Going to be busy this July
First of all, a little update on Earth Grieve:

I added a score, experimented with paths for the enemies and gave the spaceship a sword. That's about it. I'll be presenting this prototype on class tomorrow. Hopefully I'll get a good grade out of it.
I would like to make a complete game out of Earth Grieve, but that will have to wait for now.
As for Hello World, I don't think I'll be able to post many updates this next month since I'm going to be busy. I entered this thing called Art Fight (google it), which sounded really fun to me. So now I'll spend this july just drawing stuff and use it as an excuse to practice.
See you in a month!

Oh man, I totally forgot to post las wednesday.
Here it is, the completed model sheet of Beazley. As you can see I got rid of the yellow spots on Beazley's face, since I thought they would clutter the new design. I also gave them a new color palette that exclusively uses pastel colors. I thought it would be easier on the player's eyes.
The pastel colors inspired me to give the game a crayon/chalk motif. Not sure if I can pull the crayon-like designs considering the limits of the engine I'm using, but I can definitely give everyone and everything a more "child-made" style.

Super late today. Oopsie.
I've been working on a redesign for Beazley since I considered that the original design wasn't "friendly" enough. The other two bodies in the pic are some ideas I scrapped cause I thought they were overcomplicating the design. I also felt like it made Beazley look "combat oriented" and that's a big no-no. He would be the last person to ever get physical (not even last, he would just never do that).
I've decided to give him a "bomberman-esque" type design to keep it simple, made his eyes a bit more cartoony (the original ones felt kinda threatening), and made his feet look like half hearts.
Hopefully I'll finish the modelsheet for next week's update.
Any and all feedback is welcome!!
I'm a tad late as usual, but check this out:

This right here got me an 8 (B for americans, I guess??) on Engines class.
Regarding Hello World, I have decided to get rid of the HUD. I wasn´t able to make it work and it just kinda felt like it was obstructing the player's view of the world.
I haven't been able to work on the game recently. College keeps taking most of my time, but I'll still try to keep posting litte updates every wednesday.

I ran into a little conundrum with Hello World, so today I'll give you a little update on my Advanced Development class project. Now titled: Earth Grieve.
As you can see by the gif above, The spaceship can freely move in 8 directions and can shoot bullets straight forwards.
Now, the thing with Hello World is that I'm having a little problem making the HUD work. Which then make me start questioning if I even need one in the first place. Cause if I want to display how many bliss points the player has, I could just use the stats menu that's already built in the engine. So now I'm wondering if I should delete the HUD.
I'll let you know what decision I took next Wednesday.

Gobbo Lynn has been added to Ashdopel Town. He is silly little guy, with a long nose and a long hat, that speaks in a completely wrong form of shakespearean. He will give Beazley a riddle and if you answer it correctly he will reward you with an item.
I intended to only put him in the first zone of the game, but now I might add him in other zones aswell.

Started doing the textboxes for the NPCs on Ashdopel Town.
I have discovered that making dialogue for different characters ain't easy. It's quite hard to imagine a way of speaking that is different to one's self.
Update about Updates
So the 3D thing that I was doing for college is finished. Take a look:

It's not perfect, it kinda looks like a messed up homemade flan, but I'm happy with it. I also did other stuff and I hope I get a good grade out of it.
Updates on Hello World will continue, of course. The problem is that being consistent with it won't be easy since college takes up most of my attention.
For Advaced Development Class they got me doing a document about a game idea that I'll have to submit next week. And then I'll have to turn that into a working prototype for the final.
Here's a little spaceship sprite that I made for it:

I'll keep you updated on it aswell. Might even put it on my itchio page if it ends up being kinda playable.
Honestly, for the time being, my performance in college this year hasn't been half bad. I haven't crash and burn yet. That has to mean something.
Also have been doing a little bit of yoga each night. Just wanted to let you know.
That's it for now. I'll try having something ready for next wednesday. See you next time!

Made a banner for my itch.io page. I like how it turned out.

Trying to add a HUD to the game.
In Hello World, every time you make a new friend you'll acquire one "Bliss Point". When you get enough Bliss Points, you'll be able to use Beazley's "Bliss Magic" powers.
Roma aliens like Beazley have the ability to use Bliss Magic, which allows them to achieve "even the impossible". The more friends you make, the more Bliss Points you'll get. Collect enough of them to make incredible miracles happen!

Capy from Carpincho Crisis (a past project of mine) will be making a small appearance in the first zone of Hello World.
If you wanna give Carpincho Crisis a try (don't), you can download it on my itch.io page.
(Sorry for the late update. I'm trying to fix my sleep schedule but my body ain't cooperating).

This right here is the Bianchi Zone. The Bianchi Zone is where Super Secret Bianchi resides.
There is one Bianchi Zone in each zone of the game. Find all of them and something cool will happen at the end of the game (or maybe nothing will happen, I ain't sure yet).

Portraits of some of the townsfolk.
I might change them or add more detail, though I'm not sure if I'll keep trying to add a light source and shadows to them since I'm not really good at it.

When an important character is presented in the game, a "Splash Screen" of that character will be shown to the player.
I got the idea of using "Splash Screens" from comic books. Sometimes in comics, characters are presented with a splash page.
This right here is a Splash Screen of Save Cat.
(damn. it's thursday already)
My Weekly Torture Starts Again
Today I've gotten back to college. Calling it a torture it's quite exaggerated, cause I love studying videogame development, but I'm a pretty lazy guy.
I won't stop working on the game tho. I think I can still have it finished by the end of the year, but keeping up with a consistent schedule might be impossible.
There are many goals that I would like to achieve this year: like finally understanding basic programming or improving my physical health.
College will probably have me doing some small game projects through out the year aswell, so I might share some of those in here.
So yeah. That all I got to say about that. Now look at this spinning pionono con dulce de leche.

Here are some doodles of the characters you'll interact with in Hello World's first zone: Ashdopel Town!

Two shots from the game's beginning "cutscene".
both depict Beazley and Friendship travelling through space and arriving on earth.
Wednesday will now be Update Day!
So I been posting updates on Hello World kinda when I felt like it, but I started to think that it might be a good idea to have an specific day to do just that.
So from now on, one new update will be posted every wednesday. Why wednesday? no reason really. I just thought wednesday was a good pick.
Now look at this spinning alfajor de maizena.

This is Friendship, Beazley's sentient Spaceship.
She is the one that takes Beazley to Earth at the very beginning of the game. There isn't really much to say about her since she stays asleep for the rest of your adventure.

This little guy's name is Save Cat. He's one of the first friends you'll make in your adventure on earth.
Save Cat will always be there to help you save your progress, but he ain't just a normal save point. He will talk to you and aid you on your quest to find your friend.
(The portrait looks bad, I know. I have no idea how light casts itself upon a body).

This is Beazley! The main character of Hello World!!
They are an alien from Planet Roma with the sole purpose of spreading love and kindness throughout the whole galaxy. In this game Beazley will travel around planet Earth looking for his missing friend while making new ones on the way.

Hey there, I'm Turco. I'm making a silly little game titled "Hello World", An RPG like game with no combat. The objective of this game will be to make friends and spread love throughout the whole planet while looking for your missing friend.
I estimate that the development of Hello World will last through the whole year since my main goal with this game is to make everything by myself.
I'll be using my recently created Tumblr account to keep anyone that's interested updated with the game's development and to advertise it a little bit. I'll be doing the same on my BlueSky .
If you care about checking my other shitty stuff, you can take a look inside my Itchio page.
Wish me good luck!
