Usotsuki (Liar)
So, I’ve recently started listening to Japanese music, or as people call it; J-pop, and I cannot get the song out of my head.
Actually, I’ve always loved J-pop music, any kind of Asian music. They’re so addicting to listen to.
I’ve discovered a band called Yorushika, and they’re a rock-band duo that are very secretive, never shown their face in real life, or even in their music videos.
Well, anyhoo, enough about my rambling, let’s get on with the show, haha. I loved the song called “Usotsuki” which means “Liar”, by Yorushika. I have the song fully translated, so let’s go!
The rain and flower petals fall
I only imagined your blushing cheeks
I’m always drinking a bucket full of moonlight
Really, it tastes like the night
A weak, transparent taste
I don’t mind if you smile and say, “is that so?”, though
I’m waiting for you
After summer ends, the town is quiet
I finally got back into my room
Night came
And I’m admiring such a beautiful moon alone
Really, my tears were made of gems back then
I don’t mind if you smile and say, “is that so?”, though
I’ve forgotten your voice long ago
Both the memories and the love inside me have died
I’m heading towards that summer, when we walked the beach where the wind doesn’t blow
I want to hear you say goodbye
I can’t even say a word
As if I’m just falling into a slumber
And, like that, I’m waiting for you
I grew older by a year
Then, spring arrived to greet this empty room
I’m drinking love, by scooping it up with a bottomless ladle
Really, it’s bland, and I get thirstier the more I drink it
I don’t mind if you smile and say, “is that so?”, though
I’m waiting for the night
I want to hear your humming
I can’t even say a word
As if I’m just falling into a slumber
And, like that, I’m waiting for you
I don’t remember how your eyes looks like
I’m not drawing the shape of your mouth
I can’t even say a word
And I’m not waiting for you
I don’t recognize your nose
I’m not imagining your cheeks
Even “goodbye” remains unsaid
And, like that, you’re becoming the night
And there you have it! The whole song translated!
For those who don’t know what this is about, I can’t tell since it’s a spoiler, but I will say one thing: it’s related to the movie “A Whisker Away”. Really cute movie!
Thank you all for reading my blogs so far, it really means a lot! I love you all! ❤️

This song is by Yorushika, again. I hope you enjoy reading this!
The clock has rung, so I finally opened my eyes
I caught a cold yesterday, and that feels a little like a lie
Though I try to go out, ah, the weather forecast said it’s probably going to rain today
The dawn won’t come, so I won’t go out either way
Being thirsty, or feeling pain in the heart
All the human parts of me are in the way
I raise my head, because of how fast ‘goodbye’ came
If someday the dawn finally comes…
Please, wake up already, look
I have pictured you half-asleep so many times
It’s good that I finally got my umbrella and decided to try to go out, but I think maybe I’ve thrown away my shoes
There’s no way that I’d have the courage to go barefoot
I guess I really don’t care
What do I want to do?
What should I have for dinner?
I think I’ll go out when it clears up
I really prefer not to see any humans, though
With this pace, I’ll swim through today
If my hand could finally touch you…
Please, wake up already, look
Because even if I forget, I’ll always remember the half-asleep you
Before the hill, you’re there, saying “It’s been a long while, huh?”
While smiling and bringing your face closer to me
“Well, let’s go. Just the two of us.” You say
Below the barn in Lapland
The old street of Galma Stan
The summer grass is getting in the way
With this pace, I’ll swim through today
If my hand could finally touch you…
Please, wake up already, look
At me, who’s forgotten you
I raise my head, because of how fast ‘goodbye’ came
If someday the dawn finally comes…
Please, wake up already, look
I have pictured you half-asleep so many times
This song is so sad once you watch the video, and you realize what it means.
But I won’t spoil anything for any of you who hasn’t watched it yet, or listened to it.
I won’t force you or anything, but you should try to give it a listen! Or watch the video, at least.
Thank you for reading this post, I appreciate it! And thank you all my followers for liking my posts.
I’ll post more when I have the time, or you can just let me know what I should post next!
