its so funny to me when people think jason was the angry robin, because no! he was just a bbyyyyy. robin dick on the other hand was a child with anger issues and out for BLOOD. i love them both so dearly

A Robin tradition

13 year old Jason: Dick, I need to borrow the Batmobile! Roy needs help with his English homework, Alfred is busy, and the Batmobile is the fastest car we have!

18 year old Dick: [is mad at Bruce and knows full well that this is going to piss him off] Say no more

[Dick gets the keys]

Dick: I'll hide the keys to the motorcycles and the plane. When Bruce tries to call you, just ignore him

Jason: [running to the car] Thanks, Dick! You're the best!

[Years later]

Tim: Jason please help me! I need the Batmobile to save Kon from Kryptonite Zombies!

Jason: 'Kay, try not to hit any pedestrians

Jason: [takes the Batmobile keys out of his pocket tosses them to Tim]

Tim: You just had them in your pocket...?

Jason: Zombies, Tim

Tim: Right! Thanks! [Runs away]

Damian: Drake! I require the Batmobile. Connor needs assist-

Tim: [already tossing Damian the keys] Cool, see ya later

Damian: [already running to the car] Thank you!

I really hate when fans say that if Bruce had not taken Jason in then Jason would have died young and homeless. Saying that still makes Jason a prop in Bruce's story.

The other option I see is he would have just become a criminal. Even Bruce himself says that in the UtRH movie. Alfred called says he was dangerous in the comic. But come on, were talking about the kid that stoped a crime ring at his school before he was ever robin. Were talking about the boy who died trying to save the mother who had just betray him. Were talking about the character who's moral compass is as strict as batman him selfs. He wouldn't have just become any old criminal like Willis or any of the Gotham Rogues.

No, you know what he would have done? He still would have become Red Hood. Maybe by a different name because the name Red Hood is tied to the joker but I still think he would be doing the same thing. He'd look at the neighborhood that he grew up in. He's look at the system that repeatedly failed him and his family and he's say "I'm gonna fix it." Because thats really what he's trying to do in UtRH (the comic more than the movie). The system in place in crime ally really isn't the government that gave up on them but the criminal empire. He would see creating his own gang as a way to help his city.

Even without Batman, Jason Todd was destind to be a hero.

Summery:

Jason Todd hates cops. There are few things he hates more than cops. In fact cops are up there on the list of things that Jason hates most with domestic/child abusers and rapist/pedophiles.

Dick Grayson is a cop.

For them to have the brother relationship they both need something has to give (spoiler it ain't gonna be Jason)

(End Summery) Ya'll after two years of inactivity due to College Hell I finally posted a new story on AO3!

Do you think theres a memorial to the second Robin in Crime Alley? I like to think that even if the rest of Gotham didn't know where he came from that Crime Alley knew he was one of theirs.

Do you think they were devastated when it came out he was dead? I don't think it would be a official memorial or anything. When it was announced he was dead people started putting candles/cards/stuffed animals/food out on their roof tops in honor of him.

Maybe a few weeks later someone graffitied a mural somewhere up high in his honor. They did it in the middle of the night. After that people started to leave things there.

Theres no official care taker for the memorial. Everyone helps out. People who leave stuff take care to clean up any trash left around. Theres a few people who make sure theres always at least one candle lit.

One day its vandalized. Robin may have been one of them but its Crime Alley and he made life difficult for criminals. Maybe someone he put in jail got angry and vandalized it. The people fix it. There no call to action they just see it and take it upon themselves to restore it.

Do you think Jason sees it when he comes back as Red Hood? I think he found it in his first two weeks back in Gotham. He wasn't big yet. He was still taking control. He stumbles upon it on accident. He's not expecting it. He's grateful no ones around because he breaks down. The enormity of everything that happened to him hits him like a brick and suddenly he's on his knees sobbing.

Maybe once he's taken over and the people trust him he'll ask about it. He'll ask why they care about the second Robin. Why do you take care of the memorial so intensely? They tell him. They tell him they know the second Robin was one of them. They tell him how much hope he brought to the people that had none. Do you think he realizes how much he meant to these people?

Maybe someone connects the dots. They don't know who he is but they see how fiercely protective the Red Hood is of the alley and they remember the boy in bright colors and an even brighter smile. They look at this angry broken man trying so hard to do good and see the boy who died too soon.

The next day a mural of Red Hood pops up across from the Robin Memorial.

Because Robin!jason and nightwing!dick have a similar age gap to me and my younger brother here are somethings based off personal experience

- dick has bitten Jason’s finger for poking him too much

- Jason does that little kid thing where he sings to himself and makes sound effects

- if Jason is being annoying dick will pin him down under his leg and tickle him

- despite having an age gap of like 7 years they still have constant beef because that’s what siblings do

- anytime dick is on his phone Jason asks “are you texting your girl/boyfriend

-Jason does the iPad kid thing of like sitting half on the couch/ weird uncomfortable position thing while reading

- dick purposefully misuses slang to bother him even though he does actually know what it means

- Dick casually picking up and throwing Jason

- Jason calling Dick out literally any time he swears

- Jason got all of his music taste from Dick going through his cunty discowing phase so even when he comes back he still has the same playlist dick listened to when he was 18

- Dick bribing Jason into silence with treats

- the casual lies that older siblings tell younger siblings like “stop taking that bandaid off your finger. Last year I cut my finger open and the doctor said if it got infected they’d have to cut it off, do you want your finger cut off?”

Hc for Jason+Bruce because I just thought this was funny: Jason used to (still does) read Bruce bedtime stories.

Jason was a little nerd boy that didn’t have any close friends. He was the type of kid to do homework with a large grin. Saying this brings up the topic of his books.

Jason first comes to Bruce and simply just says, “Bedtime story?” Now Bruce was obviously a little surprised but agreed to it. Jason was still a kid, he might just find comfort in being read to.

He definitely did not expect to be in bed while this Crime Alley boy read to him while also ranting about how bullshit the movie was because it strained so far from the book.

And of course, Bruce is just lying there like “Well whatever makes him happy.” You can’t blame him either, imagine a mini thug kid reading you a bedtime story without stumbling on words, changing voices for each character, and confidently yapping.

Little does Bruce know that Jason did this because it was what he used to do with his mom while she was sick or recovering from an overdose.

I unfortunately loved this suit. WHY COULDN’T IT HAVE STAYED LIKE THIS?!?!?

Jason: I want to be like a caterpillar.  Damian : Explain.  Jason: Eat a lot, sleep for a while, wake up beautiful.  Dick: You know they have a lifespan of a week, right?  Jason: Jason: That's just another highlight

I like to imagine that when Jason (as Robin) gets dosed with fear gas he has a very different reaction.

He’s trained for years, including before Batman in Crime Alley, to choose fight over flight. (Unless he’s outnumbered, most guys though are drunk and can be knocked down really quick with a punch to the groin.)

So, when he gets dosed, he just stops. Sits on the ground, not moving, just breathing with his arms limp at his sides.

Many think he’s mentall freaking but he’s waiting. When anyone steps into his personal space, they don’t have to touch him, he immediately goes for the kill. He may not doing it but he’s going to try.

He won’t flail or scream or make a sound. Just calmly and collectively fight brutally. Throwing batarangs at their heads, dragging or throwing them with wire used to restrain them, beating them til they are unconscious.

He doesn’t care. His mind is blank and he becomes a killing machine. No matter the broken bones or the injuries because the adrenaline makes that go away.

He scares Scarecrow so much that he refuses to use the toxin on him.

Batman knows this, Nightwing knows this, and Scarecrow knows this. After all Scarecrow was Jason’s first victim. He was sent to the ICU to recover.

I’ve read quite a few stories where the Justice League finds out about Batman’s kids by some random event.

Now, it is my turn to add to this.

Batman has gone ‘missing’ and the JL needs to find out what happened. (He’s just sick)

So they head to Gotham, currently under watch of Robin (Jason Todd) and Nightwing.

So the JL is going around Gotham, searching for Batman when Robin catches Green Lantern and pulls him to a roof top.

“Get out of Gotham.”

GL is like ‘who tf is this?’ When Robin is surround by the JL, and shocked but plays it cool bc yknow pride.

GL uses his ring to hand a robin upside down, Robin uses colorful language to express his displeasure.

Everyone is like, shocked but start to ask where Batman is. Robin ain’t a snitch so he doesn’t spill. Wonder Woman uses the Lasso of Truth but still, he’s just, focusing on other things so he rambled about his school.

Nightwing pops up and is like, hey could Robin down. Batman is sick.

JL doesn’t believe them until Nightwing calls Batman to explain.

So, JL leaves and is like, Batman has kids, what do you know

Justice League bonding nights at Bruce’s manor. Video games and movies.

Hal Jordan is dominating all the games with Barry in close second. Bruce has had enough and calls Jason (robin) to beat his ass.

Jason steals a remote and demolished him and the high score on all the games. Even with the weakest characters.

Hal is like, I’ve played for a lifetime, wth.

Jason, ‘spite and insomnia are great motivators.’

The only one who Jason has trouble beating is Billy. Not bc theyre both great, but when they play against each other they will tackle each other. It’s not a game, it’s war.

Clay face can like turn into anybody. Imagine he turns into a young Jason during a fight with any of the Batfam, not Jason tho.

Like, he doesn’t have to do anything but that and he wins. Idk what they’re reactions would be but the TRAUMA

Read a fic where Jason was a singwriter and came up with this, (I’m really bad at this sorry)

Everyone knows about the swear Jar thing and know that Jason has a bad potty mouth. But I also headcanon that he will argue his way out of it so hard.

“Son of a bitch”

“Son of a is a title and statement of a persons position in relation to another. Bitch is a femal dog that generally isn’t derogatory towards that dog. Claiming it’s a swear makes it derogatory and therefore has a negative connotation”

“Holy shit”

“Shit is another word for dung which shouldn’t be punished for saying. Normalizing body functions is very important.”

“Asshole”

“It’s again a body part.”

“He’ll is a place that dead sinners go, where I will go. It is similar to damn in that it is simply a destination or place with a purpose.”

“Holy crap! Suck a Dick”

“Crap is similar to shit. I was talking about the person Dick, but either way, saying it’s a curse would count as body shaming.”

He’s gone, Jason’s gone!

Wally was having a very chill day, hanging out at home and watching TV. His phone rang and he picked it up.

“Yo, it’s Wally. What’s up?”

Wally expected Dick’s calm voice asking if he wanted to hang out. He was not expecting his panicky voice, near shrieking.

“He’s gone, Jason’s gone!”

Wally sat up straight, attention fully on the conversation at hand.

“What?! Calm down! What happened to Jason?! Is he ok?! Calm down and talk to me?!”

Dick breathed out slowly, “I was watching Jason and he’s gone missing! His suit is gone and I don’t know where he is!”

Wally collapsed into the couch, “oh my god! I thought he died!”

“What?! Why would he be dead? Never mind, get over here with your suit and help me find him!”

Wally hung up, put on his suit, and ran over to the batcave. When he stopped, he stood behind Dick, who was also wearing his suit. Dick jumped and sighed.

“C’mon, I have an idea where he could be. I just need you to make sure he doesn’t run away.”

Wally nodded and got on the bike behind Dick. He drove out and headed on the highway to Gotham. After a drive that ended just inside of Old Gotham. The bike was shut off and they got off.

Wally picked Dick up and they zoomed onto the roofs, Dick directed him to the proper roof where Jason sat.

Wally put Dick down and watched Jason’s back as he breathed. He sat on a high sky scraper next to a gargoyle. There were soft whispers in the air and light gray smoke floating from in front of him.

Dick silently crept up and set a hand on Jason’s shoulder. He burst up and held onto the gargoyle from falling.

“What are you doing here?! Don’t sneak up on me like that!”

Wally zoomed over and picked Jason up under his arms and set him down on the roof a safer distance from the ledge.

“You smoke?”

Dick’s head immediately snapped to Jason’s hand that he put behind his back.

“I am SO telling B about this!”

Jason scoffed, “I’ll tell B you lost me and didn’t notice for three hours!”

Dick scoffed and fired right back. Wally laughed to himself. Despite how smart and cool they seemed, around each other they became typical brothers.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Red Hood and he is so cool in most comics he is in.

BUT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD QUIT MAKING HIM AN ANGRY AND BAD ROBIN. PLEASE. he wasn’t like that!

Him and Dick had a wonderful relationship! Dick GAVE HIM HIS OLD ROBIN COSTUME TO SHOW HE ACCEPTED HIM. They were brothers in every sense.

AND Jason was JUST AS HAPPY AS DICK WHEN HE WAS ROBIN. He wasn’t angry or over excessive til much later in his career, mostly towards the end.

I’ve gotten into a Billy Batson craze recently. Mostly just him being a teen and cussing and being a little shit. It’s so funny to me, especially with the league.

I especially love the creator kathkin on ao3, just perfect Billy Batson.

Anyway, I thought about Robin Jason meeting Billy. Batman would introduce them and immediately be like, ‘I’ve made a mistake’.

Two street kids bonding and stealing shit together, roasting everyone, and just living the feral child life.
