Thoughts on Franklin from tcm 1974? I’ve never found him that annoying but it seems to be an unpopular opinion
yeah a majority of fans seem to find franklin annoying and i suppose i can understand where that comes from. however i dont think he's annoying, tbh i hardly mind him as a character. but i think his neediness (what ppl tend to find annoying of him) stems from him being disabled which isnt entirely considered by most audiences. he relies on his sister Sally and her friends to assist him physically and mentally. his constant "nagging" and questioning is how he attempts to understand the rather traumatic situation unfolding around him. I'm not disabled so i cant speak much on the topic but thats my opinion lolll

yeah thats my thoughts on it too actually
mainly cause i didnt see him asking for anything over the top
not to mention he gets constantly hurt and troubled on a trip that he was dragged out to by his sister's friends
AND LIKE
kirk even suggests just leaving the guy out there
my guy
franklin legit just needed support from the people around him
and they brushed him away majority of the time even after the traumatic encounter with nubbins
just cause they wanted to have fun themselves
it just implied the view for me that his sister's abled friends were glazing over his situation for their own selfish benefits
and honestly to me that was FAR more annoying than franklin ever was
personal opinion ofc
But point still stands
its a shame that this trope of disabled people being an unwanted carry on is so prevelant
like theyre real people
id complain if i were in franklins spot too!
im not a wheelchair user specifically so i cannot expand my knowledge to that type of experience as i only use a cane
but it still urks me how he was just cast aside majority of the time he was on screen
sorry for the rant
but yeah franklin was never as bad as people make him out to be
