pisces mercury in the 29th degree (western tropical astrology)
As I sit here in front of my computer, facing a blank page and taking sips of the Peaberry coffee I was gifted, various images and descriptive words come up to describe my pisces mercury placement. “Creative, scattered, fantasy, Neptunian, scattered, watery, spiritual, artistic, fickle, damsel-in-distress, boundless (and boundaryless)...” I write reluctantly. Why is it reluctant?
The sister sign of Pisces is Virgo. Virgo is grounded in comparison to Pisces. It’s the sign that is soothed by completing daily tasks, the feeling of getting something done, and improving the environments in and around it by way of organization. When one clears up a space, there is room and flow. The energy that once was has been dusted out the window; the weight of it taken by the wind. The area is new and light, welcoming a hearty breath who knows of time well spent.
So what’s the opposite, but similar to the description of Virgo? Imagine an inaccessible cave. Is it dark? Or does it have glowing mushrooms or creatures? Now, in this cave, there’s a pond, or a lake - a source of water. Does the water have glowing plants or creatures? How deep is the source of water? Can you see the end?... If your cave was dark, it’s hard to see or know what’s in it. You can only imagine what’s in there - nothing, or things you want to discover - or alternatively, things you don’t want to discover. If your cave had glowing things, it would seem like something magical and otherworldly. It would inspire awe and thoughts of “how does something like this exist?” If you felt affection for it, it’s something you’d want to protect, or even keep secret so the place can live in peace, away from the prying eyes of beings who’d change up the place for their own benefit.
Imagine your internal world as you would imagine the cave. What would you find there? Is it anxiety-inducing like the cave without glowing light? Or do you find it to be a magical place, a sanctuary you’d want to protect? Is it a place you welcome anyone in, or none at all? Regardless of what it is, pay attention to how it makes you feel.
If you don’t bring in the Virgo energy to your internal state, the water in there could be stagnating, the darkness overwhelming, and the atmosphere crushing. What does it mean to bring Virgo energy to a cave that feels hard to access?
In the Pisces version, understanding and acceptance is the key. Seeing things for what they are. Unconditional love is the torch that keeps you warm and safe. The things in the cave only hurt you if you continue to let them. In this cave, you are the determiner of the atmosphere, of the creatures, and the waters. I hope you build an internal state where when you enter and leave, you can let out a hearty breath who knows of time well spent.
