Apple Crisp - Tumblr Posts

Making apple crisp (hopefully)!
It’s in the oven right now. I basically spiralized my apples and then chopped them up. Couldn’t find the apple corer-peeler-slicer or whatever it is, my favorite doohickey, but we have a spiralizer that worked pretty well. It sliced them really thin. I might use that again for something else. Apple and peanut butter sandwich maybe?
Anyways, I sliced my apples and then put a little lemon juice on them while I made the topping. I mixed quick oats with cinnamon, brown sugar, and some of the apple butter we got yesterday at the same place as the apples. It’s baking for 45 minutes now and smells delightful. I will update when they are done! (I’m doing 2 trays so I can give one to my brother.)

Well, they’re out! They don’t look too different, but the oats are crispy and the apples are cooked. It has to cool, but I will update again on the taste when they’re cool enough not to burn my mouth!

So, the family verdict is that it is good, but it would be better with ice cream.
There’s some things I’d do better (like putting all of the apples in one pan, because it’s definitely kind of a thin layer, and maybe adding some apple cider or some water to get it a little bit of liquid, and making more topping…) but overall I’m pleased with this first attempt. We have two more apples so we can find something else to do with those!
