writing my korean romance fantasy be like:

me, desperate for some writer friends/mutuals
hi everyone!
this is just a post where writers get to know writers, and hopefully through reblogs/comments we can find more people who not only read/write our genre, but just people who have similarities with us.
it's kind of a simple "get to know me" post, and anyone can join <3 if you want to know more about me and my works, check out my writblr intro!
feel free to tag your mutuals and reblog !!
name: pronouns: genres you like to write in: genres you like to read in + fav books/media: favorite line from your current wip:
name: ave
pronouns: she/her
genres you like to write in: currently writing contemporary (ya/romcom/romance, give me them ALL), but I also like to dabble in fantasy!
genres you like to read in + fav books/media: i'll consume literally anything haha. Fantasy, mystery, historical fiction, romance, young adult, you name it. I'm awful with horror, though ;-;
percy jackson (MY CHILDHOOD), harry potter (OBVIOUSLY), Better Than the Movies, From Lukov with Love, The Love Hypothesis, These Violent Delights, the list goes on...
favorite or latest line from your current wip: [from Destination Seoul]
“How can I?” I mutter, leaning back in my chair. “Even I know when a relationship is over. Especially because I ended it. Besides…”
writing is lonely
it's true, being an author is lonely. you're stuck-and not in a bad way-in your own world and with your own characters, and it's like you either want to bottle your precious gem up inside or tell the whole world about it.
but reaching out to other authors-and possibly fellow readers!-takes time and effort. don't be scared to promote your works, or tell others about your wip's. we're all in the same boat here, and doing so makes writing a little less lonely. ♥️
plus, we all reply :)
you may write different genres, but writers can still support writers. :)
and if you find someone who writes the same genre/likes the same things, SHOUT AT THEM AND SUPPORT THEM SO THEY'RE STUCK WITH YOU FOR LIFE !!!
i'm writing. i'm writing. i'm writing. i'm writing. i'm writing. i'm writing. i'm writing. i'm writing. i'm writing. i'm writing. i'm writing. i'm writing. i'm writing. i'm writing. i'm writing. i'm writing. i'm writing. i'm writing. i'm writing. i'm writing. i'm writing. i'm writing. i'm writing. i'm writing. i'm writing. i'm writing. i'm writing. i'm writing.
*internet cuts off tumblr and actually makes me write*
i'm telling you this because i'm struggling with it, too.
stop second guessing and doubting yourself. stop getting imposter syndrome while writing. stop comparing.
i know it's hard to stop, and this is a process i always struggle with. but it's awful when you get tunnel vision, seeing all the plot holes and every little grammatical error made. i open my wip's sometimes, and get such bad anxiety that i can't even write, because i'm so scared. it literally doesn't make sense, but it happens.
but learn to love what you write. grow attached to your characters, and write whatever you want. write for yourself first. and no matter what, whether it's one word or sentence that you wrote that day, be proud of yourself.
self validation and self care comes before a completed novel or mesmerizing characters.
<3
be honest: you write for that keyboard asmr sound 😂
!!!!!!!!
thanks for the advice! :) you can even write comments like "I LOVE THIS" or "ew why did they make this decision" or "LMAO" just sporadically in your drafts, I sometimes find that it helps me get in the zone or writing mood with my own story haha
moodboards, finding playlists, or even consulting writer friends are also a great idea

that feeling when you write and just. can't. stop >>
i keep wanting to write but i can’t because im stopping myself somehow from writing and I don’t know if it’s because I’m scared to finish this draft or just scared of what comes after or scared that I’ll have to stop again because I feel like I never have the time but it’s awful
im writing a little bit each day but it’s not MY wip or my current project and it just gets a little bit harder
but im going to get back into it, one because i want to, and two because i owe it to myself
30 DAYS, 30 LINES CHALLENGE
Day 10, 7/31/22
From Where Paradise Died and Lived:
Her life ran on autopilot now. The continuous relay of six hour shifts, rotating between night and day, seemed to be the strongest sense of time she understood. Her off days swung variously between feeling interminable and fleeting.
this may just be me - but i realize how important support and validation is in writing. and now the affirmations where people read your work and say it's amazing.
that's great too, but i mean the direct support of your family and writer friends telling you that you can do it when you believe you can't. when you're about to slip into that space of insecurity, wondering, should i really do this? your family members tell you, yes, i told you that you shouldn't have done it, that you would regret it.
support is so, so important. and it shouldn't be half-assed, because our insecurity can latch onto that, too. and this isn't just for people who want to be full-time writers, but all writers, because anyone who writes is a writer.
but it hurts when the people closest to you don't understand how you feel. don't understand the frustration that sometimes comes with having writers' block, the joy of finding a character's origins, their turning point, their growth.
i still get messages from my loved ones: are you still doing this? is this the route you want to go? and it hurts, because i feel like they don't have faith in me, like they're watching a car go at 120 mph or something and waiting for it to create an accident.
but i can't let go of this. i crave writing, i think about it even when i can't write, and i miss the nostalgia of getting words on the page.
so don't give up. you can do it, you can be it. i believe in you, genuinely.
character development

if you are developing a character and need to figure out their desires, their fears, and their flaws, I highly, highly recommend this because the eneagram essentially goes / does a deep dive into what the character truly craves, and I think it's so useful when writing !!

For whatever reason, out of the families in the animal kingdom, I find birds are, by far, the hardest to keep safe in dreams. As the child of two veterinarians, animals (not surprisingly) often play critical roles in my dreams. This hummingbird dream reminds me of a dream I had when I was really young that has stuck with me through the years.
I was with my family at a museum. On display was one of the last surviving members of this endangered species of dolphin. It was magnificent; it was big and powerful, and had dark grey freckles across its dorsal side.
The exhibit was on the roof where the small, shallow pool was open and left the dolphin exposed to the elements. I realized the dolphin was swimming in tight circles along the edge of it's cement tank, growing increasingly agitated as the sky turned grey, indicating a storm approaching. This was a textbook example of unhealthy behavior exhibited by captive animals who were kept in environments that did not meet the animals physical or mental/emotional needs.
I tried desperately to get my parents to help - they were also distressed by the dolphin's conditions. They only told me that they didn't know anybody who could take the dolphin. I asked if there were any rescue or wildlife protection organizations that could do something. Their only answer was: no, everyone's hands are tied. In a final attempt to do something, I asked if we could just pool all our savings and buy the dolphin in order to save its life. My request was turned down. Eventually I was left alone with the dolphin on the roof of the museum, crying into the tank, wishing there was something I could do.
Just woke up from a very on-the-nose, Showtime Original Series kind of dream. I was living at my apartment on Commonwealth avenue, and I was coming home to it when a hummingbird followed me inside. I put my hand out and it landed on my finger. I gave it a little push and it was flying freely around my apartment, but my cat got a hold of it and I had to rescue it, so then I just started holding its little feet between my fingers so it wouldn’t fly off and get hurt. It didn’t seem to mind.
I took it to the front door of my apartment to let it go. It hovered in the doorway and didn’t leave and I couldn’t help but put my hand out again and, again, it landed on my finger. I thought, nobody’s going to believe this, I ought to get a photo of it.
By the time I got my phone out, a large dog had entered my apartment and had somehow gotten the hummingbird in its mouth. I got it away. It was still fine, but I started taking to holding its whole body lightly in my hand. I could feel its little heartbeat beating a thousand times a second but I remembered reading somewhere that that was normal for a hummingbird.
I wanted to send it on its way, get it away from this apartment, where it didn’t belong, where it was in danger, but now I wanted to capture it on video before it left. I found my iPad and was trying to get it in camcorder mode with one hand while clutching this tiny, fragile thing in the other while, and all the while, more cats and dogs were showing up to the apartment, as if they could sense the little bird’s presence and couldn’t wait to eat it.
Then people started coming over, the landlord, a little girl from next door, all of them asking questions and trying to help. I couldn’t trust any of them to capture the bird on video and I certainly couldn’t trust them to hold the bird and I couldn’t let it go around these animals but I also couldn’t get the stupid iPad in video mode with the camera facing the right way.
Finally, my girlfriend, Erin, came over, and I let her take the iPad so I could protect the bird. I penned all the cats and dogs inside the apartment and walked out to the front of the building. The landlord told me to make sure he and the building weren’t in the video, because it was illegal to touch a hummingbird. The little girl explained that they were endangered, and that once they smell like a human, other hummingbirds ostracize them. A family from the building next door pulled their car down their driveway. The car had a canoe on the roof and was loaded with camping supplies. The mother leaned out its window and said, “has it had a heart attack yet?”
I said let’s just forget the video, let’s just let it go and run inside so it doesn’t come back.
Erin confessed that she had just made a deal with YouTube, they were expecting footage of a hummingbird.
I noticed I hadn’t felt the heartbeat in my hand for a while.
I woke up sad and confused in a hotel room. Mostly because, when your creative anxiety dreams are that hacky, you’ve got good reason to have creative anxiety. But at least I’m dreaming again.

Character Voice Tag! ✨️
I love these!! This one from @rotting-moon-writes, Thanks for the tag @lychhiker-writes!
My line: "You should go to sleep." Your line: -Has realized as they're purchasing something.. that they forgot their wallet-
Valian🐁:
"Get some shut-eye, Star eyes.
Seeker🌠:
"It's been a rather long day, hasn't it? You've done all you can, little one. I'll take care of things while you get some much deserved rest."
Klaus🌻:
"You need your rest. Close your eyes now.."
Kazimier💋:

✨️OC 'Purity Test' Tag Game✨️
Starting a new tag game and cackling at the thought of my mutuals doing this. Let's go!
Take the Rice Purity Test for your OCs to see how pure (score near 100) or scandalous (score near 0) they are. This is me making fun of purity culture, not supporting it. All scores are valid and shouldn't be subject to ridicule. If you don't know what one of the questions means, you can message me, no judgement.
Characters from 🌐7 Circles🌐
From most pure to least pure:
Seeker🌠: 85
This proper diplomat grew up somewhat sheltered. I wonder how low it will be by the end of the book..
Valian🐁: 51
More in the middle than I thought! Val never got to be in a relationship before he was imprisoned.
Kaus🌻: 36
Being an incubus gave him most of the checks tbh. I think Klaus is too good a man to go much lower.
Me✨️ (for funzies): 16
Hmm. I would not recommend my past to others. I'm apparently a great resource for writing explicit themes tho.
Kazimer💋: 7..
Oofta. Ahahahaa... Listen, he's had a few centuries to get to this number though. Things he hasn't done below.
Kazi HAS NOT: Joined the mile high club. Had a STI. Impregnated someone or been impregnated. Committed an act of incest. Engaged in bestiality. Had sexual intercourse in public. Cheated on a significant other during a relationship.

The Muscular Musical Musketeer
‘Picaro’ plucks his lute, sweat dripping down underneath his drenched shirt. The small patches of dryness that cover the sweat streaming down his bumps and crevices tell a lustrous tale of the musketeer’s rigorous sword training earlier that day. His calloused fingers strum a song of strength, spirit, passion and perseverance. He raises his shining head to the sun, his shaggy locks glistening in its godly glow. The sleeves are almost stretched taut and forced to contort with whichever direction his thickset wrists move, as his hands continue their gentle twanging.
But while his body may heave from exertion and his clothes fight an eternal battle with it, his mind sings with the calm and serenity this moment provides.
The musical amateur finishes his dexterous ditty with a flourish worthy of praise from both gilded kings and courageous countrymen alike. He stands up to stretch and for the briefest time, his white shirt hugs the swordsman’s body tighter in a multitude of ways.
The musketeer, the perfect portrait of melody and muscle, picks up his lute from the brick bridge he’s perched on. ‘Picaro’ starts to make his way back home, content with his second practice session of the day.
Do not create a bridge between two cliffs, and break it later on, so no one can cross it. Someone might be stuck in the middle of it, with no chance to save their life.
