Today I was given a compliment while being berated:
"You are being too direct!" (for a girl)
Growing up a woman often means you are taught to always be quiet and speak only when spoken to. That you should not raise your voice, speak with emotion, or cause a commotion. If you do then you are seen as crazy, hysteric. So, being told that I am too direct made me feel proud of myself for being able to piss off adult men by just saying what I mean amd not tripping around my words to feed their ego.
