They don't meet much since he lives in Galar, but she always watch his matches, and whenever he visits she's the first to welcome him. She values his experience and often asks him for advice on how to be a good gym leader.
Even though Kabu has lived in Galar for a long time, he never forgets his family in Lavaridge. He takes time to visit them during off season. As a gym leader himself, he understands the pressure Flannery faces, especially since she has to live up to the expectation because she has Elite 4 grandpa and a famous gym leader uncle. So he always helps her, giving her advice on managing gyms and trains with her. She loves his Galar pokemons, especially centiskorch.
