"Hyung... I'm glad I could spend my last day with you."
I hadn't even gotten past the summary when the words 'oh shit' entered my mind. I hate to love apocalyptic/ end of the world aus because they always bring out the most heartbreaking emotions and this was no different.
Mai you write so beautifully. I could tell how strong of a writer you were ever since you posted that soul-shattering drabble of Namjoon in the discord server. It’s so unique and special and just wow! I really loved learning about the beginning of Hoseok and Yoongi’s relationship. In terms of this scenario, it felt so real and true to them and I was smiling while I read it. Though of course the ending made me a bit misty-eyed.
You are truly such a beautiful writer and soul and I’m so very glad that I met you Mai. So keep writing. I’ll always be ready for whatever you post (although my heart will tell a different story.) I’m sending all of my love.💕💕💕💕
The Last

genre: angst, apocalypse!au maybe?
warnings: implied death
summary: Two best friends spend their last night together under the stars.
a/n: this was my very first fic after many, many years away from the writing world so i am very rusty. I’ve revised this too many times to count… I still have a lot to learn and I appreciate everyone who takes their time to read my story. Thank you :) crossposted on AO3.

“Hyung… I’m glad I could spend my last day with you.”
Hoseok gave Yoongi a smile that Yoongi noticed did not have the sparkle it usually did. Yoongi’s expression matched his friend’s sad smile and he extended his hand to which Hoseok accepted gratefully. The two men held hands firmly and savored each other’s warmth. No further words needed to be spoken that night. The two companions laid together on the cool grass atop a hill watching as a flood of blood red mist from the night sky slowly overtook the cityscape.
Yoongi’s eyes were glued to the sky and he gripped Hoseok’s hand tighter. He cursed whatever gods existed in this universe. If so many people believed in hundreds of different gods why were none of them coming to rescue their petty human worshipers? Then again, he didn’t believe in the gods so maybe the believers were already rescued and he, the unbeliever, was left behind to suffer. He did not appreciate the thought that the fate of his life was subjected to the whim of invisible beings.
He was not ready to die. But… if he really was going to die tonight he did not want his last memory to be of that damned sky. He turned to look at his dearest friend for what might be the last time. He still had so much he wanted to tell him… his sun, his hope… His lips curled into a faint smile as he thought back to the moment several years ago when Hoseok had spontaneously declared himself as Yoongi’s best friend.

Do you love breaking my heart with these hanahaki stories Rach? Because it hurts. Especially when you said that the words filled Hoseok with dread. Now I’m laying in bed contemplating everything and I can’t even imagine how she must be feeling. I hope that this doesn’t shatter their relationship.
Thank you so much again Rach. You have always been so sweet to me even though you enjoy seeing me in so much pain. I’ll still send all of my love though😘💕💕💕💕

Things You Said Masterlist

“I can’t believe you got drunk.” Grumbles Hoseok as he does his best to get you both into your apartment unharmed.
You giggle at this and put even more of your weight on the older boy, eliciting something from him that sounds vaguely like “Oh, the things that I deal with for you”
Once he had managed to kick off his shoes without both of you dying, he scoops you up into his arms knowing that you wouldn’t want your dirty shoes tracking through your apartment.
“You know that you don’t have to do this right?” You slur. Even in your drunken stupor, you couldn’t deny the feelings that constantly bubbled up inside you near Hoseok. Or that may just have been the flowers.
“You’re my best friend! What are best friends for?” His signature boyish grin settling across his face while a frown settled on yours.
“Is that really all I’ll ever be to you?” You whispered just quietly enough for him to hear.
“Well, why wouldn’t it be?” He bent down and did his best to undo the death contraptions on your feet?”
“Why, do you want me to be more?” He easily flirted.
Normally when you weren’t in your drunken state, you would do your best to brush it off, but clearly drunken you had other plans as you felt the familiar feeling bubble up inside you.
Coughs filled the air and Hoseok eyes widened in alarm as he watched your breathing became uneven as you started retching.
“Oh my god, are you gonna puke?!” He shrills. “Let me get you some water or something oh no this isn’t-” You feel tears spring to your eyes as your breathing becomes more strained. Hoseok is still in a panic when it happens.
Once the delicate pink petals fall from your mouth, stained with the lightest tinge of blood, Hoseok shuts up immediately.
Your best friend unabashedly stares at you, eyes wide and mouth gaping. You cough a few more times before shooting him a weak smile. With as much enthusiasm as you squeak a single phrase that fills Hoseok with dread.
“Surprise, I’m in love with you.”
But the remembered feel of him shuddering beneath your touch made your breath hitch and feet stumble. There was no fooling yourself, and you knew it.
Emily! Hi!!! It’s so nice to see that you’re back. I missed you so much, and when I got a notification saying that you were back, I was so excited. It’s relieving to have your wonderful presence on here and to be able to continue reading your amazing stories. I hope that all has been well for you and that you’ve been taking your time in healing.
You write with such cadence, Emily. I feel like I was jumping back into familiar territory as I began reading this piece. Everything was just so you. From the detailed construction of the world enhanced by your artistic and vivid syntax and diction to the dialogue that just captivated me until the very end, this story is the epitome of beautiful storytelling itself, and just you and your words continue to make me realize that this is why I love reading so much and that this is why I wear glasses. My eyes never strayed away from a scene, a sentence, a word while my eyes ignored the screen of my phone. You had me hooked from the beginning of it all, made me feel as if my phone was nothing of existence as I immersed myself into their world, and I’m forever grateful that you were able to bring me such strong emotions.
One thing that I loved about this story between Hoseok and the main character was that things were never rushed. There was a natural purpose and build up that carried throughout, but the spark that set alight a thousand matches was the simple question of “What is your name?” The sexual tension that was carried on after this was so good. You could feel it lingering in the background in almost every moment that they shared together. Especially this scene:
“___.” Your hand paused above the door handle, your breath caught in your lungs at hearing your name on his lips. You waited through the tingle that ran down your spine, slowly turning around to face him again. He waited as you gathered the courage to lift your face, meeting his searching gaze with trepidation. He spoke no words, simply keeping your attention locked steadfastly on him. The only noise that filtered around the room was the steady drip, drip, drip of ink from his quill that he kept hovering over his letter.
“You may go,” he finally spoke after several long, agonizingly tense seconds.
I could feel my breath pause as I read this part. Even more so during the massage scenes where things just felt completely heated and overwhelming with all of those emotions. Wanting to have each other, but cannot.
By far, my favorite scenes were the last few ones. The repetition and parallel structure of "It was his smile" while Hoseok was committing those acts of flirtation and her following with her “knowing” what he was doing, and knowing that a line had been crossed ever since that first massage that can’t be undone. His smile is, quite literally and figuratively, damning.
Also, the inserts of the bits of conversation that mark Hoseok as someone loyal. As someone who is a man of God and who would never commit an act so sinful as adults while you described the seductive, sexy, intense, raw act of her massage was poetry itself. It was a complete juxtaposition of his exterior persona and who he was right then and there. It was like Adam and Eve and the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden, and I adore how you crafted that in there. Your mind is complete and utter gold. And, one thing that I also marked as my own interpretation of a symbolic object was the clock because it was not only used as a symbol of the changing hour but a marker of the changing of stages of this forbidden relationship.
This story was complete brilliance. And it’s so cool how this is based around your distant relative. I can’t wait to read what happens in Part II. Thank you so much Emily! I’m sending you my love.💕💕💕💕

A/N: Hello lovelies~ This is part 1 of a two-part story based loosely on an ancestor in my own family. After doing a DNA test, I was discussing the results with my cousin and she told me the story of one of our several-times great grandmother and her circumstances. I was inspired and decided to explore what it might’ve been in this. I hope you all enjoy it! It was such a pleasure to write.

Okay, so, after having a conversation with my two very non-sober friends who started off talking about Rocky Mountain oysters and ending with Star Wars, I’m here!
So, this year hasn’t been the best of years for anyone. Obviously. But, for me and considering the time of year we’re in right now, this story has put me into the Christmas spirit.
Like all of your other stories, this one is entirely different than the rest. It makes me wonder just how many ideas are swimming in that mind of yours, but I feel like I would be completely overwhelmed😂. You have the main character, who has hit one of her, if not the lowest of her lows and is trying to stay afloat, and Hoseok, her ex-best friend who seems to have it all together except one thing: her.
I couldn’t take my eyes away from this story. It was so picturesque and movie-like. It felt like an entire movie was flashing behind my eyes, and I constantly wanted to know what happened next. Reading about why Hoseok and the main character fought and ended their relationship hurt. It was so sad. And when it was complemented with the flashback of Hoseok putting stars on the ceiling of her room, it was like a punch to the gut because of how cute it was. But then I laughed at the bit with the Kardashians because god, I loved that 😂, but of course, I couldn’t chuckle for too long because of Hoseok saying, “What about after?" during their conversation at the coffee shop. Like, do you know that I'd cry right then and there if that were me?!?!
It’s okay though.
The penis cookie cutter fight was thoroughly entertaining. That entire scene actually was one of my favorites, not because of that bit, but because you also got a chance to really see the main character and Hoseok beginning to rekindle their relationship. I feel like that balcony talk was needed because that, in my eyes, was the bridge for everything to come later on. I loved how you were also able to see and understand why Hoseok and the main character felt the way they did and why, especially with Darren- and omg DARREN?!?! Can we talk about Darren for a little bit because he honestly pissed me off. When he texted the main character while she was tasting cakes, I could only think “Oh nooooo” because I KNEW that he only wanted the cream, and it wasn’t the creme brulee type of cream that they were tasting😒. I’m proud of the main character though for ignoring him not once, but twice. And when she told Sara to block Darren... it was literally like the fake applause and “ooohh” that they use in shows. I was like, yes girl!!!!
The rest of the story played out so beautifully. It was nice reading conversations about expectations and flaws and wanting to be perfect in your parent's eyes because it’s something that I can faithfully relate to. Even today, some feelings of inadequacy popped up, so having someone else talk about it in a way that feels universal and something that I, a woman who has just entered her twenties, can at the end of it all feel comforted feels nice. It makes me want to give my parents an extra hug just because.
Also, the part when Hoseok was recounting all the times he said I loved you to the main character was so, so cute (the star one and the one at prom the prom were the cutest to me.) This entire story hit me right in the feels, and I’m glad that they were able to have their happy ending (can I add that her grabbing her shirt on the way to the bedroom made me burst entirely out into laughter!! I was dying, but also congratulating her on playing it safe during the heat of the moment. We wouldn’t want anyone else to come in during the middle of it and see that because that would be awkward as hell!)
Thank you so much Shanna for making my night. This was such a nice treat! Now because of this story, I’m craving hot chocolate with marshmallows, so bye for now! And as always, my heart and love is yours💕

"I thought to inspire some more husbandly instincts in myself."
His head lifted from the crook of your shoulder, snatching your heated gaze with his own as he pulled back to look at you. "And was it successful?" you whispered softly, lips scant inches away from his own. He observed you for several long moments, his gaze searching as it roamed the whole of your features.
"No," he said at long last, his voice just as soft as he confessed his guilt to the silent room. "Not even once."
I don’t think you realize how excited I was to read the last part of this story, Emily, and I’m so glad that I had enough free time to read this during my break.
The continuation from the first part to this one flowed so smoothly. Through time, you begin to see that the more Hoseok and the main character gave into and admitted their guilt, the more they wanted each other. When it came to the moment where they met up in the study again, the one place where they indeed have committed the most adulterous acts, the ticking of the clock was a ticking time bomb to their pending carnality.
Also, the parallel of Hoseok’s touches from the last chapter, how they were first testing to now deliberate and desired, was nice to see. It was like a silent agreement after their time again in the library because they knew what they wanted and felt guilty about giving in, but they wanted more, so much more, because it felt good. It’s like the saying “forbidden fruit is always the sweetest,” and it was interesting to see how everything unraveled from then.
When it came to the climax, I knew deep down what was coming, but it was still chilling to see it through. Their cheating was revealed, the pregnancy (which, I was actually surprised that Lady Giselle got pregnant too, so I was half right about that). Everything else was so entertaining yet so overwhelming to read. My heart was racing the entire time because I didn’t want anything bad to happen to the main characters, but considering everything, it felt like it was bound to happen, so I just had to continue reading on with my teeth clenched and let everything fall into place as you wrote it.
This was a really fantastic story to read. Even more so because this was based on your familial history which was tragic, but beautiful to read. Thank you for writing and sharing this story with us Emily. I loved every second of it. I’m sending you lots of love.💕
