As much as I find this ship adorable, I don't feel like og!Lucifer would let it happen, because he would be scared of being even more vulnerable to Diavolo.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think that Diavolo is a bad guy and he doesn't either, but Lucifer has this bad tendency to keep huge secrets from his loved ones and I think he'd be too scared to spill his secrets by accident by getting to close to the people that have technically influence/power over him.
(For exemple, in the og game he locked out belphie to protect him from Diavolo in a way and he couldn't have kept it a secret if they were even closer)
I feel like Lucifer does feel affection or has felt affection towards Diavolo, but doesn't/didn't allow himself to indulge in them
With that said, Diavolo totally has a crush on him lmao
