this is cringe as hell but the past week i've been part of this amrev community has been so so so much fun. everyone is so welcoming and i daresay i've started to form some connection with people i reblog/comment frequently, and it's been amazing! can't believe i've been missing out on this for years, so thank you!!

on a more humorous note it's extra amazing because i've tried to join other fandoms through twitter and never really got anywhere. publish a post, get... 3 likes? maybe if i'm lucky a comment or quote tweet? but here everyone seems so much more open to interacting, and it's a confirmation of something i've tried to deny about my character that the hellsite tumblr suits me perfectly.

the cold hard truth is that we don't know these people, and never will. letters, anecdotes, historical events can do a lot, but we'll never have the full picture. "headcannoning" is an inevitable part of trying to dig into the past and the people of that time. professional historians sometimes say the most insane shit possible without proper evidence - and get published!

also hamilton the musical is in itself full of headcanons and historical inaccuracies, some of them on purpose. we've always been telling stories about historical figures forever. what is the odyssey? what is the divine comedy if not a self insert fanfic where dante forces his hero virgil to say things he wants to hear?
