Born again identity one of the most episodes ever for being peak soap opera but also for being a fascinating funhouse mirror of the pilot. Sam is haunted by visions and helps a girl break her connection to the dead family haunting her. Dean still can't save the girl on the ceiling but he will break into her house and flirt with her vs dean does save the girl in peril but will not flirt with her he is too concerned with gazing at her husband. Sam being hostile after dean broke in vs cas gratefully asking how he can help him. Sam being unable to forget what he is and put the life he grew up in behind him no matter what he does or where he goes vs cas being free of remembering who or what he is and dean being tempted to let him. Can you ever get out?? The answer is still no but dean is feeling differently about that now. Don't call me Sammy vs am i cas? They make the first connection to the thing that killed their mother still being out there ready to harm them vs Yellow eyes' self proclaimed daughter latching onto them looking for purpose and protection. John's silence and left behind journal is their guide vs their surrogate dad breaking through the veil of death and saving the day by bringing dean back to cas without dean even knowing. Og pilot dean maybe being mad and dragging Sam into his delusions still feeling subtextually present in the pilot we got vs Sam literally having his delusions taken from him by cas who they leave in a madhouse
