SFW Rec Thursday: Enemies to Friends to Lovers

People like you must be the world's loneliest creatures by avienexjel tony stark is rich and popular and an arrogant asshole. in other words: his iq rivals einstein's, he's slept with most of his "friends" at least once, and he's so fucking lonely that sometimes he wakes up in the middle of the night and cries into the cold sheets on the empty side of the bed. it's no different at SHIELD boarding school, at first. half the student body hates him, half want to be him, nothing new. that is, until tony accidentally breaks james barnes's prosthetic arm, and he suddenly finds the most vulnerable pieces of himself surfacing whether he wants them to or not. Truly follows the prompt, which is usually not my cup of tea. I will admit that the earlier chapters of this story have had me literally screaming at my screen because of the utter injustice. It's still unfinished, but I still do like it so far (after getting over the beginning :P) and at least they're redeeming themselves.

Trust Falls by Niki Doctor Strange has a plan to tie Bucky Barnes to someone who can be trusted to never misuse the command words, someone who will always do right by him. The spell has side effects. It also chooses a person no one – including Tony himself – expected. The growing bond and the increasing trust between them is incredibly sweet. That spell was SO right.

Such Sweet Revenge by ali_aliska When the Rogues are back in the States after being pardoned, the New Avengers want nothing to do with them and as far as Tony is concerned, if he never speaks to them again, it'll be too soon. After all, he didn't spend the last year putting himself (and his family) back together only for his former co-workers to ruin all of his hard work. But then he gets a hand-written letter from the Winter Soldier himself, apologizing for the events that transpired and an off-handed comment from Rhodey about Rogers failing to take care of an obviously miserable Bucky Barnes sets in motion Tony's new, oh-so-evil plan to get some payback. After all, what better revenge than to steal the Winter Soldier away from his best friend? The only problem: Tony sucks at being vengeful, but apparently he's an expert at inadvertently falling in love. An absolutely amazing story that I would advise anyone to read. I love it so much. (Again, caution advised if you're not Team Iron Man though.)

The motives may or may not have anything to do with the café's very charming - and very hot - owner, Bucky Barnes. I squee every time. The cats, and the pining, and the misunderstanding...
