What your favorite man hunter character design
Oh no I'm going to talk a lot, lol. Okay so! I've got a couple of favorites because they're a combination of things I like. This is all completely subjective preferences, so here's my itemized list of things I personally want to see in a Martian Manhunter design:
No ears: I'm so picky about this. When J'onn has ears he looks too much like a human in green paint, and when he has pointy elf ears he looks too fantasy instead of sci fi. I'm a fan of his more alien looking forms where he has a crest and no ears.
Not too buff!!: It's easy for J'onn to be mistaken for the Hulk, so along with no ears, I like him being less beefy. I also don't see J'onn as a brute muscle character.
Sci-fi leaning outfit: What makes J'onn stand out from Clark is that of the two, J'onn is the more "alien" character, so his outfit should reflect that! The more sci-fi-high-end-weird-fashion for him, the better.
Red eyes: or shadowy orange like the DCAU design, I like that too. Bonus: no pupils in martian form.
Main color green, primary colors as accents: I don't like the newer designs that introduce deep purples with overwhelming red pop accents. It reads like villain colors to me and doesn't look as nice!
Needs to be in some way scantily clad: This is so important, he's Not Like Other Men please I don't have to explain this one
Big brows: defining trait.
My top 4 fav Martian Manhunter designs (in no order):

DCAU and Man of Tomorrow These designs have a great balance of blue with red and yellow accents. The DCAU's alien + Frankenstein's monster face has a restrained expressive quality that's easy to get attached to. Meanwhile Tomorrow's design leaned away from the mystic and more into sci-fi (which I prefer). The design finds an elegant solution to J'onn's boots and pants while spreading the red accent, which is clever. My only nitpick for Tomorrow's design is for the red crisscrosses to be simplified (just a little) for drawing efficiency.

Love that both these designs don't have ears, but I especially love how Tomorrow's design has a crest. Very alien <3 good amount of scantily clad.

Supergirl tv show
My favorite live action J'onn so far! I make more exceptions to my itemized preferences when things get adapted to live action since it can translate awkwardly to take what works for animation/comics literally. He looks fantastically sci-fi with the armor plating, and I like that they still pay homage to where the red and yellow is placed + blue cape.

this design technically has ears BUT it's so hidden and well shaped into the crest that I count it as a design with no ears. Love that it also resembles David Harewood, while still being distinct. I prefer this design over the Snyder one's distracting face markings (and ears...). I do wish the Supergirl tv show design could at least have him be sleeveless, though.

J'onn's Manhunter outfit in MM Identity (2019) by Riley Rossmo (cover drawn by Joshua Middleton)
By the end of this comic J'onn transforms into essentially his classic DCAU design which is great, but what I really want to geek over is Rossmo's take on the Manhunter uniform on Mars!! Because artistically he understood the assignment. Despite giving him longer sleeves, the design is still iconic-ly scantily clad by giving us booty shorts. We get to see his legs. His thighs. It's been so long. It's been years. The design is sleek, even without a cape it's still so distinctly Martian Manhunter. Great distribution of color. No ears. Big brows and alien eyes. My only nitpick is I wish his face was more appealing in the comic.
tldr; no ears more thighs
