"Timothy?"

Timothy turned away from the pool of dishes to face Alexander, who was leaning haphazardly in his stool. He raised his brow at him, turning all the way and folding his arms. Alexander sighed and set the stool down all the way.

Timothy smiled, "Yes? What do you need?"

"I was wondering about angels and stuff." Alexander said, rubber ruler being tugged and twisted in his hold. "Like, what's it... like?"

Timothy hummed and dried his hands on the white apron hanging from his waist. "What exactly do you mean?"

"Uh, Heaven, is it nice?"

Timothy looked at the ceiling light for a minute. "I would say so, yes, it's quite lovely. Always nighttime up there."

Alexander leaned forward on his arms, accidentally crumpling his homework in the process, "Nighttime? Isn't it supposed to be bright and sunny all the time?"

Timothy shook his head, smile forming. "Common belief, but that can get infernal after a while, wouldn't it?"

"Yeah, but it's Heaven. Nothing's infernal after a while." Alexander cocked his head to the side.

"Alright," Timothy turned again to attend to the dishes. "If you know so much about heaven, why don't you tell me about it? I'll correct you as you do." Timothy sank his hands back into the hot soapy tap water. The dishes clanked loudly, making Alexander flinch. He frowned.

"There's no loud sounds." He said firmly, staring directly at Timothy's back.

Timothy tensed, suddenly trying to be more careful with the porcelain dishes. "Er, for most, yes."

Alexander slapped the ruler on the table. "Uh... well, I'm guessing a lot of Earth rules apply up there."

Timothy nodded. "Rules like gravity and temperatures exist, but not everything." He put a chef's knife in the utensil roll. "For example, oxygen isn't up there, since there's no need for such chemicals."

Alexander tightened his mouth into a fine line. He squeezed his ruler and grabbed a pencil. He kicked his dangling feet around, proceeding to draw instead of waiting for a response.

"Well, I can live without air! But there's gotta be whole church dedicated to video games!"

Timothy chuckled. "Yes, I do believe I saw one of those at one point."

Alexander's grin widened. "A bunch of animals: kittens, crocodiles, puppies, peacocks!"

Timothy couldn't help but turn around from his work. He smiled warmly at the sight of Alexander grabbing various scented markers to finish his little piece.

"Everyone's there! A lot of people of a lot of colors, sexualities, genders, and- and of all ages!" Alexander was smiling brighter than ever. He threw a bottle of glitter glue over his shoulder and proudly held up the drawing. Various rushed doodles of kittens and dogs were surrounding a square with a shakily drawn Nintendo logo on the very top. There were multiple circles with big smiles representing what Timothy could only imagine being souls and angels.

Timothy nodded. "Heaven is like that, yes."

Alexander stopped, his smile fading somewhat, and turned the drawing back to the table. He went back and continued to draw.

"And..." he set the pencil back down. He turned it around. Timothy's eyes widened.

It was a pair of stick figures. A woman and a man. They were holding hands and held very big smiles.

"They're there."

Timothy's eyes softened. He dried his hands again, and walked over to the table. He sat next to him and gently put his hand over Alexander's small shoulder.

"They are."

Alexander avoided his gaze. He played with a blue colored pencil in his hands. "Have you ever seen them?"

Timothy nodddd, rubbing his shoulder. "I have."

Alexander whipped his head up. Tears were forming around his eyes, and his shoulders shook.

Timothy took in a deep breath.

"They're very happy together. Your mother is a troublemaker and your father is more of a safe player." Timothy reassuringly tightened his grip on his shoulder. "I think it's obvious who you take after."

Alexander shook from both laughter and sobs, tears finally spilling down his cheeks. Timothy wiped them off with his thumb.

"Not to mention they're the kindest couple I ever had the pleasure to meet."

Alexander forced a smile. "Did they like dogs?" His voice quivered, a failed attempt to sound okay.

Timothy nodded. "They loved them...almost as much as they loved you."

Alexander shuddered as he finally took air in. Timothy gently wrapped his arms around him. Alexander gripped the fabric of Timothy's sleeve.

"They love you very much, Alexander."
