Roy knows she’s near breaking. The news about his eyes is especially crushing to her, who already failed at protecting him once, but he needs her steady and calm at his side. If circumstances were different, he would refuse to let her fight after losing so much blood (and maybe even be the one holding her). But now blinded, he so desperately needs the eyes of a hawk.

This is enough to snap her out of it. It’s not a harsh military order to get it together, but a request for her help. She understands what he’s asking of her, and she will give it her all. She will not be torn from him again.
