Today's scammer story

Got a call, I answered.

Lady saying someone has 'hacked' our Internet ('WiFi ip'), "okay" .

Get asked to check the motem, "why?" 'because your Internet has been hacked and the modem is connected to the Internet' "I get that but why would being hacked show up on the modem".

This goes on for a bit 'til she gets too flustered, then she sends me 'up to a higher technichan' (pfft).

He does his speel and I ask the same question, he just talks in circles and doesn't answer.

'Someone over seas has hacked your ip and is using your Internet' "what country? Where are the people who are using our Internet?" 'they are in queensland' "that's in our country though" goes on for a little.

'They are hacking to get your information' "my information or my parents?" 'yours' "oh" blah, blah, "I would've thought that they would want my parents information, they won't get much from me, they'd get a lot more out of my parents" '... How old are you?' "I'm a teenager" (I'm not) 'that explains why your a smart arse' (rude) 'can I talk with your dad' "sure" pass the phone to dad.

Enjoy watching dad verbally beat down the lack of knowledge the scammer has. "if your going to try and scam a systems engineer get another systems engineer, so that they know what I'm talking about" and then the scammer broke.
