8 Hour Writing Update - Tumblr Posts
HOUR 1: It took a while to actually get warmed up to writing but I'm currently on a roll. Snacks help.
currently listening to RE:0 from the soundtrack of the movie Promare.
Greetings friends, Aperture-Hag here! So when I saw that my writing music playlist was almost exactly 8 hours long it got me thinking - “if someone can be expected to work 8 hours as a “standard work day,” what would happen if someone spent that time doing nothing but writing?” So that’s what I’m testing on myself today. Starting at 12pm Mountain Standard Time I will be spending an entire “work day” just writing (yes, probably all fanfic). I’ll do check in posts on my mental state every hour with one hour long “lunch” break.
No matter what you’re up to today, let’s all make it a good one!
HOUR 2: Okay I'm getting a little tired of it already but I'm determined to keep going. I've hit my over 2,000 word count and am sad it's not going higher. Granted, I didn't outline this scene, so I'm chugging through it hard.

HOUR 3: Guess who's on a roll and is struggling to find a place to stop? That's right, this guy! Except I need to grab some lunch. My break starts now.
currently listening to Caravan from the Whiplash soundtrack.

HOUR 4: Okay I had my lunch break and did another hour. This day is actually flying by, which is surprising. Clocked in about 4,700 words.

HOUR 5: I keep spacing out and staring at nothing and end up not doing anything for a while.

HOUR 6: I'm past 8,000 words and my new goal is 10,000. It's gotten really difficult to keep writing and the words just feel...dry? When I type them? Like I'm running out of juice. I think I need to take another break (might as well make it a longer one this time). I'll be back in 2 hours if not sooner.

HOUR 8: I did it gang!!! I had eight full dedicated hours of "writing time." Now I know how it feels to be a big-shot author who doesn't have to have a real job, I guess. It's better than desk work because there's more self control over your schedule, but when it drags, it can get really frustrating.
Probably not something I'll ever attempt again, but hey, I got nearly 12,000 words out today!
last song on the playlist: An Ending from the Undertale Soundtrack
Hope ya'll have a good night :)
