The new dashboard is so ugly. Does anyone know if there is a way to change it back? Also, is it just me or is tumblr live consist almost entirely of porn bots?

why make the font smaller? to say reblogged instead of having a reblog icon? to make way for the follow button to be on the left? to make room for the three dots on the right? why change anything in the first place? why?

hey has anyone else seen the "I don't want to see these anymore" button on tumblr? i was looking for bots to report in the asexual tags, found an nsfw blog who was hijacking the tags and got that button when i clicked the three dots on the post. i don't have a screenshot of it but it certainly was there, and when i clicked on it the post vanished. i swear im not going insane, i saw is. is this a new feature or something?

yall i dont think i like the new browser tumblr layout... i keep goin to the top of my screen but its on the side now :/

I love how on Tumblr Staff's recent post about some changes they'll be making, they've turned off commenting so I can't go into the reblogs to see how many people are with me thinking the changes they're making are stupid.

I have fixed the dashboard (kinda)

do you see the new sidebar? it sucks yes? i got rid of it temporarily (it comes back if I reload the page). here's a quick explanation if anyone needs it.

first, i should say that you can't get to anything in that bar like this. if you want something there, you need a new tab. also, i did this on firefox, via the website, so it may not work elsewhere.

step one: right click on the sidebar (somewhere there isn't any text, ideally between the lowest text and the 'create' button)

step two: click 'inspect'

step three: on the lower left, there should be some intimidating-looking code. as you hover over it, it should highlight parts of the screen. go up to the one that highlights as much of the sidebar as possible, right below the one that highlights the whole screen.

step four: delete it

congrats it should be gone now. unfortunately this doesn't put the interface back at the top, so it's not all back, but when i did this it fixed the width of the rest of the screen automatically. it will come back if you reload the page, so you can still get use the buttons on it if you need or fix things if you mess up. if this doesn't work, maybe leave an ask or reply and i can try to figure something out.

hopefully this can get us through until someone makes an actual plugin restoring the old layout

(edit: for me, the thing to delete is called something like <div class:"h_Erh">. also about a quarter of the time it glitches and moves the bar behind the posts? but it's the best I can figure out with my basically 0 html or css knowledge)

I only joined Tumblr in 2021 cuz most other platforms were becoming way too unpractical and unlikeable to use. Istg if Tumblr joins literally almost every other website by removing reblog chains than I will MUTINY

Tumblr reblog chains are in danger.

It seems that the staff is actually going to go forward with their decision to remove reblog chains, where reblogs will basically work like regular comments on other websites.

This doesn't just make the site completely unusable, it removes the soul of the community that has managed to build up here over the years, and that I'm so happy to have recently joined.

It makes impossible the creation of great posts where many people build up a single thing, until it is a gem of expressed human creativity.

There will be no more world heritage posts, no more messing around with your mutuals, no posts worth remembering.

There will be no more Tumblr, and the Tikblr or TumbTube or whatever monstrosity is born from its corpse will soon die, as is probably the best. And then there will never be another place like this on the internet, no place anymore to run to, no more fun, no more community.

I recommend a simple course of action. When these changes get imposed upon us, stop using Tumblr. Get your mutuals' discords, your favourite artists' websites, and leave. If the Tumblr we have once known returns, we well too. If not, better let it die quickly than suffer a long and painful decline.

I beg you to reblog this, for the more people see it, the higher chanses are for this to work.

And add something, so we can show them what Tumblr is really for.

As of midnight, I can no longer edit my posts. I didn't even update the app, and installing the new update didn't fix it. So I looked it up and apparently, in some "genius'" infinite wisdom they thought doing this was a good idea. What the actual f***‽ The bizarre thing, is that when you tap the link, the above information shown on Google search, isn't even posted there. I opened it in chrome and used "Find in Page" just to be sure.

I'm new to Tumblr and this change has me thinking about leaving, and I mean strongly thinking about it. Why would you ever think that removing post editing was a good idea? 🤦

Fix it, or you're going to lose even more users.

Guys, guys, they’re not collapsing reblogs.

They just aren’t. I was really worried too so I looked into it.

What happened, is they just poorly worded the actual feature they are thinking about implementing. Which is collapsing reblogs when you’ve already seen the post and only to the point so that you can more easily see the new stuff.

They are well aware collapsing reblogs will kill the site.

Please stop panicking- we are all just stressing each other out.

I think the one Tumblr change that I would really enjoy would be the ability to change between profiles and have them be totally separate from each other. being able to like and repost things on one blog, switch, and not see any of that content on another would be super helpful imo
