is very optimistic and tries his hardest to remain happy for those around him.

Most of my male characters do struggle with body issues, and Koto is no exception. He isn't very muscular and feels he's inferior to those around him because he's not beefy. His general appearance is also more "feminine" so often tries to seem more manly through hiding his general interests and he attempts to grow facial hair any chance he gets.

Relationship with Cassie

Cassie and Koto are friends with a lot of similar hobbies and interests. They hang out with each other often and don't feel awkward in one another's presence minus Koto's general nervousness. Cassie is often a voice of reason to Koto, she fives him advice when he's struggle to decide something for himself. Koto is there fir Cassie in giving hee a friend to hear her out, she frequently goes to him when she's dealing with a problem and wants someone to listen to her. Together, they care a lot for one another and try, in their own ways, to show how much the other means to them.

So, I wanted to do this, cuz I love character clothes as they tell an interesting story about the character through colors and styles.

For this, I wanted to talk about the clothes the Obey Me boi's wear✨

Why them?

Well, because it's pretty common to hear people ragging on their clothes. Saying they look ugly and whatnot, but personally I can't agree. I'm glad they're not generic outfits and they rep the character's personality very well. I also have headcannons for their clothes, so I wanna share them!

I won't be talking about their RAD outfits or event outfits (Lucifer has a notable exception). I wanted to talk about their casual wear and human world fits.

So...

Lucifer's Casual Clothes

Lucifer is a typical stoic character complete with the CEO suits. In all seriousness, Lucifer has to keep up appearances and I feel why his outfit is over the top for "casual clothing" comes from his history.

As a former Angel, he most likely feels as if he should uphold the honor he once had even as a demon. Alongside that, he's pretty much the boyfriend second hand of Diavolo and has to maintain an air of importance and you're not gonna get that just wearing anything.

He's not a stiff, but he understand his importance and value and showcases that in his attire.

Lucifer's Human World Fit

I'm not gonna lie, when I first saw this, I thought we were gonna be in college or something 'cause he looks like a professor here. I'm sure we'd all like that. Though, what I said above applies here as well 💁

Lucifer's Beach Outfit

I wanted to talk about this, 'cause I remember seeing a Twitter thread of people upset that Lucifer wasn't shirtless. I wanted so bad to say "of course he's not, Lucifer would never be naked in public."

It's canon that Lucifer is a hot commodity and Mammon is always looking for a chance to sell his photos. Lucifer has explicitly stated that he's "not like that anymore" when referring to a more free and relaxed version of himself. So it's perfectly in character that he's not shirtless and I love that the devs didn't just forget that part of his personality in favor of fan service (personally I like the wetsuit, it looks really nice in his card).
