I LOVE when children who juuuust barely understand ten percent of something find somebody (a toy or a smaller child, usually) who understands zero percent and they’re like “come hither and I shall take you under my wing and teach you my instant wisdom.”

I feel woefully tethered to the natural world right now.

Accidentally wound up on "hear me out cake" tiktok, and I swear, if another one of these bitches puts down an at-most-unconventionally-attractive human man, Lady Dimitrescu or Nick Wilde/Robin Hood I am going to lose my fucking mind.

Saw one where the first person they named was Disney's Aladdin and I tapped out so hard I entered a fugue state and didn't regain full consciousness for like a solid hour.

sorry for sounding too excited about my interests lol i forgot sincerity must give way to irony lest i appear as though i can find joy and positivity in a world you view through the lens of pure cynicism. my bad man i’ll make sure to mask my genuine happiness with a sardonic one-liner next time haha.

Dammit Ex Machina got made.

I was just thinking about what my "Act Naturally" [Ringo Version] would be (a role I would perform most naturally in.)

And unironically had the thought of telling a director: "I'd do best in a situation where a character feels like they're taking a Turing Test."

Very original of me I know. 🙄

I'm soooooooo special.

As a person with a personality wrapped around a husk of humor: the belief that making a good joke requires critical thought and unique thought runs strong.

The same part of yourself that can think you're funny can also think you're the best thing since baked beans, and maybe you are, or maybe you're a mushy apple.

You're neither.

You're a human.

And that's incredible.

What lovely sentient carbon we are.

Oh and teaching kids with memes seems like actually super fun.

Might get back into reading to make meme chapter summaries.

Oh.

Oh thats fandoms.

Imagine the Math Fandom (it already exists.)

I don't know what this is anymore.

Let's chalk this up to magnificence?

Toodles.

Looking for Queer Barber

Local barbers just have not been fitting the requirements:

NOT LICENSED [NO SCHOOLING]

Sad knowing eyes - but like in a fun way

Given >50 haircuts. Every time the victim didn't get what they wanted, rather what they needed.

incredibly niche shit talk [defunct internet forum drama?]

Forgets their scissors and decides to use my kitchen shears

Tells me to bleet like the sheep I am

Damp damp hands

Smells like swamp, sweat, and vetiver

Watched too many scenes of people sawing off ponytails with knives and kinda wants to try it.

Is packing [heat] - there are too many ways this can be read. I mean only the cool ways of reading it. Thanks.

Cries easily

Questionable camo

I can pay with 2 homemade margaritas and some beans.

Then leave.

Git.

Go.

Leave me to my flickering cave light.

Take a Stroll?

Take A Stroll?

No real notes. Didn't fit in my scanner. Corners are cut off, did my best to make sure the main line was all in there - 2 scans smushed together. Drawn with Acrylic markers in my bed on torn poster paper on-top of an off cut of plywood.

Have nice thing!

Ben

oh my god what is the Creature in your pinned post pls I’ve never seen it before what a beautiful beast

Oh My God What Is The Creature In Your Pinned Post Pls Ive Never Seen It Before What A Beautiful Beast

My all-time favorite animal!

It's a Takin (Budorcas taxicolor), a large Caprine native to Bhutan, India, China and Tibet.

despite sharing a similar appearance with and being within the subfamily caprinae with the Muskox (Ovibos moschatus), Takins are more closely related to sheep.

Oh My God What Is The Creature In Your Pinned Post Pls Ive Never Seen It Before What A Beautiful Beast

There is an interesting myth behind the creation of the Takin (Budorcas Taxicolor) that contributed to its high religious significance and therefore led to its adoption as Bhutan’s national animal.

Legend has it that in the 15th century when Lam Drukpa Kunley also referred to as “The Divine Madman” arrived in Bhutan from Tibet he delivered religious teachings to the people whereupon they requested him to conjure up a miracle. He agreed on the condition that he would be fed lunch – a whole cow and a whole goat.

Doing as he commanded, the people offered him his massive lunch. The Tibetan saint devoured the flesh of both the animals and left out the bones. Then he fixed the head of the goat onto the body of the cow and with a snap of his fingers uttered a mantra. The animal instantly sprung to life and began grazing on the meadows. He then named it the “Dong Gyem Tsey” (Takin).

Some good ol' manipulation tactics

My sibling has accused me of manipulation in the past, they said it like it was a bad thing.

If everyone has context for what happened, and no one regrets it - does the 'manipulation' make it 'bad'?

It's my understanding that manipulation is a broad category of tools used to get a desired outcome. Motive is the thing to consider. (Please don't hate the chisel.)

So you only have good motives! All good then.

Manipulatin' is nothing too complicated.

Some things to keep in mind if you want something from someone:

Make it easy for them to give it to you

Make it enjoyable for them to give it to you

Be nice to them

Enjoy your time together

Build human empathy

Ask for the thing you want [Direct]

Do stuff that they like

Appeal to their desires

Sell them on what you'd do

Do something for them

Maintain a healthy relationship

Don't be annoying about it [hard part]

DON'T BE ANNOYING ABOUT IT [JEOPARDIZES THE MISSION]

Don't demand more than you know they can give.

Fulfilling these objectives might require some expertise. Some planning. Some listening.

That top tier, delicious, vintage, quality manipulation *for good motives* leaves the other party satisfactory, happy, or at least not feeling like they got cheated. This means you can keep manipulating them [said goodly.]

How exquisite.

Problems that you may encounter:

They don't like you ;-;

They suck

You suck

They're too busy

They like their something too much to give it to you

Every problem that can exist

In practice my sibling was talking about me weaseling purchases out of our parents for my own benefit (I was a kid.) I'd do a song and dance about each new hobby I got into. I'd research for 40 hours the hottest yoyo's and sickest strings only to drop the hobby after my fingers hurt a lil. I also cooked a lot of dinners for the family, I chatted with my mom late at night about job anxiety, and I was a chill lil tot. I was and continue to be 'an easy child with quirks' [now a harder child - cause left the house. and is broke and spends most free hours obsessively scribbling.]

I didn't go too much into the specifics because. Uh. Weird.

And people who look up "how to manipulate" are probably not always the best people.

So. Next time you want a lil' treat, a ride, a whatever from your person. Give 'em the works. Make their fucking life better.

Sincerely

Ben!

proposing what I'm going to call Gaylor's Razor, which is: never explain normal shit as being part of a secret message that can only be decoded by over-analysis.

"These Taylor Swift lyrics are actually coded messages saying that she's a lesbian and is forced to stay in the closet! Any lyrics that are clearly about being attracted to a man are just to throw us off the scent!" Sometimes people, like Taylor Swift, are straight and write about being straight, because they are straight.

"The fourth series of Sherlock was deliberately bad because it was actually a coded message to us fans that there is a secret fourth episode that will make Johnlock canon and will actually be good!" Sometimes writers (even experienced writers who are normally good at their jobs) will write something that's not good, because no one is perfect. They're not going to waste everyone's time and money and energy creating something terrible on purpose as part of a grand master plan.

"Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, the Canadian Olympic ice dancers, are secretly married (with kids)! Their public relationships with people who are not each other and them repeatedly saying 'we dated as kids and now we're just friends' are just to hide the truth! Which they need to hide for some reason! Their relationship is obvious just from their physical chemistry when competing! JUST LOOK AT THIS TWO SECOND CLIP OF HIM BLINKING AT HER!" It seems counterproductive to put all that thought into hiding a relationship that doesn't need to be hidden but then also telegraph that same relationship in front of millions of people through planned choreography.

"But BB, what about times that people really are speaking in code or hiding something due to outside influences?"

If it requires huge leaps in logic, like adding all the letters in a sentence together and dividing by seventeen and that number matches the binary sequence for the color yellow so YELLOW MUST BE SIGNIFICANT, it's not a secret code.

If it requires focusing on teeny tiny details but discards huge ones, like analyzing someone's micro-expressions but handwaving away what the person is actually saying out loud with their mouth, or focusing on one specific line instead of the entire scene or song or whatever, it's not a secret code.

If both supporting and contradictory evidence are used to come to the same conclusion (ex: when Taylor says something that I interpret as gay, that means she's gay, and when she says something that I interpret as straight, that still means she's gay and just hiding it), it's not a secret code.

Trying to apply fandom meta analysis techniques to real life is a really good way of fall into conspiratorial thinking that can be easily exploited. You can totally try to predict what's going to happen in a story or choose to interpret a scene in a specific way; you can't do that in real life with real people. That way lies the kind of nonsense that leads to shit like "this image of pizza on a children's toy is actually subliminal messaging by The Cabal™ that proves that Pizzagate is real."

I think I met a new role model this morning, in the form of a professor.

When a student appeared tired, he said, oh are you tired? You didn’t have coffee maybe? That’s fair I only had three which is less than half than my normal consumption so forgive me if I’m not well woken up!

(Can’t insist enough on the fact that it was morning.)

Then he put a slide of his presentation and it was a species of animals and he went like ah yeah I’m supposed to talk about them to you but I don’t like them so I won’t! Next slide!

Other citations include:

So, you were all taught than the brain is three parts then 5, and I’m sorry to tell you your professor lied to you.

So, we don’t actually know how octopus brains work, or if they really have a brain, because when we try to study them they try to escape. And when we present them with a simple activity, they do something else instead. (For exemple, a typical activity would be pulling a lever to have a treat. An octopus broke the lever and played with it).

It’s actually harder to study octopus and crows than rats because they get bored.

Okay, you’re supposed to identify this picture, but you won’t be able to and that’s fair, so let me tell you what it is.

I put that info here because it’s cool but you don’t have to learn it. But you could, cause that would be a cool fun fact to tell your friend while drinking beers this evening.

Also important to tell that this man was very badly dressed, seemed to not have slept in like half a million years and not seen a hairbrush in even longer than that.

Im gonna have class with him next week as well and I can’t wait.

Reblogging this puts me in a bad position.

For the record I had nothing to do with any of this.

I'm glad to see she's doing well.

I was way too busy drawing ducks, or demons, or little frogs!

thank you to everyone who contributed to my 4/5 star rating on wikifeet, this is a huge moment for me ♡
